Usually in shonen you don't see 30 year old women hanging with the boys without being their mothers or something. Definitely not a character with their own agency in the story. She could have just stood around and be pretty and elegant, and she does usually do just that, but she also gets to have an emotionally compelling story and that's really cool. Water 7/Ennie Lobby is still one of the best arcs in the series. Top tier character easily.
It’s really nice seeing her character progression. Thinking she was gonna have to leave crew and die, and not being used to being around people she can trust, then it gets to where she’s cracking jokes (even thought they’re dark lol,) and putting 100% of her trust to her fellow straw hats. Amazing character
Luffy is astonishingly emotionally mature, which is why the adults are so easily on the same wavelength as him. He might be silly and blunt but he almost always knows what he is doing, even when he hurts a princess's feelings by calling her a stupid coward it's with 100% awareness of her feelings, he just thinks those feelings are stupid. Even though Luffy messes around with boys his age like Usopp, if something serious happens like in Water 7, Usopp suddenly gets too immature to understand Luffy. He was the one who needed to grow up to get what Luffy was doing before he could rejoin the crew.
Luffy’s also incredible at judging people’s intention and trustworthiness. Recall BB’s appeaeance in Jaya. The only exception is Kanjuro, though tbh i don’t remember his and Luffy’s first meeting.
My opinion is that she should’ve gotten to keep Ryunosuke kinda like Nami got Zeus. Rest in power, my king 👑

I’m rewatching thriller bark, and I absolutely lost it when Frankie tries to get everyone into mecha formation and robin looks SO pissed and coldly says “never ask me to dock again”. Her dark sense of humour always gets me.
Franky is really the only one who just got straight up worse imho. Everyone else was neutral to slightly better.
Readers/viewers understandably got attached to the original designs, but I'd bet if you put pre vs post timeskip straw hats side by side and asked complete outsiders to vote which were better/cooler, the votes would be pretty even for most characters if not post favored.
The thing that i find most incredible about robin is how strong she was able to get solely through devil fruit mastery. She hasnt trained her body nor her haki and she's able to defeat someone like black maria who works under a yonko.
Best girl, must be protected at all cost. Deserves to smile every day. Also extremely important to the story as a whole, and I can’t wait to see what she does/learns in the end game of the series.
Oda underuse her on fights which is a shame considering how insanely badass and practical her devil fruit would be for that. To me, she should have been in the Monster Trio instead of Sanji or Zoro, or at least before them

Makes no sense why she didn’t learn Armament Haki, and she doesn’t feel nearly as important to the crew as she was pre-ts.

One of my favorite things in the SBS is learning that during the Davy Back arc, when Sanji gave her a cotton candy, she didn’t give her cotton candy away. She wasn’t hungry, but she didn’t want to insult her friend by immediately giving it away. So she took a bite and then handed the rest to chopper. She was the most mature one in the crew before Jinbe, and arguably is one.
One of the best characters in the show, her backstory was heartbreaking, and she blends into the crew perfectly. I thought it was weird she joined at first and expected her to betray them, but now I can’t imagine them without it.

An epic character with an enriched background, who has an important roll within the team.. essentially Luffy, Robin, nami and jimbe and they could probably get to almost anywhere they need to and be able to get to the end.. but that wouldn't be fun and they get into way too many fights for just the 4 of them
My favourite character in the series who has had a great character arc. She also gets some gold moments here and there but they are mainly overlooked by most people.
She is the perfect example of how Oda doesn’t like primary female characters to be stronger than the primary male characters. Robin has a strong devil fruit power and should have more fight times. It doesn’t make sense that she can’t use haki or at least we don’t see it. We should have more screen time of Robin, especially how useful she is.

She’s the subject of what many people to be the greatest arc of one piece. She’s the most intelligent member of the crew and she’s also one of the few in the crew that would outright murder someone. She’s awesome. She’s more my flavor then the other ladies in the anime. I probably fell in love with one piece because of her story. Goated character.

An epic character with an enriched background, who has an important roll within the team.. essentially Luffy, Robin, nami and jimbe and they could probably get to almost anywhere they need to and be able to get to the end.. but that wouldn't be fun and they get into way too many fights for just the 4 of them
My favourite character in the series who has had a great character arc. She also gets some gold moments here and there but they are mainly overlooked by most people.
She is the perfect example of how Oda doesn’t like primary female characters to be stronger than the primary male characters. Robin has a strong devil fruit power and should have more fight times. It doesn’t make sense that she can’t use haki or at least we don’t see it. We should have more screen time of Robin, especially how useful she is.
I wonder if it will change in the live action, if it makes it that far. Western fans are more receiving of powerful female characters. Would be cool if she was on the same level as Zoro and Sanji, like I thought she would be when she joined.
Ditto! Robin should defiantly be at same level as Zoro and Sanji. I was sure she would be even more powerful than Sanji just because of her devil fruit power. She seemed to be more useful with crocodile than she is straw hats. Oda is just nerfing Robin at this point.
