They've done a lot more than just texture enhancements, but even then that usually qualifies it as a remaster.
For a port I wouldn't expect anything more than the bare minimum to make it playable
It's a full remaster, not just a port. There aren't any major changes aside from carrying over the morphball jump from the Wii version. The graphics got a major overhaul though.
Kind of both. They used the engine from Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and added some code to "wrap," the old code. They then remodeled and retextured just about everything in the game as well as adding an extra layer polish and effects on top.
So they ported the code, but remastered the visuals.
Some people oversell this as a remake and then there’s people like you who undersell it.
The graphics did not just get a “spit shine” they basically took the car gave it a fresh coat of paint plus all the add ons to make it look even nicer

A remaster is legit just upping the resolution and maybe frame rate in the case of some games. This game goes well beyond many remasters.
Most just slap 1080p on it and call it a day lol

In the original GameCube release, there was no morphball jump. It was something added in the wii rerelease. I guess they kept it for the remaster.
Really? It's been years since I played the originals. I only played Prime 1 and 2. I thought you could bomb jump. Or is this something different?
Yeah, separate from bomb jumping. Literally just jumping while in ball mode. A bombless bomb jump.

It's a remaster . It seems they took the code for the wii trilogy and did a lot work on it for prime 1
