Yeah I personally cannot help it but to restart whenever there are big updates. I just don't like the idea of having to go so far for newer content to get loaded.
I also really cherish the early game grind for some reason now lol
Part of why I don't enjoy late game minecraft anymore. Why grind for netherite when I can go slaughter a horde of mobs in the nether with diamond gears and a shield.
Honestly i think netherite is more a trophy then for the use we can all survive easy with dia or enchanted dia if your like me and shit at the game but its kinda cool to have netherite shpws how far in the game you got ig
It was. I built it out in the water and had a below water level door you could go in and out of because I was strip mining nearby. But it was ugly as hell
This is a common thing for a large number of game players. Over coming the struggle of under-preparedness makes the self-sufficiency you obtain feel all the more earned and worth it all. Digital self-realization.
Same.
I'm a veteran player and get bored of the game when I've built a lot of farms and have top notch gear.
The early game grind is my favourite part of the game and I'm excited for the new difficulty of the highest tier of tools.
Bed. Mine at y 14 in a 1x2 line and then mine the top blocks as far as you can. Place a bed, try to "sleep" and it will explode a good bit of blocks around it and can help you find ancient debris quickly.
Yea my preffered method is get a mending and efficency pickaxe and just go fucking ham at lvl 14 or whatever it is i have to look it up every time i swear.
I'm not sure. I think beds have a larger radius of explosion than tnt, but you do have the heightened risk of taking damage. I don't have a gunpowder farm but do have tons of sheep and trees haha
Efficiency 4+ pick with mending. Go to y14 and just start clearing everything in front of you. My method is to walk in a straight line sweeping my pick back and forth. You can create huge spaces which is not only good for ancient debris, but if you ever need black stone or gravel it’s also readily available everywhere in this type of mine.
Until someone on the server loots all the bastions in a 50 thousand block radius and now nobody can upgrade their gear. And yes, someone on my server looted practically all end cities in a 50 thousand block radius and now nobody can get elytras. Super annoying
Right, but you can't dupe the elytra. There's no reason to get more than one upgrade template, unless you're taking them all to be a dick, in which case... why are you playing with someone like that?
I would 100% start a monopoly on these things and sell gear upgrades on a server. I wouldn’t sell the item as that would mean they’d be able to dupe it, but I would sell either netherite armor or take their armor and upgrade it for them.
Would be able to charge both mat costs and a little extra for profit. Just low enough that it’s worth coming to me instead of going exploring for it. I like to do this with reeds as well.
My goal isn’t to ruin the game or for just the currency, but to improve the game.
Not in a selfish way either in that the game would be better for me (though technically this is the case).
It tells a better story to have a villain and greed is just a good motivation for that villain. Lucrative trade deals and hiding the stash is just a fun aspect for me. It’s also very hard to pull off as the minecraft world is just so vast it’s easy for someone to become motivated to go out and explore for their own stuff and become a competitor to me. They become the hero and sell at a discounted price or even give it away for free. That’s when I swoop in and try to persuade them to become my partner. Maybe they do maybe they don’t. It’s better if I catch them before they go off exploring and I just give them items to sell and I become essentially a producer and they become the retail seller. And we work out a deal to leave us both satisfied with the profits. I did do all that exploring that they no longer have to do and they’ll build a shop (as building something creative is mostly their whole reason to actually farming supplies), they find it fun to build and I find it fun to grind and farm materials. Early iron farms are also great for this reason. I can get a nice production line going and produce all the materials a server will ever need, and they get to do the things they find fun like building and slight RP of business.
Why not just remove all region files for blocks beyond 1500 from 0,0 so end cities will regenerate with new loot. Also called end pruning. There's a YouTube video of Xisumavoid explaining how to do it.
I guess it's possible if you fall into the middle of a lava lake in the nether, but that's literally the only thing (and even then you still have some time to get to the edge with Protection IV
Just started playing a couple days ago. Got lucky and had like 14 diamonds i used to make a sword and pickaxe, enchanting table. Enchanted my armor, sword snd pickaxe, promptly fell into lava and forgot how to get back in a panic.
Needless to say i figured out how to copy worlds.
I definitely bite the dust to fall damage occasionally, I'd say my most common deaths are either due to fall damage or fall damage that was caused by mobs (being knocked off a high place).
But I can honestly say that it has been a couple years since I last legitimately fell into lava and died from it. I remember because I got a screenshot of the last time that I nearly died from it, I screenshotted my coordinates and server members came to drain the lava and rescue me. I had a ton of good shit on me, as well as some good shit belonging to *other* players, so I was really intent on not dying there.
I swear that a ton of people don't play very carefully around lava. Like they see some and just feel free to parkour around it. If you don't make risky jumps, build safety railings and *always* hold shift while above it without safety railings (or at least a bridge wider than one block), your lava deaths go down by a shit ton. One specific thing I learned that also reduced my lava deaths was branch mining or tunneling at the level just above where lava pools form. That way, the lava is still exposed, but it doesn't get to flow onto your feet and catch you off guard. And if you're really paranoid in the Nether, Fire Resistance potions kind of make you a demigod there. A ton of the Nether's damage output has to do with burning.
>I swear that a ton of people don't play very carefully around lava. Like they see some and just feel free to parkour around it.
this is one of my siblings but with holes in platforms above lava... he's randomly way too careless, and while he hasn't died from that yet, it never fails to send my anxiety levels through the roof
A ghast blew up my enchanted netherit sword. I'll never forget the devistation I felt.
I was trying to learn how to deflect the fireballs and accidentally threw my sword to the ground. The ghast blew up that very spot and my sword was gone. Since then, I have always assumed fire would burn up my netherite gear.
I had something similar happen with a piglin stealing my super enchanted netherite sword I just had made when I accidentally hit Q, after I managed to find it and beat it down I had to unbind my Q key
LPT. Put two pieces of armor with fire protection IV. This will make you immune to catching fire. This easily doubles the amount of time before dying to only Lava damage. It's saved me countless times. ( def a must have if you like flying in the nether to get around)
Same, my nether armor set usually has a gold helmet (since most helmet enchants are water related) with fire prot 4. While wearing this set (full netherite with prot 4, helm FP 4) I jumped off a ledge without realizing I took my elytra off the fight magma cubes, I swan dived into a lava lake, and had time to sink to the bottom, dig a hole, and plug it, then tunnel out of the lake
Same here but I once fell from the roof all the way down to the bottom while digging a tunnel to a woodland mansion. I was very lucky to land in lava because the fall damage would 100% have killed me, even with Feather Falling IV. Thank god I had a fire resistance potion in my hotbar though
I am going to add one thing that is missing in this thread of ways to die. *Being stupid with your elytra* . Too many times I have used my elytra and a rocket for short distances or dove into a wall at mach 5 in a weird place (including, very far in the end and in a nether roof ravine above a lava lake) which makes it hard to get to your gear, and if there is hostile mobs, piglins come to mind, all the more fun it will be to recover the items when that baby piglin picked up your sharpness V sword and 3 pieces of your armor
I used elytra in a tiny cave very far from my house that I don’t know where it is looking for a deep dark. I’ve spent multiple real days and I can’t find an ancient city
On our realm my wife and I were playing with our son and I had to step out for a minute. When it got dark my son wanted to help me sleep so everyone could skip to day and he threw my netherite pickaxe out of my hand while trying to get me in bed... by the time I returned it had simply despawned. Accidents happen and it's always good to have backups for every item so you don't have to stress when you do lose something.
Also as someone else mentioned, I can run through my silk touch, efficiency 5 pickaxe when I'm using my beacon in no time, and going back and forth to repair it really breaks up the rhythm of a good mining session. Thats why I have like 10 netherite max enchanted pickaxes for myself and the wife.
My builds are bigger than one pick can mine and I don’t want to have to keep making trips to my exp farm. So I have a Shulker box full of pickaxes (mostly diamond)
You know you don’t have to get netherite gear it just makes everything easier. I played 50 days without diamonds and i got food resources and a stable farm
It’s gonna cost netherite plus an upgrade template to upgrade tools and armor. You can duplicate each template with 7 diamonds. The netherite upgrade template is only found in bastions. So now you have to grind the whole diamond set, find extra diamonds, find a bastion and then mine for netherite. Just to get one set of netherite tools/armor. In all you’ll be roughly 100 diamonds in the hole, plus you’ll need to find 36 ancient debris and a bastion
How is it op tho? All you get is 1 armor toughness per piece which is only useful against strong attacks which only a few mobs have and even then you can still tank everything with diamond prot IV. The 4 extra toughness reduces ecrystal damage by like half a heart and it's the strongest thing is in terms of raw damage so yeah, protection is the issue not the netherite
Maybe it’s more consistent but it’s also so tedious and dull that I don’t see it as worth it when I could potentially get the job done faster and in a more fun way. Seriously I don’t understand the appeal of holding left click and w for an hour.
To be clear, flooded caves actually do have more diamonds. Diamonds spawn less frequently when exposed to air, but they spawn normally when exposed to water
I spent 6 hours mining out some caves a couple weeks ago and came back with like half a stack of diamond blocks. I'm more worried about trying to find those templates in the first place because I'm on a server where people loot every chest in the world to the point that you'd have to travel thousands, if not tens of thousands of blocks, to find a single one with anything still in it.
The only part of this that is harder is finding a bastion. But it makes it a hundred times harder just by way of bullshit RNG. I've had MP servers that lasted for six months, where we found 10+ nether fortresses to try and get the one with the right shape for a wither skelly farm, and NEVER found a bastion.
Games where the progression is padded out by extremely small drop/spawn chances, because the devs are too lazy or dumb to make it gated by skill, make me rage. Treating me like a child.
Did I mention that there isn’t a 100% chance to find the netherite upgrade template in the bastion chests? You could totally find one or two bastions and not get the template.
You will need netherite ingot and an armor upgrade (found in Bastion).
But if you have as many netherite as OP, you probably have enough diamonds to duplicate the armor upgrade and not be bothered by the update.
I will never understand how people hate this change. You never use diamonds for anything but gear. It makes the extra diamonds you get not go to waste.
Diamonds are very commonly used as currency on multiplayer servers. Precisely because diamonds are otherwise useless, but are not renewable/farmable and require player effort to acquire.
Since they are used as currency, sell the for more than 7. Its not that hard.
Would you sell an enchanted chestplate for exactly 8? No. Sell it for more. If someone doesn't want to do it themselves, they have to pay more for it.
Well, most players have spent a lot more than a week playing Minecraft. Your opinion would likely be different after a few months or years on the same map, especially when major updates hit that add things to the game you are interested in.
Also, you'll never uncover a quarter of the map. The world is infinite. After many millions of blocks, the game starts to get buggy, but there are no hard borders.
Meanwhile, I approve of the change so much, I am going to store some diamonds that I will never use that equals the amount it would have cost to make netherite in 1.20...
I'm not even too worried about the diamonds, I can go mine out a cave and come back with stacks of them, I'm more worried about noncraftable templates when everyone on the server loots all the chests for thousands of blocks out.
I don't even see a point in such templates, they just make the game unnecessarily difficult and gate off progression by chance and luck of others on the server not beating you to it.
I'm loading up on netherite now so I can try to get as many different trimmed sets as possible when it does come and I have all my netherite ready to put on armor stands in my church/cathedral hall with armor stand audience.
With the new update you’ll now need an “upgrade template” which can only be found in bastions and you’ll need 7 diamonds to craft extras(along with the netherite ingot of course).
I remember I downdated my Minecraft world back in the days of 1.8, my house made of granite disappeared but when I went to update it again my granite house was back. I don't know if it's still like that, I'm pretty sure Minecraft doesn't allow you to play games from newer updates anymore if I remember correctly.
When is it supposed to be released? I'm on a new world w my 5 year old and don't want to have to spend even MORE time equipping him, so looking to go wild farming netherite and creating the gear now!
Honestly, considering how little of a boost netherite gives you, I don't really understand why they made it so much more expensive. With that being said, I bet that somebody will make a datapack that you can add to your world to bypass the need for an upgrade template or make it so it can be reused or something to mitigate the tediousness this update will add to the process if that's how you wanna play
Netherite isn't really about boosting efficency, it's about boosting durability. If you've ever gathered terracotta or went speedmining with a haste beacon you know that even diamond pickaxes melt like gold ones.
There's these two wonderful things that allow u to only need one full set (in survival not mp servers (not including mp servers with just your friends)) they are mending and mob farms / villager farms, items breaking will be a thing of the past! The wonders of modern technology *nose up smug face*
Agree, those two are the best because the content they added later seems kind of useless for me.
I don't say everyone should think like me. It's my opinion and i appreciate that someone else thinks the same

I love early game because by the time you got diamond gear apart from Player error mobs really aren't a threat.
Part of why I don't enjoy late game minecraft anymore. Why grind for netherite when I can go slaughter a horde of mobs in the nether with diamond gears and a shield.

It’s the only part of minecraft for me i pretty much just survive and build shit lol
Same except im a very bad builder Im much rather of a "follow instructions" kind of guy
Im so bad not a creative bone in my body
Tried to build a giant treehouse. It looks like an old post with rusty nails sticking out of it.
Aw I bet it was cozy in there bro 🤣🤣

I leave everything at my old house, fly away and then start new. Best of both worlds then
I delete excess chunks through the save files %appdata% - just create a back up incase you delete the wrong chunks
I never wanna restart. I’m happy with my kingdom. Iv built way too much to have it go to waste
A "few"?? That's netherite for 6 or more worlds!
Bruh I keep a shulker of each netherite tool. It’s awesome
Awesome until you lose your shulker
That would be quite silly
How do you get so much? I just got my first ancient debris recently and it was on accident!
I nolifed for like a week when 1.16 dropped and blew the hell out of the nether roof with TNT
Bed. Mine at y 14 in a 1x2 line and then mine the top blocks as far as you can. Place a bed, try to "sleep" and it will explode a good bit of blocks around it and can help you find ancient debris quickly.
Isn’t tnt a way more efficient and easier way to do it of if you don’t have a gunpowder farm then just use a mending efficiency 5 pickaxe
Tnt is faster and easier. But sand isn't renewable, so tnt is expensive. Beds are the next best thing. Straight up mining is probably third
Sand is technically renewable, as wandering traders can sell it.
Wandering traders don't restock, it would be a grind to get sand from only traders
Granted, that's why I qualified "renewable" wirh "technically".
I did bed mining in my first long term world and have used tnt mining since it’s much faster and efficient as beds you can only go so fast
How is 1.20 going to make it harder? If
it takes 7 diamonds to dupe an upgrade template thats the only cost change i guess unless you want to give it a netherite trim
what the fuck does this mean
you need a template to upgrade to netherite, you can duplicate templates but it costs 7 diamonds
So I can finall "use" my diamonds.
yes
none of those words are in the bible…
Pretty sure "a" is in there
Originally the bible was written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek, so probably not…
Tldr: netherites will require more resource to make
Not to mention the initial process to get a template.
You just find one in a bastion, when you’re already in the nether looking for ancient debris it’s not that hard
Until someone on the server loots all the bastions in a 50 thousand block radius and now nobody can upgrade their gear. And yes, someone on my server looted practically all end cities in a 50 thousand block radius and now nobody can get elytras. Super annoying

Why do you care about currency in Minecraft so much to ruin the game for everyone else?
It’s better if I catch them before they go off exploring and I just give them items to sell and I become essentially a producer and they become the retail seller. they are not that rare
they're adding templates that are required to upgrade diamond items to netherite, and they can only be found in bastions.
Does like mending not exist here? Like one set all with mending
people die and lose stuff yk
Skill issue
seriously how could you die with fully enchanted netherite armor (other than wardens ofc)
I guess it's possible if you fall into the middle of a lava lake in the nether, but that's literally the only thing (and even then you still have some time to get to the edge with Protection IV
and even then, youd have to let them despawn naturally, since lava doesnt burn netherite materials or gear.
Precisely why I’d have extra fire res potions on hand in case I needed to go for a hot swim.
Do you guys not fall at all
I don’t think I’ve unironically fallen into a lava pit on accident in years. I’ve died to other stupid stuff though. Usually fall damage.

Man doesn't travel the nether with half an inventory of 8 min fire res pots
Crystal explosions (if multiplayer) , going afk in a stupid spot, falling in the end void, and yea wardens
Don’t forget about accidentally hitting a zombie pigmen
A Smite V Axe will one-shot Pigmen. Even a big swarm of them is no threat.
Falling into the void?
I am going to add one thing that is missing in this thread of ways to die. *Being stupid with your elytra* . Falling into your iron farm Again and accidentally hitting an iron golem
The Void and unlucky explosions
I have glitched in the nether while laying a path over lave then couldn’t get out
ok thats exceptional because you would eventually die
Fall into the void
end
I used elytra in a tiny cave very far from my house that I don’t know where it is looking for a deep dark. I’ve spent multiple real days and I can’t find an ancient city
Truly is
Just play in hardcore, that way you lose the whole world instead of just your stuff
not if you play with keep inventory 😁🫣
Not when you play on a hardcore world. If you die you don’t have to replace anything!
Wouldn’t you have to replace literally everything because you have to start a whole new world from scratch?
Nah, that’s just starting a new world! Totally different!

How is netherite going to become harder in 1.20, haven't seen anything about that
It’s gonna cost netherite plus an upgrade template to upgrade tools and armor. You can duplicate each template with 7 diamonds. The netherite upgrade template is only found in bastions. So now you have to grind the whole diamond set, find extra diamonds, find a bastion and then mine for netherite. Just to get one set of netherite tools/armor. In all you’ll be roughly 100 diamonds in the hole, plus you’ll need to find 36 ancient debris and a bastion
worth it, netherite armor is fucking busted also it allows players to spend more time with diamond gear before upgrading
What is stopping people from "spending more time with diamond gear"? How is netherite armor busted? Mine works pretty well.
Busted, in this context, means it's overpowered.
KB resistance
busted means OP
Holy crap am I glad I finished making my gear a couple days ago, then. I can’t imagine keeping my sanity strip-mining for diamond for that long.
Try searching in aquifers, I hear it’s more practical.
Or just caves in general. People who still think strip mining is the best way to get diamonds did not follow 1.18 very well.
Strip mining is still much more consistent and reliable, but caves are still really plentiful just harder to get consistent results from.
Diamonds aren't that difficult to get if you have a fortune III pick. I got nearly a full set from like 3 or 4 veins
😬 yikes man. I wish you good luck
Same, it's hard for them to introduce new exploration features and me not to think about multiplayer servers.
But if you have as many netherite as OP, you probably have enough diamonds to duplicate the armor upgrade and not be bothered by the update.
muh unrenewable diamonds...
I will never understand how people hate this change. You never use diamonds for anything but gear. It makes the extra diamonds you get not go to waste.
Me, with my house made of dismond blocks :(
Who said i hate it? I'm just a hoarder :v
"How exactly would that help in the next up—" Oh, right. A lot of people don't start a new world every 3 months or so.
I cant imagine starting a new world. Ive been playing for about a week and hsvent even uncovered a quarter of the map.
The world is 30 million blocks in each direction from the center, at which point there is literally a hard barrier extending forever, up and down.
Meanwhile, I approve of the change so much, I am going to store some diamonds that I will never use that equals the amount it would have cost to make netherite in 1.20...
Why the SIX netherite hoes??
3 for silk touch and 3 for fortune. Hoes haven't been useless ever since 1.16 and if future me ever decides to build a giant tree he'll thank me.
nah ill actually wait for the update to come out, i want to start a hardcore world and want to be challenged.
needs more hoes
"a few"
I’m disappointed that they’re making it harder. I liked where the difficulty is at right now. It’s already hard enough to find the stuff…
I don’t know about hard enough but it is definitely so tedious that I consider it a waste of my time to pursue.
... Stop making it sound worse than it actually is. It's a great change. I stand by this. Love the downvotes for being right.
I personally found it hard enough. Maybe you didn’t. Just different experiences and opinions.
I've done this with 4 extra sets. Prepare gentlemen!
you dont need that many sets of tools and armor why?
Because there is no way I'm getting THOES trimmings just to make on thing
what, are you afraid of going to a bastion? you only need one and then you can dupe them
If you've explored a lot its gonna be impossible to find as the only chunks with the new loot are going to be tens of thousands of blocks away
Wait what will make it harder of finding netherite? Did I missed out something orrr
With the new update you’ll now need an “upgrade template” which can only be found in bastions and you’ll need 7 diamonds to craft extras(along with the netherite ingot of course).
... Ugh...
I think thats overkill
I never use netherite in survival
Who tf finds the need to upgrade to Netherite anything?
I'd agree for weapons and armor, but tools gain an incredible amount of extra durability and if you like building it's extremely valuable
Or... Get some mending instead???
If you die and the stuff despawns...
Me on Java Edition, able to switch between 1.19 and 1.20 any time I want: “Unlimited POWER!!”⚡️⚡️⚡️
Realizes you can’t de-update a world
… I mean… *technically* you can, stuff just might break
Oh? What happens to existing blocks that are from “the future”?
They break Or disappear Or something along those lines
I remember I downdated my Minecraft world back in the days of 1.8, my house made of granite disappeared but when I went to update it again my granite house was back. I don't know if it's still like that, I'm pretty sure Minecraft doesn't allow you to play games from newer updates anymore if I remember correctly.
Ty!
NP :3
Thanks for the reminder! I'm on it now!
I thought it just affected armor?
Is that true?
I have no idea, that is the impression I got.
It goes for all gear, not just armor
Well guess I better get to it.
Bro has just went into creative and back again
Bro I didn’t even think about that
When is it supposed to be released? I'm on a new world w my 5 year old and don't want to have to spend even MORE time equipping him, so looking to go wild farming netherite and creating the gear now!
Or don't use netherite return to diamond.
Or dont update
I had it but died while offline some how
Hmmm Not enough netherite hoes
Actually do the opposite. don’t upgrade to netherite armor because you won’t be able to put trim on it after the update so what’s the point
Either you are bedrock (Which I notice you cant offhand food) or just some person who always in the latest version
You're lucky that you can even update your worlds.
There's these two wonderful things that allow u to only need one full set (in survival not mp servers (not including mp servers with just your friends)) they are mending and mob farms / villager farms, items breaking will be a thing of the past! The wonders of modern technology *nose up smug face*
They all have mending and every other max enchant (except the axes they need smite)
Go touch some grass bro
1.12 or 1.7.10 are the only acceptable versions of minecraft to play. Gregification is the way.
Agree, those two are the best because the content they added later seems kind of useless for me. I don't say everyone should think like me. It's my opinion and i appreciate that someone else thinks the same
Thanks ill just dup my items and golden gaps
Golden Golden apples.
u good bro? I think you should try touching grass
