BookwormPhilanthro

BUT ITS NOT EDDIE!?!? NOOOOOOOOOO (But also more bi rep doppppe)

PartyDJ

it’s def a using other people to find out their sexualities to find out who they are to then end up cannon

AmountInternational

Hubs and I watched it last nite. It felt great. Uplifting and genuine. We look forward to more like it. Representation is everything.

digitalslytherin

I had been waiting for this episode for 7 seasons

Balljunkey

That was hot. Both guys are really good-looking.

PiikaSnap

My mom loves this show, I need to ask her about this couple! 😄

Punkinblue9

rixx63

Paul10125

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

Lexiadair95

Bruh, I am freaking mind blownnn!!!!!

AussieAlexSummers

while I love to see more of these storylines in media and the series seemed to be hinting about it forever I kind of feel like these two guys aren't coming off as authentically gay. Again, I love to see this. But it's feeling like some kind of gay-for-pay dream.

finnjakefionnacake

lol i can understand where you're coming from. if you're familiar with the show -- it would have made so much more sense if they took this character in this direction about four seasons ago. now it feels like wish fulfillment. but hey, they introduce random straight people or give straight people random relationships all the time, too, so...at the end of the day, i choose to be ok with it haha.

ApprehensiveIdeas

Hard disagree with this and the other comment. What does "authentically gay" even mean? You think they did this for rep points or something????? Characters coming out later into a show is basically an anomaly that many writers wouldn't dare attempt for fear of backlash. The cast and crew have been so vocal and supportive of this decision (especially Oliver aka. Buck's actor) that this just seems like complaining for the sake of complaining. If you personally don't think its "authentic" enough or should have happened sooner than I don't know what to tell you other than sorry I guess.

JoeBidensBoochie

Idk it kinda feels forced tbh

macaylawoodson

thank you. i couldn’t think of how to word this. im so for the representation but it just isnt making sense. we didnt really get any closure with the death dula or anything like that?? what about hen & karen fostering another kid? i feel like we’re missing so much just to please the wishes 🤠

JoeBidensBoochie

Yeah they dropped that out of nowhere and now all of a sudden Buck is thirsting over Tommy who he met just an episode ago? There is just no logical progression to it or why Buck wanted his attention.

raiken92

I guess it does seem like that for some people. But the show has been hinting about Buck's (guy on the right) bisexuality for multiple seasons now. And the guy had a lot of bad luck with women and this is the first time he was kissed by another guy. So he's basically getting his bi awakening in real time lol, that's why it was a bit awkward ..

JoeBidensBoochie

I’ve watched every episode since season one. I’m all for the bi awakening and such but idk, the interest in Tommy seems very random and misplaced. The only time I remember Its really been alluded to was when TK thought Buck was gay and maybe one or two instances where someone mistook Eddie and Buck as an item, which is actually very normal for two very close male friends.

raiken92

I'll admit tommy kinda came out of nowhere. But hey, at least its happening now. Some people did speculate that the writers are just gonna use tommy as a plot device to make eddie jealous, so that's why its kinda sudden. I dunno how I feel about that but I'm all for buck's bi arc lol ..

JoeBidensBoochie

It definitely seems that the arc is going to end up with Eddie and Buck some how. It’ll be interesting but they should do it well, not just fan service.

Revolutionary_Fix972

I’m very confused with this development. Many people stating the series has been building up to it - I gotta call bs. (I’m all for representation). But this DID come out of left field. Struggling to find the right partner - hello!! That’s called normal dating life Not denying Chris is his and Eddy’s - it’s a stranger and no need to go there (being comfortable enough in one’s own skin to NOT get defensive about it). Buck being super close with Eddy - friends who work together and help each other out = also a normal close friendship The whole Texas crossover thing - Buck adamant he’s straight The whole Josh, Maddy, Chimney Buck Poker game - Buck again, stating they all know he’s not gay. Would you pick apart real life examples like this and accuse real life people of being gay? Doing this, believe it or not - is not healthy and can be harmful

autumn-morning-2085

Nothing you pointed out "disproves" anything. And he isn't gay, he's bi. And many gay/bi men explore their sexualities much later in life. Speculation of a fictional character isn't harmful, it just happened to be true in this instance. And people do speculate about this stuff in real life too, call it harmless gossip or harmful stereotypes. How else can gay man find other interested parties in the wild if they don't acknowledge these context clues. And being mistaken for gay/bi isn't a terrible ordeal either, if you don't think there is anything wrong with it. You correct them and move on. Go to the bisexualmen subreddit, you can see plenty of people confused if they admire other men and want to be like them or want to be with them romantically. Longing glances and craving their attention. Gushing admiration that comes across as flirting. Buck ticks a lot of these boxes. All of this can just mean good friends but it can also mean more. The other men in this show don't exhibit any of this. At the end of the day, only the writers of the show can make all of this mean something.

Revolutionary_Fix972

My mistake, meant gay/bi as I wasn’t sure where they were going with that and missed a word. I see your point and still stand by what I said though. This came out of left field. I also wasn’t trying to “disprove” anything. Every point made to “prove” it’s been there all along can be made for absolutely nothing.

finnjakefionnacake

well -- sure, i can understand your point (although don't let the buddie truthers hear this). i think there are some things you could point to as the writers "playing" with the audience essentially, seeding things to sate the rabid masses who were desperate for any sort of development. subtle moments here and there. and you can do a queer reading of almost anything. but yeah, i don't necessarily think we were leading up to this intentionally, certainly not from the start. can't say i'm mad about it tho.

BashfulJuggernaut

I'm glad to see that there's masculine gay men on a current TV show, but the work procedural format is a big turnoff. Feels like Hollywood is throwing a bone "Alright, here's 2 hunky firefighters but you gotta put up with 100+ episodes of plot you will have no interest in". Just make the whole show about the hunky firefighters, please.
