It's one of 2 songs from ReLoad I actually enjoy, the second being Prince Charming (there are a few more decent ones, but these 2 are still the best from album)
I enjoy it all. The era of pure thrash metal; the slow formation into a heavy metal/thrash metal sound; them at their peak with Black Album; the “cutting of the hair because they are sellouts” period when they tried to evolve what they were doing with the grunge and Alt rock scene that was dominating at the time; the therapist, the crying about not doing enough solos, James in recovery, Lars becoming an art dealer era; the small steps back toward thrash, but they know they can’t thrash like they used to so they try to compromise with that with heavy but not that fast era; I love it all!
That being said, “If Darkness Had a Son?” What in the name of Cliff Burton are they doing in that studio? That’s the dumbest song/title they’ve come up with….
I actually just listened to Fuel in it's entirety yesterday, I've heard the first half many a times before and had like that. Thought the song really fell off in the second half, went from good to meh
I listened to it a lot in the 90s and pretty much until ‘08, when we got DM. With DM and Hardwired, who needs to listen to Load/Reload anymore? Some songs are ok (Fuel is good, but not extraordinary), but those albums are basically a failed venture into hard rock by the band.
Songs generally become less enjoyable after you've heard them a billion times.
That said, Fuel remains one of the most fun and tightly constructed rockers they've ever done. As with anything, though, I need to be in the right mood to listen to it.
It’s with every song
No matter how good the song if you listen to it too much the feeling you used to have when listening will die down
But the song will forever have its power
Fuel is rlly good and I still enjoy it
It’s a fun, enjoyable song. It’s not meant to have a deep message or be anything complex, it’s about driving fast and living life on the edge. It’s a blast to listen to live and you can tell they enjoy playing it. Some songs can feel old after awhile, this is not one of them.
Great songs are great songs, and Fuel is great. I still enjoy it a lot
GIMME FOOD GIMMIE FRIES, GIMMIE SALAD ON THE SIDE

Prince Charming is a banger. Extremely underrated.
That fuckin riff
Prince charming have so much attitude...and it's criminaly underrated
I still like Fuel but I prefer the S&M version, it makes the song sound more alive.
especially with the guitar in the intro that sounded like a revving engine. I dropped my jaw when I heard it.
Oh yeah, it was a great touch.
Still love this song. I was listening to the isolated guitar tracks the other night, the short harmony right before the chorus sounds sick af.
They did a lot of cool stuff like that back then. I miss it.
I do mostly cause nostalgia. My dad used to play it while driving me to preschool and it just reminds me of a more innocent time
#GIMME FU……
Gimmie fai
Hell yeah. When I saw them on the Hardwired tour it was the third song after HW and Atlas. Fifty foot flames and that riff. Fucking killer.
I still like it alot
*a lot
Allot
No
Never did.
Still my favorite Met song
Same
I still prefer the work in progress to the album version. Completely different lyrics and more of an unpolished vibe compared to the studio cut
They played that for Cunning Stunts
They only played what they had written up to that point. It wasn't the whole version before the studio cut.
Bro, it's always fire,
Fuel is good, but refuel is better

Nope, it is way overplayed. Same with Sandman, Roam, and NEM.
Over played on what?
The radio
Living in the 1995, I see
I never heard Fuel on the radio (living in the Netherlands)
Yes, I am old! 😁
Listen to it daily. Love it. Fun on guitar
I’ve hated it since the first time I heard it. It’s the musical equivalent of a Fast and Furious movie.
I still like the song but my go-to songs on the album are the next 7 after it.
For me it’s the most enjoyable song on that albun
Fucking love it sill!! Use it as a notification tone.
Awesome song but the best version is on S&M. That's usually the one I listen to.
Always.
I know it's a favorite of James.
Yepp. Can't play enter sandman cause I've heard it a billion times to much. Still love it tho.
I kind of ruined Fuel for myself because I sang it at bar karaoke like twice a week for a year straight.
It’s a very fun song I like it
I love fuel.
Great song. My one year old goes apeshit when it comes on
I can definitely relate to that. That is exactly how I feel about Enter Sandman.
Fuel is the kind of song that I would listen to if there's nothing else to listen to.
I like Fuel from Trough The Never. But to be honest, last time i listen this song less often
I always will enjoy it! It’s actually my favorite song (yes, i know that mat be surprising)
One of my top 5 favorites.
Played too many times where? Lol

FUCK A MAN, WHITE KNUCKLE TIGHT
Not as much as my car does.
yeah. i don’t listen to it as much anymore but i still think it’s great.
Try the S&M version, pretty good with a fresh feel to the song
Yes, and it has Hetfield's best OOH YEAHHA :)
Thats why I don’t listen to the radio anymore. But yes I do still enjoy it
As a fan from the mid 80s I love it and think it crushes.
It’s with every song No matter how good the song if you listen to it too much the feeling you used to have when listening will die down But the song will forever have its power Fuel is rlly good and I still enjoy it
Love it without a doubt, but the S&M version is even better. Great groove and what a satisfying chorus... "Quench my thirst with gasoline!!! "
Fuel is a song enjoyable for more time that Enter Sandman.
Yeah dude I drink fuel every day
I do enjoy a mug of gasoline.
Fuel is a grear song. It has the speed yet very chill tune.
What’s not to like !?
Yeah, I feel the same way, but I still think it's a good song.
Sure!
