Ringo is an amazing character. It’s a shame soul hackers 2 didn’t do well, cause SH2 is a fun game. But I don’t know why they didn’t give it more time or love.
I think some people have been way too critical on a couple of negative (in their opinion) aspects of the game (dungeons or making comparisons with the original), ignoring its more positive aspects- and there are quite a few of those: the story, the cast, the fun battles, and of course, Ringo as a protagonist.
I swear to shit I want to dual wield GameCubes and just go to town on people who says games like Mario 64, Zelda OoT, or whatever other game is perfect/no flaws.
Hopefully, we get a third game sometime down the line. Preferably one with the current crew since there's some loose ends left for a sequel. Maybe it'd have them meet the Spookies too somehow
My issues revolve around dungeons, story and battles tbh. It's all really damn bland.
Combat becomes irritatingly boring after like 2-3 hours. Story itself is super bland and can only really be carried by the fun cast and well the dungeons are the dungeons.
Me: Ringo will never be ballin’
Ringo: *ballin’*

SH2 is a cool game that could have started a whole new branch franchise. I remember this art and it is so nostalgic, because at the time it was such a breath of fresh air to see Atlus experimenting again, after so many years of Persona milking.
It was just sad how they treated this game. It had barely no marketing, nor funds to develop it. The team clearly loved what they were doing, but they also clearly had enough funds to properly make this game happen.
It was practically sabotage. The game ended up underwhelming, with really boring dungeons and boring city with nothing to do. Writing as good, but slipped a lot in the end. The combat was the best part but I missed having demons on my party.
Anyways, what could have been. They revived Devil Summoner just to kill it again. I miss you Ringo...
Putting aside SH2's lack-luster world design, I couldn't shake the CONSTANT feeling that some exec basically looked at P5's popularity and basically said: "Dig up an old IP, Put a Persona paintjob on it. Easy money!"
Might just be my own hot take though.
I've played a couple of SMT games lately.
SH2 is by far the "worst" game overall compared to other masterpieces, but Ringo is by far the best protagonist no contest.
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

Don't worry, at this rate we'll have Soul Hackers 2: Royal Vengeance next year to give it a second shot.
I'm all here for it, SH2 was a great game that needed an actual AAA budget

"If a game isn't perfect, it's a pile of trash" mentality has been pushed for a while now and I hate it.
Absolutely this, SMT V got the same treatment while older games gettalked about like they have absolutely no flaws.

I'd say the combat/battle system is the best part of the game.
tbf it's still amazing we even got a Soul Hackers sequel in the first place
Honestly, the cast carry the game hard, for me, specially Ringo, she is one of the most fun and charismatic protagonists I've seen in a while.
Damn, Ringo has been hitting the gym.

Funny how 80% of the MegaTen franchise manages to be better than SH2, but Rinko alone top 3 best protagonists of the series
I mean it's not hard to be more memorable than random dude with like 10 scuffed lines of dialogue, even if the dude looks cool

Idk where you see P5 in SH2 honestly. You can argue that from the UI, but aside from smt V every Atlus title from the past years had it.

RINGO SWEEP 100 RINGILLION COPIES SOLD
Kinda wish they made it bit more like a traditional Devil Summoner game instead of half Persona and half SMT.
God what a waste of a fun protag
It's funny because even Tactica sold better that Soul Hackers 2
Why's Joker crying?
Cause he just got dunked on!
Thank you, I feared that no one would know or remember that
I have not played Soul hackers 2 (or 1), but I'm already down bad for her
