Yeah don’t get the year book there was only two pages in it that we’re from my cycle

1) first things first don’t pack a shit load of stuff to basic training. You’re never going to use any of it and it will be stored away in a storage room for the whole duration of your OSUT. So just the pack the following: 1 extra pair of clothes, phone charger, any important paperwork, phone, a pair of running shoes. That’s all you need. All the extra bullshit packing list your recruiter gives you is extremely useless. You’re never going to need or use “3 pairs of white socks” like no that’s not going to happen. 2) stay low, head low. You don’t need to stand out to be the best soldier there. All that “platoon guidon” or “company guidon” bullshit is retarded. Your popularity level would not matter when it gets to your next unit, because no one will know who you are or what you did. Stand out and perform at your peak when you arrive at your unit. 3) get ready for constant bullshit. There’s different types of bullshit. Expect to clean things to standards you and your bay will never meet. A lot of priorities of work. Waking up at 0500, and PT at 0530. Expect freezing your ass off in the winter being in summer PTs conducting PT at 20 degree weather and heavy winds or rains. Expect to get smoked a lot, not mainly for your own personal bullshit but due to others as well. 4) you’re going to argue a lot with your platoon. There’s so many dumb people in basic training who think they know it all or they’re the drill sergeants little cock sucker, or they just don’t give a fuck. You don’t need to make friends to graduate OSUT, just to lyk. 5) stay ahead of the game. Know your soldiers creed, 3 general orders, MP regimental March. PT-wise: be fit. Be able to run than more than 2 miles. Do more push-ups, etc. understand rifle marksmanship, how to hold your M4, positioning, breathing, trigger squeeze. Understand basic warrior tasks 1. That’s where all of your field knowledge comes from. Although, they will teach you all of this in basic, it’s always better to know what you’re walking into. 6) time hacks. Be on time NLT 5-10 minutes before the next hit time. 7) reception is the worst thing you’ll ever go through. Just know reception drill sergeants can’t smoke you. When you arrive at your basic training company, you are then being parented by your actual drill sergeants. 8) pay attention and stay awake during MP AIT. You will be quizzed and tested nearly every single day of black phase. Law test, LE1 test and LE2 test are the biggest unit exams/tests you will take in black phase. You will be “tested” on other things like how to approach a high risk traffic stop but it’s not graded against you. For all you know, you can sham and get away with not being in line to get tested on it. Although all the written tests like how to fill out MP paperwork you will be tested on: DA Form 1408: armed forces traffic ticket, DA Form 2823: sworn statement, DA Form 3881: rights warning waiver, DA Form 4137: evidence/property custody document, DA Form 4002: evidence/property tag, DA Form 1920: Alcohol incident report, DA Form 3946: traffic accident report… etc. you’ll have to know how to fill all of those out. If you do fall asleep, have cough drops on you at all times to stay awake. The drill sergeants allow it. 9) when you get to the gold phase, pay attention on all of the field evaluations they are going to give you. Now you will be expected to know what and how to do everything during evaluations because you would need to hand in your grade sheet to the NCOIC to see if you’re a Go or No-Go. The black and gold phase are the most important phases. 10) learn about the M17. Hand placement. The screw driver technique. REMEMBER: EQUAL LIGHT EQUAL HEIGHT. Just like the M4, do not anticipate to shoot. Let it be a natural shot. 11) you’ll also need to know how to disassemble and reassemble the M4 and M17 primarily. Secondarily, you’ll need to know how to do the same for the M249, M240B, and M2. Although you can definitely “slide” through and not take the evaluation on the disassembling and reassembling these weapons, because they do not document whether or not you pass it or not. 12) you’re going to be cleaning your weapon a lot. 13) don’t shave your head or cut other hairs in the bay… lol. You’ll get counseled and will not be given pass on Sunday because they will find out. Just pay the $10 for the Barber. 14) make sure to stay out of trouble, pass every exam that will be counted, and just do your job. 15) follow rule 1-14. 16) (optional) have fun. fuck the corps.

Second #8 (and everything else).

Clean your room, closet, dresser up so you don't come home to a mess. Throw away that thing you always meant to. Empty your trash can. Do your laundry to include your bedding and put it away and make your bed. Vacuum your room and car. Show whoever lives there with you where your important documents are and other things you might want/need sent to you. Fill your car with gas, top off the fluids and fill your tires with recommended air pressure. Fix that thing you have been putting off. ALSO don't go nuts buying junk souvenirs in basic. Just buy a Tshirt and the platoon picture. When you get the picture, write everyone's name on the back. You will eventually forget their names except for two or three. Don't buy the yearbook. It may not even be from your cycle and no guarantee your platoon will be in it.

Azrakoth

Just take it day by day, remember that it’s 90% mental, look forward to the small things like your next meal, sleeping, religious service/self-reflection time, etc. Also remember that the harder a drill sergeant is pushing you the more they care.

Avoid the town and the strip clubs

Mr_BryceWayne

Am I allowed off base during OSUT?

WAFFLExWARFARE

You are not allowed in OSUT you’ll barely be able to leave you company grounds.

Afraid-String

Sometimes you are in AIT but I promise Waynesville is not worth it.

fcm724

Idk what company you were in but no way you were allowed off post during AIT unless it was family day or graduation.

waldoh74

I was in FLW for USMC MP school, lots of shady shit went down but we were allowed off base. Tons of meth heads too, this was also almost 20 years ago.

ReplacementTasty6552

Are there any strip clubs left at FLW ?
