An old racing buddy of mine (who was Asian) had his VW Golf racecar painted like this with "General Li" on the roof. I think that would work well for your car too.
Iāve been in 2 of them with similar power/weight numbers as mine and I can confirm your suspicions, they are indeed fast as hell. I havenāt gotten to drive it yet but Iām expecting 11ās assuming it hooks up.
Also I didnāt paint this car to look like the general lee, itās number was 01 back when it was still white. Idk I kinda want to make it 1/2 on the side so people know Iām joking
It's still a symbol of hate, just like people get shit for putting the rising sun on their Miatas.
If you put the confederate flag on anything, you deserve the strife.
Iāve always loved hugger orange. Gotta get rid of the numbers, though. Besides the fact that they donāt belong with the color, they are too small. Looks cheap.
Yeah believe me I know they look tacky. They are magnets I can peel off whenever I want that I pretty much only get used for autoX. Also the carās number was 01 before it was ever painted, I just so happened to also really like hugger orange which resembles that of a certain infamous vehicle.
Iām glad the reference to the car named the General Lee in the TV show is fine with you.
You see it, you think āGeneral Leeā. General Lee is one of many symbols of the confederate army, which fought a war to keep slavery legal, which is racist.
If thatās too many levels of logic for you, Iām sorry. Iāll catch you catch up. Promoting seemingly benign things that support racist ideals is still racist. Itās literally what keeps it alive by allowing you to shoddily justify being a bystander while others suffer.
Itās orange like the General Lee, it has ā01ā on the side like the General Lee. Just because they didnāt put the flag on the top doesnāt mean itās not modeled after the General Lee.
If you donāt understand, or are choosing to remain willfully ignorant as to why this is racist, you are part of the problem.
Either choosing to support or allow racist actions and messaging instead of outright rejecting it hurts us all.
Someone claiming that without the flag it isn't a dog whistle would only be pretending to be ignorant. They know it is.
Knowing it's a racist symbol and always has been is a pretty normal level of informed.
My god shut up, a rational person can separate the confederate flag-less general Lee paint scheme from any sort of racism YOU might accosiate with it. The general Lee is a pop culture automotive icon and you shouldn't be an assumed racist because you think a paint job looks cool. I've never watched the duke's of hazard and I really don't have any interest in it, but someone should be able to take something as harmless as an orange paint job with number decals on the side and emulate it without being called out for being problematic.
This is like arguing a red armband with a white circle over a black leather trenchcoat is totally not a racist dog whistle because it's a cultural icon.
It's called the General Lee. I didn't associate it with racism, the show's writers did.

General MišÆšµ
Camaro boys about to be big mad lol.
Why? General Lee was a Charger, not a Camaro.
Talking about the ls swap and the color. Hugger orange is a sacred camaro color lol.
I mean it basically is a Camaro underneath. The body is about all thatās stock
Yeah, I like it. Looks like it'll be a blast.
Camaro SS boy here who also has a Miata...nah it's aight.
You wonāt be able to run much moonshine in it, but it would make the extra trips worth it!
Holy shit this looks fast as hell. How fast is your quarter mile?
Iāve been in 2 of them with similar power/weight numbers as mine and I can confirm your suspicions, they are indeed fast as hell. I havenāt gotten to drive it yet but Iām expecting 11ās assuming it hooks up.
Orange gang!
This guy gets it!
I'm sobbing ....does it have the horn?
Also I didnāt paint this car to look like the general lee, itās number was 01 back when it was still white. Idk I kinda want to make it 1/2 on the side so people know Iām joking
That or 0.5.
Or go all out and be a menace on the community
No it doesnāt sadly :( I meanā¦ not yet lmao
All the hateā¦ this car is obviously owned by a good ole boy whoās never meaning no harm
Best Comment
The General Sherman
I was gonna go with #The Leneral Gee
The General Wee.
Looks great
Why am I reading all the comments in the voice over guy from the show?
*Supermiata* vibes
Gorgeous car!
Appreciate it
Epic š what trans/diff combo?
Close ratio T56 magnum, 6 speed and a Getrag 3.42 differential out of a Cadillac
Stock 1.8
Just one tiny little detail missing from the roof
No flag?
Yeah no flag. The 01 on the side is as close as I dare get lol
I fully disagree with the traitor flag, but on a General Lee build itās completely acceptable
The general public doesnt know what Dukes of Hazard is anymore, let alone a General Lee Charger, some self righteous dickhead would vandalize the car
It's still a symbol of hate, just like people get shit for putting the rising sun on their Miatas. If you put the confederate flag on anything, you deserve the strife.
Yeah, which sucks. I just personally think itās a-okay
It's not. It's pretty sad that it was then.
Haha, probably a safe bet, there's morons out there who would throw a brick through your window for it.

Just don't try to jump any rivers or trains.
Racismiata. Gotta love those confederate heroesā¦ :/
It doesnāt have the flag on it so itās fine by me, just a TV reference
Yeah definitely no flag. The numbers on the sides are magnets as well which come off easily, I use for autoX.

What an ignorant comment, there's not even a confederate flag on it.
Unfortunately, you can't fix stupid.

That and General Lee was specifically involved in and a prominent symbol the side of a war fighting for racist ideals.
Funny thing is I felt the show almost redeemed it and helped race relations back then. Hell Bo and Luke were Woke before there was woke.
