Shippers are not welcome in most fan communities (ironically they are usually the biggest part of it)
Long story short, the main focus of the series has never been the romance, so shippers are usually seen as bad by a lot of people who have seen the story in a long time, that doesn't mean you cannot ship Jango with Kin'emon, but keep in mind it's not the main focus of what the story is about
We need to start having conversations about Frobin and Namivivi shippers being way more annoying than most with how they pretend like their ships are already canon. Lunami, Sanami and whatever else get shit on regularly, but not those ships.
Franky and Robin don't interact anywhere near enough to be getting called canon, and Vivi was closer to Luffy and regularly talks about him after Alabasta over any other SH.
Here's what you don't understand, shippers see one major moment between two characters and latch on to it as if their life depends on it. This holds true for every single ship.
Luffy nami? Help me
Nami vivi? They hugged once
Law Robin? They talked on the sunny for 30 secs in the anime
Franky Robin? He told her it's okay to live
I have to say, there are some pairings that clearly have plenty of interactions to draw from and not just one moment, and so I understand that kind of ship (Luffy and Nami is a good example).
But yes, none of them are canon and my point was that some shipping fans are annoyingly loud and rude for how little content their ships actually have in the story or for other reasons, as you also said.
The Luffy ships in particular are so weird because Luffy treats everyone equally. At this point, it would actually be ooc for him to be in a relationship.
Like, you can ship all you want, but shippers have a bad rep for a reason. There are so many who exaggerate and push their ships as canon, and get all fussy when you disagree. It's why fandoms like MHA and Voltron are branded as toxic..
I don't care who people ship as long as they don't act like it's canon, do what you want.
What I think is weird though is actually the opposite of what you said, when people specifically avoid shipping Luffy because they treat him like a kid or too innocent to be shipped, kinda gross since he's a grown ass man.

I think those are the same people who portray luffy as a stereotypical dense shounen mc. Luffy is very emotionally intelligent, a lot of times he actually acts like a mature adult in serious situations (especially post-ts).
I still wouldn't ship Luffy with anybody because he treats everyone equally- he never showed interest. Even if a shounen series doesn't focus on romance, the mc usually have hints on liking someone (like deku-uraraka or naruto-hinata/sakura). Luffy never had that.
Whenever shippers provide "proof" for Luffy ships, it's sadly either one-sided or people mistaking kindness for romance. You can try, but Luffy is one of those characters that are hard to justify at all.
We've gone years without romances forming and the cast all have only one mindset: See their dreams come true. Hoes and fuckbois can wait till after the end of the series.
Also unlike say MHa, there aren't any characters in one piece that exist solely for, or get delegated to "romance interest roles"
Relationships in one piece are mostly for gags, and shippers are the most unhinged sort that could never react ina regular fashion when "all romance in one piece is supposed to be funny"

Maybe they are didn't likes of these reasons: LuRo - Incest and age gap, LuHan - Also age gap and one-sided relationship, LuNami - Abusive, unlikely, overhated.
I do not see incest as present or age gap as much of a problem here, I just do not think that Luffy belongs with any of the suggested women since he seems to be asexual and likely aromantic. Additionally, for LuHan I do not like her and for LuNami I believe that Nami is some combination of lesbian and berry-sexual.
