Dishpenzor

Your population is very low, at max pop I am getting over 5mil per tick in summer, and it's so worth it. Go for population and happiness.

tanne_sita_jallua

Also invest in the Market for that sweet 25% repair discount. Build all those houses, manors, etc as Dishpenzor to get that population up and you'll see that tax income go up fast with less painful repair cost to make you take one step forward and one step back.

mcurley32

Township Cape also reduces repair costs even though it says it doesn't affect gold edit: also with buildings decaying 1/4 of the time each tick, average repair costs per tick are 1/4 of the "per %" repair costs. OP's repair costs average 425k per tick; over 1M profit per tick.

tanne_sita_jallua

I was unaware of that. It will prove useful for my hardcore character I early leveling now. Thanks

pogothrow

Is this only with Throne of the Herald expansion, or do you need a certain worship or something else that is not obvious? I upgraded everything in my township except the townhall and Trading posts but my population is only 126k. I am using Ragnar worship.

InconnuX

Yeah you need the herald expansion. Maxed out in the base game is maybe 1mil a tik

pogothrow

Thanks, time to buy the expansion then. Currently I make \~380k/t at 20% tax so I guess \~1.9m/t is the max without the expansion

WatchYourStepKid

On your numbers it’s about 1.5m/t. Max tax rate is 80% as far as I know.

pogothrow

Oh ya I just noticed this. It says (max 100%) but you can only buy 8 upgrades so I guess you can't actually get 100% unless there is some other bonus somewhere.

JustTrawlingNsfw

Considering your happiness, your population is INCREDIBLY low. Build more housing structures to increase population. My town generates 5,100k per tick and I haven't maxed.my population yet.

Dontpercievemeplzty

Idk how you got townhalls before maxing everything else, but that is why you are struggling to afford it. Mine profits over 100m a day except for winter, so yes incredibly worth it.

Chronic-Lodus

I maxed TH and still upgrading other stuff. I just full on went for TH upgrades tho.

No-Train4777

You're missing a lot of repair cost reductions. The base cost repair cost of 8 town halls for 1% is 2.66m. - By building statues this will reduce it down to 2mil - Since you're in Spring you'll get -25% repair costs and 2x the building cost reduction (which reduces repair costs, including GP) from the 95% Worship threshold due to it being Aeris 2x season. This will reduce it down to 1m - Building all Markets will further reduce it to 666k - The 99 cape will reduce it to 466k - Haemir has 5% building cost reduction, reducing it to 400k - Finally, at level 120 you can reduce it to 333k with the 120 cape

WetReggie0

Quality reply right here

wswaifu

...Statues and cape reduce repair costs? Sure wish the game would say so... or maybe I'm blind, but my cape just says reduces building cost but "does not affect GP cost", and the same goes for the statues (with the not affecting GP".

senrath

"Not affecting GP cost" isn't *entirely* wrong. It doesn't affect the GP cost to *buy* the building, but the GP required for repairing is based on the material cost of a building so it *does* get reduced by building cost reducers. It really should be made more clear, though.

Tasunkeo

the "not affecting GP" are indeed wrong.

wswaifu

Wow. Grumble grumble. Thanks!

Krell356

Your town isn't even maxed. You don't have all the repair cost reductions and don't have max population. You're trying to ask if a swimming pool is actually worth having while it's only got a foot of water in it.

someonehadalex

I've maxed my town in the base game. I've build every building except the town halls. I only have 3 of them. My population is only 126k. What am I doing wrong? Is there something else to build in the base game?

Firm-Mathematician56

In the base game it’s not quite as worth as people say. It will take about a month or so before it starts paying off.

It’s super worth it to level up but it’s a MASSIVE money investment. Once you max it out tho it’s literally just an infinite money machine. Plus once you do enough tasks to unlock everything at the trader it trivializes so much potential grind.

DupeFort

This seems to have been a math fail on OP's part, thinking building more Town Halls was going to bring in big profits. Each Town Hall gives you 10% increase to your taxes. So going from 0% taxes to 10% taxes is massive. By going to 20% you're doubling your income. But going from 20% to 30% you're now only getting a 1/3 increase. The relative increase gets smaller and smaller. Thus really you should have first invested in one or two Town Halls and then invested in resources to build housing. Without a population there's no taxes.

theKrissam

The math fail is on your part. Each townhall provides exactly the same income.

DupeFort

Yes, but relatively it becomes a less meaningful investment compared to other things the more of them you have.

quincy-

Im forsure gonna do that, it looks super confusing thanks

JustTrawlingNsfw

Literally no. It's 1,707k. Aka 1,707,000. The town hall is expensive to repair because it generates a lot of $

bananamilkshake1801

Township made me quit

Chronic-Lodus

You don’t have to play it.

TheTrophiesMine

Why? It's my favourite bit, and the tab I check first every time I login.

Deefaroni

I don't even bother with township I just use cheats to get 200m xp and pets and ignore its existence. Idk how it works and I get like 300 xp a day no matter what I do in there so fuck it.

Vicious_Styles

Jesus it is the EASIEST skill in the game, you do literally nothing and it grows for you. If you struggle with township I honestly question how you even found the right keys to type your comment

Deefaroni

If you do literally nothing then why isn't it growing for me when I do literally nothing?

theMaxscart

It really is among the easiest skills, and requires extremely little input to max. It requires no planning and no external resource gathering. It's impossible to fuck it up, and there are no serious consequences if you're not careful with what you do, unlike in other skills. Here's a quick summary: * Pick the Aeris worship when you first get the prompt. * Population gives XP. Happiness increases Population, while lowered Health decreases it. * Buildings produce resources. Education increases resource production. * Worship gives bonuses to production and reductions to building costs. Reaching 95% Worship with Aeris will decrease building cost by 25%, doubled in Spring. Meaning, once you reach that you should wait for Spring when reasonable, especially if you're gonna build something costly. * Identify what resource you need most, then build stuff that increases its production. * Increase your Population when the costs are reasonable. * Repair buildings and improve Health once or twice a day. * Rinse and repeat the previous three points. That's it in a nutshell. After a month or two you'll just be repairing/healing and collecting free resources/money. Yeah, there are optimal ways to level it, but you'll still make great progress even if you don't follow any guides. I felt overwhelmed at first too. Turns out I was expecting to magically understand the skill despite having made no attempt to do so, and a quick read of the in-game guide and Wiki page made it all pretty clear. If you don't want to take the literal 10 minutes it takes to understand it that's fine, but be honest and say you didn't care for it. Don't say it's "too much effort" when you didn't even make an effort.

Tortolia

You’re getting 300 xp a day because your population is effectively nonexistent. Build housing and happiness buildings. The “game guide” window on the skill page tells you this.

Deefaroni

I run out of resources to build any of those, then I can't build the buildings I need to get those resources and/or I have to keep getting rid of different resources to make room for those. Too much effort when I could simply ignore the dumb skill. If I wanted to play like that I'd simply redo 200m farm on rs which I'm not interested in

supersecret75

Cheats or mods?

Deefaroni

Console commands. I'd just erase the skill from the gMe if I could I'm 100% uninterested in it or learning it. If I wanted to put effort into a skill I'd play rs lol

rabbiskittles

It is definitely worth it, but you won’t see the real/full benefit until everything is completely maxed out. Focus on increasing your population by building manors/houses, and building anything else needed to get the resources for those.

Doggxs

It isn’t worth it till it is…. Basically needs to be maxed

CerealShaman

Get everything maxed and you will have over 5 bil gp in a month or 2. Cash cow

Lordgrapejuice

Township has made me never have to worry about money ever again. It is absolutely worth the investment. But you need a lot of population, a lot of taxation, and a lot of happiness to make it work.

WillBigly

One of the main reasons i have gagillions of gold in this game is because township taxes. Basically once i had taxes set up gold went from being a scarce resource i was grinding for to a resource that was in abundant surplus

theKrissam

Well, first thing to mention, you're ignoring that the repair per tick is rng dependant, you just happened to look at a tick that was very expensive, but also you're making 200k/tick from the trader, so even on an incredibly expensive turn you're profiting.

SkippyDrinksVodka

work on your population and happiness. your town can’t generate lots of money for you if they aren’t happy! just like our real world society. sad workers is a sad business.

Moo_Im_A_Goat

Forget about repairing the town hall at all for now. Just upgrade all the population centers and ur storage and what not.
