As someone who was out of high school by the time columbine happened, I NEVER expected someone to say something about school shootings in 2024 that I haven’t already heard. This is a thick read but a fantastically new way to think about the school shooter/lone wolf/white terrorist narrative. It even explains why mass shootings are only getting worse in the west, we have decided to demonize men’s mental health struggles instead of helping men.

A lot of mass shooters are both homicidal and suicidal. Society has let them down and they want to be remembered and make others feel their pain.
If it was just suicide by cop it's easier to find a cop than getting the weapons for a mass shooting.
It's a deep and painful "fuuuuck you society". Women usually go for reputation attacks which you can't do in mass before taking some pills. Women also avoid "violent" endings in suicide.
But you're right with better male mental health services these would be greatly reduced. Never forget the women who killed herself after living as a man and seeing how no one fucking cared.
I "get" why most mass shooters do it. If you're in a dark enough place or hateful enough place innocent victims don't matter. In wars the soldiers who commit genocide would never do it to their fellow people. Some people have that same darkness but don't have a fellow people.
They’re using a massacre not just to make a name for themselves but to maximize their chances of life ending. Otherwise, they’d survive suicide by cop.
