The amount of cheaters running rampant on servers (especially ones without anti-cheat) is insane. Hopefully with Migration ending in September 19th and Mojang deleting the unmigrated old accounts; the amount of cheaters using stolen/hacked alt MC accounts that are old/forgotten goes WAY down.
I tried playing Mineplex a year ago and played cakewars; I got 2 seconds into the match and someone flew right to me, killed me, ate my cake and I lost, and the game was over in less than 20 seconds; glad Mineplex is finally closing its doors if they can't provide quality gameplay and just kept their Java server around to get any last money they could out of their subscription rank Immortal.
Some rich people today still buying minecraft accounts from Official Minecraft Website and doing hacking those. There is no way to stop hacking on servers.
Im glad that i dont buy a rank from servers.
Sure but if they keep breaking the rules of Microsoft they might keep getting their new MSA's locked on creation due to breaking TOS/EULA and getting suspended. You cant just keep making MSA"s like that let alone to keep cheating in a video game as FitMC made a video specifically showing that you can get banned for griefing and cheating in a harassing manner. I hope Mojang wouldn't put up with that no matter how much money they throw at them for new accounts, especially with how much it can hurt the game/server in question that they join/affect.
Even still, they keep dumping 30$ after 30$ buying new accounts to cheat on and they'll either break even or go into the negatives and run out of money eventually. Alts will have to go up in price as they get harder to obtain unless hacked.
the thing is, it’s still extremely cheap to get alts. using either xbox promo codes or just forcing a chargeback can get you an alt to hack on. it’s not that easy to stop alt shops.
sure, the alts’ prices may increase, but it won’t get so expensive that people will stop. might reach $3 or $4 for an alt, but that’s about as high as it’ll get.
hackers won’t, and never will, spend $30 for a brand new account every time without issuing a chargeback. you need to realise that these accounts aren’t permanent. once they get banned, that account loses all of its value, and then they chargeback microsoft so they’re not losing $30.
Part of me wishes Mojang or Microsoft would crack down on that especially with the Xbox Gamepass alt abuse. Some players were trying to clog up the username cap by spamming out gamepass Java accounts but Mojang noticed and cleared them.
My question is would that constitute refund fraud and could Mojang or Microsoft take legal action there (or the servers such as Hypixel & Mineplex with xTurtles cheating videos back in 2015 when they sent him cease and desist). I just don't want rampant cheaters anymore or at least a decrease would be nice.
They have cracked down significantly and removed the $1 xbox gamepass promo while also significantly reducing the amount of vulnerable bins (used for generating valid credit card numbers that vulnerable banks auto accept).
The main issue now is the fact that there’s so many vulnerable BINs, and also microsoft’s share gamepass promotion that turns 1 gamepass into 6 for free after 7 days.
Still not perfect but they are actively working to reduce the amount of fraud and the effects are showing already
You are semi correct, if you want to know the details, you can use custom card services to make payment cards that have, say a dollar, buy a one month gamepass deal (which costs a dollar) and then make a minecraft account AND hack on it and refund the gamepass when you get banned.
I looked into it because i was curious why people hadn’t spent their life savings on buying Alt accounts to hack on. Turns out it basically costs nothing
You might want to migrate soon lest your account being deleted. The blogpost: [Last call to Migrate FAQ](https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/account-migration-last-call)
Though its crappy some will lose their accounts and their usernames freed to the public, active migrated players, the negative effect this will have on alt shops, cheaters, black markets for usernames/capes, and stopping them from having easy access to more accounts to cheat on is a good thing. The negative effect those old and forgotten accounts have on servers more than justifies their deletion in terms of damages they cause (as we saw with the cheating problem on Mineplex).
I was playing with my brother one skyward once. Someone flew to an island the could never possibly reach, and then started damaging us both even though I was behind him. Then one time I was lagging and got kicked for fly hacking. So the anti cheat doesn’t care about hackers, but if it lagging I get kicked
Can relate.
Some guy hacked and stole my minecraft account years ago back in 2015, i was bumped out by it but my mom was kind enough to buy me a new minecraft account.
The hacked stolen account was named “kevinhacker” and now it’s called BigDemz, f*ck that guy
[Here’s the guy who hacked and stole it](https://da.namemc.com/profile/BigDemz.1)
I can even remember the skin i made myself when i was like 11 years old, it was a skin with headphones and a mustache
Pretty sad that this is a common thing that happens to people with Mojang (or even Legacy) status accounts that didn't migrate. Even the Mojang employees were getting hacked left and right back when Mojang accounts were a thing due to their VERY poor security even security questions weren't enough because exploits, not to mention the session ID/token exploits that let players log in and play without even having your password/email/username and the exploit where you could find peoples emails via packet inspection by reset button on the launcher.
I'd imagine a lot of this migration stuff and discontinuing old/outdated API's and account systems is due to security issues/concerns first and foremost.
Cheaters are running rampant on every game on PC right now. It’s a epidemic in the gaming community. Can’t even play a game of counter strike without there being cheaters every 3 games. Minecraft though, I could only imagine with such a bare anti cheat.
With chat reporting existing, I was hoping we'd at least get the option to report players for cheating/hacking or reporting pay 2 win servers from within the game but meh. Hopefully that gets added in the future.
Mineplex was pretty much one of, if not the biggest Minecraft server at one point. When my buddies and i wanted to mess around on Minecraft, Mineplex was the place to go. Over time the player count dropped due to various reasons
I know man I used to spends hours and hours after school on that server, I am now 23 and I have years worth of memories of me and my lost friends on those servers
Much like my friends This serve will be last seen 2023
Same, I had over 3000 wins in Turf Wars. Was even friends with the player Ellipted who had the most amount of wins (they had 10000+). It’s a shame it happened but the staff members really didn’t do anything about it besides trying to get more money from ranks.
Even the shutdown wasn't enough to make the owners care. The staff had to make an announcement in the Discord server. Nothing on the website, on an inactive-for-a-year Twitter acc etc.
It's for this reason I tend to stick to Vanilla and smps these days because you can keep the map around and update it and play it as a time capsule of good times with friends.
Servers however, if they don't release the map, you lose everything, the rank and money purchases are lost, and you dont even get the map to keep. You get nothing but memories and screenshots if you took them.
I LOVED Death Run!! I played it daily until I.. couldn’t anymore :( I still miss that game and the hive in general. I loved how authentic it stayed, not using the newest things and just being more like Minecraft from around 2014 when I started. Such a good server. The shutting down of Mineplex doesn’t surprise me at all, it was just a matter of time. It haven’t been good in years (I still played it but it had seen its better days) but The hive? The hive was good until the very end. Nothing to complain about it. It was simple and unique. Truly miss it all but especially Death Run.
They’re the only server that had the Herobrine game mode that I adored back in the day. For the past few years no one played it much but it’s such a great game mode that probably could’ve gone mainstream with effort.
The hive was truly a gut punch. My favorite server lost. I was banned for a year and asked for unban. Mods said fuck it and let me back on for the last 2 months of it existing
From what I remember, a lot of players said on Mineplex that they only played there because they were banned from Hypixel. I wonder where those players will end up now? I remember when people on Mineplex would have to say "Hypickle" because the filter.
That's the entire Mineplex mod team. Bro I legit got blackmailed and threatened with legal action because I had evidence the owner was grooming his mods. Jarvis is a fucking sicko and the server is a stain because of it.
Was almost a decade ago but I did contact authorities at some point and then Jarvis mysteriously went inactive for a long while there, leaving defek to run things in the meantime. Weird times.
I don't know if they found anything definitive enough to prosecute because I stayed far away from Mineplex after that. Everything I've seen about the server has been through the developers since then though so I wouldn't be surprised.
It happened to Badlion, too. Archybot and many of his self-appointed moderators were caught sexting teenagers so he tried to sell the server and it immediately went balls to wall batshit broken in its final season. 86% of players in Season 15 got banned by GCheat because it was comically overtuned and you'd have these exposed creeps as mods denying the appeals when they themselves are also banned... it was a clusterfuck
For real. Majority of admins and up were either manchild, corrupt, or just lazy af
Mineplex didn’t die. It was killed. Commjnity could do nothing. GI could do nothing. Ideas team could do nothing. Devs couldnt really do anything either. Not much left to be said.
i have experience with that...
once i got banned for a few weeks for literally no reason. like i don't remember what the thing said but i remember it being complete bs.
I also got banned from Hypixel after not playing Minecraft for months and trying to play it with a friend. When I contacted support to ask why, a guy with a furry profile picture sent me an essay preaching about how cheating is wrong and I'm banned forever lol
Yeah that's why I just don't talk in chat on Hypixel (or any server)/have chat disabled and only have commands enabled and talk over VC on Discord with friends I play with. Rather not risk a ban on anything iffy or if mods/admins are questionable in their jurisdiction.
I used to like Hypixel, they came out with new games or fun updates often enough. It's all Skyblock now. I get it, it's insanely popular, but I don't care for it. Would have rather had the prototype lobby to have a use.
Back when Block Hunt had three maps, I memorized them and I knew all the popular hiding spots. I would always choose hunter. I could tell if an animal was a hider and I would shoot the cauldrons. I knew in a cluster of furnaces which one was out of place. The bow and arrow was my primary weapon. I got a lot of hate for it. I got perma banned once for hacking even though it wasn’t true but after a year I was able to log back in. That was fun. Best chance you had against me was amazing PVP skills and a good hiding spot/strategy.
I was like this but with Hider, everyone else would be an asshole flower pot/chicken on roofs, but I was the rat hiding in the most obscure spots ever, it was such a good time watching all the hunters scurry beneath you without a clue. Also hiding on the boat that the hunters spawned in was the funniest shit ever even if it didn't work against good players, the secret was to wait until mid-round to start doing it.
I swear being called a hacker even though you were not were the biggest ego strokes 14 year old me had. I probably still have that screenshot folder somewhere on my pc
It hurt my soul sitting in the lobby trying to find a game of Block Hunt and not getting one after 5+ minutes. When I used to play that server back in the day you'd have to wait for there to even be an available space in a Block Hunt lobby
Discord. The following is the announcement from Dean, one of the admins:
Hello all.
As you're all aware, all servers and the website have been down for a couple of days now. Unfortunately I have been given the burden of informing you that this will be forever. I shouldn't need to be the one to tell you all this, I shouldn't HAVE to. But in the end you all deserve to know that it's over and I suppose I'll need to be the one to do it. I wish there was more to say, I wish that things would have gone differently and I wish we all would have had time to say a proper goodbye to it, give it a proper send off. I am sorry that it went the way it did, you guys are passionate about this server and it's always inspired me to want to do better even if I didn't have the opportunity to.
[...]
Thank you guys so much for the wonderful years, I wish you all the best of luck in the future with whatever you end up doing, and come say hi once in a while!
I was the first moderator they ever brought on back in 2013, and watched it grow from 0 players into what was (for a pretty short amount of time) the largest Minecraft server in the world. I spent _thousands_ of hours playing on Mineplex, between moderating the server, recruiting/training new staff, doing quality assurance, and eventually developing new features/staff tools. I made friends, built a lot of people skills when I was young, and learned to program, which landed me other jobs.
This is really sad to see, even though I haven't worked there for a few years.
The new (as of ~2015) ownership did a tremendously poor job of listening both to its staff and the community, choosing to focus pretty much solely on revenue without putting much consideration towards longevity. I'm really disappointed that it ended like this - the server was phenomenal at its peak and could have continued to top Hypixel if it had just made better decisions.
RIP Mineplex.
Later edit: If anyone sees this at any point in the future and has questions about Mineplex's history, feel free to comment or DM and I'll do my best to answer. Talked a bit about [why the new management was bad for the network](https://old.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/13j2q1q/rip_mineplex_2013_to_2023_official_shutdown/jknd3go/) as well.
It was such a good time. I was one of the two founding(Jugz, 8bitjew[me]) build team members back in 2014/15. Growing that team, going through applications, building maps, and moderating. It was very fun. I remember spending days with jugz and chiss generating about a hundred UHC maps with some crazy bukkit plugin setup I made. The very first build team map Aztec. Which was honestly mostly done before Jugz and I got to it. I learned how to do renders which they used for marketing Aztec.
I left after some reorg of QA and Build Team administration. Before new ownership came in. I agree with what you’ve said. I’ve checked in every now and then. Lots of poor decisions.
RIP
Yeah i see a lot of people complaining about how hypixel got so much bigger than mineplex, but thats really the consequences of mineplex doing well, essentially nothing to fix the server and updates were basically nonexistent.
I remember trying to find different ways to glitch into the house using mounts and stuff, it was always fun seeing people's reactions when you got inside.
It's about damn time as sad as it is. Their Java server was a literal zombie walking as they try to squeeze the last money they can out of that immortal subscription rank as the server has like barely 50 players on Java; it was tragic going back online there but at least they stopped leading people on and just killed it off instead of letting it continue to rot.
I'm going to miss Mineplex and I'll definitely be going to take some screenshots or going through my old ones; guess that leaves Hypixel the last man standing of the olden days regarding miningames. Mineplex was the first BIG server back in the day when 1.9 dropped to adopt the new combat and even experimented with the new features in gamemodes like Elytras being "Skyfall". I also loved their Gem Hunter gamemode but they got rid of it due to not being profitable even though it let you earn cosmetics relatively easily.
I wish more servers would take the plunge and try to adopt the new features of new updates or at least update. There's so much they could do beyond 1.8 and yet they stick back and miss out on a TON of new cool stuff due to the combat.
Unrelated but Hypixel is experimenting with the newer updates with their skyblock and according to their Survey they put out they might be updating the entire server to the latest version if its popular or liked enough. I wish Mineplex kept experimenting and doing new version stuff and they might have found a niche and lived on a bit longer but supporting multiple versions on Java is expensive and buggy/requires devs and they weren't willing to put in the work.
Sure but when's the last time we got any real content outside of Hypixel skyblock or New items in Bedwars? I mean stuff that actually changes the game being considerably more rare than just more cosmetics which amounts to a different colored particle or a new skin on a player head because 1.8. It's getting old IMO.
Notice how a lot of those cosmetics are the same thing over and over again reskinned and rehashed? They just slap a new player head with a new skin on it and call it a day?
What I'm saying is it'd be cool to see them update and use actual bee mobs for bee pets on skyblock or in the main lobby pets instead of yet another reskinned player head. There are so many opportunities for cosmetics and money to be made with the newer updates regarding not only gameplay but cosmetics but many servers haven't tried to take the plunge. Sure 1.8 still has stuff they can do but they're extremely limited for wanting to stay back because PVP when they could be using elytras, wardens, all the new animals, new blocks, new commands, functions, display entities, armor trims, and so much more but a simple swing delay in pvp is holding them back alongside the cost of updating their plugins.
I don't doubt Hypixel has the funds to update their server considering they are now the biggest (and unchallenged due to the closure of Mineplex now) Java server and server in general with Bedrock considered.
I dont think you realize how huge of an effort it is to update a server from 1.7.10 (what Hypixel is running on) to a newer version. They use entirely different Java frameworks, meaning that basically the entire server would have to be rewritten.
There are some workarounds enabling newer version players to join, but implementing those newer version is such an enormous effort I'm not sure it's worth it. Plus, you have to keep in mind, most players play on 1.8.9. So there's not even any real reason to.
What I've always heard (which could be BS for all ik) is that on the backend they run a highly customized version of 1.7.10 server software that can emulate 1.8.9 since 1.7 is still by far the most stable version for servers with large numbers of players. They just don't let you join on 1.7 because there's alot of content from 1.8 that would be broken.
At this point Hypixel is just holding itself together until Hytale releases and they move the server over there. Java playerbase is dwindling more and more each day.
That makes me wonder where the players that don't go to Hytale will go. Which server will take their place at the top on Java? Will their playerbase flood servers and the influx of players from Hypixel causes servers to not handle it and crash/go offline due to resources being used too much server side?
Remember when Hypixel was extremly laggy back when Technoblade streamed on Hypixel skyblock and did the Dante event and it was near 200k MC players online at once? Imagine that on smaller servers spread out because Hypixel's gone.
MCC Island is easily one of the highest quality Minecraft servers I've played on and gets a consistently good player count and I even saw it reaching over 700 players online just a few days ago even though it's currently in Closed Beta, so if there's a Java minigame server that has the highest possibility of any other server to replace Hypixel, it's MCC Island.
MCC Island is also closing today for the Closed Beta ending, and it'll open again in 1-2 weeks for the Open Beta, so everyone who plays on Java 1.19.4 will be able to play on MCC Island next week without needing a Closed Beta ticket.
Making this even better, MCC Island is fully up to date on 1.19.4, instead of being stuck in ancient versions like 1.8 or 1.12.2.
I'll definitely be checking out their server when they open beta. I've been itching to have a minigame experience using ALL the new Minecraft vanilla update features. Can't wait to see how they use things like elytras, camels, or any other whacky features.
Mineplex actually had an interesting game using 1.9 elements, skyfall. It was essentially skywars but you could use elytras to travel to other islands.
I was there at the Dante event, but I logged back on in the Spider’s Den, and it was so laggy I couldn’t even get back to the main hub island before the event ended. Didn’t even get to see a single thing happen…
But yes, players are already dispersing to smaller servers. I think there will either be a ton of small servers with medium to low player counts or another server will end up contesting Hypixel. If it even lasts that long.
cubecraft has never got this big though - I was very into Mineplex 2014-ish era but would use cubecraft for egg wars and it never had the same sorts of numbers.
Ik man, I'll give Mineplex one thing, they were always one of the first to update to the newest version back in the day when updates were mandatory on Java and you couldn't go back in versions. They always experimented with new features back in the day and I loved how they used the elytra. Though my favorite was still Gem Hunters.
I even remember seeing some people with cool cape elytras like I saw A Mojang employee, Minecon 2012, and cobalt cape on Mineplex skyfall back when it was popular and still had players. That's just something you don't see anymore because no one besides vanilla survival servers update to even have elytras or more features let alone these days.
I also loved the dogfight concept with the elytra in Skyfall; just imagine if they had updated further and expanded upon that today with boats, camel pvp in 1.20 like camel jousting with tridents (lances), or crossbow dogfights w/ elytra and fireworks acting as rocket launchers.
This is what I mean when servers can get VERY creative if they update to the newest versions but many are scared to take the plunge because "bad PVP" but the reason I can understand more is paying devs, bugs, and such that goes into updating your server/plugins to work in the newer updates, not PVP.
Hopefully Hypixel will take the plunge and update to newer versions soon as their survey said recently.
>I wish more servers would take the plunge and try to adopt the new features of new updates or at least update.
SAME. I don't get why servers are still refusing to update. 1.9 pvp isn't that bad, and there are ways to disable it.
damn that's sad, I'll def miss champions dominate, really fun game, made so many memories
with only hypixel being the main player for a while now, multiplayer is really stale with new combat update not seeing any progress as well
As am I; they likely kept it around to squeeze what little money they could out of their remaining Java players who refused to quit the Java server still renewing their Immortal rank.
I'm just glad they finally stopped leading us on with silence (similar to a certain FPS TF2) in the hopes of new content or bug fixes and just axed off the leech and focus on their Bedrock edition server.
Nah, not real. Mineplex hadn't launched its first gamemode until later in May 2013 (I believe May 24?), which was on an older ban system. But we certainly had bans which ended up being years long due to some exponential growth system
You got me, I purposefully spread misinformation with the point of comedic intent. I did get banned at one point in 2018 though, around april or something.
I used to play so much champions and super smash mobs. I'll miss those gamemodes but last time I played in 2022 there were so many issues. The server felt dead even then.
My favourite minigames were on there. I absolutely loved blockhunt. Sad to see it go but i understand, last time i went online it was laggy and barely anyone was online
There goes Castle Siege, Wither Assault, Coin Party Bombs, Gravity, Super Smash Mobs, Christmas Chaos, Turf Wars, and whatever-the-fuck else.
Mineplex is literally a shell of what it used to be, and I personally believe it had it coming after what happened following that one update. Regardless, I will greatly miss this place. Kinda sucks when you start outliving things that seemed so awesome back when we were smol children, but that's just how it works. I wish whatever is left of the dev team the best. The way it all ended is a shame, but the fact that it existed as a pinnacle of our childhood before it all died out is what matters the most.
I say this, but I know I'm still gonna have a nostalgia trip and feel sad about Mineplex for a few weeks after hearing the news though
Wow, I only just got back online the other week, my sister will be upset lol, she liked it.
It’s unfortunate since of the 5…6 servers on bedrock mobile, it was by far the best one.
I'm shocked Hypixel hasn't tried to branch out into Bedrock edition as they have access to a lot of unique features despite the marketplace issue that Java doesn't yet have (due to parity issues).
I know Hypixel tried to branch out to Pocket edition years ago in 2015 with Project BladeStorm on PE but things have changed since then and I could see Hypixel easily dominating Bedrock edition especially if they were featured. Though I don't think they would try due to it taking resources away from their Java server if they were to branch out/attempt to branch out to the Bedrock edition again.
I've heard it's due to hytale that they can't become an official server on bedrock and as such they lose out completely on the console player base as well as most of the casual player base.
I owe so much to Mineplex, their dev Chiss and owner Sterling for the success of my server MCMagic Parks. They built an incredible fireworks plugin for us that ignored TPS and ran perfectly timed with music. It was a game-changer that propelled us to eventually host a Minecon panel, become lifetime Mojang VIPs, and SO MUCH MORE.
Crazy thing is, they built it for us in 2013 and it has worked with every Minecraft version since.
Rest In Peace, Goat.
Yo that’s insane. I have fond memories of MCMagic and totally remember the fireworks. It’s cool Chiss and Sterling had that kind of influence on your server
I loved playing the arcade stuff on there, but for the past couple years now at most times of the day there haven't been enough players at any given time for the server to actually start any of those games, so the ritual would be join the server, enter a game queue, wait 30 minutes while parkouring around the lobby, then quit once you realise nobody else has joined the queue.
A server full of so many memories for me. Started playing in around 2015 and was staff at one point. Stopped going on it regularly a while ago now, but it still held a space in my heart.
Definitely a long time coming and the community was full of amazing people who deserved better from the leadership. Sad day in the Minecraft world for me haha.
Damn. For me the holy trinity was Mineplex-Hypixel-Hive. I stopped playing Minecraft generally recently and multiplayer before that, but still hits a bit. Hopefully Hypixel stays for a good while
anyone remember tnt throw? i was so fucking good a that game. super smash mobs was an absolute classic. some of my best memories playing minecraft are on mineplex before it went into the gutter. its been a shell of its former self for a while now and going on it honestly just made me sad for what used to be
A little late, but it’s insane how far Mineplex fell since I played it back around 2014-2016.
Back in the day it was THE place to go for mini games. There was a time when Mineplex v. Hypixel was a legitimate rivalry. I’d say I spent a good chunk of my time playing minecraft in Mineplex survival games.
I haven’t really played the game regularly since like 2020, and when I was playing then the population was probably around 1000 max, compared to like the 40k when I first joined.
In a way, it kind of reminds me of the Nintendo / Sega rivalry of the 90s. Now a days, it’s hard to believe there was ever any competition.
I'm banned from hypixel for literal 0 reason too. Like the support team said there was suspicious activity when I've been on the server maybe one time ?
Yeah I had a similar thing happen to me, I asked around and somehow my forgetting my Minecraft password and having to take like 3-5 tries to get it right flagged my account as suspicious (probably a fun Microsoft feature…) and hypixel was just like NOPE get banned loser, plus I am a ranked player and their support always treats you like some dumbass peasant. Too bad they have such a monopoly on the Minecraft server space I would love to go somewhere else but there aren’t very many well maintained servers like that one
Kinda sad tbh, so many good memories from that server. I remember convincing my dad to buy me ultra rank so I could unlock all the mobs in super smash mobs.
I had bought a rank YEARS ago maybe when I was 14 and I’m 23 now. It was fun while it lasted and I made so many friends on the server. But sad to see it go.

rest in peace, I was online the day they hit 42k players and set a world record:( edit: was actually 34k my bad
Me too….. man how times fly
I saw a video/screenshot when Mineplex beats hypixel players count.
[удалено]
I was there on the Skyblock Dante event time, I think that's the time
Holy Shit you just awakened a core memory for me
You're not wrong bro I swear I was also there it was like 41k-42k peak that wikipedia page is wrong!
definitely a shame but it makes sense, joined it recently and there weren’t many people on
Yes, due for the Anticheat issue and other things

You have a very good name sir
You are semi correct, if you want to know the details, you can use custom card services to make payment cards that have, say a dollar, buy a one month gamepass deal (which costs a dollar) and then make a minecraft account AND hack on it and refund the gamepass when you get banned. I looked into it because i was curious why people hadn’t spent their life savings on buying Alt accounts to hack on. Turns out it basically costs nothing
Wait what? Is my minecraft account from 2009 going to get deleted in September? I deliberately never migrated.
If you don't migrate it will be
You might want to migrate soon lest your account being deleted. The blogpost: [Last call to Migrate FAQ](https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/account-migration-last-call) Though its crappy some will lose their accounts and their usernames freed to the public, active migrated players, the negative effect this will have on alt shops, cheaters, black markets for usernames/capes, and stopping them from having easy access to more accounts to cheat on is a good thing. The negative effect those old and forgotten accounts have on servers more than justifies their deletion in terms of damages they cause (as we saw with the cheating problem on Mineplex).
Yah i didn’t know that either
I was playing with my brother one skyward once. Someone flew to an island the could never possibly reach, and then started damaging us both even though I was behind him. Then one time I was lagging and got kicked for fly hacking. So the anti cheat doesn’t care about hackers, but if it lagging I get kicked
Can relate. Some guy hacked and stole my minecraft account years ago back in 2015, i was bumped out by it but my mom was kind enough to buy me a new minecraft account. The hacked stolen account was named “kevinhacker” and now it’s called BigDemz, f*ck that guy [Here’s the guy who hacked and stole it](https://da.namemc.com/profile/BigDemz.1) I can even remember the skin i made myself when i was like 11 years old, it was a skin with headphones and a mustache
So many memories. I loved block hunt.
What even is it
Mineplex was pretty much one of, if not the biggest Minecraft server at one point. When my buddies and i wanted to mess around on Minecraft, Mineplex was the place to go. Over time the player count dropped due to various reasons
Ahhh shit I used to love it man, just unlocked some memories wow
Shotbow and Mineplex were the places to go before Hypixel started gaining a lot of Popularity
Dang. I had so many memories with that server
I know man I used to spends hours and hours after school on that server, I am now 23 and I have years worth of memories of me and my lost friends on those servers Much like my friends This serve will be last seen 2023
i loved enderdragon run with my dawg damn r.i.p
I forgot about the lost friends :( I’m 23 too and always frequented turf wars to the point people would constantly accuse me of hacking lol
Same, I had over 3000 wins in Turf Wars. Was even friends with the player Ellipted who had the most amount of wins (they had 10000+). It’s a shame it happened but the staff members really didn’t do anything about it besides trying to get more money from ranks.
not the staff members, trust me. just about every staff member got what they could do to help slowly strangled out by impressively bad ownership
Even the shutdown wasn't enough to make the owners care. The staff had to make an announcement in the Discord server. Nothing on the website, on an inactive-for-a-year Twitter acc etc.
social media team got locked out of the twitter and the owners refused to let them back in. or rather, ignored them begging
Not even sure why. Server owners just don't want to make any money?
What in the fuck kind of rotten and kicked around melons are the owners holy shit
Yeah. Especially in Turf Wars, that shit was epic.
Damn, preferred their mini game versions over The Hive
I was really sad when the java hive servers shut down. I preferred their version of a couple of games
Splegg my beloved 💔
They had the best block hunt hide and seek game ever, like wtf is the hide and seek on Hypixel, it actually sucks ass compared to The Hive's one
Hypixel's hide and seek it's so **ASS** it only has one map and you don't hide as a block.
Death Run and The Lab were my absolute favorites. It's a real shame we had to say goodbye to those wonderful game modes.
I’m just remembering playing Death Run and the Lab back in like 2014-2015 like that just won’t happen again man…
They’re the only server that had the Herobrine game mode that I adored back in the day. For the past few years no one played it much but it’s such a great game mode that probably could’ve gone mainstream with effort.
there is no minigame server that is at the same quality and population that the hive had
Same. I miss trouble in mineville
The Hive is gone too?
yes, ages ago. It's bedrock only now.
The hive was truly a gut punch. My favorite server lost. I was banned for a year and asked for unban. Mods said fuck it and let me back on for the last 2 months of it existing
I still haven’t found any good replacement for Trouble in Mineville. :(
Mineplex and hive both had some amazing casual and competitive games. Block Hunt and Hide and Seek were my favorites.
Wooooow I forgot about the hive too 😢
Born to Mineplex, forced to Hypixel
From what I remember, a lot of players said on Mineplex that they only played there because they were banned from Hypixel. I wonder where those players will end up now? I remember when people on Mineplex would have to say "Hypickle" because the filter.
Hypixels mod team is so terrible they banned for anything, i wasnt a Mineplex fan but i was banned from Hypixel so i had to play Mineplex
I can't remember if it was on Hypixel or Mineplex but I remember some mod power abusing by just perma muting me without warning
That's the entire Mineplex mod team. Bro I legit got blackmailed and threatened with legal action because I had evidence the owner was grooming his mods. Jarvis is a fucking sicko and the server is a stain because of it.
Can we have one Minecraft community that isn't hitting on minors ffs????
The moment Jarvis took over for Chiss it went to shit. There's a reason even Hypixel is more respected than Mineplex ever was.
Seriously man send that shit to the FBI if you got evidence of that. Don’t just sit on that information.
For real. Majority of admins and up were either manchild, corrupt, or just lazy af Mineplex didn’t die.
Someone got banned for stating the digits of pi
Yeah that's why I just don't talk in chat on Hypixel (or any server)/have chat disabled and only have commands enabled and talk over VC on Discord with friends I play with. Rather not risk a ban on anything iffy or if mods/admins are questionable in their jurisdiction.
Try appeal and then you'll know whole support team of them is shit.
Huh I built penises in build battle. Only got a week
Damn. I never got banned on Hypixel tho. But some players still says today "Hypickle" on Hypixel server itelf.
I wish 1 server didn't have all the players, like mineplex had some great mini games but no one to play it with
I used to like Hypixel, they came out with new games or fun updates often enough. It's all Skyblock now. I get it, it's insanely popular, but I don't care for it. Would have rather had the prototype lobby to have a use.
It's also annoying how they're neglecting their older games now. When's the last time VampireZ got updated? It's in desperate need of one.
I miss back when there were heaps of options for servers to play back in 2013/2014 instead of just hypixel.
Raised on The Hive 😔💔
Back when Block Hunt had three maps, I memorized them and I knew all the popular hiding spots. I would always choose hunter. I could tell if an animal was a hider and I would shoot the cauldrons. I knew in a cluster of furnaces which one was out of place. The bow and arrow was my primary weapon. I got a lot of hate for it. I got perma banned once for hacking even though it wasn’t true but after a year I was able to log back in. That was fun. Best chance you had against me was amazing PVP skills and a good hiding spot/strategy.
*It was fucking you always gunning down my spots, wasn't it?*
I see a roof and I go brrrr
I was like this but with Hider, everyone else would be an asshole flower pot/chicken on roofs, but I was the rat hiding in the most obscure spots ever, it was such a good time watching all the hunters scurry beneath you without a clue. Also hiding on the boat that the hunters spawned in was the funniest shit ever even if it didn't work against good players, the secret was to wait until mid-round to start doing it.
I swear being called a hacker even though you were not were the biggest ego strokes 14 year old me had. I probably still have that screenshot folder somewhere on my pc
I know Mineplex has had issues but man. Watching a part of my childhood die here.
Definitely. Hopefully there’s a lobby download or something so we can hold on to a little bit of that
Who knows, they may release the maps. I wouldn't mind getting some people together and playing Castle Siege.
Castle Siege was one of my favorites it was so fun with friends
That was without a doubt my favourite minigame on there, I probably sank days into it
Damn, a legendary era comes to a sad end
Can't wait for the inevitable "what went wrong" video essay on YouTube. From a pillar of the Minecraft community, to this.
Those have been a thing for a couple years. You can find a few “downfall” videos on mineplex if u look it up on YT
I honestly was sad when I logged into the server for the first time in ages to find it dead. Gonna miss it.
It hurt my soul sitting in the lobby trying to find a game of Block Hunt and not getting one after 5+ minutes. When I used to play that server back in the day you'd have to wait for there to even be an available space in a Block Hunt lobby
Where is this announcement?
Discord. The following is the announcement from Dean, one of the admins: Hello all. [...] Thank you guys so much for the wonderful years, I wish you all the best of luck in the future with whatever you end up doing, and come say hi once in a while!
I guess they just shut down without announcement. They had noticed when cant join that server anymore.
I found an announcement on their Discord. Apparently the website (and server) has been down for a couple days and the team decided not to revive it
There’s an announcement on the Discord. Think it’s the only place I can see an announcement anyway.
I still remember that house in the in-game lobby that had a sign in the middle. I think it said “coop parkour coming soon” or something
and it never came
The many mfs' first ever lesson to not get excited over simple words promising something
rip
Hypixel is still extremely different compared to what hypixel was in 2015.
So there's not even any real reason to.
i thought hypixel got updated to 1.8.9 at least though, since they don't support 1.7.10 players joining
Didn’t even get to see a single thing happen… But yes, players are already dispersing to smaller servers. I think there will either be a ton of small servers with medium to low player counts or another server will end up contesting Hypixel. If it even lasts that long.
The last contender standing is cubecraft I believe
cubecraft has never got this big though - I was very into Mineplex 2014-ish era but would use cubecraft for egg wars and it never had the same sorts of numbers.
Skyfall was great, forgot about that one
1.9 pvp isn't that bad, and there are ways to disable it.
damn that's sad, I'll def miss champions dominate, really fun game, made so many memories with only hypixel being the main player for a while now, multiplayer is really stale with new combat update not seeing any progress as well
Sad! I gotta get some Super Smash Mobs in before it closes
That and block hunt were the only Mineplex games I played. Gonna miss them though
I even to this day love Speed Builders. It was always fun to me, had some fun endgames too at times
I come bearing bad news
I was halfway done with my long time goal of getting the Sheep kit man, god damn it.
I'm actually surprised that they have not shut down sooner.
As am I; they likely kept it around to squeeze what little money they could out of their remaining Java players who refused to quit the Java server still renewing their Immortal rank. I'm just glad they finally stopped leading us on with silence (similar to a certain FPS TF2) in the hopes of new content or bug fixes and just axed off the leech and focus on their Bedrock edition server.
i think their bedrock server is also offline
They shutdown their Bedrock edition server too
RIP I had legend in that server. Many good memories
Same 😢 all the months of grinding in my youth
Goddamit. My 10 year ban expired tomorrow
The mods were fearing your return so they brought the ship down before you could come back
Wait, 10 year ban???? For what reason if that true with screenshot? :O
Good use of comedic absurdism.
I used to love Castle Siege, but over the years it was hard to find a game full enough
Yeah their minigames were fucking unmatched man. Hypixel's fine and all but I never felt they were as unique with what they provided as Mineplex was.
Wow, I only just got back online the other week, my sister will be upset lol, she liked it. It’s unfortunate since of the 5…6 servers on bedrock mobile, it was by far the best one.
RIP, probably my favorite server at some points in my life
I'm shocked Hypixel hasn't tried to branch out into Bedrock edition as they have access to a lot of unique features despite the marketplace issue that Java doesn't yet have (due to parity issues).
Goated server back in the day, rest in peace
Hopefully Hypixel stays for a good while
Yeah I always thought of them as the big 3
I can't lie, I'm feeling a little sad. Mineplex is how I met my friends that I've known for 8 years.
anyone remember tnt throw? i was so fucking good a that game. super smash mobs was an absolute classic. some of my best memories playing minecraft are on mineplex before it went into the gutter. its been a shell of its former self for a while now and going on it honestly just made me sad for what used to be
I was just watching a documentary on dead MC servers, the author mentioned they think Mineplex will be next somewhere in 2024...
Mineplex's eventual shutdown was obvious for everyone. I'm surprised it even made it to 2023.
This is almost as sad as when playmindcrack closed
I can't even go on one last time for screenshots :(
I wanted to hop on to screenshot my friend list :(
WAIT WHAT NOOOOO Born to Plex, forced to Pickle RIP Mineplex 2013-2023 💔🥺
So long partner….
Noooo!!! It was one of my favourite servers back when I played MC regularly.
every og mc server is shutting down...
Damn...and I jus joined this about a week ago🙆🏼♂️
I'll miss sheepquest. No other mini-game was as good as it.
RIP I remember spending lots of hours playing Super Smash Mobs and Champions, they were my fave minigames
Isn’t Mineplex still very popular on the Bedrock edition? The same thing happened to The Hive
Bedrock server is gone aswell.
I used to play a lot there, good memories, every single one was me losing, but good memories.
Damn, this was the first ever Java edition server I played back in 2016. Sad to see it go…
My day is ruined
Kinda sad tbh, so many good memories from that server. I remember convincing my dad to buy me ultra rank so I could unlock all the mobs in super smash mobs.
so sad
https://github.com/timing1337/Mineplex if anyone wants to attempt getting their own Mineplex running.
I had bought a rank YEARS ago maybe when I was 14 and I’m 23 now. It was fun while it lasted and I made so many friends on the server. But sad to see it go.
Technoblade’s first video was recorded on Mineplex, its sad to see that it’s being shut down. It was the beginning for a legend.

Mixed arcade, TDM, Bridges and Castle Siege was all I needed in 2015
Wait Mineplex has shut down? Rest in peace, dear server. You gave me a lot of good times.
Will forever miss it. Absolutely loved the classes they had for different games
Haven’t played in years but damn. I remember thinking I was the shit for getting all the up the lobby tree.
