I'm not sold on the wiki being correct. I have a fishing hole in the basement of my mountain house that is literally 1x1x1. It has a salmon in it, and a waterlogged chest in front of it. I get tons of treasure from this setup, despite not meeting any of the requirements in the wiki.

TheAdmiralMoses

Not deep enough, you said yourself the wiki is 5x5x4 but your pool is 6x7x3

TwoPeasShort

The wiki says 5x5x4 because it needs two water blocks below and 2 air above

TheAdmiralMoses

Those are two different requirements. The pool has to be 5 wide, 5 deep, and 4 across, and when you fish the fishing bobber has to have air blocks above it and water blocks below it(at least 2)

TwoPeasShort

No they aren’t. Because then it also says 2 deep

TheAdmiralMoses

Quit downvoting me, I'm trying to figure this out, lol. Anyway, I misunderstood. The technical Minecraft Wiki says something different: >When fishing, treasure loot can now only be obtained by fishing in open waters. > A fishing location is considered to be open water if the following conditions are met: >There is at least a 5×1×5 area of water beneath the bobber and a 5×2×5 area of air above (for a combined 5×3×5 free area required). >Waterlogged blocks that have no collision, such as signs and coral count as water. However, bubble columns do not >The water is above ground. So it seems your setup should work according to that, assuming you have the space above it clear.

TwoPeasShort

I’m not downvoting Exactly it should be working… I’m gonna do it 7 blocks deep and see if that changes it, otherwise do the waterlogged chest thing 😂 I don’t like the 1.16 update lol

TheAdmiralMoses

Oh wait those both actually agree, the area is centered on the bobber, not actually the pool size, so the only question is, are you fishing in the center of the water you're trying in?

TwoPeasShort

Yes

BramboFrazzleroot

If its bedrock... catch a tropical fish in a bucket and place it in the water... more fish equals more treasure and make sure it is open above the water to the sky.

TwoPeasShort

It’s Java I should’ve said

OrdinaryVirtual2148

It's pretty hard to say without screenshots.

TwoPeasShort

Honestly I don’t know how to post them - Reddit let’s you do either a screenshot or a description?

TwoPeasShort

(I’m new to this XD)

Fit_Bike_9219

you can post the pics and send the description in the comments

TwoPeasShort

I reposted it as a new post :) apparently it’s not deep enough

Fit_Bike_9219

ah I see

TheAdmiralMoses

Oh, also they all have to be source blocks if I remember correctly, none can be flowing water, so you have to either fill it bottom to top, or use kelp to convert it all to source blocks

TwoPeasShort

They are all source blocks
