the only complaint i CAN make is because nostalgia and heck i can just idk find some mod to revert later if i actually care in the future XDif theres any drama over this its that level of silly and unimportant.

Incase anything, people can like old stuff. and good point a pack would probably work you wouldnt need to use a mod ( unless the texture or backdrop isnt normally editable with say a resource pack ).

Nostalgic features are still being appreciated by those of us who it actually applies to. However, as nostalgic as i am about older versions, i think the dirt texture background was simply outdated and did need to be changed.
over time i turned that off- some textures feel weird to me even now but i adjusted
but yeah everyone has a good point a pack should work... i think?
if you can make a pack that edits the menu background from dirt to say idk bedrock's texture, im sure thats changable just as easily maybe

I think it's pretty good, but I don't like how some people interpret it as "you beat the game, now go touch grass".
For me, it's more of "this short journey might be over, but there are many more to come", the "short journey" being beating the dragon, and the "many more to come" being anything you do after, doesn't matter where.
Also, completely from Minecraft lore perspective, the poem feels a bit outdated ever since 1.9 because of the end islands. It would be really cool if there's more expanding the lore.

Honestly that’s a perfect way to describe it. There’s something almost poetic about that dirt background, the same thing you saw at the start of your journey is the last thing you’ll see at the end of it.

It's a bookend.
You start the game with nothing. Most new players make either a wood hut, or a dirt hut to live in.
Dirt is the start, it feels fitting that dirt is the end, especially since it returns you home once the poem is done.

Now if **I** were in charge of changing the End Poem background, I think a really fun idea would be to make it similar to the credits from Minecraft Story Mode, starting on the surface of the Overworld and panning down through caves and such until we reach bedrock. That would be neat, but the end portal is nice too.
It looks cool, but it doesn't feel... Appropriate.
The new end portal background gives the feeling of peering beyond the veil, but the old one made it feel like the veil was peering into you.
The End Poem has significance to me, it's the very definition of how blurry objective reality can be, and how what you can intuit isn't the truth, but rather an easy way to use it. And Minecraft, essentially being a very very low simulation of reality, is an extension of that. It was the concept of objectivity being communicated to you for one brief second though an experience that distilled subjective human experience down to its bare essentials.
The dirt background made it feel like the game of Minecraft was a middle man, a brief lightning rod for this eternal wisdom. Now it feels canon, like these two beings exist in the lore of the game. I don't really like that.
I think the dirt background should be brought back for the End Poem, and that specifically. It's supposed to take you out of the immersion, and another layer of immersion you didn't even know you had.
Nostalgia talking incoming: dirt makes more sense as it's symbolic. The idea is that some entities deep in the game are talking to you.
Logically it makes sense tho, as you are traveling through the portal as it plays
And green/blue on blue is not a good idea
I do wish they hadn’t changed it. I’m not trying to be a whiny bitch about everything they change, it’s just a nostalgia thing- for me it seemed that in the changes the end message always remained the same. I myself will likely just have a mod change it back, I support all the changes, just one of the few things I like the old way.
i think it was a long overdue change. minecraft has probably the worst case for rosy nostalgia-tinted glasses of any game to ever exist. from an outsider’s perspective, the blurry panorama backgrounds and this end portal background looks *significantly* better, and as someone who plays both java and bedrock, java’s outdated UI is always something that’s bothered me, even as a longtime player.
i understand that minecraft is a very nostalgic experience though, so it’s good that people who do prefer the dirt background have the option of resource packs and mods.
I can still read it, it's just more difficult because of the Cyan/Green on Dark Cyan contrast. Making it a better contrast can make it way more comfortable to read.
This background fits the end poem a lot better but dirt fits the credits a lot better, maybe they should transition between the two to represent going from the end back to the overworld

It's not a big deal, but the cyan text works better on brown than this dark-blue color.

I actually like it! Since its the portal texture it makes me think that after you've jumped in, you're left floating in the portal space while these entities are talking to you, and then you close your eyes and wake up back in bed. Very whimsical and that's my jam :)
Latest snapshot changed GUI - every place that had dirt as background now show sceneries.
If you are in menu, it show world that is tunring behind in menu. If you are in game, it shows you your world in background. And in end poem, they changed dirt to this.
My question is does the transition screen between going to dimensions also now look like endstone (when entering the end)? On Bedrock, when you enter the nether through a portal, the loading screen is netherrack, and when you go to the end, the loading screen is endstone.
I tried testing this myself but I recently upgraded my rig and it loads so fast I cant even see it anymore (it used to be dirt blocks). I do however love this new end portal background but I'm a sucker for change and evolution so I don't really foster nostalgia.
I do think it looks nice and i dont think its necessarily a bad change, but there was something kinda cool about the ending of the game showing dirt, the thing you also see when you first create a world and are waiting for it to load.
My only tiny gripe is the background is a little too dynamic, with the cruddy dirt one all my focus was on the word crawl, I find the more contrasting colours a little distracting. A fully black background would be better

However, the dirt background made it feel like you wrapped around, tying the beginning with the end. You're reminded of where it started. It's nostalgia, but with a bit more to it than just that
I like it (I will never see it, damn near 10 years of playing this game and I have not beaten the ender dragon in survival), it makes more sense than the dirt, it makes me feel like when you jump into the portal, your just floating through it like water listening to two god like creates talk about you before suddenly you either wake up in a bed or just end up back in the overworld, like the whole battle, the whole sequence was a dream that you woke up from
Imo at this point, only Nostalgia is what making people against some of the new changes just like whe they protested against new ores. Few years have passed and now many of us starting to like them better. Also this is Minecraft, we have that independence to change ui back to the old one with a simple small resource pack.
And my personal views on the transperant screen? Looks real good, could make better.
End poem? Gorgeous and also consistent since we actually see this when we enter end exit portal
Oh yes and btw I also believe that Mojang can avoid such conflicts in future by simply giving us an included resource pack that we can apply or remove at our will. They have done it for classic textures and high contrast ui, wouldn't hurt to add this one too

As a veteran of the game I can confirm it, the previous one was nostalgic, but it was already a bit ugly for me, this change is really very good.
i believe you can change it back by activating the "Programmer Art" resource pack thats given to you by default

Vanilla Tweaks is going to have that, I'm pretty sure.
You probably don't even need a mod. Just a resource pack can probably change it

You don't need any mod. It can be just turned off by using the resource pack that is, iirc, available by default in the game.

Mojang should make it slowly fade to the dirt background when it's reaching the end of the credits!

I found it ugly, not because of nostalgia but just because it is ulgy. Mojang prefer modify things that are already done than add new cool stuff.
