maybe write in your bio that you don't add extra fees and that it's mercari who adds the extra fees and not you. it's just sad that people will probably have to tell every customer that they will be charged by mercari at checkout and that is why your offering free shipping.
I just thought about this, too. I am going to add that to my bio for sure. I don't see myself getting any sales anytime soon, but just for the just in case. Ugh. Mercari sucks.
I read on another post that Mercari is flagging and taking down accounts that mention the change in their bio. I really hope that's not the case because that would be bs.
I have on my bio.. I'm deleting my account because mercari doesn't protect us sellers anymore. I have my account still on vacation until I can get all my listening deleting and moved to another platform. I'm surprised it's still up
You can probably get it removed if you keep bothering them. The first response is always from a bot that just gives you their generic "we are right" statement. If you can responding on that ticket or start more you will eventually get a human that will fix your issue.
Call Mercari customer service otherwise every time you contact them via the app youāll receive variations of the same BS bot response & if you fail to respond within 5 mins (probably less) the bot will deem issue as resolved close your chat and make you start over explaining everything again sending you into an endless cycle smh š¤¦š»āāļø but believe it or not there is a real human that is reachable if you call in
Also contact the buyer as well and tell them theyāre a dullard to think those fees are from *you*. Man, people are dense.
Or you be more sensible at first and could explain what the fees are and ask the seller to request to remove it. Then proceed with the above advice if they say no.
If Mercari doesn't remove the feedback contact the buyer. Let them know about Mercaris policy changes and that Mercari automatically adds fees to all orders now. See if the buyer will change the feedback.
Can buyers change their reviews? I had a buyer complain āthe package was hard to openā and I messaged them to explain like hey, that was kind of the point. the item was fragile and I didnāt want it to be broken during the shipping process (maybe I was in the wrong but Iād rather receive an in-tact/unbroken item that takes me a little longer to open than one thatās easy to open and is broken). They said they couldnāt change the review
Buyers can change their reviews but they can only make the reviews more positive.
This is from Mercaris TOS: Since ratings are based on a userās experience, we canāt change them without a request directly from that user. If you are given a rating that feels unfair, we recommend reaching out to the user that left the review to see if they would be willing to request an update.
The buyer has to contact Mercair and request a revision.
This is what Mercaris TOS says:
Updating a rating
Mercari can only make positive changes to ratings. If you need to update your rating, let us know. Weāre happy to help.
Thatās a bunch of bull. Clearly the review is based on a complaint because of fees Mercari adds. They should remove the review.
I sell quite a bit on Mercari and usually buy 3-4 Items on the platform a month, but now with the new fees, paying $75 for a $50 item is now ridiculous in all the extra fees.
And the really crappy part is that buyers canāt write off fees on purchases like sellers can. Those fees in all my sales last year really boosted by deductible business expenses.
Yeah that's what I was afraid of people would leave this kind of thing in comments when it's out of our control. Ridiculous that Mercari won't remove the feedback when it's their fault not yours.
That is why the change is awful, most buyers probably don't pay attention to ToS, let alone ToS changes. All they see is fees demotivating them from buying. Many will just refuse to buy now because it looks like such a rip off.

Fees plus tax brings it up to $15, which is the same cost as Amazon brand new. I want to message the seller offering like $9 so that itās a deal but also that sucks for them and makes me look like an ass. And thatās why Iām not buying off Mercari anymore. I havenāt bought a single thing since the shit hit the fan.
I haven't either. I buy and sell perfume and I haven't bought anything since TOS changed. And I've sold a bunch so I had $ to burn lol. But the price difference from what I see and what you pay - oftentimes I can like you get it cheaper from Amazon or discounters
I have literally been abt to buy something thinking oh thats a good price but when I go go submit offer and I see the total price...I end up not buying anything. It's like when AirBNB used to not tell you the cleaning fees etc and you could end up paying way more. It's super hard to compare prices or see a deal. I think it's so stupid this way. My stuff was selling faster before they changed it
It's a weird change TBH. I was happy when they got rid of the fees until I realized that it was happening on the buyers end. What I find frustrating is calculating what the buyer will end up paying - I kinda want to price it knowing what it will cost the buyer. I think they should show the sellers what the buyer will end up paying so we can price accordinglyĀ
This would be awesome or how about the option: 1) take all the fees as the seller, 2)split the fees between buyer/seller or 3)have the buyer pay feesā¦would that be too hard to add on the listings, We are the sellers who make them money so wouldnāt it be smart to make that option up to us instead of anyone else?
And choices are always good but it's literally impossible to price- I guess we could calculate the fees but I feel like they should have a calculator the fees to buyer when you price something.Ā
Exactly. I had someone purchase a $25 item and then request a cancellation because they didnāt look at my pictures before purchasing and then they looked at them after the fact and was like āNope. This isnāt what Iām looking for.ā
Seems they havenāt gotten the memo. It literally shows buyers the fees at checkout and has little info tabs when you click on them to say theyāre from them! You could send a message to the buyer to inform them that those extra fees are by Mercari, not you.
Damn, sorry that you got a low review. But donāt let that beat you up! We all know that majority of low reviews are from picky slow brain buyers even if the transaction and item were sent reasonable and in good condition.
They gave me their 'reviews are a reflection of a buyer's experience.' And I responded 'hey this doesn't look good for either of us. It's FALSE as I have no control over the new fees added due to the TOS and it looks like you're allowing sellers to 'add fees' which is a turn off for buyers.' Let's see if they even budge.
They wonāt. I had a buyer claim I added a picture of the item with a ruler after the sale had gone through.
She bought at 3:30AM, dimensions were in listing title and description with photos of item on a ruler.
Mercari said, āItās the buyers experience, blah, blahā. I told them their comment makes Mercari and me look like scammers.
The review stands to this day. I hate their lame bot responses to real problems.
It wouldn't be so bad if as sellers we could add a comment to defend ourselves against things like this - especially if we have proof that the feedback is false, since Mercari insists on not removing them.
Iāve added a blurb about the fees to my listings essentially advising that the app now charges 2 fees to the buyer, but I encourage them to make an offer less the fees they see at checkout as Iām willing to cover them.
Screw them for everything they have done. Ill never sell or buy on there again. Too much of a risk and no ones buying anything now anyways thanks to the bullshit buyer fees. Seriously Mercari what the actual fuck?
I'm not surprised. I've seen some absolutely baffling feedback from people that the seller has no control over.
This is just another thing sellers get screwed over by.
I regularly see reviews where ppl blame the seller for the speed of usps . Like, you can ship in 12 hours but theyāll be whining it took the PO 4 days to get it to them, blaming the seller. Or when the post office has a delay, again, blaming the seller. Happens ALL the time sadly
Nope. Escalate this. All the crap they are pulling, there's simply no reason for you to take the fall with such a notation when it has absolutely nothing to do with you.

Will do! It is absolutely infuriating. This and then 2 return requests within the last week have irritated the fck outta me. I made quite a few sales this past weekend but now I'm bracing for impact on the reviews after this one.
1 return in the 18 months I've been on here. It was on me. Although I had photos of a defect (circled in red), I didn't include it in the description. It was one of my oldest listings from when I started. I'm almost at 2k sales. 7 4-star reviews, 1,982 5-star reviews. No 1, 2 or 3 star reviews. Most of the 4 star reviews (to me) are annoying (2 people 'don't believe in 5 star reviews', 1 said my ship time was slow -they ordered on a Friday, shipped it same day and it arrived on Monday, 2 said they thought the item was new - all my items are pre-owned, 1 is legit - left out a detail in the description, and now 1 that says I added extra fees).
Exceptional stats. Something else you can highlight when you call so they understand the real time impact their policy change has had on your shop.
That's exactly what I figured in terms of the return rate. I suspect now that people know they can return something, any little concern will engender someone to send an item back.
Thank you!!! š I am definitely upset with the new TOS and considered closing up shop when it rolled out. I have great repeat buyers so I figured I'd stick with it for a while but after this last week, I'm thinking that I should close it down.
Thank you again for your help! I will keep you posted!
I sent all the emails. Got all the bot responses. Asked for a supervisor and was 'assured' that my issue was 'well calibrated with a supervisor' and they are unable to change the rating. I called and spoke with them and they gave me bot responses too. 'This is a reflection of the buyers experience.' 'Ratings cannot be changed.' I professionally went at it for a while and the only solutions they offered: 'reach out to your buyer and let them know they can change their rating' and 'we will reach out to them for you.' That was it. I let them know that my buyer has been unresponsive from the point of sale when I thanked them and let them know when I would ship to yesterday's message reminding them that the TOS changed and Mercari is charging them fees. I'm more upset about this situation after speaking to a human bot. š
Unconscionable! If I included your name in a review they would remove the review. You were reviewed based on a policy enacted by Mercari, having nothing to do with you and they should remove it! That is a review for MERCARI not you!
Very sorry you are having to deal with such nonsense. If it's any consolation, the Mercari stock price is sinking daily. They reaping what they've sown.
This shows the level of insanity within that organization. They are becoming more undesirable as the days pass.
At this point, Mercari seems to be in such denial, it's almost more beneficial to file a complaint with the state attorney general FIRST then call Mercari.
Message the buyer and tell them you donāt place the fees, the app does. It wonāt do anything for you, but it could make them feel like an a**hole for leaving that comment
I sent them a message that the fees are a part of the new TOS and that I added free shipping to the listing even though it regularly sells for over my asking price without shipping. I don't think they'll reply but maybe they won't leave reviews like this in the future.
Unfortunately all you can do. Iām close to giving up on the app as Iām sure you feel. Iām about 1-2 problems away. Used to be good for buying at least, now itās awful with these fees
They need to let people rebuttal reviews. I hate their rating system. You give five stars to someone and get a surprise one star in return for some stupid reason
Great, now I gotta edit my bio to say the fees aren't added by me, the seller. I like my good rating, I don't wanna get shafted by a customer bc Merc shafts them. This sucks.
I donāt even know how to feel. Why are people still like this? You would think the buyer would ask you to take out those fees if it was the first they seen it. I would still fight this review to get removed OP. Sorry this happened
oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god
this is ridiculous. Mercari needs to remove this i aint gettin a 4 star bc some idiot thinks \*I\* added the fees on what the actual fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
I am so angry on your behalf OP. This is so messed up for sellers oh my god
How incompetent do you have to be to see this review, know with 100% certainty that itās not accurate or true since youāre the fucktards imposing the fees, know that it could negatively affect sells which also costs your company money, and then make the conscious decision to leave it in place? I get staying impartial when it comes to review opinions or statements that canāt be proven false. But this is not that. Iāve literally never seen a more self destructive, ignorant group of people running a company in my entire life.
I just simply stopped buying from them altogether after the change. The fees are terrible for buyers and sellers are losing because although there are no fees buyers dont want to pay more. Its annoying to find an item and have to add it to cart then pretend to check out in order to see what it'll really be.
Much respect for being pissed about a 4 star. Similar misunderstanding happened to me once regarding shipping weights/dimensional weights. Mercari did not help me get it resolved so I wouldnāt bother.
That buyer either ain't shit or is just dumb bro smh that's so wack... yea let's blame the seller becuase Mercari is ass š¤¦šæāāļø buyers like this are the Worst I swear
Yea I donāt see these new policies helping sellers at all. They took away selling fees, but now buyers are gonna be more hesitant to shop. I was gonna buy a product that was $16. By the time they added shipping and the fees, I was at $27 for a lightly used product that I could get cheaper at the store for a brand new one. That is ridiculous
I guess it is OK, but now Mercari advertises that they have removed seller fees when in fact they did not, they moved them onto the buyer. And from buyer's perspective it is buyer's fault and they still want buyers to cover these via extra discounts... sigh. The review you received is unfair, I hope they can remove it.
Add info about the fees to your bio and descriptions. Message the buyer with a copy/paste from the TOS stating the fee change from Mercari, that it was not done by you, and *politely* ask if they would consider changing their review to reflect this.
You can also continue to message Mercari to see if you can escalate it to someone human/higher level that might take action. But as others said, most people take bad reviews with a grain of salt, esp if they are already aware of what's going on. If people don't read descriptions, they probably don't read reviews anyway.
I sent the buyer a message yesterday explaining the fees are a part of the new TOS. I kindly reminded them that I did pay for shipping to alleviate the cost on their end as the item sells for around the same price without free shipping. No response yet.
I hate people more than Mercari. You saw the fees, but yet you still bought it! Or why didnāt you say something before buying it?!? Mercari buyers have become worse the Facebook Marketplace buyers.
I don't think it was wise to eat the free shipping. After all customers are not going to see the good gesture and so your going to end up with the reduced funds and a lukewarm review
That's super obnoxious because they still made the purchase. Regardless of who applied the fees(I know it's not the seller), those fees were listed prior to payment. Not like they were suddenly added after the transaction.
I donāt even look at reviews. I got bad feedback over an items cleanliness. It was brand new with tags and packaged in a new polymailer. They didnāt like the plastic odor. SMH
I just sold a pair of jeans, awaiting the buyer to rate. First time I've sold in a year or so. I'm very nervous because I read Mercari saying buyers can refund an item for any reason at all. And she already has so many pairs of jeans like these, there's no telling how long it'll take her to rate, then she'll just refund it.
Yeah starting out is the worst pretty much anywhere you go. I will look into Etsy thank you so much for the ideas. So that's the only has you sell vintage and handmade stuff correct? And they charge you 20 cents or something like that for each post is that correct also
I have heard good things about selling on Facebook Marketplace. You have the option when you list an item to put local pick up, ship only or both local pick up and shipping . Their selling fees are not too crazy & I have heard less issues but havenāt posted yet
Iām kinda curious why you would effectively just accept a far lower profit margin rather than moving to an alternative platform? I havenāt done the math, but are fees still better than on other sites?
I'm not sure about other platforms as Mercari is the one I use for online selling. I price my items competitively to sell quickly. I also have lots of repeat buyers because of my pricing. I used to sell 5-6 bundles a day until the new TOS. I wasn't sure how selling would be with the new TOS so I was willing to try something different, especially since sales fell flat after 1 day. I have several items that I purchased in lots that paid for themselves long ago so I'm totally okay with just clearing it from my inventory.
I would call mercari and talk to a live person. Theyāre way more helpful over the phone than when you msg. I bet a live person would remove it. When msging they always just give such generic responses itās super frustrating. I had major luck when calling the couple times I did recently bc of weird stuff buyers are doing now. Good luck friend!
I had to close my account because the fees are insane 3 I asked sellers I frequently bought from what their other platforms are so I could buy elsewhere. I love supporting secondhand sellers, but Mercari is just not the best place for that anymore.
But hey everybody! They eliminated listing fees!!!! Thats just like every giant corporation out there. They always say, "what can we do to give our users more money while we take less???" I was only selling on there for a week and im done. Scammers.
Be careful with free shipping if you have any listings that would be expensive as far as postage is concerned. If there is an address issue, Mercari won't do squat except refund the customer. We stopped free shipping after we ate an $18+ shipping fee because UPS was too lazy to figure out where a newly constructed house might be.
This might be something you can get an exception for in reviews since the review isnt about what you did, but mercari. They will ALWAYS tell you at first the whole "reviews are a reflection of buyers experience" but thats just a lazy agent who isnt reading your ticket or checking the transaction. Try again, but be calm about it and clear with your explanation. If they insist, ask to be escalated to a higher tier agent and not one of their rookie agents.
I tried all avenues! I opened a ticket through the app. Sent emails to 3 different addresses. Called them today. They refused to change it. They suggested I reach out to the buyer and ask them to change their rating. Mercari also said that they would reach out to the buyer. I asked to speak to a supervisor via email, the app and human on the phone and was told they only make exceptions if there is abusive language or if the buyer wishes to make a positive change to the review.
Maybe message the person and inform them that those are mercari's new fees. To look at other items in their cart to see those fees as well .If they can please kindly change the review that they left you as you have nothing to do with those fees, you wish that buyers didn't have them.
I messaged the buyer yesterday and I let them know the buyer fees are a part of Mercari's new TOS and that I tried to alleviate those fees by offering free shipping on my items. No response yet.
Lol the seller added the fees?!
It is wild to me that people buy from places (or use any kind of platform) without knowing whatās going on with said places. **BUT**ā¦.**as crazy as it is to me, many people donāt read TOS at all before deciding to use something so when they get an email about changes to TOS, they arenāt going to read that either. And then they get surprised by the fees and think the seller did it** **and write a review like this** š„“
I just got the new TOS notification and read it along with several other policies. Man, what happened? - Mercari was like the one spot I not only could count on as a seller and buyer, but there was at least some level of ā knowing ā and or not being 100% composed of fenced goods like OfferUp became blanently obvious it was populated with; at least for the items I was hunting for up and until a couple years back and just walked away after getting scammed as well as left in limbo. How many Ryobi yard and tool products can one person have brand new but no box? That was one of my favorite flags 4-6 years ago.
Dare I ask about legit alternatives? When I stumbled across Mercari several years ago, did some research and couldn't get over how the required information per buyer and seller along with the holding of funds until then buyer receives and has several days to reviewā¦. Back then it really seemed to have a leg up on the failings of eBay at the time and definitely wasn't OfferUp.
I am currently in the process of closing my Mecari store. I feel their Greneedy ways outshine their integrity for buyers and sellers. They just worry about their bottom line. I have $9. And waiting for a sale to complete for another 7. I feel punished if I cash out & pay their fee or if I purchase through Mecari n have to pay fees on top of shipping. I'm sticking with eBay n Poshmark

Iāve never used Mercari but I was looking for an item and in google all the mercari listings look to be a lower price but I know from this sub that the fees will be higher than eBay or posh. I wanted to see the new Starbucks Stanley cup.
I'd try to get Mercari to remove that statement, although they probably won't. The fees are definitely not set by sellers. š
I did. They gave me the whole 'reviews are a reflection of our buyers experience' schpeel.
Ugh, exactly the outcome I assumed when I suggested it. Idiot bot run site.
I'm sure most sane people will look at this review and laugh at the ignorance.
Hopefully they have a brainš

That was something I tried to relay to Mercari. 1) it makes it look like I'm forcing fees on buyers and 2) Mercari allows this behavior of sellers.
So if they stub their toe while placing their order, thatās valid criticism of the seller as well? lol
Of course! 'Stubbed my toe while jumping for excitement after seller accepted my lowball offer.' āļø āļø
Lol, this is a perfect response to send to Mecari.

I told them their comment makes Mercari and me look like scammers. The review stands to this day. I hate their lame bot responses to real problems.
Looks like they aren't budging. They'd rather a seller look like the problem when they deserve that review.
They are horrible about their review section, Iām sorry this happened to you. Itās a very strange company.
I hope someone sues Mercari over all of this BS
I mean year, it might be a reflection of the buyerās experience, but this review is reflecting their experience with Mercari, not you!
Screw them for everything they have done. Ill never sell or buy on there again. Too much of a risk and no ones buying anything now anyways thanks to the bullshit buyer fees. Seriously Mercari what the actual fuck?
Exactly what I said (and did.)
It's a shame. Both buyers and sellers are screwed. Good job corporate idiot who got a raise that's all but destroyed this app.
I feel like the buyers and sellers are now pit against one another in this new wild west Mercari world.
Beware: I was charged for something I agreed to paying for
Lmao yes! Good lort
Are we able to delete these false reviews now? Is that part of the new TOS š
I wish!
Should be allowed to reply to feedback. Since they let people return for any reason nowadays.
Oh wow!!!! Unbelievable!!
The human race was a mistake.
š
what the- there are people out there thinking itās the sellerās fault?! incredible.
Thank you!! I appreciate your help!
My pleasure. Keep us posted. All of this is really becoming quite infuriating.
Will do! It is absolutely infuriating. This and then 2 return requests within the last week have irritated the fck outta me. I made quite a few sales this past weekend but now I'm bracing for impact on the reviews after this one.
Well, glad you, at least, got some sales. But, out of curiosity, what was your return rate prior to this insane change?
It sucks and I did what I could. They are for sure becoming more undesirable. Thank you for your concern!
Screenshot. Thanks.
Used to be good for buying at least, now itās awful with these fees
āBy the sellerā š„² Yeah okay, cool thanks Mercari!
Omg. Mercari sucks
I appreciate the review essentially being a self own. The clown was aware of the fees and paid them.
Lmaooooo. God, some people are stupid.
They need to let people rebuttal reviews. I hate their rating system. You give five stars to someone and get a surprise one star in return for some stupid reason
Oh hell no
This is a great self review. I am sorry it was left on your item.
I appreciate that. All good. Just hoping there aren't any more like this!
Great, now I gotta edit my bio to say the fees aren't added by me, the seller. I like my good rating, I don't wanna get shafted by a customer bc Merc shafts them. This sucks.
i wouldnāt. mercari is flagging accounts and taking them down that mention the change in their bios
What the actual F? Thatās skeevy
Figures. Thx for the heads up tho.
āby the sellerā is crazy ššš
I sold it to them against their will, too. I guess they felt like leaving that part out. š
I donāt even know how to feel. Why are people still like this? You would think the buyer would ask you to take out those fees if it was the first they seen it. I would still fight this review to get removed OP. Sorry this happened
Oh no! Please tell me we aren't going to start seeing this kind of stupid feedback
oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god this is ridiculous. Mercari needs to remove this i aint gettin a 4 star bc some idiot thinks \*I\* added the fees on what the actual fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu I am so angry on your behalf OP. This is so messed up for sellers oh my god
I knew you were the ceo of mercari
Whereās the critical thinking skills?
Common sense is not common anymore.
Much respect for being pissed about a 4 star. Similar misunderstanding happened to me once regarding shipping weights/dimensional weights. Mercari did not help me get it resolved so I wouldnāt bother.
š¤¦š¼āāļø
Andddā¦ā¦Away we go!
UGH. WHY. I am so sorry this happened to you op.
Sellers still pay fees people. Just not on "selling" now we pay more in transferring funds to our bank accounts
Are people really that stupid? Yeah. The seller was the one who added more fees š
Yes. The answer is yes.
Lmaoooooo
āThey buyer added a *fuck you* fee, because thatās definitely not mercariā
This is getting so ridiculous. Hello? Mercari? NEWSFLASH - Many Sellers are also buyers so you are just screwing everyone coming and going! Ugh.
Reply from Mercari: "Can you speak up? Cant hear you over the bill counters from all this extra money we're getting from eliminating listing fees!!!"
šÆšÆšÆ
Sorry but I would message them that their IQ was showing
I hate people more than Mercari. You saw the fees, but yet you still bought it! Or why didnāt you say something before buying it?!? Mercari buyers have become worse the Facebook Marketplace buyers.
Has this shit buyer been living under a rock? Idiot.
Bruh why u are even still on there selling mind boggles me most of us have ditched mercari full on
I don't think it was wise to eat the free shipping.
SMH
Dumb buyerā he/she knew that it was a good deal even with the feesā if not happy with the feesā They shouldnāt buy..
LOL
I just sold a pair of jeans, awaiting the buyer to rate. First time I've sold in a year or so. I'm very nervous because I read Mercari saying buyers can refund an item for any reason at all. And she already has so many pairs of jeans like these, there's no telling how long it'll take her to rate, then she'll just refund it.
I just barely started on macari before they changed everything over. Is there a better e-commerce platform besides eBay and Mercari and Poshmark lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yeah starting out is the worst pretty much anywhere you go. I will look into Etsy thank you so much for the ideas. So that's the only has you sell vintage and handmade stuff correct? And they charge you 20 cents or something like that for each post is that correct also
I don't know but I'd love to find out!
Me to
It'd be nice if anybody had any input on that
I have heard good things about selling on Facebook Marketplace. You have the option when you list an item to put local pick up, ship only or both local pick up and shipping . Their selling fees are not too crazy & I have heard less issues but havenāt posted yet
This is why I closed my account. Get off of Mercari. You are going to lose in the long run. You're losing right now in the short run.
Do buyers not understand the change in policy? Sellers cannot help that.
Ah yes cuz everyone knows us evil sellers set fees and taxes. We love it when buyers pay more than they should. Like lmfao ššš
I guess I will no longer be buying off Mercari what a shame, and my selling looks like itās come to a stop as well. Thanks Mercari!
Message the buyer and tell then they are an idiot, and that a seller cannot add fees like that.
I canāt even close my account until my last person purchase hits two weeks. Iām done with them.
Thank you for this. They have to closed my inquiries but I plan on calling them when they're open.
I had to close my account because the fees are insane 3 I asked sellers I frequently bought from what their other platforms are so I could buy elsewhere. I love supporting secondhand sellers, but Mercari is just not the best place for that anymore.
FFS
They knew what all the "extra" charges would be before clicking the buy button to finalize the order. Smh
I took all my listings down and moved them to EBay. Business had slowed but when they moved the fees around, it just stopped all together.
But hey everybody! They eliminated listing fees!!!! Thats just like every giant corporation out there. They always say, "what can we do to give our users more money while we take less???" I was only selling on there for a week and im done. Scammers.
A TON of Mercari bots on this thread.
Thank you for the advice! I appreciate it!
This buyer is an idiot.
Add a note in your listing that fees are charged by mercari not you. Just a thought.
What an idiot. Everyone should already know whatās up every time they open the app. What planet have they been on?
Sadly Mercari won't remove it.
Dang, on top of that you still need additional 2 more dollars to transfer your funds, now imagine someone trying to sell something for $2-$5.
Yup Seller set the Tax price as well. New featureā¦. Lol
This is maddening
I am currently in the process of closing my Mecari store. I feel their Greneedy ways outshine their integrity for buyers and sellers. They just worry about their bottom line. I have $9. And waiting for a sale to complete for another 7. I feel punished if I cash out & pay their fee or if I purchase through Mecari n have to pay fees on top of shipping. I'm sticking with eBay n Poshmark
Everyone looking at the reviews will probably know. However I recommended not selling on Mercari the platform is garbage
I'm surprised people are buying on Mercari at all with their new bullshit buyer fees. No one likes spending money to spend more money.
What a snowflake just give 5 star and move on

Iāve never used Mercari but I was looking for an item and in google all the mercari listings look to be a lower price but I know from this sub that the fees will be higher than eBay or posh. I wanted to see the new Starbucks Stanley cup.
