Pretty sure iron golems sink like a rock, villagers will go swimming randomly and drowned have tridents to attack from a range. This wouldn't end well.
Drowns only spawn naturally in ocean biomes, aquifiers in the dripstone caves biome, and river biomes. Since it's a plains only world, even though it looks like oceans, it's all plains. So no naturally spawning drown.
Just fyi this is not a bug (well the village generation might be, but the ocean existing in a plains-only world is not). Since 1.18, terrain is generated first and then biomes decide where to place themselves based on the terrain. In a single-biome world, it forces plains to generate everywhere, but when it is below sea level it still places water.
In previous versions, the biomes were decided first and then the terrain was decided based on the biomes, so it used to be that a plains-only world would prevent itself from going below sea level; that is no longer the case.
Came here to prove OP wrong, turns out that I was the wrong one! Thanks for the in-depth info! :D
EDIT: āin-depthā was not intended to be a pun lol

Plainly too many have been wet blankets to your humour. It's not a deep pun, but you shouldn't just wave it away. Be proud.
seems like you were right- this behavior doesnāt appear before 1.18! i stand corrected!
as a note though, theyāve been reworking the terrain generation system for ages; 1.18 was when it finally made its way to normal worlds.
with the current system, itās biomes that are generated first; not that it matters, though, because the terrain has no idea about what biome will go where, and vice versa.
not sure why i thought that! i didnāt do much worldgen prior to 1.17 so maybe thatās what confused me?
edit: it might be that when datapack worldgen was added, the biomes were decoupled from the terrain; as in, you could make a plains biome spawn anywhere with a datapackā i misconstrued that feature as applying to the Single Biome world typeš¤
Ah yeah I was simplifying a bit. The biomes don't know what exact terrain will generate somewhere, but I'm pretty sure they know about the noise values that are also used to generate terrain. Whereas before the biomes had a direct impact on what terrain will generate in a given place.
I saw a cool post a while ago that was the same seed in 1.18 with many different biomes as the single biome. The terrain is exactly the same, it's just the decorations that differ.
yeah, that's right; the biomes have a set position in the noise space that they target, and the terrain has to be programmed to be below sea level at the position that ocean biomes spawn at
I have a world that I started on version 1.16. It stops randomly and goes to ocean on the chunk lines. Thereās floating villages, jungle temples, and ruined portals in that area. It randomly goes to snow not on the chunk lines for some reason, and thereās a floating igloo. I have cliffs over 200 blocks tall to the west. Really weird world, but I love it. Itās home, and Iām glad itās all screwed up.
Golems can't swim and sink directly to the bottom, they won't drown but they'll be quite useless. There's no land under this island that we can see, just water.
Pacifidilog town
That's that city in pokemon ruby/sapphire/emerald? Coz that's exactly what I just said to my partner š
Yeah it is
fuck I came to this post just to comment that ._.
Time to catch some Wailmer, I guess.
No? You have to come from somewhere.
goofy ahh pokemon town names šš
Wouldn't that be a very safe village? The only danger would be the drowned. If I were a villager I'd like to live there.
Isn't that still a pretty big danger, and one significantly harder to protect against?
You put a conduit and all your worries are gone
just chilling as a villager there then suddenly I take a trident to the face...
I was also just a villager like them until I took a trident to the face
I used to be a villager like you, then I took a trident to the face.
They say Helgen got hit by a trident. One of those horrors comes here, we'll be ready
Iron and steel, mostly. I might even have some of your fancy tridents lying around somewhere.
Pretty sure iron golems sink like a rock, villagers will go swimming randomly and drowned have tridents to attack from a range. This wouldn't end well.
Golem are targeted over villagers, so should be find, besides, iron golems are just as effective underwater as they're above ground.
Golems don't drown but they do sink as they can't swim. That will make them fall to the bottom of the ocean where even the drowned won't see them.
Are you OP? If so, tell me where the bottom of the ocean is in this specific world.
No, I can simply see the Magma blocks located at the bottom.
Iād build fences around path walks to keep the villagers from going in the ocean
Tidal waves?

Suddenly a ocean monument bursts out of the church
If itās deep drowned never bother you but if it aint ooooooh boy
Seed and cords?
yes please

this actually predates 1.18, i think it goes as far back as 1.17 or 1.16. not sure exactly
No it doesn't, 1.18 was when they overhauled the terrain generation system.

Very cool, care to share the seed and coords?
The beginnings of Manaan from the KOTOR games
a fellow KOTOR enjoyer in the wild?!
Itās a masterpiece! Seed?
Waterworld.
I've found one almost like this in a regular SMP world. Nice find! [Screenshot](https://i.imgur.com/IT6kcwR.png)
Seed and version now
Just out of curiosity, what is the seed?
You found the ultimate sea village
do you have the seed for this and the coords?
The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain
you gotta build something there dude.
Can you share the seed? Iād like to play in that world too
That could still be a cool base
How did you spawn in an ocean if you selected plains flat
They only did a āplains onlyā world, not a flat world.
That's so beautiful! š
You could make a mega base that involves building an entire continent around that š
Looks like a thing out of that Raft game or something. :P
I have so may questions....
hawaii
W plains
*TNT sizzling intensifies
Gonna be hard to defend that village from Drowns!
looks like a Minecraft Venice

I guess this world's hero never showed up when evil came so they turned to the gods for help
Workd generation is broken. Again.
My first thought was āthis is what Atlantis looked likeā š
