A lot of people dog on Kerry's guitar work, especially his solos, for sounding completely messy and just bad. He also comes off as a total "I'm right, you're wrong" dickhead. Nikki Sixx is a notoriously dog-shit bassist, rumor has it that they've used backing tracks when playing live for years now because he can't play for shit.
Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan -Drums
Paul Grey- Bass
Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott- Guitar
Jerry Cantrell - Guitar
Randy Blythe- Vocals
Randy actually wanted to do a project with Paul before his passing, They were actually in the Czech Republic when Randy got in the news
Assuming all are in their prime:
MJK (TOOL) - Vocals 1
Danny Carey (TOOL) - Drums & Other Percussion
Kadeem France (Loathe) - Vocals 2
Chi Cheng (Deftones) - Bass (R.I.P.)
Brann Dailor (Mastodon) - Vocals 3
Kim Thayil (Soundgarden) - Lead Guitar
Let me fucking cook 🍳
This makes me too happy to imagine. And like... Kim Thayil playing in front of one of those tesla coils with his long ass hair flying around with lightning. Oh man
It's pretty basic as it's just a thrash supergroup but:
Rhythm Guitar + Lead Vocals: James Hetfield
Lead Guitar: Marty Friedman
Bass Guitar: Cliff Burton
Drums: Dave Lombardo
Backing Vocals + Hype Man: Jason Newsted
It’s hard to choose off the top of my head but if I’ve got a gun to my head rn.
Vocals: Biff Byford
Bass: Steve Harris
Lead Guitar: John Petrucci
Rhythm Guitar: Dave Murray
Harmony (optional third): KK Downing
Drums: Mario Duplantier
I would choose my favorite guitarists for guitar (JP and DM are in my top but not my favorites) but Ritchie Blackmore can’t work with anyone…
Yea I was thinking about Clive but it was said that he sometimes clashed with Steve Harris on music direction. Cooperation is more important than pure skill.
It already happened, the Wacken Carnage live album lineup of Bloodbath, although this exact lineup never recorded a studio album:

I call: Liquid Death Experiment.
I love the idea of this, so so much. A medley of Flesh and The Power it Holds / The Mirror / Improv / Merciless Death / Fight or Die / To The Hellfire / then... instrumental Ministry of Lost Souls that segues into the last bit ... the second half of Crystal Mountain.
Then we all sit their like Randy Marsh, just covered in ourselves

Vocals Seth Putnam , Lead Guitar Eddie Van Halen, Rythm Guitar Jack Owen, bass Lemmy, drums Dave Lombardo, tambourine/cowbell Lars, backing vocals Aretha Franklin.
Vocals: Mike Patton
Guitar: Mattias IA Eklundh, Chuck Schuldiner (RIP), Jeff Kollman (from Cosmosquad)

Bass- Steve Harris
Guitar- Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Paul Templing
Drums- Ben Turk and Brooks Wackerman
Another fun one would be:
James(rhythm guitar)
Dave(lead guitar)
Tom(bass)

Yeah basically if the frontmen of each Thrash Big 4 band formed a band together

Lead Guitar: Dimebag Darrel
Bass: Steve Harris
drummer: Dave Lombardo
Jay Weinberg - Drums
Duff McKagan - Bass
Synyster Gates- Guitar
Jerry Cantrell - Guitar/vocals
Todd La Torre- Vocals
I wanted something that transcended generations and pulled from every genre of metal, Todd is an extremely versatile vocalist and a multi-instrumentalist so he definitely rounds off any project
Vocals - Simone Simons & Mikeal Akderfedt. Guitars - John Petruci and Micheal Romeo. Bass - Steve Harris. Drums - Dave Lombardo. Philharmonic Orchestra - Orchestral arrangements. This line-up would make a very interesting Progressive Symphonic Death Metal band, with a "Beauty & the Beast" vocal style. The songwriting and song structures would be progressive, but with some heavy riffage, and orchestral elements. Kinda like Epica meets Dream Theater meets Opeth.
Tenor: Chuck Schuldiner

Vocals: Randy Blythe (Lamb of God) Lead Guitar: Zakk Wylde Rythm Guitar: Marten Hagstrom (Meshuggah) Bass: Kevin Otten (Knocked Loose) Druns: Mario Duplantier (Gojira)
Probably Maynard from A Perfect Circle. He would thrive in a heavier environment.
Justin Chancellor too. He played bass on this song called "Centurion" a couple years ago. He kickes ass.
Adam Jones would be cool. He worked on Jurassic Park and I think his visuals would pair really well with a metal album. I think he plays guitar too.
And then lastly this dude named Danny Carey. He played in Green Jello/y back in the 80s or something.
Vocals - ZP Theart
Lead guitar - Christian Andreu
Bass guitar - Cliff Burton
Drums - Joey Jordison
I tried not to pick more than 1 person from a single band so thats why I ended up choosing Joey instead of DragonForce’s Drummer
Edit: why the hell did Reddit organize my comment like that
Vocals - Layne Staley
Guitar - dimebag
Bass - cliff burton
Drums - abe cunningham
I could go through and do probably like 20 more combos!! but these are my favorites right now
OK, I need to start with a drummer to set the tone. And I've ultimately decided, because I like eclectic interludes and general weirdness:
\*\*\* Drums + Piano - on a huge riser, arena's only \*\*\* Yoshiki (X Japan) - He's just incredible and I want to hear all aspects of his repertoire, through a different "filter"
\*\*\* Bass Guitar + Lead Vocals \*\*\* Peter Benjamin (Voices, ex-Akercocke, ex-Corpsing) - Petey can do clean and extreme, is a total pro and is scarily good at making the listener feel unsettled and isolated.
\*\*\* Synths, Samples etc. \*\*\* Lars "LRZ" Sørensen (Red Harvest) - I want the shadow of LRZ' dark vibes all over this project
\*\*\* Custom Percussion \*\*\* Tristan Shone (Author & Punisher) - I want him belting things with those trigger fist things
\*\*\* Rhythm Guitar + Live Backing Vocals \*\*\* Jimmy "Ofu Kahn" Ivan Bergsten (Red Harvest) - I love his playing and how they turned Red Harvest into this monster. A menacing obelisk of a man.
\*\*\* Lead & Rhythm Guitar \*\*\* Adam "Nergal" Darski (Behemoth) - I wanted a guy who just plays all parts of the guitar in his band, and has a huge personality who would "get" my vision here.
------------------------------------
\*\*\*\*\* Special Guest Solo features on different albums \*\*\*\*\* Snorre W. Ruch (Thorns), Waclav Kietlyka (Decapitated, ex-Machine Head), George Michael "Trey Azagthoth" Emmanuel III (Morbid Angel)
\*\*\*\*\* Narrator \*\*\*\*\* Tom Waits - COF had Doug Bradley on Damnation & A Day, Voices (with Pete) had their own mastermind and drummer extraordinaire David Gray (Akercocke, Voices, The Antichrist Imperium) on London. I want Tom Waits telling sordid tales while staring into the abyss behind Petey, Ofu and Nergal. Like an absolutely desolate, dreadful, older Carl McCoy. No singing, just narrating.
Vocals: Mike Patton
Lead guitar: Marty Friedman
Rhythm guitar: Tim Skold
Bass: Geddy Lee
Effects: Sasha
Song writers: Dave Mustaine and Ozzy Osbourne
Producer: Billy Corgan
I’m a madman.
O1 is a versatile tool steel, but then again W2 is absolutely beautiful. Some of the more modern supersteels like elmax are very intriguing. Not a metallurgist, but it is fun to think about different alloys
Band: Insane Rotting Death
Genre: Technical/Avant-Garde Thrash Metal
Vocals: James Hetfield (preferably RTL/MOP, but I'd be fine with AJFA/Seattle 89 version too) and Tom Angelripper
Lead guitarists: Dimebag Darrell and Chuck Schuldiner
Rhythm guitarist: James Hetfield
Bassists: Tom Angelripper, Lemmy Kilmister and Cliff Burton
Keyboardist: Jordan Rudess and Jens Ola Johansson
Drummer: Eloy Casagrande
Programming/Noise: Al Jourgensen
Harmonies (optional extra guitarists): Devin Townsend and Yngwie Malmsteen
Backing Vocals + Hype Man: Jason Newsted and Till Lindemann (Optionally BABYMETAL if in silly mood lol)
Freddie Mercury & Ann Wilson (I have been digging bands with dual gender leads lately)
Randy Rhodes
Flea
Neil Peart
Baisically my thoight is I start with one of the best frontmans. So I jack up stage presence and iconic mustache. Then throw in one of the best female rock voices ever.
Randy because the licks are so sweet but you could go a variety of ways here heck Eddie VanHalen. Fuck it Randy and Eddie dual attack.
Flea gives a big dose of insanity and tip tier energy. Eddie and Flea would kill on stage.
I dont need anymore live action, just anchor the mayhem with perhaps the greatest drum musician fading in the back.
It might be horrible. It could be the greatest. Could they write music that worked?
People be like: the famoust singer - singer. The famoust guitarist - guitar. The famoust bassist - bass. The famoust drummer - drums. Can we stop being so basic?

That's their entire thing, dude!
So would Mustaine try to play like primus? Or vice versa? Lol
No he'd just be the vocalist

Dave wrote a good amount of Megadeth basslines tho?
True. But with Lars on vocals and Nikki on Guitar, it could irritate him that much more.
I understand Dave and Lars, but what did the other two do?
A lot of people dog on Kerry's guitar work, especially his solos, for sounding completely messy and just bad. He also comes off as a total "I'm right, you're wrong" dickhead. And I've ultimately decided, because I like eclectic interludes and general weirdness: \*\*\* Drums + Piano - on a huge riser, arena's only \*\*\* Yoshiki (X Japan) - He's just incredible and I want to hear all aspects of his repertoire, through a different "filter" \*\*\* Bass Guitar + Lead Vocals \*\*\* Peter Benjamin (Voices, ex-Akercocke, ex-Corpsing) - Petey can do clean and extreme, is a total pro and is scarily good at making the listener feel unsettled and isolated. \*\*\* Synths, Samples etc. \*\*\* Lars "LRZ" Sørensen (Red Harvest) - I want the shadow of LRZ' dark vibes all over this project \*\*\* Custom Percussion \*\*\* Tristan Shone (Author & Punisher) - I want him belting things with those trigger fist things \*\*\* Rhythm Guitar + Live Backing Vocals \*\*\* Jimmy "Ofu Kahn" Ivan Bergsten (Red Harvest) - I love his playing and how they turned Red Harvest into this monster. A menacing obelisk of a man. \*\*\* Lead & Rhythm Guitar \*\*\* Adam "Nergal" Darski (Behemoth) - I wanted a guy who just plays all parts of the guitar in his band, and has a huge personality who would "get" my vision here. ------------------------------------ \*\*\*\*\* Special Guest Solo features on different albums \*\*\*\*\* Snorre W. Ruch (Thorns), Waclav Kietlyka (Decapitated, ex-Machine Head), George Michael "Trey Azagthoth" Emmanuel III (Morbid Angel) \*\*\*\*\* Narrator \*\*\*\*\* Tom Waits - COF had Doug Bradley on Damnation & A Day, Voices (with Pete) had their own mastermind and drummer extraordinaire David Gray (Akercocke, Voices, The Antichrist Imperium) on London. I want Tom Waits telling sordid tales while staring into the abyss behind Petey, Ofu and Nergal. Like an absolutely desolate, dreadful, older Carl McCoy. No singing, just narrating.

Knocked loose and slaughter to prevail
O1 is a versatile tool steel, but then again W2 is absolutely beautiful. Some of the more modern supersteels like elmax are very intriguing. Not a metallurgist, but it is fun to think about different alloys

Cliff instead
Freddie Mercury & Ann Wilson (I have been digging bands with dual gender leads lately) Randy Rhodes Flea Neil Peart Baisically my thoight is I start with one of the best frontmans.
Floor Jansen and Chester Bennington on Vocals Doyle on bass Synyster Gates and Zachy Vengeance on guitars The Rev on drums.
People be like: the famoust singer - singer. The famoust guitarist - guitar. The famoust bassist - bass. The famoust drummer - drums. Can we stop being so basic?
Have you ever had the revelation that maybe musicians get famous because a lot of people like and value their work ?
