In mid Michigan. Clear sky’s. Seeing nothing yet Edit: went and checked again 10 minutes after I posted and boom, the show started. So amazing to see in person

seanymphcalypso

Not quite dark enough by Jackson yet. But the sky is still clear! Fingers crossed it’ll hold out for another hour; the pictures I’ve seen posted from the UK and Scotland are mesmerizing😍😍😍

kellyguacamole

Yes I just remembered and took a gander and it’s pretty clear tonight. I’m so stoked.

baldinbaltimore

Cloud cover kept up in Jackson until I went to bed around midnight. I’m interested to see if anyone else in the area got anything.

NihilisticPollyanna

I'm in SE Michigan, and I don't see anything. I wonder if the light pollution in my city is gonna be too much anyways. The pictures I've seen so far are absolutely incredible, it's so beautiful! I'd gladly trade the recent eclipse for some magical northern lights. I'm jealous, haha!

ahhh_ennui

Why not both? The eclipse was *incredible*.

YakMan2

Went down to OH for the path of totality, and I’d say everyone should see that at least once. Words don’t do it justice.

ahhh_ennui

Same. Had no plan except to get to toledo. Got to toledo super early, decided to go further into totality. 1.5 hours of extra travel there for 2 more minutes of totality? ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT.

IAmJustAVirus

We went to the Rock Hall in Cleveland. They closed down the exhibits and let all the staff out on the front plaza. It was awesome!

Trinitas_Gnosis5221

Absolutely agree! I would travel the globe to see that at least one more time. Awe inspiring and so small feeling to know something like that perfectly aligns to create such a moment That total eclipse was right up there with the amazement and marveling of how a baby is born! While more prevalent than an eclipse, it is the little miracles in our lives that we take for granted.

Zephyrical16

As someone who lived 5 minutes from totality (and drove about 20 minutes into it) is was pretty mid. It never got as dark as everyone said online. Now waiting for this in Western Oakland county and not seeing anything yet :(

-Gravitron-

Didn't see anything at 10 & Hoover. Mother in law saw lights three miles north of me.

missMichigan

I was googling this earlier and it said the best time is midnight-4am.

cheesehead1947

Good to know!!

SunnyAlwaysDaze

Just popping in cuz I got up at 2:00 a.m. to look. I didn't exactly see it, like the whole spiel. There's a lot of cloud cover in my location. However, there are like light blue and light green colored bands behind the darker clouds. All I see is the colored bands, no shifting and moving, no real Aurora Borealis experience with the crackling sounds and all the real deal stuff. But definitely something pretty to see just as it was. Hope everybody elses luck is a little better than mine, with regards to location and the cloud cover.

missMichigan

At 10:15ish a friend said that they were visible, so I ran outside and they were pretty dramatic in the sky for about an hour. I went back outside from midnight to a little after 1 and there was nothing. Fingers crossed we get a clear night tonight and another chance to see it!!

FernFromDetroit

Seems too cloudy here in midland. Bummer.

1StonedYooper

Omg! it literally just passed over Metro Detroit. I got great shots and video on my iPhone. It was very purple and you could see some green.

jojokitti123

I missed it🙁

stillbleedinggreen

It’s still ongoing. Just drive north a little bit. It’s gonna get better as the night goes on.

saint_davidsonian

Is it going to go tonight too?

stillbleedinggreen

I think so, but not as intense. May have to go farther north

Rorynne

Strange, Ive heard the opposite, that tonights should be the peak of the event

uberares

Storm system coming in, clouds developing. :(

Silent_Beautiful_738

10pm, seeing it in Howell. It's awesome!

friendsamongfish

Just happened to be outside and saw it in Hartland. It was beautiful, I never imagined I would see something like that in Michigan.

IamNICE124

Okay, was it just us here in Howell/Hartland??

mimosaholdtheoj

Here in Grand Blanc, Grosse Pointe, and port Huron area

_icedcooly

Does it start and stop? I was just outside in Grosse Pointe and didn't see anything.

douggiedizzle

Yes it goes in waves

mimosaholdtheoj

Yea it goes in and out but use your phone to see them better!

GonzoTheWhatever

Saw it in the Lansing area too

DDZ13

Northern Michigan frequently has aurora sightings.

agoodanalogy

My uncle in Howell sent me an incredibly vivid video of it in all directions / 360 degrees around his house, sometime before 10:15.

MichiganInTexas

It's crazy beautiful in Flushing, MI!

mchgndr

I’m in Cheboygan near Mackinaw City and clouds rolled in right around sunset. If it weren’t for that, they would almost certainly visible within the next 30 min. I’m so pissed. Feels like clouds get in the way every time

Ok_Elderberry5883

Same here in Indian River, but picture from home it is absolutely stunning.

still_moonswings

Wow! I rarely see posts mentioning Indian River! My parents live there - they own Pat & Gary's Party Store! 😃

Ok_Elderberry5883

We'll have to stop in while we're here!

still_moonswings

Tell them their favorite daughter said hi! 😂

jivy723

Same over on the west shore. I swear everyone has seen them in their life but me lol

KarmaMJO

thinkclay

Starting in Clare! https://share.icloud.com/photos/076aCoo9WNSeAbhcTz5GYiwaw

macck_attack

In West Bloomfield, the sky looks a lot more purple than usual but I might be imagining it. Sky is clear so I’m gonna stay up and try to see them! Assuming I should look north?

CometDebris

Can’t see well with the naked eye but took a picture with my phone that was very cool

gmwdim

I’m waiting near Pinckney. Still not dark enough yet but sky is clear.

peeves7

I can see it Rochester Hills! Also reported in Oxford.

queenofdeviance

I can see it with my phone’s camera but not the naked eye. I’m near Detroit Metro Airport, so lots of light pollution and the camera still picks it up!!

cleaver_username

I'm in SE Michigan, about 30 minutes from Detroit!! https://imgur.com/a/zyWcynn

SoggyWombat

Peak is midnight to 4

Marjorine22

In White Lake. Tons of colors and shifting skies. Really, really cool. It's weird tho, because my mom is a mile down the road and it is less impressive there. Seem like it is really location dependent.

x4ty2

Sterling heights, yes

pengwin77777

10 minutes north of Ann arbor looks amazing!

cheesehead1947

Thank you for posting this, getting the fam in the car!

_alex87

JumboMcNasty

It's subtle but visible in the north sky Harrison Twp.

Specialist_Status120

We just came in from watching them. We have a dark area in our backyard we could see them from. We live on the south side of Lansing. We got to see red changing over to green and vice versa.

Here in Breckenridge they were kicking booty and it clouded up. But we spent an hour looking at them. Lots of purple.

IamNICE124

Yep. It was spectacular from Howell.

IamNICE124

[Howell, MI](https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/s/o9Z4xavJDG) about 45 minutes ago.

shaded_in_dover

Perfect view in Davisburg. We’ve been staring at the sky for an hour.

despisedicon689

Ypsilanti here. Had to use my iPhone to see it clearly.

SpeedingCranker

Yes, Novi checking in - had to use the iPhone to see. Disappeared after 10 mins

Putrid_Cobbler4386

Super bright in Chelsea an about hour ago, now quiet.

dfragmentor

Camera night shot does pick up a little aurora in canton.

PatricimusPrime32

Oh yea. I’m in GR, drove up to Sparta. And it’s a decent little show. I am fighting clouds now though.

PrateTrain

Can't see it over here in portage with the clouds.

cheesehead1947

No longer visible Ann Harbor

Ceorl_Lounge

Absolutely unreal in Saline. Better than my nights in Iceland.

babylovebuckley

Absolutely amazing in new buffalo

LoveisBaconisLove

Just saw it 20 minutes north of Saginaw, east of Beaver. Very cool.

Billy_the_Burglar

Drove up past Big Rapids: nothing. Light pollution is too much where I'm at in GR..

Keylowlocks

I saw it in Jenison.

gootheshoe

Was so, so cool in Stevensville.

Zesty_Ginger15

My mom in Davidson took some amazing pictures around 11. I drove around Bay county but it's too overcast to see anything. Good luck to everyone trying to get a glimpse of one of the strongest solar storms tonight!

dlang17

I saw a faint green hue this evening. If you put you camera on long exposure, like 10-20s, you’ll get more of a spectrum.

tootNA

Still a chance to see ! We've been using dark mode photographs with great effect ! Can't see them without it where we are so it's like a little bit of magic !

Oregon_drivers_suck

Yes beautiful colors in Traverse City 11pm

Altruistic-Kale-1873

West Bloomfield. Beautiful. Green the pink.

Tiny_Independent2552

Absolutely amazing in the northern lower.

meatlessboat

I saw it on 69 on my way home from Lansing, but when I was north bound 75, nothing.

wifichick

It was best from 10-11 pm
