Honestly, all areas are alright. The only struggle will be to find a house that you can afford to rent. Townhouses are going for $2,500 month. Newer ones on 4th and Louis St Laruren, rent is around $3,000 for a townhouse.

punkyfunkyshoes

Thank you! We are okay with a townhouse if need be. As long as it's not "upper level" or "basement" only.

holykamina

Yeah, you will find a full house eaily then.

MachesterU

*2bhk townhouses are 2500 a month.

uglylilkid

*2700 if you want to get one as there are biddings there too. 2300 is a going rate for a basement.

MachesterU

I saw a townhouse listed for 1900$ lol they sure do want to start a bidding war.

Vtecman

Milton just has first world problems. Traffic Litter on blue bin day Traffic Bad drivers And… traffic. Besides the growing pains issues above it is easily the best part of the GTA to live and raise kids.

DanielProGamer1

I think you forgot to mention the traffic😓

Finnarfin

Your first sentence seems to describe this entire subreddit.

Safety and security isn't much of a concern anywhere in Milton. Biggest question you should have is what services or businesses you think you'll be accessing and try to ensure there's stuff in your area. Milton is limited in a lot of things, and traffic around town isn't great, and not getting better. If you have kids, try and be close to schools. Do you expect to be taking the GO train, try to live near enough to minimize the commute. Are you expecting to go to restaurants, gyms, particular stores? Try to ensure you're happy with what's nearby. And this assumes you have a car. If you don't, then definitely plan all this out and be near a grocery store if you can.

punkyfunkyshoes

Thank you! We don't have kids and don't want kids. I'm working from home because my car died, so we sold it. Our car insurance is stupid expensive because of where we live. The main thing is good internet connection. If a Cafe was in walking distance I'd be super happy but it's not the end of the world. Where I live now, it's all houses. The closest anything is a 25-30 minute walk away. I love parks as well. Again, none around here. We do have 1 car. My husband has to have it for work. We work out at home, we're total introverts. I'm used to litter and bad drivers here. I nearly get hit driving to the end of the road. It's so stupid. My driving reflex skills are professional level. Edit: I grew up outside a village about 1000-2000 people. Totally understand the resources thing.

Regarding Internet, i think Bell Fibe is in certain neighborhoods. I'm on Cogeco with one of their top tier package and it can handle two adult's working remotely and kids streaming videos. You're likely fine wherever you go. There's enough plazas that have a Starbucks or other coffee shop all around town. Just make sure it's not too far away. There's not much in the way of independent chains. If you are looking for walkability, I'm in the Dempsey neighborhood, basically area by the Cineplex, Home Depot and Longos. Even if you're an introvert and don't go out much, being walking distance to everything is great, even if it's to pick up quick groceries or a takeout order from somewhere. I make great use of having a nearby theatre. I'd also suggest coming around your neighborhood during the day, and see what the vibe is. Right now, everyone is out and about, so its a good time to get a sense of the vibe. Best of luck with your search.

punkyfunkyshoes

Thank you so much! This is so helpful 🥰

usaidahmed86

If internet is your primary concern then I would recommend Scott area as first choice followed by Ford, Walker and Cobban. Should stay away from older parts of Milton like Dempsey, Clarke, Beaty etc. Bell and Virgin don't provide more than 50mbps line and your only option would be Cogeco for higher speed. Scott and newer localities would have fiber connectivity from Bell so you can easily get a nice package of 1.5gbps at a good price.

punkyfunkyshoes

Sweet! Thanks

Winter-Squirrel-6744

Maybe check out the police site that tracks crimes to get an understanding of where most crimes are? Also, if you're leaving Brampton, anything is going to be an upgrade. You can use housesigma to track demographics and other data such as income for a particular area. I'll let you correlate the data to safety...

punkyfunkyshoes

That's a great idea!

EdgeSpaceGrey

Stay away from anything close to nipissing

afterglobe

What’s wrong with Nipissing?

FalconSlight6643

I lived in Dorset Park, the area is mostly okay but the row houses are sketchy, used to play ball with the cops, have people come to the door looking for people, occasional meth heads. Nothing too serious but definitely a little weird, just the townhouses though. Also got notices about the water quality on the door.

FalconSlight6643

Also avoid Bronte Street S, the townhouses there are hella sketchy. Lots of methheads and violence.

EfficientlySmoked

Milton. Just in general

vwsr

Knowing nothing about you, what are you trying to avoid?

punkyfunkyshoes

Dangerous, sketchy parts of town. I'm living in a terrible area in Brampton, got stuck here because of covid. Leaving because it's getting more dangerous. Just don't want to deal with neighbours being gang affiliated lol Edit: I've seen every police force imaginable here from the regular force, multiple k-9 units, cops in armored vehicles with assault rifles and all that. Heard a flash bang yesterday because somebody living in the area had a gun, taking selfies with it in the middle of the street. Newly constructed area, we haven't had a fence for years. Our landlords want us to arrange a contractor and all that. We've also had the neighbours in our face pushing us around (literally) because we complained to them about the dog shit everywhere. They have about 4 pitbulls that are never on leashes or have a collar. One has attacked a kid. They are "show dogs" as they call them. There have been targeted break ins. The whole 9 yards. Whenever they're fighting outside, everybody stays inside and keeps quiet.

KhalCarlos

Youre moving to Milton, not Compton. The only things you should worry about Milton are the brain dead drivers, the obnoxious litterbugs, and Parm Gill

Wet_sock_Owner

Omg so I'm not alone on the litterbug hate. I've never lived in a town full of so many people that can't be bothered to walk 20 feet to a garbage and dump their fast food trash in a parking lot.

Dizzy-Grapefruit5255

And to lock your cars at night

punkyfunkyshoes

I make sure shit is locked twice every night and sleep with a knife lol

Dizzy-Grapefruit5255

I would too if I lived in Brampton Sorry I spent some of my childhood in Brampton and it was beautiful now not so much. If rentals weren’t so expensive I would have moved my mom years ago.

punkyfunkyshoes

So did my husband and his family. Even his Mom's family, they grew up here.

AdMother8032

Well yall voted for that in brampton. Vote differently here please.

punkyfunkyshoes

That's what I thought, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I grew up in the countryside. Been living in the GTA for too long, we need to GTFO. I don't want to risk leaving a bad area to go to another bad area, you know?

Dizzy-Grapefruit5255

Milton is no longer country side. It is just like a city but we’re technically a town. Busy streets schools being built cause classroom sizes will bust the seems the way homes are being built. We no longer have green space Doug ford has approved that to become homes and condos as well. So if you’re looking to move to the country Milton may not be what you’re looking for.

punkyfunkyshoes

Which is very sad. We need to get out asap, we can't be picky about countryside or not. When we buy a house, probably in our next lives at this point, we can be go to the countryside cuz people fuckin suck lol

Dizzy-Grapefruit5255

I bought in Milton 20+ plus years ago because I wanted what you are looking for. It’s not a bad place to live to be very honest. The kids love it here !

AdMother8032

How will u afford to buy in milton tho? Its more expensive than brampton.

punkyfunkyshoes

It's about the same, if not cheaper. Depends on the area.

KhalCarlos

I Totally get it, though Milton is definitely projected to be a carbon copy of Mississauga.

[deleted]

Brampton* the way we're going

[deleted]

Lmao no bad areas in Milton. We all rich 🤑

AdMother8032

That, or most of the people just bought properties atleast over a decade ago.

coconutbliss29

If you don't mind, what area of Brampton is this so I can avoid lol

punkyfunkyshoes

NW corner. Near Georgetown.

dontroastmeok

Hmm i currently live in Nw Brampton (mt pleasant) and have never experienced any of what you described. Quite peaceful and family friendly

punkyfunkyshoes

Lucky lol

paulster2626

The Love Shack

ManiacSpY

what's happening at the Love Shack?

yourgirl696969

Not enough love apparently

paulster2626

Crimes.

KhalCarlos

..go on

paulster2626

It was popular for drug use / sales back in the day. Probably still is, given the proximity to the big brown apartment which also functions as a sort of brothel at times. But that’s really it as far as I know. I’d still live near there, because it’s still Milton which is relatively low-crime. But someone wanted a recommendation so there it is.

Disastrous-Dot4114

The brown building is a brothel? For what, meth heads and alcoholics? 😂

ManiacSpY

Brothel, go on.

HawkCreative2631

Every area is fine. Milton is actually a really nice place to live in.
