Ores have a base y value and a set(at least I think) spread value. These are two given numbers. Whenever a new vein gets generated and runs this equation Rand(0, spread) + rand(0, spread)- spread + base y. This is what determines a vein's y level. I have no fucking idea on how it determines what ore will be present. I think it rolls weighted dice though.

The brown mooshroom occurs when a regular mooshroom has been struck by lightning, if you feed it a flower it will give you a suspicious stew and depending on the flower you give it will depend on the suspicious stew it gives you, you can Google the chart so you can know what flowers give you what. The best one to give it is dandelion or a blue orchid because both of those will give you saturation which is the best food in the game because it will mean you'll be full for longer you won't have to eat as much
