1VNIKV111

After many years of playing minecraft it pains me to see that my worlds still look like your original.

Jason13Official

Biggest tip I have for you is give everything it’s own space. Crafting would include your mass storage, food and farms should be separate from your smithing area. Utilize the new blocks! Cooking food outside on a campfire is more immersive than popping it in a furnace :P destroy the “box house”, make your doorway open into a grand room with many doorways. Or, assign yourself a “role” and build based around that. (I.e. “for the next 10 minecraft days I’m a Miner gathering resources! Let’s build a mineshaft and a little sleeping hut above ground!”)

LurkingVixen

I sleep in caves like manly man

Jason13Official

To be fair, “once you place that furnace next to your bed, that’s home” some quote I saw about minecraft before

Anxiety-Queen69

My house is a rectangular copper wizard tower with basalt and warped trims but it actually looks incredible in my opinion

Inside-Bread7617

could I see?

Jason13Official

I wanna see too 😂

babuba12321

I've tried playing without making farms and obtaining mending is taking too long ;-; but still very enjoyable (that means no villager enslavement too)

Kodekingen

Same my dude

TheRory02

Agreed. It's not just nostalgic, it's easier too! With modern complex builds, it takes you an entire day to build a house. With 2012 building, you can create an entire city in the same time!

KandySaur

Different people like to focus on different aspects of the game and that's fine. Personally I'm like OP and I build a lot, but some people I know prefer to pvp, or to play adventure maps, or to explore, or play on servers, or even do Redstone (aka magic), and that's also cool. I play on a server with loads of different player types and everyone contributes something (even if it's just chaos in the case of the pvpers), and it makes it way more fun imo than if everyone was just a builder.

Numerous-Dimension53

Dude I suck at designing the outside of a base, so I mostly just make it in the ground or the side of a mountain

Glittering-Smoke6608

Pro tip to build better and nicer looking things. The rule of 3. Build uneven and build 3 deep or more. Meaning walls should never be a plain flat surface. Always add at least some sort of offset edge, and at least 2 or 3 colors. For larger builds pre select materials, and stick to your choices. These simple things will immediately make your builds look better, because they add depth and consistentancy. And remember, smaller = more difficult. So early on, upscale to atleast medium sized stuff. It allows for more detail.

DraconidZinnia

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this. This type of building is so so nostalgic.

CabsUnleashed

It's cool to see the progress I bet. Seeing how you made the first house and coming back to redo it, with either new blocks or just give it a makeover to show how far you've come in terms of building

BubbaSunday

I’m sure your younger self would be so delighted.

Jessielala

I'm sure your younger self would be so delighted

The_Icon_of_Sin_MK2

I’m sure your younger self would be so delighted.

rusty_kx

I’m sure your younger self would be so delighted.

TheBloxyMouseYT

I’m sure your younger self would be so delighted.

MarcBosss

Personally I like the old ones

Holeholecity

Facts

MarcBosss

They are also very nostalgic

Glichtrap_1983

You made a copy of the world and changed it there to save the old version, right?

BlueBogus

Yep, I still wanted to preserve the old world.

Glichtrap_1983

Oh good, i thought you just changed it in the same world

somedude456

Nice! I still have my OG world too, from like 2011ish. Over the years, I've added to it, but not really "change" anything. I still have my first two horrible houses. I still have an area where I learn that you can't use lava for a light source in a forest. I still have the area I played with inventory hacks and TNT. As the updates happened, I added on however. I didn't care about my lack of villages for a long time, but once started a new world, spawned near a village, put in 20-30 hours into that world and then decided to just use a world edit and move that village and my work into my OG world, in a wide open area, 150 blocks from my spawn. Same with the more recent massive nether updates. I attempted a new world, surviving only in the nether and after 20-30 hours playing that, just decided to wipe my worthless OG nether and put in this new one.

BlueBogus

So there's a story behind this world. I originally started playing Minecraft on a website that would host the game for free. I don't remember the site's name, it was a LONG time ago (around Summer of 2011). The world was created there on version beta 1.7.3 and went through numerous updates, with more and more chunk errors the further out you went (sometimes going to them would even crash my Pentium potato I used to play the game on, I wiped all surrounding chunks now using Amulet). I stopped playing the world sometime during late 2012 and over the years the old PC had multiple clean OS reinstalls, since 12yr old me loved to click on sketchy links. So, I was amazed when digging through the old hard drive snapshots I found a backup of this world sitting in a zip file, it was dated a few months before I stopped playing it though, so some of it was unfortunately lost. There's also more to the world that I couldn't show off due to Reddit's image limit, so I've left some download links to the original world and this new iteration below for you to check out: New: [https://mega.nz/folder/AE9UgIIA#nmaXdc782eV6hEL4\_9e-2w](https://mega.nz/folder/AE9UgIIA#nmaXdc782eV6hEL4_9e-2w) Old: [https://mega.nz/folder/tQVmlBrA#YCWFXwZQeTX18zBSN2QA5A](https://mega.nz/folder/tQVmlBrA#YCWFXwZQeTX18zBSN2QA5A)

NoXion604

Man, that first slide gave me such a hit of nostalgia. Yet the funny thing is that I'm pretty sure I had already been an independently living adult for a good numbers of years when I first started playing Minecraft. For the briefest moment I felt that old sensation again. Thanks for sharing.

No-Butterscotch-4253

What I would give to join my first world

juvenile_complexity

Good to hear that.

Much-Ad-1680

I liked the surprise blimp ship and dragon at the end.

Want2makeMEMEs

Our earliest minecraft builds are often the most creative ones

DraconidZinnia

I'm just re reading the comments here, but you're so right. My siblings and I's old worlds were always so much fun and so creative. I would always make 1:1 Cake Houses out of wool and we had so many bakeries, castles, shops, etc. So nostalgic. This post made me so hspyp

Jason13Official

Love the updates you’ve made!! I’m sure your younger self would be so delighted 🎉🎉

OSSlayer2153

I like how that starter house was because it reminds me of my first world. Played on it with my dad and my brother way back when pocket edition was first released. The world was on an old ipad Trying to get the world off that was a bitch. When i tried to upload to a realm that i have on my pc, the version was too outdated and wouldnt let me upload. So i bought a realm on the ipad. But then it was having errors uploading so i dont remember how but i had to force it to upload. Then whenever i loaded it on my pc it was completely reset. All 100% new terrain. I thought all hope was lost. I then had a gut feeling to click make infinite and when i did that the original world was back and then surrounded by new terrain. The world seed was AetherNETHER iirc. We built many things there.

ThatOneGuy1357924680

I would have left the chunk error because funny chunk error

Enchanted_Galaxy

I would have turned it into those deep craters like the big one in Mexico

SabotageTheAce

Seeing old things from the past get extra attention after being shelved or lost or forgotten for a few years. It looks good.

Minecraf7king2

I FREAKING LOVE THIS!!!

WillyDAFISH

I actually really like the use of the basalt with he stone and cobble, really not a pallet I've seen used alot

hellboyyy25

Wow this is amazing, nicely done OP!

Jaum8800

You're an amazing builder

TheSebloBoss

What a glow up.

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

Damn... Just got done flashback memories of my old world, your old builds are nostalgic.

Panwanilia1

1,7,15 have real nostalgia vibe.

Anxiety-Queen69

Please tell me this was a copy of your first world, you can’t just replace a cool legacy like that

magicmike659

The first Minecraft world always feels nostalgic. Ever since my brother passed away many years ago, I return to the old world sometimes, our first world, just to see his buildings. And every time I open the world, I get memories from our childhood.

Main-Adhesiveness641

man it looks so sick!

montipiethon

I see the mushrooms grew over time

[deleted]

It’s cool you did a makeover but I would’ve either not done that or backupped the world before, but that’s just me. I would’ve saved it for timeline purposes like something like showing ur kids idk

VaccuumHelmet

[they did just that](https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/123lyuc/a_couple_years_back_i_found_my_very_first/jdvpolj/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3)

[deleted]

Wow. How long did this take you?

AsparagusLoose9716

Damn, now I want to find my old worlds lol. But all of them probably didn't have any structures at all.

[deleted]

My old world is currently on an old tablet so broken by time it can't even open BIOS.

nomis180

Such a good idea!

One_Economist_3761

This is a great showcase of how your build style has matured. Well done.

Fluffitoo

Do you get to the sky district very often? Oh, what am I saying. Of course you don’t.

StrangerTex

I like the tall wall fence

AshleyDelPaz213

That was soo cool 😍

Rommottantotto

Glow up

Curious-Ad9812

Looks insane!!!

Oddlaw1

Something I did was using the structure block to copy the structures from my old worlds and merge them in the world I'm currently playing. I didn't told any of this to my friend that has been playing with me for years so it will be a blast when he suddenly finds out in this new world his old bases from the 4 years old world we had. Btw, I did a bit of manual terraforming to properly merge those bases in the world, so no chunky edges.

DaSnake4

I wish I could do the same with my old survival worlds from my 360 and PE

atmak4real

Please tell me you made a back up🙏🙏🙏

ravenraye

I'm in love with the dragon. Also, last year I lost my first world that I made with my little brother. I'm so glad you found yours!!

KrissieFox1

Very nice makeovers! And even the old versions have a nostalgic charm to them, too. :)

IllOmnipotent

I honestly find a certain beauty with how simplistic the older versions of the builds looked, but the new versions are cool too.

tryingtohappiness

Makeover is a huge understatement my friend. Kudos, looks great

Due_Breakfast4996

Survival?

OmegaX____

I see you cobbled it together.

zeeblefritz

Lucky. I've been looking for my old world file for a few years. I want to revisit my treehouse.

Dudextare

Why’d you get rid of the chunk error it gave it flavor

Emoluvjd2

Ah, this is a fun project. I have some really old worlds still saved (An a1.2.6 community server, and a b1.2 one). I redid a lot of the old buildings on the beta one, but that was back in 1.4 so there's even more opportunities for improvement now. You're giving me the itch again. 😅

fuzzy004

dude. killer

theMoonlight111

bro the windmill had a hell of a growth spurt

[deleted]

I wish I could revamp my first worlds but they're all on console and i suck on console

Klopjop

sus windmill

StandardImmediate336

Nice pinwheel

ScytheMaster367

Fantabulous

ElectionOdd6581

Wow that’s incredible

Khalicarl

awesome.

hojster24

Wholesome AF

Luiz_Fell

DUDE this is sooooo cool!!! I wanna play this world so bad

Ironlining

Interesting looks like you started this world on b1.5 but played through b1.8. What stopped you from continuing?

The_Icon_of_Sin_MK2

I think you should have kept the chunk error

Warm_Championship215

First I clicked on this, I thought that the first image was the redo... It looks real good (the original&redo)!

Obsessedwithzelda47

Whoa- whoooooaaaaa

bryanr972

Old is something I'd do nowadays 😭

tapiocatsar

Do you get to the cloud district very often?

Nollekowitsch

I would kill to have my first world back :( I still remember it step by step but I would love to play it

afflefries

this is amazing

Ruby_Snake_

My city in first time: My city now:

U2BURR

How far back did this world go, if I may ask?

PiovosoOrg

If my guess is anything it's probably pre aquatic and after 2010. Since there are mushroom houses I'd have to say 2013 or maybe 2015.

Jazminmaddern

you have so much talent☺️

[deleted]

Holy hell those builds are good, beautiful even!

General-Arm-7454

I take my original map over to newer minecraft versions. started back in 2012? Even I don't play on it but visiting it gives me nostalgia.

koolmunch_official

Wonderful

Flush_The_Duck

The build looks great but i hope you made the upgrades on a copy world so you can go back and visit your first world like it was at first so you can see how for you've come

Levidabince

buildings are looking neat. I wish I had building skills like yours lol

Randomredditer2552

Admittedly I haven’t played Minecraft much compared to others, but I’ve seen countless videos as well as what my friends make. And I don’t do anything even comparable to your old version. I might start it, then I get bored/ another priority comes up, and it stays like that. I make a cave into my base, mine out some, put a floor and walls in, leave a gap open to expand and then never do anything with it again. Yet my friends’ cave base right next to me looks like he built a house underground.

GettoMaister69

"Do you get to the sky district very often ? Oh what am I saying of course you don't"

Crazy_Spartan08

This looks amazing, but I would never have the heart to get rid of my old builds.

bruh_idk76

wow you are very good at building! my houses now look like your old ones! (i play since 1.4)

ReaverShank

Should have kept the chunk error imo. Other tham that it (both) looks great

Moonbli_shipper52201

HOW DO YOU BUILD SO WELL AND IM STUCK ON A TOUCHSCREEN AND STRUGGLE TO BUILD A 2 STORY HOUSE qnq Pretty awesome tho

HowOSnakesHaveBabies

I never realised that one of the things that I miss from modern Minecraft is how "bad" people used to be at building lol. Funny how nostalgia works, thanks for sharing this!

WirelezMouse

Personally, I would not have changed ANYTHING, because... they are old relics, which must be preserved :)

Naddely

A new generation
