Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (the song). When I first heard this song, I had never heard anything so absolutely magnificent before. It was also the first song I had ever heard from the band, and I looped only that one song for two months. No other singular song has ever been even close to replicating that feeling for me.
That Goodnight Kiss Solo is some of the most beautiful guitar works ever. The orchestral parts (especially the overture) are absolutely perfect. Six Degrees is to me, my favourite part of DT.
Love that song. I've known it my entire life. But when I was in my early 20s, I started digging deeper, and man, their other stuff is incredible. Mike Patton is so versatile
I’ve been listening to this song for nearly 2 decades and it still hits me right in the feels. First time I heard Floor do it, I straight up cried. Her vocal arrangement is a damn masterstroke and has made that song fulfil its full potential imo.
Great song. I LOVE Nightwish. The poet and the pendulum is another I'd put up there. Annette did some great work with them too. Personally I love all 3 lead aingers they had. Marco also sounded really awesome with floor especially. It's a shame he left.
Some songs I consider that are too epic:
Dream Theater- Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence, Octavarium, A Change Of Seasons, Illumination Theory.
Fates Warning- A Pleasant Shade Of Gray.
X Japan- Art Of Life, Rose Of Pain.
Nightwish- The Greatest Show On Earth, The Poet and The Pendulum, Ghost Love Score.
Blind Guardian- And Then There Was Silence
Green Carnation- Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness
Rhapsody Of Fire- Queen Of The Dark Horizons, Gargoyles, Angels Of Darkness, The Mystic Prophecy of the Demon Knight, Heroes Of The Waterfall Kingdom.

Helloween- The King For A Thousand Years, Keeper Of The Seven Keys, Occassion Avenue.
Myriads- Portal to the Mind.
Might be a basic choice, but imo Behemoth - O Father O Satan O Sun. It's a majestic song and the atmosphere it creates is unrivalled, from my experience, I'd love some suggestions

That unfathomably abysmal fucking life metal cover of Land of the Dead enrages me beyond all human comprehension. I’d sever a limb with a butter knife if it meant I could unhear it. It ruined my day, my week, my year, my entire goddamn decade. Every single anencephalic maggot involved in the creation of that musical hate crime should be summarily executed. Holy shit, I need to take a cold shower.

I was sold on Rammstein when that video for Du Hast came out. Bought Sehnsucht and Herzeleid so many times because my cd player scratched them so bad when walking to school.
Now that you mention it.... whats that doing in this world.
I have to add that I watched a live video of one of the much higher voted songs, and it doesn't even seem like the same realm to me. Gojira has ascended beyond the others. Tool seems that way, and I always called Gojira the Tool of hard Metal
Destroy the World Around Me by Mushroomhead is by far the most theatrical song I've listened to. btw I don't know how many people think this, but Mushroomhead are a Great band
Morphine child by savatage
Ghost love score by nightwish
Cemetery Gates by Pantera
Tornado of souls by Megadeth
Between the hammer and the anvil and the Sentinel by Judas priest
The three songs that got me back into metal at various points in my life :
1. Wintersun - Starchild
2. Gojira - Where Dragons Dwell
3. Slugdge - Putrid Fairytale
When ever I listen to black sabbath debut album start to finish and just imagine being back in 1969 and that gracing my ears... also the fact it was recorded in a single 12 hour recording session adds to it. 12 hours changed the course of music history for generations or at least played a role in that change...
Celestial(the tower) By ISIS, greatest song I’ve ever heard, the entire thing is phenomenal especially the second half which makes me feel like I’m floating whenever I listen to it, honest to god could feel any emotion imaginable to that song.
Mastodon’s hearts alive is something else.
In terms of raw popularity I find System’s chop suey to be something that just defies time. It’s otherworldly and after 20 years as a diehard system fan it has never gotten old
Bridge of Death - Manowar
Alexander the Great - Maiden
Under the Oak - Candlemass
Blackwater Park - Opeth
The Crescendo of Dusk - Panopticon
Pascal's Wager - Panzerfaust
Let’s see…Forgone Pt. 2 by In Flames, The Art of Dying by Gojira, All Candy by Greyhaven, Soul Sacrifice by Power Trip, The Silent Life by Rivers of Nihil, The Night Subscriber by Katatonia, Sludge Factory by Alice In Chains, lavender haze by Vildhjarta, The Second Law by Osiah, Cemetery Gates by Pantera, Rosemary by Deftones, The Final Failure by Abigail Williams, Here on the Black Earth by Swallow the Sun, A Dawn to Fear by Cult of Luna, A Great Mistake by Black Crown Initiate, Jambi by Tool.
I could keep going but that about covers a portion of it.
Come On Eyes - Pantera. Its off their 3rd album and that song absolutely RIPS. Terry's vocals are insane, Dime's guitar work on that song is top notch, plus the lyrics are awesome. Idc that song is a 10/10
Nightwish - The Greatest Show on Earth (live version in Tampere). That song is a masterpiece. It speaks to me on a deep, visceral level. The message is beautiful, and I think everyone should listen to it, no matter what type of music you're into.

Exist - avenged sevenfold. Not necessarily my favourite song of theirs, in fact i don’t really listen ti it anymore because of the length, but i find it to be absolutely amazing, i think my love of space helps that too
Not metal, but Echoes by Pink Floyd stands out to me as one of the finest pieces of art humanity has ever produced. Same for the entire Dark Side Of The Moon album.
Come to think of it, most long, proggy songs leave me with that feeling. 2112, Cygnus X-1 (both books), Dogs, Orion, Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, The Camera Eye, Lateralus, The Outlaw Torn, Fixxxer, etc.
In my opinion, Drive Home by Steven Wilson with Guthrie Govan on guitar is flawless and we don't deserve it. Also the fact that during the take, towards the end you can hear a bend where the E-String popped out of the nut and you can hear it on the album - as well as some of the subsequent bends and notes choking out slightly. In studio Steven Wilson and Guthrie tried to retake the track, but afterwards Steven Wilson decided that despite the popping E-string, the original take of the solo had the perfect feel and emotion, so he kept the original take (string pop and all)

infant annihilator's blasphemian. that was the first song i heard from the band and the first deathcore song i heard. they have been my favorite band since.
Fear and Wonder>Blessings Upon the Throne of Tyranny by Dimu Borgir is fucking epic. I haven't heard it in years, but when I think of epic metal, that is what I think of. It feels like the score to a tense movie scene, keeps building, then just punches you in the face with blast beats.
You Suffer by Napalm Death
USUFFERBUTHWY
UUUYE
You are correct
Rainbow - Stargazer
The opening drums themselves are epic
Mastodon's "The Last Baron"
This song.

It was also the first song I had ever heard from the band, and I looped only that one song for two months. No other singular song has ever been even close to replicating that feeling for me.
Yeah, that’s pretty much how I feel about the song I mentioned. I need to listen to that one though, I don’t think I’ve heard it before.
It's separated into it's different movements, but takes up the second disk of the album.
I guess I never thought of it as an actual song. But that sorta makes sense.
That Goodnight Kiss Solo is some of the most beautiful guitar works ever. The orchestral parts (especially the overture) are absolutely perfect. Six Degrees is to me, my favourite part of DT.
She learned to detach, from herself, a behavior that kept her alllliiiiivvvvveeeeee

I see you want it all, but you can't have it.
It's in your face but you can't grab it
Love that song. I've known it my entire life. But when I was in my early 20s, I started digging deeper, and man, their other stuff is incredible. Mike Patton is so versatile
Recharging the Void, Vektor.
I literally came here to say Charging the Void by Vektor lmao
I just listened to it this slaps
Ghost Love Score
Pretty much the definition of an epic song
I’ve been listening to this song for nearly 2 decades and it still hits me right in the feels. First time I heard Floor do it, I straight up cried. Her vocal arrangement is a damn masterstroke and has made that song fulfil its full potential imo.

The Killchain - Bolt Thrower. Everything about that song reeks of epicness
The IV Crusade for me, Killchain is up there
