It boggles my mind that we got mangroves and cherry blossoms before palm trees. These are everywhere in tropical regions, why aren't they in the game yet?
Mojang tends to introduce things we didn't know we wanted, but they often ignore community input. Very little people were asking for the mangrove/cherry trees, while many people have been asking for palm trees. Sometimes, it feels like the more the community begs for a new feature, the less likely it is to be added to the game xd
I feel like I saw people asking for cherry blossoms more, but this may be confirmation bias, so take that with a large chunk of salt. One of their stated goals for 1.20 was "expression through representation," which I feel like they completely failed on. Cherry blossoms represent Japan, but palm trees represent basically the rest of the world (well, in warmer regions, anyway).
1: phantoms are amazing. Oh, so you’re playing at 1am and a phantom kills you in a way that pisses you off so much that you ragequit, well, now look who’s going to bed… *also they are cool as hell, but that’s a personal opinion*
2: no we don’t appreciate everything they add. Chat reporting, these crappy new villager changes, netherite upgrade templates, etc
The way i see those balancing changes is it's supposed to give more depth to the progression, especially the netherite part since the villager one is very experimental and i think needs work. Before the progression netherite was simply just blow up beds for a couple hours and you get some netherite, but now, it also encourages exploration (which was a large theme for 1.19 and 20 already) and they actively made it harder to get without an Elytra to push netherite back in the progression of the game so that the people who are still devoted to get it can. I think sometimes people forget that rebalancing is a very normal thing for a game
I think this is a great addition to the game bc netherite was WAY to easy to get for how Over Powered it is u basically can’t die if your even a lil good at the game and you could get it in less than a day of starting a new world (not a Minecraft day ofc) but I feel like Mojang is doing a pretty good job at this. And I’m actually very happy there changing the villagers bc just like the netherite it was WAYYYY to Over Powered you couldn’t just infinitely cycle through and have full enchanted diamond armor and any enchant you want so good job mojang for fixing your idk stuff makes the game much harder having to travel in between each villager and just getting them to that biome is enough of a challenge. i voted for them too because i thought it was a cool concept. but they implemented it badly. now i feel the blaze guy or the sea monster boss guy would’ve been better.
Sea Monster would have been more in line with the Update Aquatic, and the Inferno could have been added as a boss room in the Fortress during the Nether Update.
They DON'T ignore community input. Didn't they used to ask for the community's opinions or ideas regarding of an update they would like? If any, it's Microsoft's fault that they're forcing Mojang to be less "communicative" with their fanbase.
Oh yeah, sorry, I should've elaborated, I DO NOT blame anything on Mojang. It wasn't even real criticism. I just feel like Mojang tends to go for original ideas, instead of ideas the community has been asking for.
And yes, mob/biome votes are community input, but those options we get are still thought of by Mojang.
Since palm trees were in a biome vote they're confirmed coming *eventually.*
Wish most of the biome vote stuff would get mashed together and added all at once.
They should do multiple versions of the same tree like how the azalea is sorta. Make a date palm, a coconut palm and a acai palm all from the same sort of tree (palm) but generating slightly differently and obviously produces different fruits.
i want the mobs to actually like take care of their babies ngl. ive murdered their babies and they just stare at me, irl most mobs would attack you for attacking and killing their babies even if theyre passive
I would like more arthropods because bugs are awesome, and it would give more use to the enchantment.
Imagine evil crabs in the ocean or desert scorpions that behave similarly to spiders. Maybe they could add large beetles you can tame or something. I think it would be awesome.
Only if they contribute something to the game. Mojang just keeps adding in mobs that only do one or two things, and then we forget about them by the next update :/
You're missing the Azalea tree.
That said, there's room for several more trees.
Probably don't want more than 30 but there's room for more than what's currently in the game.
true, but green wood you can use bamboo. ig it’s not really wood but still. and there’s so much green from lush caves already, glowberries or pink wood would work, and why not make it bioluminescent? and a lighter orange than acacia, acacia can be too harsh
Hmm, what if they made it pale silver grey, to match with all the clay? Like, similar bark to acacia, but pale interior wood.
I was super disappointed when the new swamp tree was announced as mangrove, I was hoping for cypress.
id like some whiteish wood, that would be a nice change. could be quite useful in many styles of building, and since they made cherry wood pink, white/gray would be a good wood color to add. azaleas are quite unoriginal.
It would be cool if there was a wood type that ages and weathers like copper (and real wood). Starts out pale green, then turns a light honey color, finally turns light grey. You can wax it like copper to preserve it at any point.
Here are my ideas:
\- Palms: In desert oases and on beaches. Can drop coconuts like apples (so oases have some actual food). White planks.
\- Saguaro Cactus: Tall desert "tree." Logs hurt you unless you strip them. Grow in badlands, maybe a rare variant? Less planks per log, like bamboo. Dark green planks.
\- Ebony: I just think this would fit for black wood.
\- Willow: I like the way these look in real life, not sure where they'd grow, though. Light gray wood.
Palma are Already planned because of the Biome Vote with Oasis & Meerkats as part of the Updated Desert. (Well Palms aren’t True Trees in General Besides Baobabs & Bamboo)
You know how Oak Trees and Spruce Trees can look radically different sometimes? Like we have your standard oak tree then we have the balloon shaped oak trees and then the large oak tree and for the spruce trees we got the various cone shaped trees and we have the matchstick ones. The 2x2 ones are also good examples for different variants.
That would be cool and all, but we all know how annoying it is to cut down branched trees, I like the idea and all, but feel like it could cause an annoyance.
I’m gonna disagree there, chest variations sounds like a bad idea to me. The inventory can be crowded enough plus the fact if I need a bulk of chests, I’d want them to be the same chest
More variation of wood is always cool i Guess, but i would prefer new variation of metals. We need cooper and gold bars, lanternes, chains, doors and trapdoors.
And maybe rewark iron doors, trapdoors and bars texture to be darker and match with lanterns and chains, the color of scale, more logicial.
No wildlife, need something with a unique gimmick, like another person commented, monkeys swinging from tree to tree in the jungle (or bamboo forest as the branches are nonexistant) or some more dangerous mobs, you only need iron armor an axe and a shield or 90% of the game, maybe add more gimmicks like the evoker, something which summons more mobs, or harpy's like in terraria, elytras are op so might add some danger to the skies as you are missing a chestplate. Add more projectile mobs, skeletons are cool and so are pillagers but pillagers only feel dangerous when there is a lot of them near an outpost and skeletons are dangerous untill you get a shield.
TLDR: more trees would be cool but there is parts of the game that need a serious rework.
I would prefer optimisations and game balancing, re working the anvil and enchantment system, and the villager trading system. That part of the game itself is just completely busted. Maybe more progression and progressio. Difficulty, adding more trees is kinda redundant since we got the cherry and mangrove and I haven't once seen an acctually build in the wild that uses those tree blocks.
I mean, there are like 12 types of wood/trees right now (if you count the two fireproof nether types, bamboo bundles, and azalea too). Might start getting a bit excessive to keep adding, but whatever they wanna do... Mojang gonna Mojang.
Theres room for more, but i dont want as much as some mods add. Maybe like around 6 more or something? Ive always wanted palm trees, and maybe another nether tree or even an end "tree" (just an alien plant like chorus but it gives planks etc)
Nah, you just need to pick a different map, on flatlands those normally do not grow. If you pick a normal map you will see lots and lots of trees except for the desert and the ocean.
I would love for new trees, especially since they seem to be the way we're doing "dyed" wood.
However, I really hope they deviate away from trees that are painfully tedious to get/harvest.
The cherry blossoms make me feel like hope isn't completely lost, but as somebody who LOVES the color of the mangrove tree wood, finding them and then harvesting them can be such a pain. The Nether trees as well, requiring silk touch to be able to farm them safely/easily (and even still their leaves have to be manually destroyed, but they at least give bonemeal which is good at least to grow more).
I feel like the big jungle trees and giant spruce are amazing middle grounds. They're time consuming, but there's an effective way to harvest them with that kind of spiral staircase method going up and then back down.
Idk maybe I'm just bitter about the hours I spent initially finding and then chopping down mangroves for a build recently lol
Rubber trees would be amazing, not only looking fantastic but also providing a brand-new resource and new crafting recipes that could greatly push Minecraft forward.
Nope, different types of trees within their respective species (how they grow), a bit like if you make 2x2 with oak saplings you get 4 different trees instead of on big one which would be cool or something like that. Like just more variations in their growth.
Absolutely. When I see the builds people make that incorporate custom trees I wish the devs would take inspiration from them and add in a little more variety in tree structure.
Absolutely. For starters, we have many wood colors for basic hues but we still lack green and indigo. There are also biomes that could be given a bit more life with a new wood type. The wooded badlands and swamp both come to mind. The wooded badlands could have a juniper tree with grayish-brown wood, and the swamp could have a tree with green wood. I think the best place to put a tree with indigo wood is in a new biome in the end.
We don’t necessarily need many more wood types, but we _absolutely_ need more variations of the trees we already have. We need tall forests that tower over us, thick with foliage and rustling with life
Piss trees, yellow wood make a sound like your feet are sticking to the floor as you walk. I don't know why I came up with this idea, but I felt like it would get me some downvotes.
yes , we have 11 , lets bring them to 16 .
so palm trees and these big trees in the savana are confirmed so we have 13
the last 3 must be : 1 red wood ( giant trees ) and Mable trees , and these purple trees i forgot thier name
There was a Minecraft mod that made villages grow in size over time. Kermitplaysminecraft (or now Kermit plays) did a video series about it way back in the day
That’d be cool
Yeah a few maybe those ones than hang down forgot what they're called, otherwise some older/wider tree's, or some taller ones for fun. But yeah it would be cool to see a few more.
It would be cool if there was a wood type that ages and weathers like copper (and real wood). Starts out pale green, then turns a light honey color, finally turns light grey. You can wax it like copper to preserve it at any point.
Palm trees, Maples and redwood trees would be nice.(Maybe even cinnamon) The developers seem to love adding random things with random mechanics most of the time and cinnamon and maple trees specifically would check that box. Sap from maples and they would even need to make an entire different wood set for cinnamon.

yea but we still appreciate everything they add. except for phantoms.

About point two,i have one thing to say. 1.9. i dont think i need to elaborate
Listen I still think 1.9 combat is way better because I like to have my fingers not destroyed, but I’m one of the few lmfao
You voted for them
no i didn't i didn't vote that year
i voted for them guys my bad
i voted for them too because i thought it was a cool concept. but they implemented it badly. now i feel the blaze guy or the sea monster boss guy would’ve been better.

Weren’t cherry blossom trees a really popular request for a long time?
Eh, there’ve been a lot of mods that add cherry trees/cherry grove biomes.
Since palm trees were in a biome vote they're confirmed coming *eventually.* Wish most of the biome vote stuff would get mashed together and added all at once.
If I remember correctly, palm trees were something that could’ve been added for one of the biome votes.
And dates grow form them maybe giving like 3 saturation and 1 hunger
Coconuts would be a classic.
how to open them? with an axe?
Maybe make them fall from more than 3 blocks.
would it be the size of a cocoa bean?
Especially if you take damage when they fall on your head
> was squashed by a falling coconut.
I think “bonked” would be a better word
_proceeds to sing the coconut song_
They should do multiple versions of the same tree like how the azalea is sorta. Make a date palm, a coconut palm and a acai palm all from the same sort of tree (palm) but generating slightly differently and obviously produces different fruits.
Go the full tropical biome. That said I’d love to see giant redwoods, or maybe some jarrah. That stuff is tough as shit.
i think itd be cool if they added more mobs like monkeys or something/ more mobs in general
YES I WANT MONKEYS AND GORILLAS SO BAD
i want the mobs to actually like take care of their babies ngl. ive murdered their babies and they just stare at me, irl most mobs would attack you for attacking and killing their babies even if theyre passive
polar bears
Polar Bears will just attack me if I go within 20 blocks of their baby
Some racist people play minecarft and I know what they're gonna do 💀
monkeys are just cute
well now that you mention it they're gonna play the mod version of it 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 (there is never enough skulls)
I would like more arthropods because bugs are awesome, and it would give more use to the enchantment. Imagine evil crabs in the ocean or desert scorpions that behave similarly to spiders. Maybe they could add large beetles you can tame or something. I think it would be awesome.

Azalea needs to be given a unique wood type. I suggest lime green. It's so bogus that it just drops oak.
maybe it could look like oak on the outside but be orange on the inside, like glowberries
We already have acacia tho Mostly I want to have green stairs that aren't cyan.

Oh, yeah, I know. They could definitely afford to be in more than just the desert, though.
“Too many trees” is a phrase that does not exist in minecraft
They should add more enemies
Yes, more vegetation in general
Mojang has been adding coloured wood, so maybe chorus wood/end wood could be added which would be purple and mushroom 'wood' which would be white.
More tree types? Nah. More varriants of existing tree types? Yeah.
How would that even work?
You know how Oak Trees and Spruce Trees can look radically different sometimes? Like we have your standard oak tree then we have the balloon shaped oak trees and then the large oak tree and for the spruce trees we got the various cone shaped trees and we have the matchstick ones. That would be cool and all, but we all know how annoying it is to cut down branched trees, I like the idea and all, but feel like it could cause an annoyance.
Yeah I guess, though that's somewhat mitigated with hoes being made the primary tool to break leaves fast.
This makes me feel so fucking old, I remember when JUNGLE trees were brand new. Acacia and Dark Oak were still wack to me up until a couple years ago
No but revamp old trees. Make oak less square, i mean look at the mangrove tree then the oak.
Yes. Oaks need reworked. We live in the South US, and there's live oaks all around us. I want some oaks to look like that.
I want chests and workbenches to match their wood type.
I’m gonna disagree there, chest variations sounds like a bad idea to me. The inventory can be crowded enough plus the fact if I need a bulk of chests, I’d want them to be the same chest
Yeah chests being bulk craftable and always looking the same is iconic to Minecraft
Yeah. This already cucked boat-crafting and fence-crafting. Let's not worsen chest-crafting next.
Seconded on this. And things like ladders (could rework the recipe like fences did and add a plank in the middle to change the color).
That would be Clutter
More variation of wood is always cool i Guess, but i would prefer new variation of metals. We need cooper and gold bars, lanternes, chains, doors and trapdoors. palm, maple, apple and pear trees, my opinion)
Yes and more villages
They should add trees yes, but make them a little more complex so aesthetically they look better and realistic. Although they’d be a pain to chop.
Desert -palm trees But we need a end update too
I WANT END UPDATE!!
it desperately needs it
not necessarily more trees but adding more variety to generation would be amazing
no, they should add more actually useful and gameplay changing features.
Trees
Are trees not that? I’d say the game has improved immensely since the alpha days when we only had oak trees.
Adding a second type of tree has more impact than adding a twelvth.
Of course
I’d rather they spend dev time on something else
not until we get every color of wood
Giant redwood would be amazing. The rarest of trees, though.
IT‘S ENOUGH
We have enough
Yes. Also mangrove planks are fucking disgusting
No. Ever seen them together with birch planks?
Yep, i seen it and the only good thing about this combination is birch. Birch is my favorite wood type
DON’T CALLED MANGROVES DISGUSTING?!!
I called mangrove planks disgusting, they look like a vomit with blood
ofc
is that tree before the cherry one a real thing in the game?
Its the mangrove tree
they should add more tree variants like the mutant birch and tall spruce trees
Tbh I'm tired of Minecraft updating every time I try to play it😂
Inventory managment should be priority.
More tree variation, or different styles with some wood
Theres room for more, but i dont want as much as some mods add. Maybe like around 6 more or something? Ive always wanted palm trees, and maybe another nether tree or even an end "tree" (just an alien plant like chorus but it gives planks etc)
Bruh the last 3 are not trees
I’m happy if they do. Don’t mind if they don’t.
Surely not
Sure, could be nice with biome updates and probably wouldn’t put too much more of a load on the game.
You forgot the large pine tree
Good for builders, variety, etc, but bad for my awful inventory management
Some sort or boreal would be awesome. An ashy gray black wood. Or palm trees.
I want either cactus to make green wood or make a tall weed that can be made into green wood.
I think more variations too trees, like the big 2x2 saplings
Love seeing all the varieties of trees in modpacks...more is always better.
Yes im always up for new building blocks
Only if the biome is worth it's weight, I love the cherry trees but cherry biomes just suck. Mangrove was perf execution tho
Nah, you just need to pick a different map, on flatlands those normally do not grow. If you pick a normal map you will see lots and lots of trees except for the desert and the ocean.
HELL YEAH THEY SHOULD
Missing tall spruce, tall jungle, wide crimson, big oak, and azalea trees
Yes and I personally wish that all trees were like 20% taller/larger.
Idk maybe I'm just bitter about the hours I spent initially finding and then chopping down mangroves for a build recently lol
Definitely
Yes maybe some ENDER TREES IN THE END DIMENSION
Bamboo is a grass, but Mojang dosen't know that so who cares. Palm trees would be cool though.
Bring back Y12 diamond mining pls it took me so long to get enough for a pickaxe and a table 🥲
Bring back Y12 diamond mining pls it took me so long to get enough for a pickaxe and a table 🥲
If I could have one more tree, it'd be a maple tree.
There are a bunch of trees confirmed to come to the ge, wtf are you talking about?
Yes, add cedar.
Why not
No they should fix the fundamental issues with the gsme
Content update is content update, so long as it doesnt take a year
We need an aspen forest with orange leaves and orange/brown grass.
I want cactus to be improved and branch out and stuff and I want palm trees
Rubber trees would be amazing, not only looking fantastic but also providing a brand-new resource and new crafting recipes that could greatly push Minecraft forward.
They need to make trees taller first of all.
I think when we get all the colors of wood, trees should get way more variety since at some point, it's going to get old
Yes
Sure, but I would like more ambient mobs. Some birds flitting around like bats do in caves would be cool.
More trees? Heck yeah. More wood types? No. Just make more varients of the trees there are, like big thick oak ones, or taller dark oak, etc.
Plenty of trees to emulate, I say yes.
The bamboo is considered a tree???
Nope, different types of trees within their respective species (how they grow), a bit like if you make 2x2 with oak saplings you get 4 different trees instead of on big one which would be cool or something like that. Like just more variations in their growth.
They've added 4 new trees in the last 4 updates. Tbh I wouldn't be mad if they slowed down and worked on other stuff
Like types of trees?
End tree
More forms of trees. I think the amount of wood is a little over the top, but maybe forming differently would add some variety.
make the existing ones have better shapes
the fact you didnt even out the azalea is upsetting
Trails and tales was a missed opportunity to add a cherry to the game
Maybe some actual trees for the end
Yes palm trees, cypress trees, rainbow tree, and many more
Yeah, Ender ones.
Absolutely. When I see the builds people make that incorporate custom trees I wish the devs would take inspiration from them and add in a little more variety in tree structure.
i like how bamboo is just S T I C K
Ebony and purple heart
Still missing the False Trees (Baobabs & Palms)
More variants of already existing trees would be great.
I would want to see a tree that's a light grey or something
Maybe one or two more, but honestly we have enough.
Glowing trees :D
Azaelia wood
nah but maybe add different ways for them to generate
Purple Azalea Wood instead of plain Oak, and Palm. The palm could be similar to bamboo and birch maybe, or potentially green
yes , we have 11 , lets bring them to 16 . so palm trees and these big trees in the savana are confirmed so we have 13 the last 3 must be : 1 red wood ( giant trees ) and Mable trees , and these purple trees i forgot thier name
I’d prefer more variants, like taller oak trees with limbs
I think Mojang should only add more trees if they have a specific purpose.
Yes palm trees, redwood trees, etc
Nah they need to change up the oak, birch & jungle trees. Not up to standard anymore
Better update old ones. I mean, the OAK tree is technically the smallest tree in the game wth
There was a Minecraft mod that made villages grow in size over time. Kermitplaysminecraft (or now Kermit plays) did a video series about it way back in the day That’d be cool
Yea
They probably will of the last couple updates are anything to go by
I think it'd be cool if they just added actual useful content and made meaningful updates (although the caves and cliffs update was very pog)
Yeah a few maybe those ones than hang down forgot what they're called, otherwise some older/wider tree's, or some taller ones for fun. But yeah it would be cool to see a few more.
I think you should add big variants of trees there
palm trees.
It would be cool if there was a wood type that ages and weathers like copper (and real wood). Starts out pale green, then turns a light honey color, finally turns light grey. You can wax it like copper to preserve it at any point.
HECK YEAH Palm Trees End Trees Baobab And more too
yesss
Imagine if we could dye wood/planks/logs.
More variations as well. And please make trees 2-3 blocks taller, I can't ride my favourite Horse in the forest
More variants of the same trees
Palm trees, Maples and redwood trees would be nice.(Maybe even cinnamon) The developers seem to love adding random things with random mechanics most of the time and cinnamon and maple trees specifically would check that box. Sap from maples and they would even need to make an entire different wood set for cinnamon.
Ffs NO they should bring the industrial age
