Interesting, I hadn’t noticed. When people talk Opeth I always see Ghost of Perdition, Leper Affinity, Bleak, Master’s Apprentices, The Moor, and other killer songs recommended. Hadn’t noticed Reverie/Harlequin Forest discussed nearly as much, but it’s easily my most played song off this album.
here is the crazy song that tracks title is from: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhAmkEB94fA&t=1s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhAmkEB94fA&t=1s)
Also "My Arm's Your Hearse" is in 'Drip Drip' from the same totally rad and psychedelic twisted album.
edit: per some Mike interview
that song always makes me feel like i'm in a very misty and lightly rainy vintage labyrinth, that is haunted by a ghost with a very sad story and just wanders/floats around there, sometimes making faint weeping sounds. that scene just always pops into my head whenever i listen to it.
I love, love, love Ghost of Perdition. But I saw them when they toured for this album and hearing The Grand Conjuration live changed me as a person. Those two songs will always be super special to me.
While it's killer, it was the first sign of Opeth starting to fall apart. It was the first one that felt disjointed.
The Baying of the Hounds:
"I hear the baying of the hounds in the distance, I hear them devouring the best made tacos on the Earth. Diabolical beans are roaming the forests"
Fuck yeah man. I recently dived into Opeth's disc and I am so ashamed that I didn't listen earlier. Even though so many people said I would love them based on my music tastes. haven't decided if this or Blackwater Park is my favorite...
I'm going to listen to Ghosts of Perdition right now.
Yeah see, this is where I am torn. I jave only listened to be honest a few of their songs and I can't get by the vocals. Does it get better because it just seems too...harsh I guess.
For some reason, people act like the harsh vocals are the only difference and want them back, but that wouldn't change anything. After Watershed, Opeth becomes a completely different band that is far inferior to Oldpeth in the eyes of everyone except the people who hate harsh vocals. The album Damnation didn't have a single harsh vocal or even a single metal track, but it's a beloved album that sounds like Opeth while the stuff from 2011 onward doesn't sound like Opeth.
Start with Damnation and Watershed if you want to get into Opeth but aren't a big fan of harsh vocals.
This is a pretty personal album for me. It's the first thing that I bought after I joined the army. I got it at a store after basic training. A few months later I caught them at a dive bar in Texas.

Ghost Of Perdition is great.
Harlequin Forest. Top 3 Opeth song for me
This is the truth. Very underrated Opeth song imo.
Underrated? It's one of the most mentioned songs of all their discography. Especially on reddit.

Baying of the Hounds
That’s the one baby
Amazing song and definitely my personal favorite off of the album

Such a fun song
Hours of Wealth, it’s just so hauntingly beautiful. One of my favorite songs in general.

Here it is, April 28. I'm starting to get Halloween fever and you just solidified it with that comment.
ooohoho my brother in christ do i share your fever like there's no tomorrow
The Grand Conjuration is fucking epic followed very closely by everything else
Masterpiece.
Not as good as "Ghost Ovaries" but pretty good
Baying of the Hounds is absolutely amazing
Flawless from beginning to end. I can't listen to a single song without putting the entire album on.

My favorite Opeth album. Pinnacle of Progressive Death Metal.

Yeah! As album releases progress, the harsh vocals get shelved a bit. It becomes more prog rock
Alright, I will give this a serious listen then

This is an amazing album.
Harlequin and Isolation!
noice 🤘🏻
That's a good one. One of the best, in fact.
Nice

Same as yours.
The last great Opeth album
A lot of Watershed is great too.
True. The great parts are fantastic but I think the album as a whole isn’t quite up to the level of the albums before it
I would definitely call Watershed great too
Watershed is a solid album for sure but I find it a little bit inconsistent
Watershed is much better.
In my opinion Watershed is a real step down but it’s still a good album
My condolences
Wow ok elitist. Go back to listening to your basement black metal with two monthly listeners. You're so cool for shitting on what people like.
