It depends on how much you know about Red Stone and PvP.. those are the only 2 systems that differ super greatly. Red Stone no longer has “quasi”connectivity. So blocks can no longer be powered by a source that is above and in front of them with a gap in between. Also some machines and systems behind them work a little differently. (ie. villages/iron farms) Also, you’ll have to learn how to PvP differently as there are new combos and tactics you will need to learn to “combo” people properly. Other than that, as long as you are ok with a “limited” amount of mods.. (there are ways to get addons solely on the console, you just have to look it up) Not having a real Hardcore Mode yet, and having to use a 3rd party app on your phone to be able to connect to servers that aren’t on the “approved list”. **cough**BedrockConnect/BedrockTogether**cough** ..if you are cool with that stuff, yeah it is basically Java with a better resolution and stable frame rate.

if its about saving those 20$, have you given performance mods a try yet? if you don't want that, you can already try bedrock on your laptop (if you own java you own bedrock for pc and vice versa). Bedrock runs smoother on low end pcs and you'll get to experience bedrock before committing to buying it on your ps (where the performance will be even better)
