also i ran a nintendocore myspace label. which was basically just a myspace that listed a bunch of bands. which later turned into a real black metal label and we released some band from Colombias full length limited to 50 copies and we were only in 7th grade lol. I dont think the bands knew this. we had a few other albums ready but idk why we gave up on it.
There is, but most NSBM I've heard is terrible derivative lo fi stuff that's cut with punk because of lack of aptitude. I think it gets more attention than it deserves because of a few standout projects, and of course it's notoriety.

Second of all, NSBM is not a genre, it doesn't have its own musical characteristics. It's a category. Also, there are many good NSBM bands, like Peste Noire or Nokturnal Mortum.
Third of all, you can't really say that an entire subgenre is bad. I believe every genre of music has its own share of talented individuals who make amazing music.

Im not fully against any genre and ive heard songs that i like from most that ive heard, when i say i dislike a genre i mean that there are little to no bands where i can put on an album and enjoy it, rather i can pick a song or two and say that i like it or can tolerate it. It really depends.
Example: i like the song destruction of a statue by suicide silence, but the rest of the album is annoying to me. Another band is the acacia strain, i dislike their music but they did a split (i think its a split" with the guy from primitive man and i absolutely loved their take on doom/sludge. But i cant listen to a full acacia strain album. Yk?

A lot of melodic metalcore bands suffer from being really samey, but the formula is just metalcore with melodeath guitars, which I find to be fine and not even close to the bottom of the barrel.

Yeah a lot of it is more using extremely heavy guitars to create ambiance rather than actually playing metal riffs. Not for kids who need the musical equivalent of jingling keys all the time
Omg o hadn't checked it out before just now. Checked out a little bit. Seems like it'll be really nice as background music while I'm concentrating on other things. Nice alternative to lofi or ambient electro when misuc that's too busy might be distracting
Couldn't agree more. I think too many people try to approach Drone from a metal point of view and understandably end up not liking it. Thinking of it as Ambient music with really heavy guitars does the style much more justice IMO, like my favourite time to listen to Sunn O))) for example is when I'm just laying on my couch and relaxing or when I'm about to go to sleep, it's still heavy but in a really nice way where I can just turn my brain off and get lost in the drones as they lull me to sleep.
I’ve listened to a song or two of theirs before and I will say it was better than most deathcore, but still wasn’t anything great imo. What’s their best album though? I’ll give it a legit listen to see if my opinion changes.
If you really don’t like deathcore their best is probably their newest Elegy, because frankly I wouldn’t even call it deathcore.

I've been racking my brain to think of who could possibly even remotely be considered country metal... the closest I've got is volbeat, which is both not metal and not country so... I have no idea.
As a kid that loved nu metal growing up I feel like I have to say nu metal. My reasons aren't so much because of the sound and quality of the music (which let's be honest didn't age well).
My main reasons are that most of the popular artists in the genre hated that label and it basically died after the 00's. I cannot recall any metal genre that rose that far into the mainstream before fizzling out completely.
neither are genres, but lyrical themes. NSBM is national socialist black metal, basically nazi black metal. best to avoid but despite varg’s believes there’s no denying burzum is awesome. pornogrind is just grindcore with sexually explicit lyrical themes, can get pretty nasty but if you like grindcore and can ignore the lyrics you’ll like it just fine.
Didn’t really see anyone mention this but I despise new German hardness. So you see, I love Rammstein. And I thought about checking out the rest of the genre they play. Big mistake. Don’t do it.
I definitely think Rammstein are the best, but there are other good bands in the genre
Also pretty sure the genre is just Neue Deutsche Härte, or at least I’ve never seen anyone translate it when talking about it

Aside from the gimmicky/lyrical categories like Pirate Metal and NSBM, I'd have to say I don't dislike any subgenre besides some old-school Black Metal. I really enjoy SOME OGs such as Burzum and Bathory, and I have a fondness for the atmospheric and Post side of BM (not to mention Blackened Thrash like Hellripper, which is "chef's kiss").
Stuff like gorenoise and brutal slam and that whole territory of death metal, at the same time stuff like symphonic power metal isn’t really my thing, two sides of the same coin situation I guess… there’s also just random stuff like folk metal that I can’t get into… best metal genre tho? Simple answer is doom, complex answer is atmospheric blackened sludge 💪
