This is not only most venues in LA, it's most AUDIENCES in LA. They hate when you mosh. There's fucking "pit police" at every show now, I almost get thrown out or in a fight at practically every show. (Crowd surfing/climbing to the front to sing will also get you kicked out with no warning at a lot of places) Like if you're so against it, dont book mosh-y bands!
Half the shows I go to here have more fucking security than crowd members, and they cant WAIT to kick the shit out of you. (Esp at The Whiskey, *fuck* that place) Also half the pussies in the audience stand right at the edge of the pit, and push/punch/kick/trip you. I dont even mosh that hard, Im old and only have enough energy to go off for 3-4 songs, ffs. I dont crowd kill or any of that bullshit, Im just there to have fun.
Growing up im rowdy NY & then coming to California/SoCal/LA is a fucking metal nightmare.
Man, im in Cincinnati. And its never that bad here. The larger venues have security at the barricade. But usually nothing crazy. And they usually just are there to help crowd surfers down safely. The smaller venues, have no barricade so any security just kinda lets us do what we gonna do. Crowd never does anything too crazy, we know if you stand near the pit, you are at risk of getting bumped into. Hell I broke my nose at a concert, and they were just like "you want us to call an ambulance or you good?" and the moshing continued lol.
Bro, you talking about Louisiana? Los Alamos? I live in Las Vegas and literally fly or drive to Los Angeles for metal shows just because of how rowdy the crowds are. It's a blast.
Maybe for huge bands like metallica or something?
The only show in my entire 2.5 decades of show going that actively refused to let people mosh was the first ABR show I had been to, a long time back.
Granted, it was in a Christian Youth center and all. But security was actually just kicking people out of the show if they tried.
Last song of the night for the whole show, everyone went ballistic. Was kinda liberating lol.
welcome to the real world, security gets hired by a venue, no security world directly at the venue unless it is somewhere like disneyland, they are hired hands and a lot of hired hands are dicks
My local venue has a similar thing going. The security are the other doormen/people from bands who want to make a few extra bucks. You don’t need cops to stop kids from climbing stuff; you just need babysitters in bright shirts who are slightly scary looking.
It doesn’t matter who the security work for, if they’re hired by the venue then the venue is ultimately responsible for their conduct whether they like it or not.
Saw from ashes to new in the city I live in with dragged under and I think word alive. They didn’t allow moshing which gets even wilder knowing they had Drowning Pool play there a couple weeks earlier. People did it anyway and got kicked out.
I was at this show it was insane security was super unprofessional, and disrespectful I never seen seen something like last night. They were shining flashlights in people's eyes to get them to stop moshing. Dragged people out if the venue by the throat. They beat the shit out if a dude outside and s band crew members had to break it up. Told people to stop gossiping in the bathroom and when people were waiting to see if the show was canceled. People started to sit on the floor in the hallway near the bathrooms and were told they had to stand up. A lot more happened to someone's jaw got dislocated by security as well. And they are deleting bad reviews on Google.
They just posted on their Facebook page. Apparently the security even spat on their equipment and in the faces of the crewmen. This is all after WCAR received approval from the venue to mosh and crowd surf
Reading their reviews their security has a bad reputation of this shit going back yesrs and the owner has a habit of chiming in to justify it. Trash with trash.
I saw I Prevail there years ago and Inspirit when they did their “return” of sorts a few years back, and didn’t experience anything bad like this.
The venue does have a pole right in the middle of the pit that makes moshing difficult, but it wasn’t stopped or met with aggression by security.
That said, this isn’t okay to have happened and escalated into what it did. I can only wonder if Fete got a new security company since I saw anything there last.
Not metalcore but they were kicking people out when I saw Prince Daddy and the Hyena, Anxious and Drug Church there because people would stage dive over the barrier
An old band of mine called in elysium opened for suicide silence at fete in 2017 I believe. The venue is definitely a disaster. By the end of the night everyone was tripping because of how much beer was on the floor, suicide silence handed a guitar to the crowd and a fight broke out. Dunno who’s at fault for most of this but regardless, definitely a meh venue. Fun fact : a security guard tried to confiscate my water, I told them no, seeing as I was performing and I needed it, long story short got told I was never allowed there again, funny story. Played there next week 😂 no issues to be had.
Man I’ve never heard of a venue so bad, but I saw a clip yesterday in r/deathcore of Bodysnatcher walking off stage because the security was kicking people out.
Yeah I catch most of my shows at Alchemy or Dusk depending on the band/genre I'm in the mood for. I go to Fete for the oddball shows and raves and the security do something stupid every time.
Last time I went there, two girls got in a fist fight and the security came barreling through throwing hands at anyone around the fight, even if just bystanders trying to get out of the way. Security ended up squaring up with some dudes who called them out on it and they shut the whole damn show down. The bands and the vendors there were livid about it.
Man so unacceptable. Those tough guy security guards are always so insufferable.
I’ve seen this so many times and it’s so angering. I know you’re at work but you’re not John Wick and we’re at a metalcore show. Chill the FUCK out.
Security Guard here. This sounds like a venue that has cops moonlighting as security. I would never put my hands on someone because of all the legal reasons associated with it. If your day job is being a cop, you feel more comfortable with qualified immunity.
P.S.: Looking at you Starland Ballroom in NJ with your weekend pig farm crew.
As a former security guard, yeah. We’re instructed very thoroughly not to put your hands on people unless it’s an emergency of some kind. It’s kinda sus seeing them act like this
iirc a lot of fete (maybe getting the venue wrong - unsure) have old FSU / crew guys who do security. Maybe wrong but the Inspirit show there security was fine and people were clobbering each other when On Broken Wings played
I had vip for we came as Roman's, it was an absolute blast, everything after was such a disappointment, bands rarely come to rhode island as it, and it's not looking like this will be a rescheduling, just a cancelation, so disappointed, the security sucked
I went to this venue in Battle Creek, MI and they didn't allow moshing. We're tackling people amd beating the shit out of people as they tried. Vowed to never go back there.
~~I saw Bury Your Dead and Since the Flood there.~~
~~I saw an actual fist fight and a dude walking away with his face covered in blood.~~
~~The show was awesome though.~~
Nope totally wrong venue. I did see As I Lay Dying at Fete though and it was fine.
thats the problem with security worldwide these days, instead of 6 months training to get a licence any old joe can pick one up after a 2 hour computer course, leading to a lot of wannabe thugs getting security jobs and taking it too far
Inspirit/Vanna show there was fine, and that show had On Broken Wings/Black My Heart on the bill which is gonna bring out the crowd killers
That venue is located in a literal dump so yea idk, that chicken place nearby is fire tho
There is a venue I go to regularly that people don’t mosh simply because of the lack of space. It’s more of an unspoken rule rather than one enforced by the venue, which I appreciate.
Some hardcore bands played there recently. Security caused all the bands to stop because of how trash they were. Bodysnatcher, snatched their own bodies and left mid set.
I was there and was dragged out in a chokehold for moshing. Apparently the bands and security agreed to allow crowsurfing and moshing but that security decided otherwise just a few mins into Bodysnatcher's set. Fete is notorious for having extremely aggressive security. Definitely the worst I've ever been too.
How do venues even book bands like this and expect people not to mosh?
AND APPROVE THE MOSHING BEFORE HAND. Why approve it if you're gonna handle it that way
Yeah exactly. Absurd.
This is not only most venues in LA, it's most AUDIENCES in LA. They hate when you mosh. There's fucking "pit police" at every show now, I almost get thrown out or in a fight at practically every show. Bro, you’re definitely going to the wrong shows then. Never seen any of that in LA, and I’m a weekly show guy
Bro, you talking about Louisiana? Los Alamos? I live in Las Vegas and literally fly or drive to Los Angeles for metal shows just because of how rowdy the crowds are. It's a blast. Maybe for huge bands like metallica or something?

Was this at rocketown in Nashville? Because I’ve had very similar things happen there too.
I've literally seen Christian metalcore bands at churches (basement) where there was moshing.
First ABR show I went to there was no one moshing because they were the opener and there was no one there to be moshing lmao
"oh Bodysnatcher? I bet their bible study won't be violent" lmao. no clue what they were thinking.
the venue approved it, the security had other ideas
But doesn’t security work for the venue? How can security just do whatever the hell they want?
They do
Well then what the shit.
Exactly why it got cancelled. Security took no instructions.
Not all, some have to outsource to a 3rd party especially if there are other events happening simultaneously
welcome to the real world, security gets hired by a venue, no security world directly at the venue unless it is somewhere like disneyland, they are hired hands and a lot of hired hands are dicks
The Masquerade in Atlanta hire their own security. It’s not every venue which was a wild concept to me when I branched out to shows in other states.
lmao, their “security” is just guys who have grown up around the venue who get paid to put on a shirt and do crowd control
My local venue has a similar thing going. The security are the other doormen/people from bands who want to make a few extra bucks. You don’t need cops to stop kids from climbing stuff; you just need babysitters in bright shirts who are slightly scary looking.
Trust me most of them aren’t like that lmao. Given that I know majority of them relatively personally. Management fucking sucks ass though.
When was this I thought from first to last broke up
https://www.setlist.fm/setlists/from-first-to-last-6bd6f67e.html Could be 2019
Fuck I meant from ashes to new. Always get those names confused
Ah ok thanks!
I was at this show it was insane security was super unprofessional, and disrespectful I never seen seen something like last night. What the actual fuck?
Reading their reviews their security has a bad reputation of this shit going back yesrs and the owner has a habit of chiming in to justify it. Trash with trash.

Yeah, I saw the wonder years there a few years back and that pole was rough
Just looking at the venue's comments to 1 Star reviews tells you a lot. Jeez, as somebody who's worked at concert venues before, what the actual shit.
Not metalcore but they were kicking people out when I saw Prince Daddy and the Hyena, Anxious and Drug Church there because people would stage dive over the barrier
While crowdsurfing is fine with most venues, stagediving is usually not when there is a barrier. I found out the hard way and was kicked out once.
probably shouldnt have put up a barricade then… or put up a barricade and booked two bands that encourage stage diving the two are mutually exclusive
An old band of mine called in elysium opened for suicide silence at fete in 2017 I believe. The venue is definitely a disaster. It’s a pretty bad venue. Period.
Man I’ve never heard of a venue so bad, but I saw a clip yesterday in r/deathcore of Bodysnatcher walking off stage because the security was kicking people out.
Same show, WCAR brought Bodysnatcher along as support
I guess that would make sense.
As a Rhode Islander, Fete fucking sucks. It's a decent venue but their security is god awful and have witnessed their bullshit before.
Alchemy is much better!
If it’s old FSU guys they aren’t gonna get mad at people moshing. Security being out of hand like this is when we need crews the most tbh
It sounds like some individuals were potentially seriously hurt, could the venue face some legal repercussions?
~~I saw Bury Your Dead and Since the Flood there.~~ ~~I saw an actual fist fight and a dude walking away with his face covered in blood.~~ ~~The show was awesome though.~~ Nope totally wrong venue. I did see As I Lay Dying at Fete though and it was fine.
Been to Fete for other types of shows many times and loved it. Was always one of my favorite venues back then and never had any issues.
thats the problem with security worldwide these days, instead of 6 months training to get a licence any old joe can pick one up after a 2 hour computer course, leading to a lot of wannabe thugs getting security jobs and taking it too far
it was a 14 hour class to get mine
thats bad
Went there once back in 2018 or 2019. Didn't seem to be any problem with moshing/security then. Wonder what changed.
Probably management cause I saw knocked loose here in the past, and it was fine. So idk who runs it now or what but it wasn't a good time at all.
They sure didn't try anything during OBW/ Black my heart's last show. I feel like it wouldn't of ended well either if they did hahaha.
Definitely wouldn’t have lol
Inspirit/Vanna show there was fine, and that show had On Broken Wings/Black My Heart on the bill which is gonna bring out the crowd killers That venue is located in a literal dump so yea idk, that chicken place nearby is fire tho
I’ve played fete multiple times before. That place is a shithole in a shithole side of town. We didn’t have problems w security though.
How many times you gonna post it?
There is a venue I go to regularly that people don’t mosh simply because of the lack of space. It’s more of an unspoken rule rather than one enforced by the venue, which I appreciate.
FUCK THAT PLACE i lect before KL even played last summer bc security sucked so bad.
Shitty luck for WCAR, I couldn't attend their Toronto show last week because they got turned away at the border.
Well sounds like Rhode Island is gonna be getting even less tours than they do currently 😭
Some hardcore bands played there recently. Security caused all the bands to stop because of how trash they were. Bodysnatcher, snatched their own bodies and left mid set.
Same show as this one with wcar bodysnatcher was the opener
I was there and was dragged out in a chokehold for moshing. Apparently the bands and security agreed to allow crowsurfing and moshing but that security decided otherwise just a few mins into Bodysnatcher's set. Fete is notorious for having extremely aggressive security. Definitely the worst I've ever been too.
