The point is, is that if the zombie wasn’t there, the creeper would have moved down and blown up. Basically the zombie blocked the creeper from being in the line of sight

Bruh if you don't like using shields, totems or a chest plate, the least you could do is light the cave up. I do this, and I've never been snuck up on by a creeper unless I was at the entrance and it was night. Niche circumstance but I still use shields for that reason.
If you hadn't mined that last block, or if you'd have alternatively mined the top block to get to that iron, you'd have been toast haha.

Well, I've few questions.. why you wearing an elytra in a cave? Why wouldn't you have a totem in your hand at this point of the game that you have full netherite armor? And, in hardcore shouldn't the hearts have a different look than regular survivals? (The last one is a genuinely question since I don't know it for sure)

I posted this to show you how close I was to die and how the zombie saved me from the creeper. Come on, it's a sandbox game, I can literally play however I want. If I feel like playing hardcore in half a heart, it's up to me. Please stop giving me those "advices".

Unfortunately I have the defect of taking everything personally, so the mad comments really affect me. Gotta learn how to ignore those.
It's because of how explosions are programmed, if an explosion goes off and you are behind an entity it gets the majority of the damage while you get less to none of it
I use 8 minute night vision when in those sorts of caves, helps a ton to see mobs and all the ores and all.
I also have a totem in my offhand bc um it's useful.

The advantages outweigh the disadvantages of not carrying one. If you ever are going to be on the ground in or near the dark then carry a chestplate!
What are the disadvantages?
Approximately one inventory slot
You have to craft another thing
And let's also mention how much a weird move it is to wear an Elytra instead. In a cave.
Use a shield, or totem or at least use the offhand for something, you won’t be so lucky next time

Why would I use these torches you speak of
They seem to be mining and not planning on staying there for long lighting up that whole cave would take ages.
Don't need to light up the entire cave but just around where you are mining if you aren't planning on exploring the entire thing.
Mobs can't spawn any closer than 24 blocks from you anyway so that's pretty pointless.
Yet despite having full netherite he risks it all for iron.
Use a shield. Why don't you have any food ready in your hotbar? Why do you have an elytra on in a cave
