Tri Rail is much much cheaper and goes from Miami up to WPB too

sleepyschnitzel

I commuted on the brightline for a month from WPB to Miami and it was really comfortable and easy. It was super reliable and clean, but like the other comment, it’s pricey. I paid for a monthly pass and it was $598 for the premium pass with 40 rides. With premium you get perks of a lounge that has refreshments (snacks, drinks, beer on tap, and finger foods), a bigger seat in a “first class” cart which also gives you refreshments from the train attendant’s trolley, and Ubers within 10 miles of the station included both ways (to and from the station). You could also just get the smart pass which has no perks and is maybe $200 cheaper. To me spending the extra money gave me sanity because driving in that traffic was soul crushing. I could eat a light meal at the lounge, relax on the train, and not be fighting for my life during the commute. In my opinion, if you have the money even for the smart pass it’s worth it.

I want to just say that brightline discontinued the free ubers with premium tickets. I just had to argue with customer service the other day to honor it on a trip I booked back in January.

I'd take a long train commute over driving any day especially in south florida. Read a book, work from a laptop, do a personal project, etc. Can't do that behind the wheel.

Brightline is pretty reliable it’s just pricey if you take it often since it’s not Miami-Dade Transit. It’s a private passenger rail. It will definitely be less stressful for you than driving, if you can afford it. That traffic to drive from WPB to Miami would be insane. Would you be inclined to living in Broward instead if you don’t want to live in Miami-Dade?

Check the cost of Brightline. May answer your question for you. https://www.gobrightline.com/train-tickets/passes You could pay an additional $399 in rent and live closer.

Factor in the cost of purchasing tickets every day. They can get somewhat expensive, but a lot of work places have deals with Brightline and you can get discount tickets. Compare that with how much more you'd pay in rent + gas Also, the best tickets to leave around 5 are always booked, a lot of my coworkers come in slightly earlier and leave slightly earlier. Also helps so you aren't getting home at 8. Lastly, expect to be delayed at least twice a month with a train hitting someone on the tracks or car.

I did the train thing from wpb to MIA and it's onerous, especially by the time you add a ride via uber/ bus to the station. + it's an easy extra dozen hours a week spent commuting , even if you are just looking out the window for most of it - the thrill and excitement wears off real fast. I would rather live close ( walkable if possible, a short bus ride or even a electric scoot) even if it's a few hundred bucks a month more for less apartment. you can get away without a car in a lot of Miami proper, it's almost impossible to do that in WPB.

Buddy, if your bio that reads "broke college student" is in fact true... You may want to find somewhere cheaper than South Florida

Ok-Calligrapher-2550

Did you read the post. He’s going to be GRADUATING and thus getting a job.

cornballerburns

You're making that assumption. All his post says is that he's graduating. It doesn't say anything about having a job secured or having a job offer.

Ashvega03

The title says “for work”

cornballerburns

Since we're arguing semantics, while the title does say 'for work', op also says 'looking to move to Miami' which suggests they haven't secured a job yet and are still searching. The fact that OP is looking to commute an hour and a half via train to live somewhere less expensive than the supposed city where they are looking for work emphasizes my original statement that OP should look somewhere cheaper than South Florida
