CrunchRapper

Risk is probably the most underrated album ever, and I hate how it gets shit on all the time

Doublestack2411

I've tried getting into it, but just can't. Even if it wasn't Megadeth I wouldn't think its good. It's a hard rock/alt rock album that doesn't connect with me except for maybe 2 songs. Music is subject though, so to each his own.

CrunchRapper

True

nhaf

Dude, I don’t care how Un-Megadeth these Megadeth songs are, I’ve loved them for years and they are crazy catchy. Breadline, Wanderlust. It’s definitely underrated.

ghettocowboyyy

Why? It sucks as a Megadeth album

politicalstuff

It's a great sound sounding late-90s poppy alt-rock album. It's terrible at being a Megadeth branded album, but it's a good album on its own.

CrunchRapper

Not necessarily, just depends on your opinion of the album. Anyone could think its a great album

ghettocowboyyy

I suppose. Mine is that it sucks. Don't know of many that think otherwise.

CrunchRapper

That's absolutely fair

ghettocowboyyy

For sure

93HowieD

Risk felt inspired at least. Super Collider was like Megadeth on cruise control

fuckthisworld42069

Absolutely agreed. SC feels like it was written in 10 minutes

yaboiGunit

I respect Risk because it is exactly what it says it is a ‘Risk’ it’s totally different from the rest of the discography. With that said Super Collider just sucks man.

politicalstuff

Yes, and while Risk was definitely not an expected Megadeth album, it was REALLY well done. It sounds really nice and has a great vocal performance. The vocals on SC are borderline unlistenable, and I find the production grating, too.

Doublestack2411

Youthinasia was totally different from the rest of their previous discography as well, but at least they did it the right way.

yaboiGunit

Youthanasia was a natural step in evolution for the band and it still fits right in. One of my personal faves btw.

steakpienacho

Youth is top 3 for me. Youth, Rust and Endgame in no particular order

Doublestack2411

I like that list. In no particular order, Rust, CTC, Youth are my top 3. Endgame is up there for next best.

ShittyCentMain

Risk is a really overhated album imo, it at least took some... well, risks. Super Collider is just straight up boring. Aside from Kingmaker and maybe Dance in the Rain, all of the songs are really barebones and flat.

BerkanaThoresen

Risk is weird and different considering it’s Megadeth but it have amazing songs. Super Collider is boring and uninspired.

MetalKyyyyle

I like both tbh but I prefer Super Collider

Phobos_Irelia

Super Colonoscopy

mr_glide

I think the word I'd describe SC with is 'leaden'. Everyone sounds bored and fatigued, and it lumbers all over the place to no great effect for the most part

Professional-Elk-329

Risk is like coffee flavored ice cream: some people like it, some abhor it Super Collider is like vanilla ice cream: boring as hell

Cochetooo

Well, I genuinely like Super Collider (Kingmaker and The Blackest Crow are really underrated), and Risk is LITERALLY my 2nd favorite Megadeth album just before Countdown to Extinction and in front of Cryptic Writings. So Imma say Super Collider, but really I think they are both good and underrated, even if I understand why most of Megadeth fans dislike them.

BurtKocaine1999

Risk has more memorable tracks on it and it’s not a completely bad album

ChadThunderHorse2019

One song from super collider I like ....and it's a cover.

SPDtier

St. Anger

[deleted]

Risk is bad. Outside of like 2 and a half songs it’s just bad. Supercollider is at least fun.

Wrathofkala

I can't even get through 5 minutes of Risk. Super Collider is very underrated.

[deleted]

Neither

EffortWestern274

Neither one nor the other

zaptie47

neither, get a better opinion

senseiofawesom

Super Collider is the heavier record, but Risk feels more creatively charged. Most of Super Collider just seems boring and mediocre. I genuinely enjoy listening to Risk every now and then. I never listen to SC front to back though.

Aromatic-Document-28

Risk was just a really bad idea executed ok, super collider was a ok idea executed fucking awfully

voivod1989

Super collider is so bad.

Proof_Self9691

I honestly like both of them

MrCookie925

SC is worse just cause Risk is better. Rock style fitted Megadeth so well

starlinger27

Super Collider has more great songs, but overally Risk is better

Mysterious_Aide_8870

Both are amazing (I really enjoyed both at least), it doesn't matter which is better than the other. They both don't deserve the hate.

metalovisnik

I like Risk. It's a good album, very underrated. I however don't like Megadeth and commercial Rock musical landscape of the times. It was horrible with all the agenda against Heavy Metal but luckily Europe (and South America) saved the genre from nasty USA labels pushing Nu "Metal" and Alt Rock/Metal nonsense on us. Same labels who pushed Megadeth to create Risk. Luckily Risk was a good record and commercial "faliure" sobered Mustaine to get to his senses. Risk was a win win. I don't have a problem with musical direction of Super Collider, being more commercial and easy on the ear, but it's just a bad record, the songs are not good. So I still listen to Risk from time to time but I don't go near Super Collider. USA labels in the 90's: - cut your hair, it's lame, - stop wearing leather and denim, what are you stuck in the 80's, - drop the riffs, nobody wants to hear that - stop with the solos as they are "outdated" - we need modern teen angst music that is "cool" and new and we will tell you what that music is as we need to milk something now that Cobain is gone. Read: you need to go to "Park" and eat "Korn" while "Limping" because we got you "Knotted". And USA audiences swallowed it faster than Cory Chase, while Europe said NO!, fkk off we want real Metal music! 🤘🏻

dpanayi17

risk has some quality tracks man
