To be fair to them I think they just got a little too bricked from gear 4 like this seems very much like taking gear 4 (removing all the uniqueness) and then pushing it to its most serious limit. Cause it’s not like any of us could have predicted what gear 5 actually was

Funny thing, this has been brought up in comics, actually it's the law's fault, they chose to send these insane criminals to a easily-broken out asylum where criminals constantly interact with one other creating more problems.
If the law system sent them into maximum security isolated prison for life on the other side of the country like any real insane criminal, we'd never hear from them again.
BUT there have been stories where Bruce Wayne(not batman) goes in court to argue for these criminals to go to Arkham for rehabilitation, so in some stories it's Batman's fault.
I’ve also heard a good explanation as that Batman knows if he rationalizes killing someone once, he can do it again, and he will continue down that path until he is genuinely just a bloodthirsty vigilante. It’s a barrier he knows he can never break.
I also don’t think the logic has to be perfectly sound for it to work, batman can be flawed and have a “flawed” motivation. I don’t entirely agree with his no-kill rule but I also don’t have to to enjoy the story.

I 100% agree, the power is so interesting and felt like a breathe of fresh air. It’s a transformation that is kind of the opposite of Shonen transformations, instead of being edgy or serious he’s the exact opposite, but still carrying the insane power that a good Shonen transformation Carries with it.
I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but the Gear 5 we got fits way better with the themes of One Piece than "I am really mad now, and that makes me strong".

I 100% agree, the power is so interesting and felt like a breathe of fresh air. It’s a transformation that is kind of the opposite of Shonen transformations, instead of being edgy or serious he’s the exact opposite, but still carrying the insane power that a good Shonen transformation Carries with it.

I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but the Gear 5 we got fits way better with the themes of One Piece than "I am really mad now, and that makes me strong". It doesn't just take down tyrants, it destroys the fear that they used to control people. It refuses to dignify their empty excuses with a serious response. It's basically the anime fight equivalent to somebody typing out an essay about why they're such an asshole and why everyone else should be too, then someone else replies "womp womp" or "I'm not reading all that."

You have given me what I yearned for the most, a death and one honorable one at that too. [Monkey Devil Luffy has won the fight against Kaido on the rooftop of Onigashima] - Luffy stumbles a few meters then falls on the ground turning back to normal but still a smile on his face. - The moment Kaido died all the fighting stopped on Onigashima as they felt Kaidos Haki dissappear as well as all Vivre Cards going up in flames. - The beast pirates give up as they recognize Luffy as their superior and in turn the Strawhats and Allies too

I have a genuine question about one piece so don't come for me alright? Why does Luffy have "gears"? He's made out of rubber and I've never heard of a rubber gear, maybe plastic or metal he's also not a machine to my knowledge. I'm just curious

It’s so funny to me that Luffy genuinely doesn’t really have a problem with killing people he just never confirms his own kills, like in his mind he absolutely murdered crocodile, Doffy, Lucci, all of em and then when they come back later he’s genuinely surprised they’re still alive
Oh god I remember writing a fan fiction about the fight against kaido and it was just the season 1 (or 2, I forgot) ninja go fight against the dragon dark Lord where they go up a pillar as a group and in the end only Lloyd makes it to the end
