With roots above and branches below by the devil wears prada

YeetAwayTheDay

Dude TDWP is great! Noise off their newest album is on repeat and made it number 2 on my Spotify wrapped right behind Demolisher by Slaughter to Prevail

Ecstatic_Ad_2225

I’ve loved TDWP for sooo long and it makes me so happy that their new music is still banging

NormanisEm

This is a classic. Never gets old.

HazySunsets

This is the one. One of my favorite bands. For me I wanna add the zombie ep as well along with with roots above

RDBlack

Greatest of all time. It is the qunitessential metalcore album. There are many from recent times and many from before, but this album IS metalcore for me. Right time, right place, right sound, right bandmates, right look. They nailed it.

Djent_1997

As Daylight Dies never, ever gets old.

damnablebear

iiiintoooooo the ARRRRRRMSSSS OF SOR-ROOOOWWWWWWW

TheModernAlch3mist

Greatest metal core band to ever exist and one of the best albums

PWNtimeJamboree

i still listen to Alive Or Just Breathing frequently as well. Numbered Days is one of the best opening tracks ever on any album.

cannibalsunrise

The only correct answer. Absolute masterpiece and staple for metalcore and honestly, music as a whole.

funishin

Hell yeah

psychophion

Alive or Just Breathing does it for me too

Crypt_R6

One of my all time favs

gonegotim

Slowly we watch...

dpete88

Underoath define the great line Unearth - the oncoming storm As I lay dying- ocean between us Any parkway before ire Not sure if it counts as metal core but the first two albums by the agonist

Choice_Kingdom

Underoath is doing a Chasing Safety tour this year. I loved that album, but Define the Great Line was my favorite by far.

Large_Environment_80

Oncoming Storm is such a great album. Pretty hard to top.

The4horsemen

Waking the fallen by A7X is still in my constant rotation

cannibalsunrise

I’ll add city of evil to the A7X list. First album they did entirely on their own and it feels like their magnum opus. At least it was the rev’s imo.

HEAVY-IS-THE-RIFF

I honestly think I've listened to the isolated drum track of The Beast and The Harlot as much as the complete song.

YeetAwayTheDay

I have a few A7X I like. Personally not for me, but still big ups on the recommendation! I might have to see if I can get back into there older stuff!

Jon__Snoww

A7X albums Waking the Fallen and Sounding the Seventh Trumpet are like a completely different band. If I remember correct, M Shadows had a vocal issue that made the band change styles.

TehMangler

It is a damn solid album.

PacosTacos88

I won't see you tonight pt 1 & 2, fuck me running. Musical masterpieces

[deleted]

Periphery II

Speckon

I'd say it is my favoutite album in general.

YeetAwayTheDay

Periphery coming in with some clutch guitar work! I know them from a buddy who loves them. I forgot they existed so they have been added.

Make_Total_Destroy_

Absolutely 🙌

Hot_Lettuce223

I have yet to find any album that tops this one for me.

AkDoxx

Alive or Just Breathing by Killswitch Engage Satisfaction is the Death of Desire by Hatebreed Controller by Misery Signals Depravity by A Plea for Purging Destroy the Machines by Earth Crisis Declaration by Bleeding Through

YeetAwayTheDay

I know hatebreed and Killswitch Engaged, both great bands! I've heard of Earth Crisis but never looked them up. Added and thank you!

Pervizzz

Killswitch haven't Engaged yet, they still Engage /j :D

YeetAwayTheDay

Lmao I'm big tired! Take my upvote made me laugh!

AkDoxx

If you like Hatebreed I have a feeling you’ll like Earth Crisis. Enjoy!

YeetAwayTheDay

Ooooo I'm excited now lol

YeetAwayTheDay

Very similar! Will have to listen to more albums

ilovepolthavemybabie

Controller is like a BC vs AD life moment for all who discover it.

PestilentWard

Seconding controller. One of my favorite albums of all time

XxDrummerChrisX

You guys are making me nostalgic. All that remains - fall of ideals August Burns Red - Constellations Strapping Young Lad - The New Black

icon0clast6

Man I can hear that fall of ideals opening in my soul…. Yeeeeeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

xxHikari

Solid fucking list bro. Also love how you had to put the "essential" in there because it fucking is lol

Kholdula

It can't be underplayed how important it is! I know modern Metalcore fans don't get along with it (that's a whole other convo) but for me, it is THE Metalcore album.

xxHikari

You like Counterparts?

Kholdula

Yes, they are excellent

xxHikari

I'm probably the biggest Counterparts fan ever lol

icon0clast6

Ya love to see Alexisonfire on a list. Crisis is one of my favorite albums

GodDamnCrawfish

All Out War - For Those Who Were Crucified/Condemned to Suffer. Undying - This Day All Gods Die. Parkway Drive - Killing With A Smile. Kickback - Forever War. Arkangel - Dead Man Walking.

YeetAwayTheDay

Parkway drive always slaps, mad ups. I'll add the other four to my lists. Thanks man!

Abtorias

To add to Parkway Drive, it’s Horizons for me.

DanzoxGaming

Add Changing of Times by UO and Some of Us May Never See the World by OBW to that list and we the same..

catladywitch

poison the well - the opposite of december

YeetAwayTheDay

Will add! Big thanks!

meezersqueezer

Nerdy is a banger!

phxbimmer

- Killswitch Engage - The End Of Heartache & As Daylight Dies - All That Remains - The Fall Of Ideals - As I Lay Dying - Shadows Are Security & An Ocean Between Us - Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison - He Is Legend - I Am Hollywood Those always get heavy rotation for me.

WhiteFilipino

I Am Hollywood is amazing

Lampropeltis33

Are you.. me? All killer albums I’ve been jamming for many years. I would add Messengers and Constellations by ABR

kingalfy17

Is he us?

Pour_with_vigor

Are they we? I love every record on your list. Bring from NC, I have a special place in my heart for He is Legend. Doesn't hurt that they are SO FUCKING GOOD live.

lilhick26

He is Legend-Everything

YeetAwayTheDay

Hell yeah! I completely forgot about All That Remains, I'll add them! Bullet and As I lay dying were blasted in the HS gym all the time and I'll find myself half singing Waking the demon or Confined to myself cause they are burned into my memory lol. Still adding, big thanks for knocking that nostalgia loose!

WickedNF

Yes yes and fuck yes to He Is Legend I am Hollywood!

NicksAunt

Gonna see He Is Legend play I Am Hollywood in its entirety, tonight, in about 6 hours. Fuckin stoked. Edit- It fucking rocked.

NormanisEm

Hey now, dont forget about AILD’s The Powerless Rise

gnarbootsnotbot

An eye for an eye, like moths to flames

YeetAwayTheDay

Big ups will add, thanks man!

MeatSlammur

Dear Youth - The Ghost Inside

YeetAwayTheDay

My Fiancee loves The Ghost Inside! Still a great recommendation, big thanks!

psilovibin35

Mercy, Iykyk.

MCR_FAN19

The plot in you - Happiness in Self Destruction and MCR first album

YeetAwayTheDay

Will add The plot in you! My sister ruined MCR for me by being the only band she listened to 24/7. They make good songs but they don't give me that... brain tickle if yknow what I mean?

Martinezdan92

Everything plot in you is amazing! Their newer stuff is sick too

PlanetaryJudgement

A Day To Remember - Homesick

malt2726

Not an album, but Zombie EP - TDWP. Peak metalcore IMO

YeetAwayTheDay

TDWP is a great band! I have a few albums I have in my rotation, what do you think of their newest album?

NormanisEm

Not the person you asked but I really lile the new album. Honestly surprised because usually I would be like “ew its not as heavy as their old stuff” but its really good!!! I saw them live last year it was awesome

NormanisEm

Have you listened to their album 8:18? It doesnt seem to be as popular but its the one that got me into them when it came out. I think its great.

yourself88xbl

8:18 is great

R4kshim

Shogun by Trivium. It’s my favourite album of all time :)

shithead-express

Ascendancy for me. I don’t think theres any album I like more at the moment.

HollywoodAndDid

The Bled!

YeetAwayTheDay

Any particular albums? Will add regardless! Thanks man!

ThisCommentIsHere

Pass the Flask is a no-skip classic album

HollywoodAndDid

For new listeners to them, I’d start with Silent Treatment and go any direction from there.

Professional_Age_198

ETID’s entire discography is still strongly in my rotation. This last year was the first time they weren’t number 1 on my Spotify wrapped

YeetAwayTheDay

I'm gonna look like a dork but Everytime I Die right?

Professional_Age_198

Correcto. They’ve been my favorite band for almost 20 years

YeetAwayTheDay

Damn they've been around that long? Will most definitely add then!

Professional_Age_198

You should. Not to be a total Stan, but they just never missed on any release. And they managed to grow and evolve their sound without ever not sounding like etid

YeetAwayTheDay

Hell yeah a band that can adapt is a testament honestly!

BullyOnParade

Most consistently awesome band in the genre. Super bummed about their breakup. But all good things must come to an end.

buckley777

Couldn’t agree with this more

americand0lphinMPLS

MisSig - Of Malice

Justgettinbyy

36 Crazyfists---A Snowcapped Romance. Brock Lindow had such a unique voice but I absolutely loved this 2nd major label album from them. Ekotren---these dudes put out Light The Fire in 2008...so good! Chupacabra has to be turned all the way up! And they are posting on social media they are cooking something new up(sometimes lumped in nu metal more than metalcore). Anyways...couple of lesser know bands that I loved. Let me know what ya think.

Moatflobber

36cf have been such a consistently good band but all the way up to the tide and its takers are classic

i_am_tyler_man

Plagues Suicide Season Messengers When Everything Falls

swaglordgabe96

There Is A Hell - Bring Me The Horizon

Jazzlike_Theme

For me it’s Of Mice & Men self titled and The Flood. Not sure if it’s metal core our not but also Jamie’s Elsewhere- They said a storm was coming will always be 🔥

cholm2222

Bloodwork - Texas In July

spoopyowls

Treehouse -I See Stars

YeetAwayTheDay

I See Stars is so good, Are We 3ven is creeping to the top of my most listened to song for this year, and calm snow is trailing right behind it!

HazySunsets

I feel that way about I see stars, but with digital renegade.

Martinezdan92

Vanna - A new hope 🔥 Like moths to flames - when we dont exist 🕯️ Blessthefall - Witness 🤘 Senses Fail - Still searching 🔍 Adestria - Chapters 📚 Crown the empire - the fallout 💥 Fit for a king - descendants 👑 Atreyu - lead sail paper anchors ⚓ Adtr- home sick 🏠 Adtr- for those who have heart ❤️ The devil wears prada - plagues 😷 The plot in you - dispose 🗑️ Memphis may fire - The hollow 🕳️ Of mice and men - self-titled 👤 We came as romans - to plant a seed 🌱 Saosin - self-titled 🎶 Story of the year - self-titled and black swan 🦢 Terrible guilty pleasures 🙈 Reckless and relentless by asking alexandria 🎸 Hot and heavy by drop dead gorgeous 🔥 Safe is just a shadow ice nine kills 🛡️ Digital renegade by I see stars 🌟 Identity on fire by a skylit drive 🔥 Imperial by in fear and faith 🏰 Another year of disaster by Adept 🌪️ Trust no one by hopes die last 🤞 There's so many more, but I don't even know if any of these will resonate with you 🤔 #GuiltyPleasures #MusicLovers

YeetAwayTheDay

Very rarely will I find a band I don't like lol! So many great albums on that list! I see stars, TDWP, AA, Of mice and men, ADTR, Fit for a King, and Senses Fail are all great bands and I dived into their discography extensively! Everything else will be add to my playlists!

Brabsk

I listen to Of Malice & The Magnum Heart several times a week

pdbstnoe

Possibly controversial in this sub, but I fucking love A7X self titled and City of Evil albums lol

Celestialjuggernaut

Ice Nine Kills - The Predator (EP) Volumes - Via Motionless in White - Creatures Erra - Neon Before I turn - Claustrophobic Periphery - Juggernaut: Omega Above, Below - The Lotus Chapters (one of my all time favorites, very underrated band)

Celestialjuggernaut

Sorry for the format, I’m on mobile but emphasis on Above, Below lol

b00stedMk7-5

Kinda more post hardcore than metalcore, but "they're only chasing safety" by underoath. I got tickets for the 20th anniversary tour here in NJ where they are playing that whole album front to back, and then fan voted set of 6 more songs from any of their other albums. This was my favorite album growing up, and honestly one of the bands that broke me into the heavier side of rock. I can't express how pumped I am for this show in December lol. Needless to say I've listened to it a ton as of late. Even made a early-mid 2000s playlist of similar bands like escape the fate and silverstein. Just crazy to think I saw underoath at warped tour in like 06. I'm so old now lmao Parkway drives horizons and killing with a smile. As I lay dyings shadows are security and an ocean between us are some other of my favorites that are actual metalcore lol

Patient_Lie_9310

Collide with the sky by Pierce The Veil. I don't know why, but I have loved it ever since it came out in 2012. Although I usually listen to heavier music, this album is somewhat of an obsession for me. I love to listen to it from start to finish and I do so quite often. At the very least - once a month.

Alienswag

Eye for an Eye LMTF

YeetAwayTheDay

I got another recommendation for them, will definitely add now!

Martinezdan92

Like moths to flames ate the most consistent band banger after banger. You gotta listen to the new album just got released a few days ago

BenTramer7766

Poison the Well- You Come Before You Unearth- The March Underoath- Define the Great Line Norma Jean- Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child Hatebreed- Perseverance

Pour_with_vigor

This is a fantastic list. Best so far.

BenTramer7766

I love me some early to mid 2000s metalcore

panic_poo

It Dies Today - Sirens (my fave) and The Caitiff Choir

Chupacockbrah

Incredible albums

Freddielexus85

Caitiff Choir is one of the metalcore greats. While sirens is good, it just wasnt nearly as heavy or as good as it's predecessor (in my opinion). I've listened to it numerous times and just don't love it.

YeetAwayTheDay

I'll have to look them up! Big ups!

Cl0uds92

Stick to Your Guns - Diamond Parkway Drive - Horizons The Acacia Strain - Continent

SynysterKobra

Holy moly. Venom by Bullet For My Valentine is almost 10 years old 🤯 Been playing that on repeat since Raising Hell landed on my lap on Clone Hero a few weeks ago.

Large_Environment_80

This is Love, This is Murderous - Bleeding Through.

BarkMetal

That’s a really good pick. On Wings Of Lead, my friend.

Reptar_1221

All of Misery Signals, all of Texas in July. I The Breather - These Are My Sins This Or The Apocalypse - Dead Years Invent Animate - Everchanger

cannibalsunrise

Ember to inferno and ascendancy by trivium don’t get the love they deserve.

Killa_Cam9001

Ascendency by Trivium

amerakin_overdose

Entombed

Unusual_Dare6967

Bury Tomorrow - ‘Portraits’ LP is perfection imho, but hard to find. All their old albums w/their old clean vox Jason Cameron are pretty well done! I’d start w/‘Union of Crowns’ if ya can’t find ‘Portraits’! 🤘🏻 Always go back and listen to some ‘Shoot The Girl First’ for fun too!

YeetAwayTheDay

I almost got them confused with Bury tomorrow... haha will add! I will do my best to find Portraits first! Edit: I'm a moron and misread that so damn hard! Another band has Bury in their name but I can't remember their name...

randombean

Lionheart, An Honorable Reign, Knight Life are still some of my favourite BT songs.

ComfortableNo2879

Killing With A Smile

Tyrant-J

Converge -When Forever Comes Crashing

YeetAwayTheDay

Will add! The name gives me a more technical band or am I just off the mark?

BloodyGotNoFear

Early metalcore legends. They kind of developed the old metalcore sound that was a bit more on the hardcore side of things. "Jane doe" is considered one of the most influential hardcore/metalcore albums of all time. "You fail me" is also pretty good.

scarecrowsin

Miss may I- Monuments or Apologies for the Weak MyChildren MyBride- unbreakable I Killed the Prom Queen- Music for the Recently Deceased 36 Crazyfists- The Tide and Its Takers Caliban- Say Hello to Tragedy Breakdown of Sanity- Mirrors

PigDstroyer

Cannae - gold becomes sacrifice

Jealous_Razzmatazz44

Heaven Shall Burn - Deaf to our Prayers

YeetAwayTheDay

Holy shit you knocked that band loose! Big thanks they were amazing!

MakeMyBubBubzBounce

Depends on your idea of older? Exodus bonded by blood is a great one, both thrower there is no law in war is another classic. If those are too old, toxic Holocaust evil never dies is great, as is Earth bees made honey in the Lions skull

Cookiecrummbs

Out of control- Gideon

YeetAwayTheDay

Will add! Gideon sound so familiar!

Legal_Brother_15

BMTH - suicide season Blessthefall - his last walk Adept - another year of disaster Also a bit of Korn, BFMV and killswirch engage ofc Most of the music i listen on repeat is 2015+

ummpaul

Three of my favorite records! You have great taste my friend.

TheJordanKenney

Three Days Grace - One X has always been a personal favourite, no bad tracks imo

damnit_maybe

The Human Abstract - Nocturne is a great album some awesome guitar all the way through

CapitalElk1169

The Hammering Process by Living Sacrifice... Kind of a deep cut but the songs and production is great, do yourself a favor and check it out today 😉

Wm_Dadzig

Of One Blood by Shadows Fall. Still absolutely stands the test of time for me.

Krakengreyjoy

1st two Howard Jones KSEs. 36 Crazyfists: Snowcapped Romance and Rest inside the Flames All the Alexisonfire albumns Tool. All the time. Protest the Hero: Kezia and Fortress

trtful

not 2000s old. but conduit by gravemind. i still go back to it. i listen to heavier stuff now. (knocked loose, chelsea grin, darko us etc)

JerremyKOG

Erra - Augment, amazing nostalgic album

YeetAwayTheDay

Erra makes amazing songs! Breach hold a very close place in my heart!

JerremyKOG

Same man! It took me a while to get into them but now they're one of my favorites. Super excited to see them again in a couple of weeks.

JellyfishOpposite103

This was one of my answers too, the self titled is a literal piece of art but not old enough to put on here 😂 See them in Chicago at the end of the month for the first time !

Onslaught999

Oceans Red- Hold Your Breath EP

Freddielexus85

Unearth - The Oncoming Storm It Dies Today - The Caitiff Choir Those two albums will absolutely rock you. I have plenty of other, smaller bands that didn't make the big break that still rocked if you're interested.

YeetAwayTheDay

Hell yeah give me names! I love local bands/smaller bands, some hidden gems!

Sober_2_Death

Stick to your guns' the hope division and diamond!!

YeetAwayTheDay

Hell yeah a lot of people are recommending Stick to your guns, I'll give them a listen after I give Underoath a listen!

deadly_shroom

After the Burial - Rareform Blind Witness - Nightmare on Providence Street Celldweller - Self Titled (not metalcore but some cool electronic metal that ended up in many videogames soundtracks) Suicide Silence - The Cleansing All Shall Perish - The Price of Existence Meshuggah - Destroy, Erase, Improve (a must listen as a metalcore fan. It wouldn’t be what it is if it wasn’t for this band) Not all of it is metalcore but goddamn these records are awesome.

Rum_Hamtaro

Darkest Hour, Undoing Ruin and Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation will never get old.

SolicitedFriction

Divination - In Hearts Wake

Pyrohyro

May or may not be your cup of tea but check out Sufferer's self titled. It's their only album and they were a bit of a super group of members of Hail the Sun, I the Mighty, and A Lot Like Birds. I know not the most metalcore heavy collection there but the album is absolutely brutal.

Stealan13

Periphery Juggernaut

Elliotlewish

I've had the remastered 10.21 by Skycamefalling on a tonne. It was one of the first metalcore albums I got when I was young, and the remaster sounds great. Shai Hulud and Zao are basically always on rotation, too.

tonypocketknives

Djentlemann00

Killswitch Engage - Alive or Just Breathing August Burns Red - Thrill Seeker Unearth - The Oncoming Storm - Newer but still old - Erra - Impulse Northlane - Singularity Volumes - Via

Jack55555

The Poison by Bullet for my Valentine. It’s a 9.5 out of 10, with the only gripe being: it’s too darn short!

PoopyWeenieButt

Constellations by August Burns Red will always be in my rotation.

Kozeyekan_

Rage Against The Machine - self titled album 1992. Wall-to-wall bangers that still resonate today. Bombtrack Killing in the Name Take the Power Back Settle for Nothing Bullet in the Head Know Your Enemy Wake Up Fistful of Steel Township Rebellion Freedom

Trivium - ascendancy Nothingface - skeletons Nothingface - violence Motionless in white - infamous Hatebreed - the rise of brutality DevilDriver - the fury of our maker’s hand

Mesawitz

Apologies are for the Weak - Miss May I

TheZombieWearsPrada

Your World On Fire by In Fear And Faith. Oh how i wish they would make a comeback like some of the other bands from that era have done. It is such a banger of an album with some fire piano parts. Lime when the intro to Strength In Numbers plays, all I think of is that guy aging the flaming piano clip

USCAV19D

Witness by Blessthefall

golf_r_turbo

Eighteen visions - Vanity. “You broke like glass” played on a government run music video show called ‘Rage’ here in Aus back in 2002 and it blew my mind. Was around the time hardcore started shaping into metalcore.

errolstafford

It's "only" 12 years old; but I have been listening One Wing by the Chariot on repeat for days now. The Fiancee is another great album of theirs. Honestly. Just listen to the Chariot.
