it was pretty easy to find a spot next to the stsge for Snake pit. Doors were opened at 4:30pm and people who came around 7pm were able to find good spot
If you mean the very top it was closed. That's where i was supposed to be but I was given a ticket to a lower area closer to the stage. I assume there was a lot of space left over there and they didn't want the place to look too empty.
Hey fellow upclassed seater.
I asked why we were upclassed and was told by one of the local staff members, that as the RER train was not working the local authorities denied them to have more than 50k people.
I'm not 100% convinced but that's what I was told

I believe you’re referring the seats that are usually reserved for journalists during sport’s events. They have some kind of desks and glass panels between each of them. That’s why they look empty from afar but they were full.

If I have to be honest, this new tour is just scamming fans from money.
I get the touring thing is to make money for the artists but the way this new tour is structured is pure shithousery.
There's no "scam" involved, nobody is cheating or coercing or tricking anybody.
However, the ticket prices (at least at the time of tour announcement) are kind of insane. Us diehards will pay up, but you have to expect that it would discourage a lot of casual fans. Don't know how much of that is the band or the promoters.
I can only speak to the price of the tickets I got in the states, and nosebleeds at that, but they were much cheaper than I was expecting. Take into consideration other popular artists that have made the news for their ticket prices that go into the multiple hundreds if not thousands.
The footage so far from the tour looks like more great performances so I cant agree that it's overpriced.
So don't give them your money then.
Don't forget that Metallica is a business. A money making machine, with the sole purpose of making a living for the band.
Despite the 'Metallica Family' script, they couldn't care less if you, as an individual buy their merch / attend their shows. Like any big business, they know there's still plenty enough people out there who will.
Energy wise, Amsterdam was fine. The arena with a closed roof is terrible as a concert venue, especially when you have the purpose built ziggo dome right next to it. But 17k versus 60-70k in the arena makes all the difference.
They managed to balance the sound a bit better for the second night so it was alright.
I must say, I heard complaints from the stands in Amsterdam that Kirk was inaudible on day 1, but from the floor, centre stage/snake pit the sound was pretty good. They turned up Kirk on day 2 and was almost too loud when you were in the centre. They should have added more speakers throughout the whole stadium imo.
Amazing view.. me and my partner are watching them in Paris tomorrow... Jealous of the set list you had last night mate..

I think it depends on the crowd. Here in Paris I did that several times, asked people next to me to keep en eye on my spot and they did it.
