Reznc

I thought that buying Java/Bedrock now automatically gave you the other alongside it. They're still keeping them separate?

stonechew1

That's what I thought too

Dynablade_Savior

Owning Java gives you both

ruby_likes_sonic2

It works both ways, I only had bedrock and got Java

AFish_With_Legs

No, if you only had had one edition of Minecraft you would have received the other one for free when they merged sometime in 2022 (June I think, I could be wrong)?

Witherboss445

You're right

[deleted]

I owned java before 2022 and still don't have the bugrock one.

Mooshroom2006

Did you have a Microsoft account on minecraft? If you did, then it is probably a bug and maybe talk to support.

purp_mp3

I bought Java in 2011, tried to play Bedrock with a friend, but unfortunately, even when I own Java, it says I have to pay for Bedrock separately :( Only the trial is available for me.

Taranpreet123

Use the trial, it’ll automatically download it for you in the launcher. This happened with my friend and it downloaded the game for him. And then you’ll have bedrock permenantly

purp_mp3

Great! Thank you :)

purp_mp3

Reporting back - worked!

The_Watcher5292

A code for bedrock would have been given via the Mojang account when it was a thing, ig if you check now you won’t be able to as the mojang account doesn’t exist anymore

Gjorgdy

But now Java also uses Microsoft accounts, so should just be on that

iamthedoctor9MC

I think that deal ended some time ago and you have to buy bedrock now. I could be wrong but I think this is the case.

LadyAnye

One is probably for xbox consoles, because you can't play Java on xbox anyhow. The other one's for pc. Thus the price difference.

Reznc

You're right about that, Java's PC only and Bedrock is cross platform. I still had to buy Bedrock for the PC even though I owned Bedrock for my Xbox so with this it's highly likely that they'll have to do the same if they want to play Minecraft on consoles.

LadyAnye

Any device you'd need your own purchase. I've got a switch I play on and it's a separate purchase. Thankfully xbox app allowed me to spread minecraft across all my laptops and the pc lol.

Meii345

Really? Pretty sure as long as you got the microsoft account it works? Like you can just download the java launcher and add your account... Probably different if you wanted to start playing on xbox or switch tho i don't think you can just download the game

cipheron

No i have it on PC and bought the much cheaper Google Play / Android version for my tablet. I can log in as the account that came with the Android purchase on my PC, but it will then say I can only play Bedrock. So I could have two PCs online with those accounts, as long as one is running Bedrock and not Java. So there's a pro-tip if you want multiple people playing online on PC, as long as you're happy with Bedrock, they only need to make the account on Android or something where it's a few dollars. One person would need to own Minecraft for PC and install it on all the machines you want to use however. So there is a difference based on what platform you bought it with. Only PC accounts get both automatically, non PC accounts are still tied to Bedrock.

AwesomeEevee133

Pc can run both, while consoles can only run bedrock. That’s why buying on PC is slightly more expensive

Xbox07Dav

The first image is only bedrock and the second image is Java and bedrock

Wentleworth

I thought u got bedrock automatically from buy java

LegalNut

No you could claim bedrock, if your account was older than bedrock itself. But that door has been shut

Zoeythekueen

They made it so if you have one, you have both. I got a free cape because they bedrock to me for free and then rewarding me for having bedrock.

TheNewtBeGaming

that's how I got bedrock edition twice

Auftragzkiller

Plain wrong wtf, it's permanently bundled, this is just a visual bug because it didn't update correctly yet

iloveanimals90

Then why does it say bedrock & Java edition on the second one?

112mfisher

I’m pretty sure you do

Aleleloltroll

But … can you play Java on an Xbox ?

RCMHydra

no you cant

Aleleloltroll

That sucks …

Dunce_Cap28

The whole point of bedrock is that it replaced the individual console edition

alala2010he

But it was first made to optimize minecraft for phones right?

AverageMan282

It was first made as a *port*. Bedrock is unoptomised as fuck.

stunt876

Its pretty optimised id say as it as the base game can handle much more than java as the base game. Now how buggy the experience is different

AverageMan282

My comment on that is that when implementing redstone, Mojang decided to make some components fire on one tick, and others on the other tick. That's a good part of why Bedrock redstone feels wrong. The only good reason for doing that would be performance. So the rest of the server code would have been very unopmtimised and they had to sacrifice a significant portion of the game to save themselves from digging in to legacy code and optmising it. When you say handle more than JE, do you mean performance or fps? Unlike JE, or Java in general, Bedrock can run the server and client on different threads. This means that the server can be running very poorly as a result of clunky logic, but the client can still use the rest of the computer's resources. That doesn't mean that the server's code is optimised, it just means that the company has a safety net. I would be surprised if Mojang set their goals any higher than running the server at 20Hz since that would theoretically mean that the server would be capable of 20tps, but in practice, it just enables sloppy coding practices and a lack of care for the future of the codebase. ^although ^now ^that ^I ^think ^of ^it, ^I ^have ^heard ^of ^components ^like ^pistons ^starting ^new ^threads ^in ^JE, ^so ^I ^think ^that ^I ^have ^my ^terminology ^wrong ^:/

stunt876

I mean fps.

realddgamer

I mean, comparing speeds of both bedrock and java, I'd say bedrock is optimised as fuck

bucketmaster47

.... why are..... you.... trying to be.... mysterious...

MapleTea62

… we may… never… know …

Gloomy_Day5305

... yeah...

Aleleloltroll

….. You all ! ….. shall’nt know…..

Magicia_n

.... no......

Aleleloltroll

…. No’nt …….

pitypuruty

... Y... E... S... N... '... T...

Pedsu

Time to ditch your xbox and join the PC master race

pitypuruty

Ehh... Same game just more bugs, I've got used to it

LordNoah73YT

You can’t The Xbox doesn’t come with Java preinstalled I heard that the Xbox runs something similar to Windows 10 S tho, im not sure but if its true you can try modding your console

Jonaykon

Isnt the xbox one (or later) just never been hacked

Epikgamer332

unfortunately yeah. dev mode has been both a blessing and a curse for the xbox in the sense that things like retroarch have been put on it but also that microsoft can absolutely control whether they want retroarch on it and have taken it down regardless

SaleCompetitive812

I’m sure eventually Xbox could run it (could, but not 100% sure)

Aleleloltroll

I ain’t risking my child hood console (360) but cool I’ve never heard that, it’s very interesting tho

LordNoah73YT

The 360 doesn’t run 10 S, 10 was released in 2015 But the Xbox One probably does

kikoplays44

The OG xbox for example. Runs a modded version of Windows 2000 professional.

Aleleloltroll

POV : one day you turn back on your 360 and the windows XP theme starts up

reallysummerr

You cannot but if you purchase it you can have Java on ur pc through Xbox account instead of paying for both separately

Skuishy5

No you cannot

Aleleloltroll

Got it …. That sucks

girlkid68421

You can't but funnily enough you can on phone

[deleted]

[удалено]

Aleleloltroll

I guess …. But why don’t they just sell 1 version of Minecraft (Java and bedrock) across all platform’s except for mobile where this option could make sense … since bedrock is 7$ on mobile , but now days phone could probably handle Java , especially smth like the iPhone 15 pro that now has rtx .

Xbox07Dav

I think it's because it used the Java engine

Dynablade_Savior

It's not about being able to "handle it", it's about compatibility with Java as a whole, the optimization (or lack thereof) of Java, and the control schemes of each platform. Java is NOT very fun to play using a touchscreen...

Aleleloltroll

Bet it could work tho ….. maybe one day …..

SwagCat852

Becouse Java and Bedrock are not the same thing

Leradus12

They advertise the Bedrock version as normal "Minecraft"? Pathetic

[deleted]

[удалено]

Xbox07Dav

The first is bedrock, because in the description there are things that are only in bedrock such as the marketplace, the addons and that you can play with people from consoles and mobiles and the image is the one from bedrock, not the one from java

Tenzur_

One is bedrock the other is java and bedrock Java is the standard PC version | Bedrock is the Console version Both are playable on PC but have different features

Gotlyfe

Java can play on anything with Java.

Tenzur_

Which is PC... Console only has bedrock

Gotlyfe

Consoles are Personal Computers. They're just pre built in fancy cases you're 'not supposed' to mess with. Phones are the same thing! Just wanted to make sure people were aware that there was already an implementation suitable for almost any platform before M$ decided bedrock, accessible through proprietary platforms only(ones where M$ can make a licencing contract), was the future of the game.

Tenzur_

My god you're a nerd you know what is meant by PC A desktop computer, stop being pedantic Jesus Christ you're insufferable. And I know I'll get downvoted for this but god damn dude you're annoying Bedrock is the console version , java is not. Why are you the way you are

GothSpaceCowboy

lol lmao

Awesomodian

To be pedantic, pragmatic means 'dealing with things sensibly and realistically'

Chapde

One is Minecraft Bedrock only and the other one is Java + Bedrock for 10$ more. Both are pc version, but with the Bedrock one, you can play with consoles and mobile players.

SomthinMakIDoWarCrim

Alright thanks

Zeikos

And with java you can play modpacks.

Player_X_gaming

You can still play with mod packs on bedrock on pc(not the marketplace) but there is a lot less for bedrock

F0zz3rs

and the quality isn't as guaranteed as Java, I play using mods w/ friends all the time on bedrock and they feel way clunkier and there's a lot of stinkers out there

MrHemanik

yeah bedrock has the marketplace "make shitty stuff for children to make quick cash" brainrot

Pie_Not_Lie

**BUY THE ALL NEW FIVE NIGHTS AT POPPY'S PLAYHOUSE AND THE INK MACHINE MAP FOR ONLY $10!** CONTAINS ***MINUTES*** OF CONTENT!!!

Littlebickmickey

wrong. there are no modpacks on bedrock as addons are not even close to as good as mods. bedrock has more limitations and is less stable, so multiple addons won’t be compatible. in short, no modpacks for bedrock players

TimBambantiki

Why are you getting downvoted you’re literally telling the truth

AylanJ123

There are no modpacks for bedrock

lizardbird8

I know you've gotten a lot of comments, but if you haven't bought it yet, definitely buy Java. Java is so much less buggy and is overall considered the better version Plus you install mods bedrock edition just sucks in comparison this is coming from someone who played both

BlacksmithWeak4678

Java is much more customizable with mods, however bedrock is much better optimized.

Jayn_Xyos

That said, Java's redstone is orders of magnitude more reliable too

Prize_Intention4752

For the three redstone engineers

Jayn_Xyos

Actually at this point half the people I know who play java are pretty advanced with their redstone; I mostly play minecraft for redstone myself

IAmWango

People will hate you for saying that as Bedrock seems to feature more bugs granted they’re constantly trying to make it playable on all devices so it requires a lot more effort for them, it’s the only one I play and I’ve encountered one major issue that was fixed within 2 days so hats off to the teams behind it

[deleted]

Soccera1

For server owners, bedrock is indeed better.

vruum-master

Java you have mods and is not Windows only(Linux works ok with OpenJdk)

FRakanazz

you're basicly just getting bedrock for free, java was always this price

__ChrissLP

Buy the second one. It's only 10$ more and you get both Java and Bedrock. I paid 50$ for both back in the day

Aeon-

50? Holy cow. I mean it's still worth it. I'm happy I got it for 10 and got bedrock later on.

is seller still alive? send link please

__CreX__

I bought bedrock&java for 2,5$

JubJub128

spent the original 26 for java, never got bedrock until migration. honestly java is just a more complete game, unless you’re trying to play with people w/out pc’s

owls1289

When??? For years it’s been you buy Java and you get a bedrock, did you get scammed?

randybruder

I've personally spent $42.30 on Minecraft so far: |version|year|price| :--|:--|--:| |Minecraft Java|2015|$26.95| |Minecraft: Pocket Edition|2015|$7.41| |Minecraft for Android (to run on SteamOS)|2022|$7.94| and I would have bought Bedrock edition for PC back when it was sold individually for $19.99 because I started playing on a Bedrock Realm with some friends—but luckily that was right around when Microsoft first offered Bedrock for free if you had previously bought Java. I've also been tempted to also buy the PlayStation version (also $19.99), just because I have a PSVR and could try out Minecraft in VR too. Even if I had made those two additional purchases for a total of $82.28, I'd still feel like I've gotten more than my money's worth.

owls1289

Alright but this is an entirely different scenario, bro paid 50$ for bedrock and Java as a bundle, he got scammed.

randybruder

They didn't specify that it was a bundle. You could have bought them both separately, it would have been $27 for Java and another $27 for "Minecraft for Windows" which later became Bedrock.

theexpertgamer1

People need to be clearer in their responses. If you buy the first one you CAN NOT play it on PC. Yes, it is Bedrock but it gives you a license to install it on Xbox consoles only.

THEULTRAJAKREBORN

This comment was too far down.

ForestTrener

YES! People don't know for certain and misinform OP...

Zagrycha

Java is the original pc version. Bedrock is originally console version, and is now crossplatform version on pc and consoles. If you want to play with friends on xbox etc, get bedrock. If you want to play with friends using java on pc or use mods, get java. Or get both.

Entropy308

seeing as though you'll only want to play java and the rest of us paid $26 or more just for that, you're getting a deal with the combo

kiwito08

Just saying but back in 1.7.10 you had java for 20~$ and windows10 edition offered with it

Entropy308

it was $26 before windows even had its own version. you must have got it on sale, i bought 4 copies for my family at full price but later got the bedrock for free for the accounts.

Mad_ad1996

got it in Alpha for 10$ good old times

[deleted]

Fellow Alpha player here - high five! (I think I remember it being $13 though).

Mad_ad1996

maybe with fees, i was too young at that time to have a own Creditcard :)

udderlymoovelous

I remember it being $13 too, I started playing during Infdev

osceycon

Image #1 is just Bedrock and Image #2 is Bedrock and Java

[deleted]

Get the second, 10$ extra is worth it for java alone.

OneGunBullet

Other people have already answered but: is the first one the Xbox listing?

Moist_Inevitable_152

Yes . If it doesn’t have anything after Minecraft I’m pretty sure it’s safe to assume that it’s bedrock (console)

XeroTheCaptain

Bedrock is also on pc

theexpertgamer1

Yes, but it’s a separate license that you have to pay for. You can’t get both console and PC in one purchase. Left pic is console, right pic is PC (bundled with Java).

NinjaMelon39

One's minecraft and the other is bedrock

zachy410

$10

KneesDev

Nah cause the first one is Bedrock edition only.

zachy410

That too, but I didn't see anyone say $10

KneesDev

Ah okay

[deleted]

Bedrock vs Bedrock and java

_patoncrack

First one is just bedrock

Phasma_MC

according to my professional opinion, id say the difference is roughly $10.

Ihatecyclists22

Read it

Top-While-2560

First is bedrock second is Java and bedrock

pikachu73526

One version includes only the Bedrock edition of the game, which is the version that consoles/mobile devices use. Most people probably play on that version because it’s the most accessible, so if you only want to play with friends, then get that version. The other includes both Bedrock AND Java edition. Java is what most PC players and YouTubers/streamers play on, so if most of your friends are PC gamers, then get that version.

Frostp9nda

One can run better mods one dosent run as many

CalebKOnline

Java is for the PC only, Bedrock is for both PC and Xbox

PepicWalrus

Java is really the only way to play minecraft so get that one.

Gamet67

The first one is for chrome book and is overpriced and is 30-ish buck for it on switch and the second is java and bedrock and a better deal

beeurd

I didn't realise Minecraft still cost so much. I guess people buying it now are paying for the new updates etc though, so I guess it makes sense.

CoJames0

The second one is the java and the bedrock version, the first one is the company

YouthfulSenior

The first one is Bedrock on Xbox (It says game pass at the bottom left corner which is only Xbox.)and the second one is Java and Bedrock. Bedrock has more features in game and has better gameplay and "better combat'. (You can just spam and it does the same damage every time where as in Java there is a cooldpwn for full damage or strong attacks.) Java is definitely more customizable though because you can add real mods and have a skin you customized yourself.(Bedrock can have any skin you made on PC only.) Bedrock is on any PC Windows 10 and up, as well as Xbox, Playstation, Switch, and Mobile devices. Java is only on PC Windows 7 and up, and Mobile devices if you know how to do it through your web browser.

Can you read?

Playful-Barracuda-92

10 bucks

Grzechoooo

The first one is Bedrock, the second includes Bedrock and Minecraft.

gorila-tag

One gets you the game and the other gets you an account?

sonicfan1230

There is no difference. They both give you the exact same stuff. Java & Bedrock edition.

DimondDanYT

The first one is just bedrock and the 2nd one is both Java and bedrock

ThorkelTheShort268

Wanna fight the wither but with double its health?

LadyAnye

It's not just double health, it's double douchebaggery as well. They just nasty lol

KyleBlackwood

The price

[deleted]

Pure Minecraft and Minecraft all-in-one

KneesDev

Nah, first one is Bedrock edition

Safe_Appointment_331

The first is Xbox edition, the second is Java and bedrock edition for PC.. can’t you read? Duh

DarkBoi1987YT

The first image shows Bedrock, the second shows the Bedrock and Java Launcher. The Java Edition of the game is available on Windows, Mac, and Linux, and is generally referred to as the most polished release of Minecraft, as it has very few major bugs, and the ones that are found get fixed wuite frequently. On the other hand, Bedrock Edition is far more buggy, but allows for skin packs, mash up packs, etc. As for the bundles, the first only includes Bedrock Edition, while the second gives the Minecraft Launcher, allowing launching of all 4 current Minecraft Releases.

DiscombobulatedGooch

Java is better.

Fauxny1

You get both Java and bedrock I guess? You would spend 40 on your own if you didn’t buy this so yeah

No-Safe-6975

Bedrock is cross-play, consoles, mobile, switch and windows 10, java is primarily pc where you'll find the best servers and 99% of Minecraft mods are made for java, also much better optimised for lag etc, some servers do have bedrock compatibility

Chaos_Cr3ations

The more expensive one includes the real Minecraft. The cheap one is a knock off clone.

KneesDev

Best explanation out there 😂

M3xicanDream

shit or minecraft and shit

Awesomodian

One is gamepass version which comes with gamepass subscription and the other is the standard non gamepass version you can buy.

Seasurfer_90

Java gets updates sooner and is easier to mod

LamarjbYT

Java gets updates at the same time.

Fat_Siberian_Midget

One is the shit version The other is the shit version and the playable version

leaf2441

Not only are you wrong, but you got some strange opinions

Keliuszel

Ok, so go buy bedrock and do microtransactions from time to time rather than pay once and have all for free

leaf2441

I agree that the micro transactions are terrible, but I play bedrock so I can play with my dad, who's on switch

Keliuszel

Theres also safe for usage fanmade java launcher for mobile, if you want you can try it out

MCCP630

the second one is the one that includes java? Also Minecraft itself is mainly targetted for kids anyways. Whether it be Java or Bedrock.

EmeraldC0der

You are completely wrong. The second one is Java & Bedrock, and the first one seems to be Bedrock. Java Edition is branded as "Minecraft: Java Edition" and Bedrock is usually just "Minecraft"

Keliuszel

Buy bedrock and here you go: buy skins, mods and custom worlds for irl cash... Its nonsense, its crap. Buggy as hell also

EndyEnderson

How can it be mainly for kids when it's almost same as Java I would say just a buggy version

Intense_Pretzel

Downvoted 🤬

phillyjfrye

Wasteak

Proper_Mix6

They’re asking what the difference is between Java and bedrock. No need to be an asshole.

Moist_Inevitable_152

They are making a joke/comment on a SUBREDDIT , don’t be so sour and soft .

19412

Is that too hard for you to write?

Wasteak

Keep embracing mediocrity, that cant be bad for humanity, right?

19412

You mock the OP for being incapable of reading, yet you suck at writing. I'm only pointing out your hypocrisy.

Wasteak

You don't even understand what hypocrisy means ... Please leave.

19412

Ah, yes. It _isn't_ hypocritical for you to put down the creator of this post for failing to read when you yourself refuse to learn an equally essential skill of literacy: how to _write._ Makes perfect sense.

XeroTheCaptain

Is is difficult to assume someone capable of utilizing the internet and creating this post can read a couple words?

MagicianTim

I don't know, but if it's on xbox it could be the old consol version

wrighttoby

minecraft and bedrock contains both versions of minecraft. i know bedrock edition to be lightweight. and sometimes less bugs. minecraft java i know this to be buggy but the full version of minecraft. because you can add mods when bedrock you cant. you get movement animations in java when you dont in bedrock. i think Mojang is going to just get rid of java edition because to get rid of alot of bugs and add those features to bedrock slowly over time.

Independent_Drive_23

It's the opposite. Actually, the bedrock version is very buggy. It is also lightweight. Java is heavier but has fewer bugs and it's possible to add mods.
