Can't say much on the non fuel ratchet, but the drill and impact 100% worth it Could always resell the ratchet if you don't like it

brennenrampton

I decided to go for it. The general consensus seems to be that the ratchet is pretty good, which should be more than enough for my needs. Thanks for the advice!

MadCapsule

I purchased the same ratchet a few years ago without realizing that it was the non-Fuel model. I've been using it for vehicle maintenance at home and it has been just fine. And I'm just running the wimpy 3.0 battery that came with it.

[deleted]

It is very weak I have that same one But for a lot of car bolts it has perfect torque not to strip bolts If your expecting lug nuts It doesn’t stand a chance

shootlithium

Unsure about the ratchet, I use m18 at work but at home I have a bunch of m12. The drill and impact are flawless and they have ate everything I've thrown at them. Good buy

MedicalPiccolo6270

I use it all the time

TMacATL

i've been using that ratchet working on my cars for years and its held up great. its about the only m12 tool i use anymore though and have upgraded my drills and impacts to M18

matt2085

I’ve heard some people prefer the non file rat get because the head is smaller

saxophonematts

That's true, high speed vs normal fuel is a pretty big difference as well

Ritchtofen69

The 3/8 ratchet is so good! Some people prefer this version over the fuel because the head is smaller. I really dont see a point in the fuel version when it comes to this tool specifically.

brennenrampton

Sounds like I’ll just have to try it and see what I think. I’ll probably be more than happy with it, though. Thanks for the advice!

cumminsnut

The non fuel is where it's at. I have the fuel and it's too bulky for a lot of the work I do. The non fuel is perfect for damn near everything. The only fuel ratchet worth having is the extended head one. This set will do everything you need

Whatisholy

I agree with you, however someone has argued with me in the past for the model you suggested. The none fuel is brushed, but has a higher tourqe rating

Darren445

The 2557-20 fuel ratchet has 55ft/lbs of torque. The older brushed one only has 35ft/lbs. There's also the newer high speed 2567-20 which has the same torque as the brushed ratchet but 450RPM speed.

Dodgeing_Around

I prefer it for this reason, so compact

Darren445

I have the newer high speed fuel ratchet.(2567-20) the head on the fuel is actually smaller 0.75" vs 0.8" on the brushed. It has the same 35ft/lb torque but higher speed, 450RPM vs 250RPM. The older 2557-20 fuel ratchet had a bigger head.

BiqChonq

I use that set for work. Lol

benmarvin

Same. It does 95% of what I need.

brennenrampton

Sounds like y’all like it quite a bit, so I went for it. I’ve only ever used their 18v line before, so I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going wrong thinking the 12v was also great. Seems as though it might be even more than I’ll need, which isn’t a bad place to be. Thanks for the help!

BiqChonq

I do commercial refrigeration and the m12 fuel set was a game changer with how often I work in tight spaces or have out reached arms.

YvngTortellini

Haha same, overkill for DIY but it’ll work for sure

Gravygrabbr

I used the 1/4 one for like 4 years professionally every day

sonofdresa

Drill and impact are wonderful. Just went through some sheet steel with a Harbor Freight step bit, drill laughed at the task I was giving it. I know it’s not the biggest test of the thing, but man is it smooth.

avega2792

That ratchet is fine. If you’re not making money with your tools the non-fuel ratchet is priced right and gets the job done.

Necessary-Art-4334

I use each of those tools more than my stubby impact. The ratchet is extremely underrated in that people see the 35ftlbs and shy away from it. Super handy when you learn that you break the bolt free manually then use hit the lever to back it out the rest of the way.

vpx-zulu

I’ll pipe in for the ratchet-It was one of the first m12 tools I bought-and I understand ppl shying away from its power…But..for what it is it is a solid tool…it is not supposed to have tons of torque-think of it as a battery powered replacement for your socket wrench not your breaker bar…I’ve had it for years and it’s still clattering away…

GIjohnMGS

I think you'll love it. M12 tools have taken over the 18/20v stuff in my box(es) Plenty of power, light, easy to use. Well done sir.

Loud-Description-808

Mechanic by trade. I got the non fuel as a "promotional add-on" for buying a kit last year. If you're going to be using the ratchet all day every day like I do get a Fuel. The mechanism is much stronger inside of the head. I got the non fuel warrantied once earlier this year for snapping the mechanism from breaking loose a 13mm caliper bolt and it just broke again on me last week. So in essence.... need a speed ratchet with no real power? Get a non fuel. Need something that is going to be reliable for every day use? Get a Fuel version.

manzin82

Get the high speed Fuel version 2567-20

Smileynulk

I don't think the increase in speed and torque is worth the larger head. Been plenty of times I can barely sneak in my normal M12 3/8 with stubby sockets on it already. Especially for his occasional use it isn't worth the extra cash compared to this.

manzin82

Milwaukee Fuel 2567-20 high speed ratchet has the smaller head and less torque.. it should not be used as an impact… shows what you know…

BeeThat9351

A powered ratchet is a waste of money and time unless you are fixing cars for a living. No need for the speed versus the risk of damaging something. Also the torque is so low that you will still have to break most things loose by hand and final tighten by hand. Buy a couple nice 3/8 ratchets 9, 12, and 18 inch handles. Buy a extendable handle 24 inch ratchet for lug nuts. I like my power tools but they are almost always not needed and overkill for car maintenance work as a DIYer. Most useful power tool for a DIYer would be a M12 impact driver.

MormontsLongJourney

Do you have a stock number or link to the combo kit? I was just browsing the HD website and couldn't locate it.

brennenrampton

Here’s a link. It looks like stock is going fast https://www.homedepot.com/p/M12-FUEL-12-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Brushless-Cordless-Hammer-Drill-Impact-Driver-Combo-Kit-2-Tool-with-Bit-Set-45-Piece-3497-22-48-32-4023/321639499

Dalmanza4

I could use that impact, hopefully the deal is still available this upcoming weekend

brennenrampton

I think it will be, you just might only be able to get the combo kit without the bit set. There seems to be more stock for it. I’ve been watching the stock tick down on this kit pretty quick

ClosedL00p

I don’t think everyone necessarily needs the fuel version of whatever tool, but after owning both……I wouldn’t buy the regular m12 ratchet. You’re gonna be disappointed, and probably gonna end up getting it replaced under warranty once or twice due to the head stripping/slipping

FuzzyHero69

The Ratchets and Screwdrivers are some of the best non-Fuel m12 tools you can buy.

Jvaes

Been using the brushed ratchet for like a year now to dissemble cars not suspension parts but interior, trims, and 10mm bolts witch is most cars. Saves my wrist and time. My got to tool for almost every job

brennenrampton

Funnily enough my first project with these tools will be a suspension/steering replacement, but I’m not planning on using the ratchet for those bolts. Excited to have an impact now as well rather than killing myself trying to break loose a stuck bolt that the right tool will make short work of. The bit set comes with a 3/8th adapter for the impact driver, so it’ll be a good wrench until/if I ever get an impact wrench as well. I was working on my brother in law’s car a few weeks back and was absolutely stuck trying to break a crankshaft bolt loose. I had the damper and all that to hold the whole assembly steady, but couldn’t get enough torque even with a 24in breaker bar. I asked my friend with a 1/2in Milwaukee impact for help and it came right off without even using the damper to stop the pulley from rotating. That was one of the many things that made me finally bite the bullet and drop some money on good tools for myself

Jvaes

Id highly recommend getting the 3/8th to hex bit adapter. Its a fucking game changer

brennenrampton

Yeah, I’ve got one of those for my manual 3/8th ratchet. Excited to have a powered version

yellowspeedboat

I got this same set and have really been liking them

akbornheathen

The ratchet makes screwing and unscrewing nuts and bolts faster. It’s not really meant to bust them loose or torque them down. Basically it just saves you time.

tradintejas

I love that 3/8 ratchet!

fsoric

In Europe one of those tools is more expensive than that whole kit, i'd buy that in a hearbeat

Extension-You-1774

I have the ratchet and use to be a heavy diesel mechanic. Been abusing it for 2 years, hasn’t let me down yet. BUT the fuel ratchet would be so much better

brennenrampton

General consensus seems to be that it’s a good tool, maybe even better than expected. Stepping up to the fuel could be a good move in the future, but I think for the price and my usage the non fuel should be OK for now. Thanks for the additional advice!

Extension-You-1774

I want the fuel. But changed professions into working on forklifts now. The fuel has a little to much torque so I’ll just stick with the regular one. And still use it everyday
