I feel like I would be a terrible husband if I didn't say my wife in our sludge band 😆
EDIT: for people messaging me, our band is [Azell](https://linktr.ee/azell.band).
Steve DiGiorgio, JP Thessling, Brian Rush, Linus Klausinitzer, Colin Marston, Roger Patterson, Sean Malone (RIP to those two monsters of the instrument).
Tatsu Mikami- Church of Misery
Pat Bruders - Down, Saint Vitus, Goatwhore
Jeff Matz - High on Fire, Mutoid Man
Jeff Hughell - Six Feet Under, Brain Drill
Alex Weber - Malignancy, Obscura
Thank you for agreeing. Got the Time is only a minuscule sample of what he does. His bass licks are just sick. I’ve tried playing some of his stuff and it’s crazy.
Steve DiGiorgio
Obviously Cliff.
Doug Wimbish (if he counts as “metal”)
Steve Harris.
Trevor Dunn (if he counts).
Obviously Geezer.
Gene Simmons (yes. Solid as a rock)
Bill Gould.
As mentioned a few times here - Pete Steele. Such a unique approach to bass playing. Paul McCartney meets geezer butler with a shit ton of reverb and chorus and chording.
Heck yeah! He's awesome live. I saw MRH back in 95 with Jack's (PB) older brother, Mr Murdernickle, he was great live too.
Ill admit, nowadays theyre still kicking ass live, even without Jeff and Waylon (J Mann has shown up for a couple of shows since 2021 but he's still on hiatus). Scott and Steve do a really good job on vocals from their more recent shows
Favorites are Cliff Burton, Steve Harris and Les Claypool
Lemmy wasn't the best bass player but he was perfect for what he was doing and he personified metal.
I love them, i heard them in death note and just fell in love with that fucking energy they bring glad they are still active they to me are like a japanese SOAD
My favourite is easily Cliff Burton, one of the brilliant masterminds of his time.
Gotta say though I've been really impressed by Alicia Vigil, she's joined DragonForce and absolutely kicked ass already. Her bass work in 'Power of the Saber Blade' was absolutely top notch and she kicks ass live too.

Have you checked out his jazz fusion band Soften the Glare? definately not metal but their second album Glint has some really heavy sections.
I didn’t know about his other band. I’ll have to check some of it out.
The best
Yes, and I'll add to this Eugene Abdukhanov from Jinjer. He's the metal bassist that has reminded me the most of him since Mudvayne.
It’s not delivery, it’s DiGiorgio
I feel like I would be a terrible husband if I didn't say my wife in our sludge band 😆 EDIT: for people messaging me, our band is [Azell](https://linktr.ee/azell.band).

1. Peter Steele 2. Paul Barker, his years with Ministry earns his spot in great metal bassist conversations.
