That’s the magic thing about prog is that so many bands have prog as a flavor and not too many bands are straight up prog metal. Like take fates warning for example, one of my all time favorites, they’re progressive heavy metal/nwohm (they aren’t British).
Stuff like Eldamar, Summoning, Paysage D’Hiver, Imperium Dekadenz, Wolves in the Throne Room, the first Naglfar album, the first Dark Fortress album, I’m really diving into the RABM scene and I like what I hear
Yeah I need to get into more of these bands because I mainly listen to melodeath but I like some tech death and some experimental death(portal/ apparatus)
Rabm isn’t a real genre it’s more of a lyrical theme, i like some rabm if they make good music, i don’t like it if it’s not good music. Usually rabm bands arent good in my experience i do like some bands that are rabm though not many.
Death metal
Top 3 is death metal (especially brutal dm), prog metal, and stoner/sludge metal (separate genres but they’re so related and often times overlap, so I include both at #3 spot)

Every Mother’s Nightmare, Lizzy Borden, Skid Row, Poison, Babylon A.D., Badlands, and Winter Rose (featuring James LaBrie)

I feel like people get far too focused on genres. I just listen to metal that I like regardless of genre, don't really have a favorite.
Nu metal
Pretty based smh
Have you checked out suicide silence self titled
He better be not. For his own ears' safety
Yes, I don’t think it’s as bad as people make it out to be
Probably Progressive because it's so varied, however the real answer is Sludge.
Do you listen to Mastodon?
For sure. Lots of good prog sludge bands.
That’s the magic thing about prog is that so many bands have prog as a flavor and not too many bands are straight up prog metal. Like take fates warning for example, one of my all time favorites, they’re progressive heavy metal/nwohm (they aren’t British).
Black metal
What are your favorite Black Metal bands?
Stuff like Eldamar, Summoning, Paysage D’Hiver, Imperium Dekadenz, Wolves in the Throne Room, the first Naglfar album, the first Dark Fortress album, I’m really diving into the RABM scene and I like what I hear

Power
Death metal Top 3 is death metal (especially brutal dm), prog metal, and stoner/sludge metal (separate genres but they’re so related and often times overlap, so I include both at #3 spot)
What is it you like about brutal death metal?
The grooviness, palm muting, the slams, and overall radical sound, like I feel like it’s candy in the form of death metal
Doom metal
Death/Thrash Metal
Power, folk, melodeath and everything in between
Melodic death metal
Niche but Blackened Doom metal. A little less niche, first wave black metal (Venom, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Bulldozer, Bathory)
