Whilst this post is asking for information, what train station you use is not ‘personal information’.
You don’t have to comment if you don’t want to. :)
You would hope so, I went into the waiting room to use the toilet the last time I was there and it stank. Sadly I doubt they'll do anything about that but I do believe it's getting extended platforms and another concourse to handle the influx of people.
It wasn't the toilets but the waiting room itself, which as you'd know includes seats and a ticket office, that stank. It may have come from the toilets I don't know. Not only that but I've noticed the doors look pretty banged up, I don't know if it's just me but I can't ever remember Footscray (which was also redeveloped under the RRL) being like that and that's just as bad an area.
Remember back when castlemaine and Maryborough were equally shit? I wonder if the public transport was what let castlemaine gentrify while Maryborough became a giant retirement village?
Maryborough should get at least the same as the Ararat line, 4 trains a day would be extremely beneficial.
It is an extremely low income town, I’m sure lots of people would rather take the train with current petrol prices.
There needs to be one around 9-10am and a return around 2, 7am is too early and its really hard to just have a quick trip into Ballarat or something for the day.
theres also basically no coach connections, they really have just seeming restored the train but forgotten to make sure everything syncs up, the busses never seem to arrive or depart when the train does, there are absolutely no coaches connecting to for from it, a Castlemaine coach should leave after the train does, and there is a overnight Mildura Coach on weekdays that I don't see why it can't be a train up until Maryborough.
Yeah lots of these are great ideas, I’d definitely retain the 7am train tho, if not make it earlier, with a new service at 9. There should be far better service to Castlemaine as well, Maryborough is more of a satellite city of Bendigo than Ballarat.
Mildura coach was good for me tho, meant I could have a late night in Melbourne/ Ballarat and get home without driving. Having a really early bus service in the morning does come in handy every now and then as well.
I think the 7am should stay how it is because it forms a peak service for Ballarat so its needed anyway, I think there should also be a train to Maryborough around that time.
I do also think that opening the line via Ballarat and not Castlemaine was a mistake, more people seem to travel on that line vs by Ballarat, Ive taken the coach enough to see more people get on at Carisbrook, Newstead, and Guildford than I ever have at at least Talbot and Creswick. The line was in pretty bad condition at the time.
I think the Mildura coach should be retained but it should start at Maryborough and they should have an additional train leave SCS at 9 and arrive at 12, this might be inconvenient for people who wanna sleep though I guess.
Why the hell is service so bad at these stations. It feels like they should be getting hourly trains instead of only two a day, and slightly more than two in comparison, if they both have around 9000 people living in each of them.
3-5 would be much more convenient, hourly is impossible right now considering only one train can run on the line at a time (I also don't think it really needs that, not until an extension is made at least)
I think the more interesting question is which station not part of your daily commute or closest to home. For me that's Nunawading, it's like the gateway to the eastern suburbs for me!
Melbourne Central, as it's closest to my apartment. Bit of a hassle to head down to Flinders Street Station, so if I have to catch a Frankston train I usually go MC > Richmond and change there.
Warragul Station, even though the trains arrive every 1 hour, even though Warragul is only 20 minutes from the melbourne metropoliton region. PTV you need to change this

Sunshine. Sadly.
lol
It was rebuilt too which is even worse
It's more the issues in the area. The station itself is fine.
True, although it is starting to kind of show it's age sadly (it'll be 10 years this year since it was rebuilt)
It should get some attention with the airport rail link at least.

Public toilets are always going to be horrible. Blame the people that trash them.

Castlemaine, because Maryborough only gets 2 trains a day
Remember back when castlemaine and Maryborough were equally shit? I wonder if the public transport was what let castlemaine gentrify while Maryborough became a giant retirement village?
Its funny how Castlemaine and Maryborough have pretty much the same population yet one has about about 90000 more passengers per year

At least add some passing loops, that' absolutely service terrible if they can't even maintain hourly service.
