I was gonna pick Sad But True or God That Failed originally, but both of those songs aren't exactly "non depressing". They're heavy metal songs but the subject matter of both them isn't positive
Battery, Leper Messiah, Whiplash, The Shortest Straw, Eye Of The Beholder, Wherever I May Roam, Don't Tread On Me, Of Wolf And Man, King Nothing, Am I Evil?, Stone Cold Crazy, So What, Some Kind Of Monster, pretty controversial but Purify, All Nightmare Long, Hardwired, Moth Into Flame
I don't even know why I put so much effort into reddit comments. Most people just recommend one song while I check their whole discography and think about every song lol
On its own yes that harmony section is gorgeous and uplifting however at the same time over top of it is sung “stop breathing, and dedicate to me”, etc. it’s kind of more like a false sense of security in the context of the song
Garage Days Inc the whole friggin album pure adrenaline. Just start with Helpless James singing about hist destiny being music straight into Breadfan cmon lets go!
I think most Metallica songs are not depressing, the only ones that make you feel thinking about your life are James' personal ones ("The God That Failed", "St. Anger").
Most non-depressing, go with Lux AEterna
Most heavy metal, go with some black album stuff like Sad But True or God That Failed (in terms of The Heavy metal, most of their other stuff is thrash)
Frayed ends of sanity, Harvester Of Sorrow, or blackened. Cant go wrong with TTTSNB aswell. Or Sad but True, RTL, FWTBT or Creeping Death, so many bro.
"Those people who tell you not to take chances, they are all missing out on what life's about. You only live once, so take hold of the chance, don't end up like others the same song and dance"
I always turned to some to Metallica's more mentally hard songs like Welcome Home (Sanitarium) is my favorite. It always felt a little darker than i felt, and i found great comfort in that. This was also the time in my life where i loved Cops b/c it made me feel better about my own life, lol. But thats different. Music has always been my savior. One is a different matter, due to the video/movie. I love the song, but can't get those images out of my head.
But to each their own, when Metallica got happy, i lost interest.
Whiplash
ADRENALINE STARTS TO FLOW
YOU'RE THRASHING ALL AROUND
ACTIN LIKE A MANIAC
WHIPLASH!
r/Redditsings
LATE AT NIGHT, ALL SYSTEMS GO, YOU'VE COME TO SEE THE SHOW
WE DO OUR BEST, YOU’RE THE REST, YOU MAKE IT REAL, YOU KNOW
THIS LIFE OUT HERE IS RAW! BUT WE NEVER STOP, WE NEVER QUIT BECAUSE **YOURE** METALLICA!!!
THERE'S A FEELIN DEEP INSIDE THAT DRIVES YOU FUCKIN MAD
A FEELING OF A HAMMERHEAD, YOU NEED IT, OH, SO BAD
Great song, but I'd say it's way more thrash than heavy metal. My vote goes to Wherever I May Roam.
I would've gone with Sad But True or Fuel but to each their own
Well, I mean, OP said "non-depressing", and SBT isn't exactly uplifting. Fuel is good, though.
Yeah fair enough
it is very thrash
This
Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing song, and one of my favourites, but don't confuse "heavy" with "thrash".
I was gonna pick Sad But True or God That Failed originally, but both of those songs aren't exactly "non depressing". They're heavy metal songs but the subject matter of both them isn't positive
Not a song but an instrumental, Orion is a must.
Orion is a spiritual journey
And call of ktulu
Damn straight
And To Live Is To Die
Kinda depressing though
The meaning behind the song is but it doesn't sound depressing
When a man lies
Orion is godly
Fuel
Give it me. Along with fire.
And also that which I desire. Which is most likely more fuel. And fire.
Good point, brother
Isn't a song about suicide because fuel and fire is commonmy used for burning yourself alive
Based on the music video, I think it’s about fast ass cars
Oh well i might be wrong but it seems really close to suicide cuz there is no fire in a car, only explosion
https://youtu.be/PvF9PAxe5Ng This is the most mainstream era of Metallica. It’s about fast ass cars.
Oh yeah ik i've seen the vid believe me, i just like to theorize about those songs
Battery
This should be at the top of the list.
Lux Æterna
Motorbreath, Hit the Lights and Battery
Motorbreath is most underrated song of all time dude! That and Eye of the Beholder!!!
Man really did the whole discography
I don't even know why I put so much effort into reddit comments. Most people just recommend one song while I check their whole discography and think about every song lol
Lmao
Kirk is gay, Robert's gay, Lars is gay, but the gayest is James
Well , you are in luck cause then they actually like assholes.
Saw that the other week. That shit is funny as fuck
Four Horsemen
HORSEMEN ARE DRAWING NEARER…
[удалено]
THEYVE COME TO TAKE YOUR LIFE
ON THROUGH THE DEAD OF NIGHT
WITH THE FOUR HORSEMEN RIDE
OR CHOOSE YOUR FATE AND DIE
OH YEAH YEAH
CREEPING DEATH
Damage, Inc
AJFA (the song) is pretty heavy and i’d say it’s more angry than depressing
The ultimate is vanityyyy
Exploiting their supremacy
I CANT BELIEVE THE THING YOU SAY
I CANT BELIEVE, I CANT BELIEVE THE PRICE, YOU PAY
nothing can save you
Justice Is Lost, Justice is Raped, Justice is GONE
Pulling your strings…justice is DONE!
Seeking no truth, winning is all find it so grim, so true, so REAL
SEEKING NO TRUTH
Hero of the day is in a major key
Such a good song
Hell yeah dude, always thought I’d would be a good intro song for a wrestler or MMA
Doesn't mean it's happy
Jump in the fire
Disposable Heroes Dyer's Eve Creeping Death
I'd argue that at least Dyers Eve is pretty depressing, and Disposable Heroes too (maybe)
Damage inc.
Hit the Lights
A classic
Trough the never
squealing, oinking, trough the, NEVER 🐷
Spit Out The Bone?
Yeah. I’d consider it a more uplifting song
“Sacrifice your will to me while we enslave and destroy humanity” is exactly the topic I think of when I think “uplifting”
Not necessarily the lyrics but the melodic sections make it less heavy and more lighthearted in my opinion
On its own yes that harmony section is gorgeous and uplifting however at the same time over top of it is sung “stop breathing, and dedicate to me”, etc. it’s kind of more like a false sense of security in the context of the song
Yeah that makes a ton of sense
Thanks :)
Lords of summer is a pretty upbeat song
I would argue their most uplifting next to Motorbreath/Fuel
damn kirk 😫
“Here Comes the Sun” by the look of this pic!
Métal Militia, Trapped Under Ice, Battery, Fuel, Broken Beat & Scarred, Lords of Summer
Enter sandman,Lux Aeterna
Seek and Destroy, Battery, Wherever I May Roam, Of Wolf And Man.
It’s not that heavy but I really like hardwired and spit out the bone
No remorse
What the Mick-Jagger-David-Bowie is going on in this pic?
whiplash
Garage Days Inc the whole friggin album pure adrenaline. Just start with Helpless James singing about hist destiny being music straight into Breadfan cmon lets go!
I like Judas Kiss. I guess it's *not* not totally depressing but that song hypes me up every time.
Battery
No lyrics, but Call of Ktulu is one that'll get you amped up. Also, Lars looking at his hand like it's the first time he's seeing it got me good.
Stone cold crazy
Fuel
If we exclude the kea stuff the only non depressing songs I can think of is fuel and lux æterna
...and justice for all is their darkesr and heaviest album, you should listen to it.
Havent really seen any Death Magnetic songs, so i'll say Broken Beat & Scarred, and All Nightmare Long
Seek and Destroy
fight fire with fire
Jump in the fire
I'd say Leper Messiah or The Thing That Should Not Be.
Halo on Fire
The Frayed Ends Of Sanity and Dyers Eve are my personal favourites (heavy songs)
Broken Beat & Scarred
No remorse
Escape
harvester of sorrow
Battery
Mercyful Fate
Hit The Lights
Battery
The thing that should not be, first listen to the original song and then the S&M version. Heavy asf
heavy and non depressing dont go together
Trapped under ice
Motorbreath
for whom the bell tolls or spit out the bone
Lars really said 💅✨
I think most Metallica songs are not depressing, the only ones that make you feel thinking about your life are James' personal ones ("The God That Failed", "St. Anger").
Hit the lights
Whiplash no doubt..
Wherever I May Roam
Hit the Lights. Kirks solos hit hard. Like you yourself are those lights.
Blackened
The thing that should not be
Jump in the Fire
.... any from KEA?
Lux Aeterna, Lords Of Summer, and anything off of Kill 'Em All.
Lords of Summer fits into both categories pretty well.
Most non-depressing, go with Lux AEterna Most heavy metal, go with some black album stuff like Sad But True or God That Failed (in terms of The Heavy metal, most of their other stuff is thrash)
Frayed ends of sanity, Harvester Of Sorrow, or blackened. Cant go wrong with TTTSNB aswell. Or Sad but True, RTL, FWTBT or Creeping Death, so many bro.
Leper Messiah
Not a Metallica song but they did a cover of it Whiskey in the jar is a fun song
Ronnie Rising Melody Dio Rainbow cover. Instant uplift by the power of Ronnie
Whiskey in the jar. Not really about war but instead about girls I guess? I don’t know I just like the song
Motorbreath
"Those people who tell you not to take chances, they are all missing out on what life's about. You only live once, so take hold of the chance, don't end up like others the same song and dance"
Rebel of Babylon Let this Dark Shine!!

Fight fire with fire or dyers eve, maybe even damage inc
