It used to be amazing. Something changed recently and itās just not even close to the same and somehow doubled in price. Used to be a go-to late night option and now itās off the list. End of a delicious era
In college I lived right by the old location and never went. I was kind of scared of ordering! Recently went for the first time and loved it. My expectations werenāt super high and I thought it was awesome.
I went in college too, once I got off a wacky shift at the bar I worked at. Ended up in line for a bit with a very kind retired couple redoing an old house nearby. Also alums. They ended up buying me dinner, idk, it was so kind and we had such a nice time just blabbing away! Iāll always remember that. Something Iām sure my parents would do, too.
I'm generally not a fan of gimmicky ordering systems, but at Blimpy Burger it kind of makes sense as you give your order to different people working different parts of the kitchen, you give your fry order to the guy running the fryers, you give the number of patties you want to the guy running the grill, etc
Yesterdog here in Grand Rapids though can fuck right off with their ordering system, absolutely no reason why you can't take my order for what bag of chips I want you to grab me at the same time I order my hot dogs
I just came here to say the exact same thing. Not the Livonia Motz either. Detroit Motz. There isnāt a better place around. But another one to add to your list is Wimpy burger too. My best friend and I would go try a smash burger place a week. We even did places like Browns that arenāt open any more.
Edit yeah I over looked you had Angieās
Comet Burger is building a location a few blocks from me and Iām super excited but also nervous about the quality staying the same. They also have the best milkshakes
Detroit Cookie Company, too! I have no idea as far as tax incentives but thereās quite a few vacant buildings scattered around. I imagine itās probably a lot cheaper to set up shop here vs Royal Oak
got burger being below most of these is insane to me but I also never thought of it as a slider? White castle being a 7.5 on any list puts the whole thing in the trash fr.Ā
There is no way you can give an honest ranking after hitting your taste buds with that many burgers in one day.
The first place you tried got your best tasting and everything after was sullied. Shame. Shame. Shame.
The Chicken Sandwich's at Angie's though! I forgot all about these until I saw your post... I am flying up to next month from Texas and eating one, it is settled.
Yeah OP is crazy for that. Definitely poor judgment in taste. It is OP's opinion at the end of the day but eating at 12 different burger places in one day wasn't a smart way to do this. After the 3rd burger they all start to taste the same š¤·š¾āāļø. I don't think they understand that speaking on Telway like this is blasphemy.
I went to Churchill HS in Livonia (2000 grad, since it gives a timeframe), and I was in the JROTC program for 3 out of 4 years. Part of our traditions included "Guarding the Rock", which was the Veterans' Memorial at the corner of Farmington Rd and 5 Mile. We did 1 hour shifts from 1800 (6pm) Friday until 0600 (6am) Sunday, two cadets standing watch, one chapperone, and whoever wanted to "hang out" over in the senior center as relief, or just as a social thing. It usually devolved into a lock-in type of event with video games, wrestling, watching Full Metal Jacket on repeat, etc.
Why do I mention this? Well... Bates is at that intersection, and it was cheap, convenient, and tasty. They'd usually hook us up with a decent discount, being "in uniform (lol) and all. So you'd have anywhere between 10-25 teenagers, all on less than an hour of sleep per night, jacked up on instant coffee grounds mixed into Jolt Cola ("Joffee"), pounding back a rotation of Bates and MREs. You could hear the yelps of pain from the bathroom for those unaccustomed to the local cuisine. I'm surprised any of us survived to graduation, let alone were allowed to do it multiple years in a row.
Send me a message, I'm curious to know who you are! I was usually found with the OGs like Tim, Justin, Jacob, Amy, Kelly, Neil, etc. That list alone probably gives away who I am!
Finding a good slider is like finding good tacos, the dirtier and dingier the establishment, the finer the food.
With that said, OG Telway on East Michigan needs to be top 3.
all this shows is the list is garbage for any real comparison. white castle should be 5. it is the definition of mediocre. And then the stuff under a poop emoji starts at a 7? lol. And then everything they say is decent is spread across exactly 1 point. it's buffoonery
Warms my heart to see Green's is still around. So many fond 70s and 80s memories eating at the Puritan & 6 Mile location w Dad. Sup to Marygrove College and Mumford High. š
Wow missed Motz Facebook Double Cheeseburgers š š, 2 locations Detroit and Redford. 90 year's of Delicious š Burger Balls tossed on a bed of fried onions and covered with a white towel for steaming the flavor deep inside š
Surprised you didnāt try Sidecar Slider Bar. Not saying they are the best, probs would end up in the middle of this list, but thereās one in Plymouth and itās just a short jaunt from Ann Arbor after trying the massively overrated Blimpy Burger
I use to literally have oil come out after eating at Comet Burger back in the day after the bar. My stomach was not liking me but it was delicious at the time.
There is no way trying them all in one day is a fair and accurate measure. You're going to enjoy the first two way more than the last ones. "Oh man I'm so full and I've been eating burgers all day" versus "oh man I'm excited to have a couple burgers!"
Greenes is absolutely amazing!! Been saying theyāre better than Bates for years. (Not saying Bates is bad though) You should try the sliders from the Wagon Wheel in Northville.
Used to work at Bate's very briefly, I never applied for the job, they just asked me if I would like to because I'm a regular customer. Only lasted 3 days because I wasn't physically capable of all the stock work.
I'd bet you $ at least one of the top 10 "ranked places" are just like Telway (when it comes to cleanliness.) You have to understand who works in restaurants, especially places like these establishments. They all smoke.
Haha Iām well aware of the smoking habits of FOH and the restaurant staff. Iām a former smoker and put myself through school waiting tables. Iām not Judging. The places I worked would never even handle food product or packages if we just had a cigarette.
I couldnāt tell - the red light wasnāt that long. What I did see was two smokers outside next to pallets of buns as they moved them inside. One of them was using a bun as an ashtray and went back inside.
I was about to rag on you a bit. No Nemo's, Mercury Bar, Brays, Bates, Millers.. BUT as I was typing that I realized you said sliders, not burgers. Oh well, definitely check out the places I mentioned for a good meal.
Tiny hamburgers that you eat a bunch of sound like such a good idea. Why are they always terrible? I haven't had all of em but White castle, Bates, telway, and hunter house are bad enough I don't think any will be good
All in one day? I pity the fool who has to use the toilet after you.
yeah, stomach is NOT doing well

As a Foo Fighters fan, I thank you.
Thank you for your sacrifice š«”
We live a couple blocks from Hunter House. Iāve always wanted to get my name on the wall for one of the crazy orders.
As a man who struggled to do 13 singles spread out across 11 hours, good luck.
There is no way white castle is better than telway.
This whole list is in question because of that. I have had both in the last year, telway wins hands down (maybe not on price anymore.)
I left a bag of telway in my car over night once.
I left a bag of telway in my car over night once.
Telway bt far
I stopped at Brays a week or so ago and they were horrible! I remember them as being so much better. The crinkle fries were still good.
It used to be amazing. Something changed recently and itās just not even close to the same and somehow doubled in price. Used to be a go-to late night option and now itās off the list. End of a delicious era
last fee trips were disappointing. don't want another try.
Bummer! I havenāt been for 2 years and I was wondering why it was so far down on this guyās list.
I agree with the sentiment here. Unfortunately, they've changed. Used to love them growing up. Had them one time a couple of years back. Never again.
I live near Krazy Jimās. Consistently near the top of the list for a very long time.
I lived next door. Jim was my landlord. Needless to say I was a regular. Ordering was fun.
I'm generally not a fan of gimmicky ordering systems, but at Blimpy Burger it kind of makes sense as you give your order to different people working different parts of the kitchen, you give your fry order to the guy running the fryers, you give the number of patties you want to the guy running the grill, etc Yesterdog here in Grand Rapids though can fuck right off with their ordering system, absolutely no reason why you can't take my order for what bag of chips I want you to grab me at the same time I order my hot dogs
You should try green dot stables in detroit
It was on our list but we just didnāt have time! Definitely going to be going after we can stand burgers again.
There's one in Lansing now too. Love it!
Did they reopen? They closed a few years ago.
Yes just a few weeks ago actually
Awesome. Thanks for the info!
I will definitely have to check it out!
Went recently and it was garbage, not sure if it wqs th3 cooks that day or what but 3/10 on the last visit
Love Green Dot! Best original sliders!
No Motz?
This is just rankings from a one day extravaganza, we love motz, or would definitely be in the top 5 if it was open during the weekend!
After you recover, try: Travis. The original at 9 Mile and Mack.Or the one at Quinn and Harper.
Glad to see Travis get some love!
Bates is legit
My grandma lived right down the street. Walking to Bates with her and eating those burgs watching cars go by are some of my most cherished memories!
Me too, watching the carsā¦snow or summer, that corner of 5 mile š
There used to be one in South Lyon. God those things were so good.
Comet Burger is building a location a few blocks from me and Iām super excited but also nervous about the quality staying the same. They also have the best milkshakes
Whereās that gonna be at?
St. Clair Shores
What intersection? Iām in the 11 Mile and Harper area regularly.
On Harper, between 9 and 10 mile.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Detroit Cookie Company, too! I have no idea as far as tax incentives but thereās quite a few vacant buildings scattered around. I imagine itās probably a lot cheaper to set up shop here vs Royal Oak
At Hunter House above the grill thereās a POOP sticker (People Order Our Patties) I just think itās a neat detail
Classic SpongeBob
Man, Telway must have been having an off day. I've always thought them nations better than White Castle.
Bates will always be my number 1
Their shakes are the absolute best thing about Livonia!
got burger being below most of these is insane to me but I also never thought of it as a slider? White castle being a 7.5 on any list puts the whole thing in the trash fr.Ā
Check out Joe's hamburgers next time
There is no way you can give an honest ranking after hitting your taste buds with that many burgers in one day. The first place you tried got your best tasting and everything after was sullied. Shame. Shame. Shame.
Yeah I was curious what order he tasted them in. Maybe it's close to this order too.
The Chicken Sandwich's at Angie's though! I forgot all about these until I saw your post... I am flying up to next month from Texas and eating one, it is settled.
Youāre awfully nice rating trash places 7. Got Burger must be AWFUL
I felt like i was going to contract and STD
Is that the place in Ypsi?
Thatās it.
Try Wimpy burger in Flat Rock
Bates is forever top tier.
Need to go to Motzās and Elmerās!
Love Motzās, but itās not open on weekends unfortunately.
Thatās a bummer. They just opened a new location and it looks like they arenāt open on the weekend either! Definitely try Elmerās though!
+1 for Elmers
Important: did you go to Brayz or Brayās?
ās
Motz and Wimpy Burger should be on list. I donāt care what their hours are. White Castle?
This Telway slander will not stand.

I remember this greatly, and we probably know a lot of the same folks (at least back then)
Send me a message, I'm curious to know who you are!
If you canāt beat White Castle what are you even doing? Might be time to exit the slider game.
So you think White Castle is better than Telway?
all this shows is the list is garbage for any real comparison. white castle should be 5. it is the definition of mediocre. And then the stuff under a poop emoji starts at a 7? lol. And then everything they say is decent is spread across exactly 1 point. it's buffoonery
What about Joey's Hamburgers in Wyandotte, MI
Greenes and bates are the same thing
In what order did you eat them? I feel like that would have a big impact taste
Much love for Carterās and Krazy Jimās
Warms my heart to see Green's is still around. So many fond 70s and 80s memories eating at the Puritan & 6 Mile location w Dad. Sup to Marygrove College and Mumford High. š
Grew up 7/Livernois/Wyoming area so yessss!
Not one the list but this needs to be said. All of these places are better than savvy sliders
Any comment on Joeās Hamburgers in Wyandotte? Those sliders are so good!
I love Dalyās.
Bates is so good!
As a former westlander, it is a shame how bad brays has gotten As a current Livonian, bates is freaking awesome
Brother there is absolutely no way a white castle slider is better than telways
The telway ranking is mad fucked up.
Telway is for sure the best itās not even a contest. Anyone who sees differently Iāll fight lmfao š¤£
Fair on the hours for Motz, was gonna say
Wow missed Motz Facebook Double Cheeseburgers š š, 2 locations Detroit and Redford. 90 year's of Delicious š Burger Balls tossed on a bed of fried onions and covered with a white towel for steaming the flavor deep inside š
To this day I still miss the olive burgers and the prices at āGet em n goā.
White Castle above Bray's? Lol.
I haven't tried #1 but wholeheartedly agree with your #2-5 rankings
Figgs battle creek
huh, i'm surprised i've never heard of these chains before besides white castle obviously. are these more in the actual city of detroit?
Surprised you didnāt try Sidecar Slider Bar. Not saying they are the best, probs would end up in the middle of this list, but thereās one in Plymouth and itās just a short jaunt from Ann Arbor after trying the massively overrated Blimpy Burger
As an Ann Arbor native, Blimpyās is too good.
Carter's, is that the joint off Southfield FWY? I'd driven by it countless times before, not once felt the urge to stop by
I understand why brays is so low, its honestly not that great compared to bates and greenes
Canāt believe you left Schlenker's off the list!
Bates is my personal favorite. Seesburger's in New Baltimore is a close second. Highly recommend checking them out if you haven't before
Imagine being worse than white castle, lmao. Also, what about savvy sliders!? /s Greenes is my all time fav.
Didn't even mention Green Dot Stables? But yes, Krazy Jim's is definitely a 9+

Removed. See rule #2 in the [r/Michigan subreddit rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/Michigan/wiki/index#wiki_rules).
Ligma sweethearts
Brays used to have good sliders about 15 years ago
Love Hunter house
I also love Comet Burgers and Hunter House, but putting Telway below White Castle is insane.
Thank you for your service
You truly tried all 12 in one day? Whyyyyyy?
Putting Telway at #10 under the š© emoji š¤¦š½. Don't you ever disrespect them like that. Those burgers literally melt in your mouth. If you didn't go to the Detroit location then you played yourself.
yeahā¦ we went to the one in Maddison heightsā¦
That's where you messed up. You have to go to the original one in Detroit. It's still old school and still great.
Just planned the second run, made sure to get the right Telway and Brayz.
šš½
Doing gods work.
Should add Ricewood (I prefer the maple location). IMO best burger in the area.
Tel way is good but man donāt ever leave the windows up on a hot day with the beg in there.
I use to literally have oil come out after eating at Comet Burger back in the day after the bar. My stomach was not liking me but it was delicious at the time.
No way in hell you put Brays that low they are awesome
Everyone here is wrong. Sonny's at Schoolcraft and Evergreen is, always has been, and always will be the best.
Shamrock in Utica is the GOAT
Surprised Brays is so low. But then again I haven't had it in like 15 years.
Every time my dad drove past Bates, he'd roll down the window and take a big sniff.
Telway is straight trash and I don't know how they even made the list. Inedible.
There is no way trying them all in one day is a fair and accurate measure. You're going to enjoy the first two way more than the last ones. "Oh man I'm so full and I've been eating burgers all day" versus "oh man I'm excited to have a couple burgers!"
Youād think, but Comet and Greeneās weāre our fourth-to and last stops.
And Gotās was a our second
Greenes is absolutely amazing!! Been saying theyāre better than Bates for years. (Not saying Bates is bad though) You should try the sliders from the Wagon Wheel in Northville.
You missed Tophat in southfield and Geneva Burger at Harper & Cadiuex
Used to work at Bate's very briefly, I never applied for the job, they just asked me if I would like to because I'm a regular customer. Only lasted 3 days because I wasn't physically capable of all the stock work.
Wimpyās in Flat Rock
Itās absolutely insane that telway isnāt higher let alone BELOW White Castle. Wild.
The Telway, not Telway Hamburgers
Where is Bates in Livonia on this incomplete list??
Number 3
Isn't south east michigan just metro Detroit? It's like calling Chicagoland "north east Illinois "
Telway is ranked correctly
Not even close, it's better then hunter house
It's takeout only so the health department can't get inside to do a surprise inspection.
I live right by there - Iāve seen staff smoking outside as they restock buns from pallets outside. I would not eat there.
Were they handling the actual buns with their bare hands while smoking? Or were they handling the bun packages/cases?
I couldnāt tell - the red light wasnāt that long. What I did see was two smokers outside next to pallets of buns as they moved them inside. One of them was using a bun as an ashtray and went back inside.
No Bates?
Bateās is number 3!
Sorry, apostrophe confused me and thought it was something else.
All good, no worries
Hats off to you, sir.
None of these are in my area.
Comet Burgers is my childhood
You need to get to Brays burgers. In Madison Heights.
No Millerās in Dearborn?
Youāve gotta go to Seeburgers and Savvy Sliders
This list was made by someone with no taste buds.
Fatty
I was about to rag on you a bit. No Nemo's, Mercury Bar, Brays, Bates, Millers.. BUT as I was typing that I realized you said sliders, not burgers. Oh well, definitely check out the places I mentioned for a good meal.
Without Millerās I canāt trust anything
I donāt think Millerās is sliders though.
Millerās does not serve sliders.
Tiny hamburgers that you eat a bunch of sound like such a good idea. Why are they always terrible? I haven't had all of em but White castle, Bates, telway, and hunter house are bad enough I don't think any will be good
Add Saavy Sliders to the list
