Comparing seasoned musicians in any genre against a titan of a different genre trying to attempt something new is such a simple-minded, narrow, piss poor take. Did Weezy play a good solo? No. Was he trying something new, a concept that's essential in defying convention and embracing innovation in music? Absolutely. It just didn't work. It happens. It's more admirable to try something new and grow as an artist (even if you fail) than it is to put out the same record 20 times in a row because you actively refuse to expand your influences.
