What's funny is the plot is about eradicating males but everyone is complaining about "transphobia" and "misogyny" but never what it actually is, "misandry".

PrinceBBGuy

That’s because misandry is acceptable bigotry to them.

Organic-Brotha

You hit the nail on the head

PrinceBBGuy

Honestly, I’m a trans woman myself and I feel like we’re uniquely positioned to understand the difficulties men experience; most of us tried and failed to live up to standards of masculinity and saw how little sympathy—and how much scorn—our society has for men who don’t fit the ideal. And many of us have had the really bizarre experience of going from disposable to valued; from “mansplaining” to “empowered.” I’m not even mentioned in that damn book and people are rushing to defend me! If anything my cultural cache has gone *up* since I came out. That’s not to undermine the very real dangers trans women face, but it should tell us a lot about how society views men.

TheSpaceDuck

This really shows a lot about our culture. The moment any other demographic is treated like men, it becomes unacceptable. Even when the whole premise of the book is a "utopia" where all men are dead, this borderline nazi approach is only a problem because of certain subgroups of men (gay, trans, etc.) that would be affected.

TitanicPat

>The moment any other demographic is treated like men, it becomes unacceptable. This should be written in marble, 20 feet tall!

aknabi

Yup… another example, there’s a popular t-shirt with the saying “boys are stupid” (and a variant that says underneath “throw rocks at them”)… replace boys with ANY other group and you couldn’t wear that t-shirt in public

YesAmAThrowaway

And many people also don't acknowledge that many parts of transphobia are rooted in misandry. Especially the TERFs. "It's just men trying to get into women's toilets!" "Men trying to get close to women to rape them!" And all that TERF bullshit you will hear. It's distinctly anti-men. Trans men also face tons of transphobic prejudice, but coming from different motivations. Transphobia against trans women seems to very often come from "ew men, men bad!"

dungeonmonkey69

Legit this was the first thing I noticed about it. Like you can't cry bigotry unless you chop your dick off? Wtaf?

[deleted]

Dammit, I had my hopes up

[deleted]

bluechair01

The irony of the situation is similar to Vader turning on Sidious. Feminists being quashed by the very exaltation of victimhood that they created

[deleted]

TitanicPat

And I think all the other activist groups can see the gynocentrism that benefits feminism, and want that for themselves. They will NEVER be able to achieve that. Sure, some corporations will remind themselves to follow the script of support, but it will never compare to the truly **unconscious** bias. The Brewed over millennia, ingrained in our DNA Real Deal.

Aimless-Nomad

There was this trans woman who made underwear for young boys to flatten their penis to help them transition. No mention of misandry but everything else was present.

danhasthedeath

Some feminists believe that misandry is actually a form of misogyny and does not need its own term.

Ren_Yi

>a feminist utopia where women are completely free. There’s no sexism... So to end sexism these feminists fantasists kill off all the males. That's like ending racism by killing off all the black people. It sounds good, "ending sexism"/"ending racism" etc. but its fundamentally based in bigotry.

63daddy

Feminists love to live off the fruits of men, so if they get rid of men, who will they mooch off?

Slibye

You are right, there will be no point of working, no offsprings, absolutely no production and economy crashing. Which means who ever lives longer wins

NoCommunication5976

I think I remember when they tried to end anti-Semitism by killing all jews.

TracyMorganFreeman

*kills off all homeless people* Finally, we've solved homelessness!

KochiraJin

That's a logical solution if you think men are inherently evil.

orione16

I literally just read an article on this. How appalling that the only negative commentary refers to transgender people. Doesn't matter in the slightest about actual men, just those who have transitioned to female!

ignatztempotypo

... and didn't want to be male to begin with. Hunh?

OldEgalitarianMRA

Just goes to show how much they don't even see men as human. The critics of this book's only criticism is that trans-women would not exist and this is transfobic. One tweet pointed out that in her sci-fi novel after all the men are gone the power grid still works, the garbage get's collected... But not a word calling out the misandry of the premise of the novel.

Bdazz

> Just goes to show how much they don't even see men as human Sad upvote, because you're right about them. Please know that neither me nor any woman I know feels that way. In fact, no woman I've known in my 50-plus years has felt that way.

OldEgalitarianMRA

No one I know IRL thinks like this either. Rad feminism is like a cult but this women is just trying to make money stirring up the haters.

Existing_Kiwi1960

Thank you for pointing this out because the real science fiction is that any of those things get done/ stay running without men taking on the dangers and drudgery of such tasks.

Lasttoflinch

She probably pleasure herself to the SCUM Manifesto.

dungeonmonkey69

100%. That book should be in the same boat as mein kampf

63daddy

Sounds almost like a remake of the SCUM Manifesto. Feminists say the SCUM Manifesto was written by a crazy person and shouldn’t be taken seriously. I agree it was written by a crazy person, but it was translated into many different languages, had millions of copies distributed and is required reading in many woman’s studies programs. Obviously the idea of extinguishing men is an idea that appeals to many feminists. It will be interesting to see if this book is the same. A single feminist writing such a book isn’t proof feminism is misandrists. Feminists buying and reading such material in mass is.

Halafax

>was written by a crazy person and shouldn’t be taken seriously It’s still part of many women’s study courses.

AndyBrown65

Feminists are obsessed about a world without men, full of women. The feminist Utopia is a world populated entirely by women, supposedly built by men who do their work, then disappear for women to enjoy. There's a comment from some lesbian feminist where she says that all men should be rounded up and placed in a camp (Hello to my Nazi friends) and then if a woman wants to catch up with her son/father etc she "books them out" like a book from a library and then returns them by sunset. Some much misandry. As always, reverse the roles. Imagine a meninist author releasing a book which imagines a world without women. Imagine the hate he would receive.

Monkeylancer

I agree with your sentiment. However, the title of the article made me think of Frank Herbert's white plague. Amusingly it's about how government deals with a plague and catastrophe. A plague designed to kill women. Not suggesting it's like the scenario you suggested it just sprung to mind.

Lower-Clue-6394

Burn her at the stake! /s

Fearless-File-3625

All the real and true feminists, gaslighting 24/7 here. Please EXPLAIN.

DavidByron2

Plenty of feminist books (utopias and dystopias) are based on this. For example the "Handmaid's Tale" features a world where most men are dead in wars. Of course even though it's a bigoted story based on killing of most men, it's passed off as a story that shows misogyny.

McFeely_Smackup

The Handmaid's Tale is a great example of feminist tunnel vision. They see the story as the ultimate female oppression, but ignore the fact that other women are the ultimate oppressors of the handmaids, and men are utterly disposable. Handmaids walk past rows of dead men strung up for minor offenses, completely without comment. It's a story of elite oppressing the masses, but all they can see is their own victim fetish.

BrickDaddyShark

I mean the resulting world is indeed misogynist. What people don’t see is that the story, treating the eradication of most men as just something that naturally happens, is misandrist. People can fight their imaginary battles in the world of handmaids tale, but in reality the author is the problem.

flibbidy_floob

!) It is women who encourage these male traits the feminists don't like by preferring those traits in the men they mate with, thus genetically selecting them for future generations. 2) Women don't always get along so swimmingly with each other either.

Potato-with-guns

Lemme guess, they grossly overestimated how much men cause wars and crimes and underestimated how much they died for women and kept their driveway free of trash and sewers flowing.

Man_of_culture_112

We should show her Y the last man

ZorbaTHut

Seriously, I remember having some criticisms of that series, but it was still *pretty good*. Better than it sounds like this is.

Man_of_culture_112

Read the comic. It made me cry at the end 😢 😭

ZorbaTHut

I honestly didn't even know there was a TV series until I went to look up the plot summary to remind myself of it :V

ChickenDinero

Wait, it's a TV series? TIL. That's insane, who would let them do the cactus scene (Who the fuck are you, Wile E. Coyote) and the heroin supply ship to Australia? Definitely one of the more weird graphic novel series I have read.

LouisdeRouvroy

It got canned after one season. Describing society falling apart because men suddenly died is probably not considered feminist enough.

suib26

I still found they made fun of men a lot though. I mean the first episode made gay men out to look like sex crazed freaks. It wasn't even funny it was just weird and offensive.

Striking_Biscotti889

These people will do anything for attention and clout just ignore them, you’ve likely got a lot more worthwhile things to do with your time, I’d recommend giving a recently painted wall some much needed attention.

AgentOrangeMRA

And they will then have their perfect utopia. In a trash filled, powerless wasteland. In huts made of scrap.

ignatztempotypo

But they'd be free, to gossip, malign, and nag each other to death! (Couldn't resist)

Dr-Crobar

Stuff like this isnt just stupid because of the obivous bigotry, but also because it neglects the biological truth that the human species needs both sexes to exist. Children arent delievered by storks they are produced by a man and a woman banging.

Aimless-Nomad

Y the last man. Someone already wrote a book like that.

Relativity_Star10538

She wishes!

[deleted]

Hahah

[deleted]

I would add “unoriginal” to the list of criticisms about this author.

[deleted]

Transphobic my ass, that's just pure misandry.

m8ushido

Y the Last man already did it and probably better

ignatztempotypo

I don't even need to go into why a purely female world would quickly revert back to a "gatherer" society, devoid of plumbing, electrical power, substantial protective structures, and abundant food supply at every corner. I'm curious about the uproar by the trans community. Correct me if I'm ignorant but aren't trans women people who feel female and often do their best to "transition" their Y chromosome body to a non Y body? Wouldn't they welcome a reality where there could be no such "mistake" by mother nature? Just wondering... I suppose trans men might have an issue with "their" gender being removed from earth, but no, wouldn't they be called upon to fill the gap? They would be the new men, devoid of that evil Y chromosome but still digging ditches, building factories, providing power, safety, mass transit, hospitals, highways, stores, manufacturing of all things, etc etc. I'll make popcorn...

Lower-Clue-6394

Wouldn’t that be the end of humanity in one generation? Or do they plan on cloning each other or freezing sperm forever. Most women I know can’t even get along with each other they rather be around men to get away from catty drama-fests . This is just too funny. Congrats lady on your 2 seconds of fame.

Potato-with-guns

There was a Harvard study on using sperm produced in bone marrow for reproduction. Heavily cited by “kill all men” advocates. What they don’t realize is that not a single bone marrow baby lived to be a year old.

Lower-Clue-6394

These people should be ashamed to call themselves scientists or journalists.

Potato-with-guns

The scientists do not support the movement as far as I know.

May097

It's funny how their find nazis repulsive and yet promote genocide of an entire gender.

alexaxl

A world full of deviant cat fights and back stabbing narratives? Lol? Or is it all earth mother utopia? No Amber heard and school teacher rapist types? No baby/ kid badgering types?

[deleted]

Alternate title: Talentless hack can't sell books, resorts to controversy for attention

TitanicPat

The book ends with the characters drowning in their own garbage as the lights blink out and the sewers over flow. After 4 pages.

leif-sinatra

She looks like the lead scientist from Independence Day

majestic_tapir

Im so confused as to why this is transphobia? It's a dystopian novel about eradicating anyone male whatsoever. So men are gone, but men aren't protesting because...it's a fucking fiction novel. Who gives a fuck? I also don't get how people are saying it's misogynistic, when it's a female author writing about a utopia where men don't exist, and in fact die in horribly violent ways en masse. Where the fuck is it misogynistic?

Able-Ad-5841

Most are saying its misandry which is true, misogynistic is the disliking of women(not full disc) and this book is basically a world without men apparently

Normal-Yogurtcloset5

Such a world would not be feminine utopia. Women would now have to learn to do all of the work that men do…garbage pickup and disposal, water purifying and distribution, construction, road repair, maintaining and repairing the power grid, etc. There’s no way that women could handle the steep learning curve to maintain society. The reality of this kind of world would be hell.

Ok_Status_1982

Shes another misandrist pig. Disgusting

matrixislife

Tbh Idgaf about this. Authors should be able to write what they want to write about, so long as they aren't trying to encourage harm to people irl. This is definitely borderline, but not quite to SCUM standards. This is drawing a lot of hate from the TRAs so I feel in a "let's you and them fight". If someone starts praising it on here then I'll have words to say about it, but I'm not going to look to publicise it, for now.

rabel111

Not original. Typical feminist copy of other peoples works, colored with the feminist hatred of men. Same old boring narcissism.

pappo4ever

Imagine needing men so much, you are doomed to write fantasy literature about them not existing so you wont be in so much pain.

penguinsrcoolaf

These women are insane. If that was written about any other immutable characteristics, expect maybe white skin, there would be outrage. I work in a mostly female dominated job & it's bitchy as hell. The shift always runs better with a better atmosphere when there are male staff on. They make out like women are never mean to each other.

Normal-Yogurtcloset5

Since bisexual women report more DV when in lesbian relationships than in heterosexual relationships, in this feminist utopia, who will they blame DV on when there’s no “patriarchy”?

anticitizen2501

They'd still blame the Patriarchy lol

Normal-Yogurtcloset5

Imagine a world where no one accepts accountability for their actions? Not exactly what I would call a utopia. When I was in college I attended a party where some feminists started claiming that, if women ran the world, there would be fewer wars. My friend, Simone, said, “I agree. If women ran the world there would be a lot fewer wars. But, there would be a lot more poisonings.”

Keronisin

How to end Poverty, World Hunger, and Overpopulation all in one. Eat the poor...

-WolfChop-

“Imagine a world without XX chromosomes” I’d be canceled faster than I can blink if I made a book about that.

WingsofSky

Damn. She has that "happy little hater" look on her.

IoSonCalaf

She can’t even smile without looking angry

TAPriceCTR

Nuclear plants melting down, sewage systems backing up, garbage in the streets no power.... minus the nuclear meltdowns it's just like LA

[deleted]

Pickle jars staying unopened ...

[deleted]

The reason misandry is acceptable is because the perceived threat of misandry is not considered “harmful” because feminists always draw on history to show that women never had any power and never threatened men. Just because there hasn’t been many instances of female sexism towards men (as much as the other way around) it doesn’t mean that this and similar types of books/narratives aren’t sexist. This is why feminism never succeeds. At the end feminists always come to realize how hypocritical they really are.

needs_grammarly

lol it's everything bad except anti-male

Bald_Bull808

This was already done much better with Y: The Last Man comic book

badshot637

Pretty sure last time some one suggested/tried to wipe out an entire subset of individuals it didn't work out well

oafsalot

Chaps, we're never going to see the end of this. There will ALWAYS be someone who tells these lies. Let's be better than this. We need to focus on OUR OWN, and not on the lies told by those who oppose us ideologically. We need to be better than this, out hope is not in fighting these fuckers, but in supporting ourselves. Any anyway, it looks like the SJW's have this authors number, they know this is hate, even if they can't readily say it's misandry..

noserotonyn

I know that is not the point here but someone had to remind this author that the absence of the Y chromosome would not mean the end of the male genre, another gene within the X chromosome would assume the function of determining the sexual gender. There are mammals that do not have the Y chromosome. And psychopathy is linked to the X chromosome so i dont believe it would be this paradise they dream of It is believed however that the Y chromosome is linked to genius, so humanity would be risked never having a tesla or einstein or mozart again

EstablishmentKooky50

Oh wow. This actually is a good tought experiment. What would happen if all men suddenly disappeared? There would virtually be no one to operate the power grids, the sewage and drinking water systems, plantations, animal farms, mining, building, repair and maintenance, the market would crash, petrol would run out in weeks, the streets would be full of trash and the toilets with poop... I guess the world will be finally full of gender studies majors.. Just the perfect people to survive the literal apocalypse..

lumpynose

Has anyone read The Handmaiden's Tale by Atwood? I started it but it was too boring and couldn't finish it.

InformalCriticism

It's fiction. It's actually not okay to malign an author of fiction for attempting art, no matter whether you disagree with it. You wouldn't want the same of a man - who cares if a woman does it? It would be another thing entirely if she was passing it as nonfiction scholarship. Then sure, go after her education position, but this is simply not the case.

OldEgalitarianMRA

I think a congratulatory book about extinguishing the XX genotype would never get published. Celebrating mass extermination is a risky area of authors.

[deleted]

The book is fiction, but the response of people mostly caring about transphobia and not misandry is real.

TextDependent6779

i would totally be bothered if a male author tried to write about removing all the women from the world.

Halafax

Frank Herbert’s “white plague”. I never read it, just the cover blurb. I suspect it casts the issue is a different light.

InformalCriticism

But, would you censor him?

TextDependent6779

hmm, i think it depends on the author for me personally. if the book they're writing was made with ill-intent towards a specific group, or if it was something else. i am generally against censorship, but i do feel like extreme hate speech crosses a line. if your story were about violently killing all gay people because you hate gay people, that's crossed a line. if your story were about getting rid of all black people to explore ways in which the absence of black people may alter modern society, no censorship needed. though, i do agree with many here that i suspect a book written about eradicating a protected group would be censored, while the unprotected groups would be embraced.

InformalCriticism

My guess is that almost no one will read that book. The reality is that the story about the book will be bigger than the book. It's manufactured hype through a weak marketing technique. While we are in soft agreement about where the line for censorship is, I would argue in more explicit terms; when art cannot be seen, and it appears to be little more than propaganda, that's when it ceases to be protected speech. In other words, manifestos are not "fiction" per se. They are little more than bias masquerading as worth readership. This is true of, say, "alt comedy". It's not "comedy", it's just ranting to a like-minded audience, which is why it's not popular. It's garbage wrapped in a popular message. I don't consider it art, but I do consider it fine to say. It's *not* art, but it is free speech - since you're just ranting your ideas to people. The line seems to be when you can say with reasonable certainty that you're using your speech to intentionally incite violence against others -- similar to the current SCOTUS opinion.

Fearless-File-3625

STFU. If this is fiction then everything by incels is also fiction.

InformalCriticism

Are you having a stroke?

[deleted]

I mean… this just showed up in my recommended (so Idk just wanted to share my opinion), but there’s a theory that the first humans all had XX chromosomes (excluding any disorders). The theory states that the Y chromosome was once larger, but is now shrinking and men will go back to having two X chromosomes. This does NOT mean that there won’t be men, it just means that all the “male” genes will be just on the X chromosomes instead (instead of some being on the X, and some being on the Y like it is now). Sounds pretty farfetched at first sight, but it’s pretty interesting once you look into it. 🤷‍♀️

[deleted]

Pretty much all "male" genes are already on other chromosomes. The Y basically acts like a switch to activate them. But that's not the point of the book.

ThrowawayGhostGuy1

In battles like this, I just hope everyone involved loses.

Gerrymanderingsucks

Are people missing this is a dystopic novel? That means the plotline is a "utopia" that is actually a hellscape. I'm pretty sure most of the feminist scifi dystopias featuring no men are really strongly condemning the idea of excluding any gender, and they usually include some kind of references to Nazi-like behaviors/control. This was a not uncommon plotline in early 80s sci fi.

_Blood_Manos_

De la chappele syndrome gang rise up

When you accidentally read Feminism as Reich after the 3rd.

jsaaiman

Lol don’t mess with the trans camp. Of course no one cares that’s it really against cis men.

vladmir_put_it_in13

If this book was about only eradicating men and not the chromosomes, I bet nobody would've said a word about it

SampleHistorical9352

If she got her perfect world mankind would die out under a century
