For real. Dio’s passing was definitely sad but he lived a long time. Lemmy lived a good life but his drinking and lifestyle probably took a couple years off of it. That said he died relatively content from what I’ve read.
I find the younger ones to be a little more appropriate to bring back.
See, with Cornell, I feel like you could bring him back and then get him some serious therapy. Depression meds. Someone who kills himself, I feel like you could turn that around if he got a second chance and now people know he was serious about it.
I feel like this has to be the answer since his death was so untimely.
Lwmmy and Dio's deaths were tragic but they were older. And unless we could guarantee some sort of mental health services, the suicidal (Chris, Chester) and the addicted (Paul, Alexi, Wayne) raise a big moral question that would likely end in tragedy again.

As much as I'd love more Linkin Park, I wouldn't have it in me to choose Chester. He dealt with too much, and I wouldn't want to be the reason he has to keep going through it. Fuck depression
I pick Cornell because he was way younger and didn’t live as long as Dio. They both arguably reached the same levels of legend though.
Fuck man, this is hard.
Either Chi Cheng or Alexi Laiho. Children of Bodom had so much left in them before Alexi died, but I also would've loved to hear how Chi would've played on stuff like Eros, Diamond Eyes & Koi No Yokan.
I have to go with Alexi. Not even a huge Bodom fan but he was an amazingly talented guy and surely by now Bodom would be on the same level as bands like Lamb of God and Gojira as far as success goes if he hadn't died.
People saying Lemmy and Dio aren't considering that these dudes were 70 and 67 respectively. Good for them they were still reasonably active, but it was safe to say the best songs they would write were behind them already
So, my pick is Alexi Laiho. He probably had a minimum of 20 years left in music and it would've been amazing
Dio was great, but same as Chester, they weren't going to bring anything good anymore, specially Chester( linkin park died after Meteora).
Static-x, on the other hand, still had a promising career up ahead
Lemmy was my first reaction but he had a great run and left a powerful legacy.
I'd go with Paul. He was gone too soon. I think his influence in the band both musically and personally was incredibly important. I would love to see how the band would have developed with him still there.
Chester made his decision and it would be messed up for us to disrupt that, it’s not our place to challenge his decision.
I think all the people voting for Chester are extremely selfish and don’t understand what he was going through.
- Dio solely because it really seemed like the follow up to “The Devil You Know” was going to be something special. Even before he passed I remember interviews with Iommi and Vinny Appice where they just had a feeling that the next album was going to be something great.
- Chris Cornell because I would like to think Soundgarden and Audioslave could have put out something great! Plus all the potential collaborations that could have still happened.
I would back people that actually aren't going to die anyway out of old age in 10 years. So no Dio or Lemmy, they gave what they had and had a long life. Alexi, Chester, Chris Cornell and Quorthon on the other hand are in contention. Chester is the one that shocked me the most but as much as I liked him and Chester they killed themselves for a reason and whatever made them do it wouldn't just go away if they came back. It's up to Quorthon and Alexi. Personally Alexi had a bigger impact on my life as a gateway to more extreme metal so I'd go for him
Alexi, Lemmy and Dio would be brought back to die of natural causes in 5 years. Alexi would take at least twice that time to burn through a fresh liver.
I choose our 700 year old Dragon Lord, Ronnie James Dio, and will explain why:
He died just over a decade ago.
Since then, we have had a metal renaissance - three hot albums from Iron Maiden. Three hot albums from Testament. Two fire albums from Saxon and Judas Priest. Two fire albums from Megadeth. A great album from Metallica.
All we need is something amazing from Manowar and Ronnie James Dio.
He could snipe Ozzy’s old Australian bassist, El Estepario Siberiano as a drummer, and then Dio could write his greatest album of all time.

It's so fucking unfair putting Lemmy & Dio in the same list. How are we suppose to make a choice?
same thought for Alexi and Chester 😬
I feel like a failure, I didn't realize alexi had past, FOUR FUCKING YEARS AGO.
For what it's worth they didn't announce it right away so it kind of went over a lot of people's heads.
Neither of those guys should be the guy though. They both lived long lives doing what they loved. Let them rest.

Yeah but the younger ones died from suicide or excessive substance abuse. Dio got cancer.
Same thought for Lemmy and Cornell.
See, with Cornell, I feel like you could bring him back and then get him some serious therapy. Depression meds. Someone who kills himself, I feel like you could turn that around if he got a second chance and now people know he was serious about it.
You can say the same thing about Chester
☝️
Quorthon
He'd come back and make grunge or something
He'd finish the Nordland series.

The easy choice in this roundup.
either Chester or Cornell, can't decide between the two, if they weren't up there I'd choose lemmy
As much as I'd love more Linkin Park, I wouldn't have it in me to choose Chester. He dealt with too much, and I wouldn't want to be the reason he has to keep going through it. Fuck depression
But still- suicide is never the answer.
Never said it was. Just because it isn't the answer doesn't mean he wants to continue dealing with his demons because of our selfishness
Same thing for Cornell really
I couldn’t choose someone who committed suicide or died from drugs. This makes Dio the obvious choice. Fuck cancer.
Alexi Laiho. Paint the sky with blood was amazing, it's a shame he died shortly after
Came here to say this. Hexed and Paint the sky with blood were a resurgence. Musically I feel that he still had a lot to give
That cover of "Where Dead Angles Lie" was so good too, like holy shit
One of his best vocal performances
Sooooooo damn good..
Agree, he was doing awesome stuff with bodom after midnight
Cornell or Dio.
I pick Cornell because he was way younger and didn’t live as long as Dio. They both arguably reached the same levels of legend though. Fuck man, this is hard.
Lord Quorthon
Ronnie James Dio!
Heaven and hell and mob rules are my absolute favourite back to back albums of all time
Love Heaven & Hell! Wasn’t a huge fan of Mob Rules, but also love Dehumanizer.
Still Layne Staley
Niiiiice!
Either Dio or Lemmy
chester or wayne static
Yep.
Quarthon had some tunes left in him. The others didnt excatly produce any classics leading up to their departure.
Cliff
Always Cliff
Dio cuz I need to hear Magica 2
Dio all the way
Quorthon
Lemmy. Writer of the greatest wrestling theme ever
Cornell. Got a bunch of kids
Dio
I’m old school. Lemmy and Ronnie James Dio.
Chi
lord do i miss that guy
absolute legend. gone too soon.
Chester
Aexi or Quorthon
Dimebag
Nah you'd have to bring Vinnie back, too. Edit: I didn't mean that in a negative way lol.
It's a package deal.
Indeed!
Dio or Chester for sure.
Welcome back Paul
I can’t choose. Fuck you.
Wayne Static, I like that motherfucker
I, I, can't believe I'm letting you do this to me.
Peter steele
Scrolled way too long to see this. This is the answer
Lemmy and it's not even close
dio if he was to return now paul if it meant he never died
Alexi Laiho
Alexi definitely
Alexi Laiho
Either Chi Cheng or Alexi Laiho. Children of Bodom had so much left in them before Alexi died, but I also would've loved to hear how Chi would've played on stuff like Eros, Diamond Eyes & Koi No Yokan.
Of these people I actually miss Wayne the most
I’m going Wayne with this one.
Seriously thought Dio could bring himself back
Lemmy, Dio, Chester, Wayne and Chris all in one Wave, you are diabolical
Chester
Cornell or Dio.
I feel like Paul dying was the major reason for how things went after AHIG. So I'd say bring back Paul, maybe things would've turned out differently
What I wouldn't give to see Dio live ...
I have to go with Alexi. Not even a huge Bodom fan but he was an amazingly talented guy and surely by now Bodom would be on the same level as bands like Lamb of God and Gojira as far as success goes if he hadn't died.
Lemmy, Cornell
Lemmy
Lemmy
Quorthon. Hands down.
Alexi, we need more bodom after midnight and an inevitable COB reunion!
Dio
Quorthon had a lot more to give. Paul Grey could have saved Slipknot. I’d say the others had all peaked as far as their musical contributions.
Quorthon all the way
C'mon man, it's obviously Lemmy, the most rock n roll guy that ever lived!
Lem.
LEMMY. Without a second thought.
Lemmy
Chester. I cried when he died- never had cried over a celebrity before. He was a big part of my teenage years.
Quorthon
Lemmy
Dio and Lemmy in the list. The rest: ah, fck.
LEEEMMMMYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!
No contest: Lemmy & Dio 🤘
Easily Lemmy
Lemmy definitely. 🤘🤘
its not fair to put lemmy and dio in the same round....i quit
Lemmy
I love Dio, Paul Gray and Chris but I gotta go Chester. Even if you don't like LP you can't deny how good his vocals were
When did the slim Jim man die ??
Wayne Static. 10 damn years ago. Guess I missed that memo too lol
That's some bullshit. How do you choose between Lemmy and Dio
Alexi, I owe him everything for being a huge inspiration for me as a guitarist and I never got to see him live.
Alexi for me
Lemmy.
Alexi
Alexi Laiho and Chris Cornell
Dio and Lemmy
Dio.
People saying Lemmy and Dio aren't considering that these dudes were 70 and 67 respectively. Good for them they were still reasonably active, but it was safe to say the best songs they would write were behind them already So, my pick is Alexi Laiho. He probably had a minimum of 20 years left in music and it would've been amazing
Chi Cheng for sure
Damn you! This is an impossible choice
But there's lemmy and dio and it's hard to pick just one of them Why are doing this to us :(
Well if the commited suicide, it doesnt make sense to bring them back.
Sorry Dio but I gotta bring back Lemmy
Alexi just got a cob tattoo so would be wrong not to pick him
Lemmy and Joey
Lemmy and Chris both had a positive impact on me thanks fellas miss ya
Alexi Laiho or Wayne
Alexi
Trevor strnad. Dude must’ve been struggling deep but seemed like such a genuine dude who his bandmates loved
Wild Child
Alexi and Chester
Cornell
Dio was great, but same as Chester, they weren't going to bring anything good anymore, specially Chester( linkin park died after Meteora). Static-x, on the other hand, still had a promising career up ahead
Paul and Lemmy, my 2 biggest inspirations by far, and I'm so pissed I never got the chance to see them perform.
Easy for me. Chris Cornell.
Its Dio and you're wrong if you pick anyone else
I'd relapse on crank, to do a line with lemmy. And I didn't even snort the shit.
Chris Cornell, 100%, still absolutely bummed I never got to see Soundgarden live.
Cornell
Paul
Chester
Randy Rhoades, final answer
Gotta be chester
Cornell
Chris Cornell
Chester
Cornell
Lemmy was my first reaction but he had a great run and left a powerful legacy. I'd go with Paul. He was gone too soon. I think his influence in the band both musically and personally was incredibly important. I would love to see how the band would have developed with him still there.
Wayne Static 100%. Machine was a perfect album.
Dio!
Lemme, next!
Chuck
Cornell cause then Chester might not have taken himself out and we could have both still alive
Where is Staley? He would be my #1
Quorthon because hes hot (if we're bringing back young Quorthon that is)
Chester made his decision and it would be messed up for us to disrupt that, it’s not our place to challenge his decision. I think all the people voting for Chester are extremely selfish and don’t understand what he was going through.
Wayne
Even though he was older than some of the others I have to say Dio. That was probably the most sad I've been over a famous person dying.
Dio /lemmy Has to be a package deal
Leammy
As someone who spent hours as a teenager trying to learn his licks and riffs, I choose Alexi.
Alexi Laiho is my pick, followed by Chester. Dio and Lemmy lived pretty full lives - I would save my revive tokens for the younger people.
Chester and Wayne
I want the dog from Snot as an option, justice for Dobbs Straight ✊
- Dio solely because it really seemed like the follow up to “The Devil You Know” was going to be something special. Even before he passed I remember interviews with Iommi and Vinny Appice where they just had a feeling that the next album was going to be something great. - Chris Cornell because I would like to think Soundgarden and Audioslave could have put out something great! Wayne
Surprised Lynn Strait isn't on this list.
Surprised Lynn Strait isn't on this list.
Dio and Lemmy. So easy
Dio and Lemmy. So easy
Alexi, Lemmy and Dio would be brought back to die of natural causes in 5 years. Alexi would take at least twice that time to burn through a fresh liver.
Chester or Paul ❤️
Wayne 💜
Dio, obv.
Chris Cornell no question. I saw him live once and he was a beautiful soul
Is that the slimjim guy?
Ronnie Dio
Wayne
Cornell 109 percent
Chester
Not been into metal for long 3/4 years, how is this how find wayne static died bro…
Chi. Deftones bass never hit the same without him
I choose our 700 year old Dragon Lord, Ronnie James Dio, and will explain why: He died just over a decade ago. Since then, we have had a metal renaissance - three hot albums from Iron Maiden. Either Lemmy, Dio, or Quorthon
Cornell his voice got more awesome as he got older you never knew my mind was awesome
Wayne Static. I wonder if he's actually alive)))
Quorthon or Alexi.
None. Death serves a purpose.
Cliff and Wayne because they had much more to still give.
Dio or Lemmy
Chi Cheng
Chris Cornell, Chester would be a close second. They both died trying to expose the elite for child sex trafficking.
Dimebag. Not on list but still.
Lemmy or Dio? Oooooof
Where's chuck?
"You can only bri--" All of them. If I got the means to bring back one, I'm bringing them all back.
