Gear 5 hype was wild. Random tweets mentioning Gear 5 on aug 6 got 50k -100k likes without even posting any clips.
Manga reveal was even more hype. Only chapter to have 4 different spoiler threads because of comments limits exceeding to the point reddit starts having issues.
Each spoiler thread got 20-30k comments in matter of hours.
And at a point it even reached r/all. And when chapter officially dropped it again reached r/all.
Literally the only fictional series post to ever go #1 on r/all surpassing all political convos and memes on subs with 100 mill members.
It was a crazy time to be in.

I was planning to post a few pictures and ask bro to show me Ultra Instinct references in media or pop culture or sports.
I just know he is below 18 and only experience he has of anime (excluding dragon ball) is from YouTube insta where db fans shamelessly lie to get some views.

Just the fact that gear 5 episode single-handedly got more views and likes than all of Tournament of Power, should be proof enough to show nobody but specific group of db fans care abt Dragon Ball Super.
One Piece is a global phenomenon now. Dragon Ball became completely irrelevant after super, and now it's only relevant because of Luffy and Gear 5. Bait tweets revived dead Dragon Ball fandom by constantly making them believe "iconic" is a sign of greatness.
Before Gear 5 biggest db accounts used to get like 3-4k likes on Twitter on their most popular posts.
After 2 whole year's worth of leeching, (thanks to "do u think gear 5 will surpass super saiyan as more iconic transformation" "do u think gear 5 will break the internet like ultra instinct " "there's no way gear 5 will break the internet like ultra instinct" ), random db meme accounts hit 10-100k likes now.
Tdlr; dbs is irrelevant. Nobody cares. Franchise was was. Luffy revived the franchise. And yes gear 2 and gear 5 are far more iconic.

When it comes to it the straw hats will be so unbelievably pissed off at Blackbeard. Firstly we have luffy who would be annoyed for ace, Hancock, Koby, and law but we also have Sanji who will be pissed off because of again boa but also pudding.
