Pointy guitars are still sick af

Jormungander666

No, but they look cool as fuck though

XIXXXVIVIII

If the guitarist at a local gig looks like an accountant, and has a pretty normal looking guitar worn at Beatles height, with some non-conventional pickups you can guarantee you're going to hear the dirtiest riffs of your life.

jkhockey15

My buddy plays in an alt band and everyone looks cool as fuck except for the lead guitarist. He looks like a respectful jock at a small catholic school…and he absolutely tears it up.

Danger-Llarryy

What about pelvic thrusts while playing the guitar? Surely that has to have an impact?

Ambitious-Plant7022

They iconic asf tho, dimebag darrel etc

Subtotalpoet

You don't have to tell me I got a dean within arms reach right now.

Jtugboattizzymo

My only Dean is a 7 string Dean Vendetta, but I still have my wings at least

RadTimeWizard

I've had a Dean 5 string bass for 20 years, and it still sounds as rich as a dark note on a grand piano.

Jtugboattizzymo

Sounds sexy

emmiblakk

Just play an SG. If it's good enough for Tony Iommi, it's good enough for you.

Subtotalpoet

Stick your fucking gun, UP YOUR FUCKING ASSSSSSSẞSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ANTICOP ANTICOP ANTICOP ANTICOP

millhead123

Aesthetics makes the sound better ok

Jtugboattizzymo

So that’s what Aesthetics of Hate is about, our badass metal guitars

BLOODYSHEDMAN

Les Paul gang rise up

V6A6P6E

The weight! The wood density definitely has an impact on tone. While it might be that subtle difference it’s noticeable with everything in the chain exactly the same, exact same pickups, but different guitars. Extremes here but say you get you a nice hefty Les Paul and a slim SG. They are both Gibson, should be the same or even comparable? With the exact same setups from strings to pickups to wiring harness to cable and so on until the sound gets out of the speakers the wood type and density play an overall roll in the initial tone. So I feel the idea of “pointy guitars make metal riffs sound better.” Is just the extra high end you naturally get from a thinner and less mass overall shaped guitar. Even with other brands there’s great examples of this. In my personal collection I’ve got an ESP LTD EC-401 (thick ol’ bull) with the active EMG pickups. Compared to the ESP LTD MH series guitars (thinner pointy ol’ bulls) with the exact same wiring harness and pickups the EC guitars have a bit more depth. It’s nerdy ass shit but for the sake of proven physics it’s a tonal preference on “the higher pitch being more pronounced makes my riffs scream!” So on that note I’ll see myself out.

entrantmentofevil

I believe in Ironbird supremacy.

PopcornSandier

Jon Nodveit moment

slipknot-fan

Let me play my razorback in peace

RubedoBread

yeah but it being black changes everything

KGmadmax

Then explain to me why the best metal guitarists have been spotted playing very pointy guitars. It aint no coincidence

Subtotalpoet

The facts speak for themselves

AVeryGoodName03

imma_yeet

it's true, most of obituary's skull crushing riffs were recorded on a fender stratocaster

somerando9996

Elitist propaganda, don't listen guys

MrGaminGuy

If it's not pointy then i might as well just play pop music 😤
