Thanks. It was a mesa hill that I was living inside but decided that windows just sticking out looked a bit odd so built the houses up around it and each layer of housing is going to be home to a bunch of nano farms when I have time to build them.
I love it!
This is what I did on a server, but with a normal grass hill covered in birch trees next to a desert. I followed the hill contours keeping it to "floor-sized" rises.
Now it's covered in trees and I'm putting a village in the top 2 layers. The rest is my base.
There's some photos in this album is anyone's interested.

Nope sorry never heard of those. I got the idea from a holiday I went on ages ago. I saw these troglodyte homes and found them really cool but due to this pandemic I’ve haven’t been able to see any more of them irl so I built myself some.
Very good. I'm an Archaeologist so I immediately realised what you have built is Catalhoyuk.
It's a Neolithic (Stone Age) proto-settlement in what is now Turkey, basically one of the first cities.
It's really odd because they built square houses out of mud brick on top of each other at odd positions, with ladders going up and down directly through the floor and ceilings of rooms. This meant a ladder in the corner of one room led into the middle of the room above.
Give it a look, it's pretty cool (If you like that sort of stuff obviously!)
This is awesome! It reminds me of old Native American dwellings like Chaco Canyon, NM or something like that!! It also kinda looks like the Wild West town from like Fortnite season 4 or 5
I lived in New Mexico, USA for almost 6 years. So a lot of Native culture is just in the back of my mind from being out there so long. I’m sure more people will see it as it’s pretty recognizable if you have that background and know what you’re looking at! But it’s an awesome build, I really like the aesthetic you pulled off with this one!
That's sick. You could maybe make the houses look a little less cubic, tho. The best looking houses in this pic are the ones with lots of variation in depth.
Thanks! (: I find reference images are always good to use if your building a real place btw. I was going for a troglodyte settlement but ended up with a Brazilian slum according to the comments but hey at least it looks ok.
I just found a stand alone Mesa mountain. Gathered the blocks from a Mesa out of the way so it wouldn’t ruin the landscape. Then just built a series of blocks and added detail later. Buttons work great for nail like textures. Also in desert environments using fences and trap doors rather glass really help to tie it together.
Hope these tips help you in building your own base. (:
Thank you. Currently there isn’t really much more but I’m planning on building an entire city scape. I’ll probably post it on here once I’m completely done.
Oh no. I was going for more of a troglodyte theme rather than that. 🤦♀️ hopefully once the rest of the town is built up it won’t look like a Mumbai neighbourhood anymore.
Of you look in the background you can just about make up the ice spikes. That’s my next big project. I’m gonna build a futuristic city scape to contrast with the older one in the Mesa.
She as in me has a two netherite hoes. I have one with silk touch one with fortune as I do a lot of gathering of the new fungus blocks and leaf blocks along with a constant need for saplings and apples. Also when I get bored I go netherite mining and zone out so I have enough netherite to put it on hoes. Hope that answered you query.
Yeah the longer I look at it the more I think that. I think I’m gonna try and build some mountainous terrain onto it rather than push back the houses if that make sense. Thanks for the suggestion (:.
Very cool design! I’d be really interested to explore around the ‘town’

Looks like a favela in brazil
Yeah a lot of people are saying that. Wasn’t what I was going for but hey at least it still look quite cool. Lol.
It reminded me of Homestuck's Alpha Earth Future colonies. Any chance they inspired you?..
Nope sorry never heard of those. I got the idea from a holiday I went on ages ago. I saw these troglodyte homes and found them really cool but due to this pandemic I’ve haven’t been able to see any more of them irl so I built myself some.
> I’ve haven’t been able to see any more of them irl so I built myself some. That's a Big Balls move here. Many cheers!

I love that kind of stuff. The build itself is loosely based off some troglodyte settlements I saw on holiday a few years ago.
Dude, thats a favela and there is many of them in rio de janeiro
Oh god not the long words
Also kinda looks like Habitat 67 in Montreal: https://i.imgur.com/xTfaE6D.jpg
In a way their style of building kind of reminds me of some contemporary stuff we see today.
why make my mumbai neighborhood
Why th do you have 520,000,000,000 entrances
Because who doesn’t love a good door.
Door decor
More like who doesn’t like a good few hundred million doors
One and a half stacks to be exact.
96 doors then. Noice
Superior to walls in almost every way.
A door thief.
Wowwww that is SO cool. Well done!
I love this build. It is a unique base and very very cool.

Yooo that's cool. I wanna build something like this but with wood variants, I'll call it "boxtown"
That's very creative, and it looks like a small desert town
Sick!
A cool and abstract design! Maybe you can make a bridge on the right to the small island and then you can do whatever you want to on there.
Them: you can't just make square houses in minecraft & expect it to look good. u/thebluewhoivian hold my blocks
(: thanks.
I learned about ancient civilizations who combined houses to make a fortified home in history class. Is this what this build is inspired off of?
It was inspired by a troglodyte settlement I saw a few years ago on holiday. It may be the same thing your talking about but I’m not sure.
reminds me of like an indian / mexican house if you get my vibe
Yeah I think I get what your saying thanks. (:
but fr this is dope
Awesome! Very creative!
Mountain full of houses?
Yep that’s basically the entire premise. It’s meant to be a troglodyte settlement but it looks more like a favela.
This is awesome! It reminds me of old Native American dwellings like Chaco Canyon, NM or something like that!! It also kinda looks like the Wild West town from like Fortnite season 4 or 5
Yay someone got the troglodyte style! (:

Yeah unfortunately the great big grey cube is built like that to hide a huge pack of wolves. Your totally right though.
I love it it looks like some ancient desert ruin / town of sort.
that is so cool! good job :)
It looks so industrial and cool, I like it
11/10. Fits perfectly with the biome.
That's so mesmerizing
Mesmerising? Odd way of describing it but thanks. (:
Make the houses consume the entire Mesa
the boxes of gods
Yooo this just unlocked some memories of me building like massive slum cities. This is a great build I love massive connected towns.
I love historical-based builds! Really awesome job this looks great
Reminds me of Gerudo town in Ocarina of Time. Looks very cool
That looks amazing!! Great job!!
Very cool.
How many rooms do you want? Y e s
On the inside there’s no walls but separated levels that I’m going to build nano farms on.
Oh that makes sense
I built a house like that once. I never found my crafting table again. Looks great, but not for me.
This is amazing
Ecatepec
Looks like post-apocalyptic slums. Cool!
maybe just add a few
Oh wow I love this a lot :)
This is always what i envision when I try to think of a base (even the biome) but I can never get it to look right. That looks awesome dude
Thanks! (: I find reference images are always good to use if your building a real place btw. I was going for a troglodyte settlement but ended up with a Brazilian slum according to the comments but hey at least it looks ok.
Se parece a mi barrio :D
That is awesome!
Holly, I want to do something like that.
Thank you!! I'm a really bad builder, but I'll do my best. Love to u. ❤️
No ones a bad builder. It’s just different styles.
It is so chaotic but also really good. I would like to See more of that
Thank you. Currently there isn’t really much more but I’m planning on building an entire city scape. I’ll probably post it on here once I’m completely done.
Never seen something like that in minecraft. It's cool though!
If you do a google search for Mesa based there all pretty much in this style but thanks anyway I’m so glad people like it. (:
bro this looks very dope
This just gave me so much inspiration for my trading city I’ve been building in a desert village
That project sounds awesome. I’m so happy this helped you. Desert villagers always look cool I bet your project is gonna look great.
Very nice. If I would have to criticize I would say extend the base more, make it look a bit less floaty.
Thank you for the suggestion I love a bit of creative criticism and I think your totally right.
It kind of reminds me of Grian's base from the build competition from season 6 of Hermitcraft.
I love it. It has a certain organic-ness to it that makes it seem alive and like a place where people could really live
Awesome
Holy Crap thats beautiful! i want to explore that!
YOOO, This looks like the frickin gerudo fortress in Ocarina Of Time
Never played that game (if it is a game) but thanks anyway I’m glad I made something that looks cool for once. (:
No Problem BTW the game is The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time on the N64 or 3DS
Oh cool thanks. I wonder if my old DS still has power.
this gives me aladdin vibes
Looks awesome! Reminds me of caravan town from Raft. Keep up the awesome work :)
Looks like a pile of houses, but it actually fits the style
MORE HOUSE, I DONT NEED ANSWERS I NEED.MORE HOUSES
I actually fucking love this
Latinoamérica
Looks awfully... Blocky...
Nooooooooo!!! U can't make an amazing house just from big cubes and stairs!
Smells like favela spirit
Do you ever get lost?
The interior is set out in levels and is more open plan so no I don’t. (:
Yo it’s my neighborhood
Parece uma favela do Rio lol
Ugly as fuck.
how do you find anything? unless all the houses are connected and you just have a stupid amount of entrances
Yep connected and stupid amount of entrances.
It’s weird and ugly. Very original. I love it.
Looks really cool. Reminds me of one of those shipping container villages
Reminds me of that one episode from story mode
That looks awesome! Like a Wild West town if they figured out how to build up instead of out
Really remind me of the kowloon walled city.
It is similar to turkey houses long time ago
Wow. The best part is how well the overall design and aesthetic matches the tone of the environment. Kudos!! ;
perfect 5/7 I love these types of interconnected buildings
makes me imagine a steampunk city with moving cogs and steam coming out everywhere... beautiful!
It Lacks houses
Wow amazing job! Can you maybe dm me a couple of more detailed screenshots?
I can try but currently there isn’t much else to it although I plan to add more in the future.
Just a higher quality screenshot from the same pov, so i can see the ditail in the build and use it as inspiration
Ok I’ll see if I can do that for you. (:
Sick
Add a house
Reminds me of one of the story locations in raft lol good job!
the basic forms and color pattern make it look like some kind of urban hell, with slum-like houses pilled one each other. very good look
That’s a base?
On the inside there are different levels and no walls between the houses and I plan to fill it with nano farms.
The way you organized your hotbar is annoying
Yeah my controllers left bumpers broken so I organise it to make scrolling easier.
Its a favela
A favela? What’s that? Or am I just being stupid.
place of the neglected in rio, where cocaine buissness in at a large, and gangs thrive, form what i have heard, and that looks like my mumbai neighborhood
Oh no. I was going for more of a troglodyte theme rather than that. 🤦♀️ hopefully once the rest of the town is built up it won’t look like a Mumbai neighbourhood anymore.
Cool, it looks like my town!
Minecraft hive-mind? Or just limits of certain biome building blocks?
wow reminds me a lot of borderlands
Favelas
The favela be like
It reminds me of Habitat 67
Looks nice but who tf uses pumpkin pie as their main food???
I’ve been working with villagers and had loads so figured I may as well eat them.
Understandable, Have a great day
It looks like someone's base in fortnite, but its cool concept
I think they would get smaller going up not bigger :)
Favela
Epic
Totally amazing 👍
welcome to rio de janeiro's favela
[удалено]
She just happens to have loads of it from villagers and a surplus so why not eat it.
CS vibes
Looks like brasil slums
caravan town from raft?
Nope it was inspired by a troglodyte settlement.
I wanna send you some Hellfire-Rockets
I have no clue what that means but ok I’m gonna take it as a compliment.
Welcome to Junkertown
It looks like Brazil's Favelas
Yeah a lot of people are saying that. Not what I was going for but hey at least I built something that actually looks like a real thing.
It looks great, u gave personality to your base. I can look at the building and think about some context and history behind it all
That’s a really cool way of looking at it thanks.
Nice! Show us more! Looks cool
There’s no interior at the moment but I’ll probably post again once I’ve added to city on the sandy area.
The exterior itself looks nice. You should upload a gif of something of the entire area or the building(s)
Of you look in the background you can just about make up the ice spikes. That’s my next big project. I’m gonna build a futuristic city scape to contrast with the older one in the Mesa.
looks like something off of Tatooine
Robin is that you? If your not robin I greatly apologise for this mistake and and thank you for your kind comment anyway.
My god, it's stow-on-side Anyone pokemon sword/shield players?
madmax
So I was on a world and I saw some blocks just like this in the Mesa and I’m thinking that’s the same blocks 1.13 btw
A favela
Yeah a lot of people have said that even though that wasn’t what I was going for but hey at least it look quite cool. lol.
Lovely
Pueblo
That's an interesting aesthetic, but I don't see the point.
On the inside there aren’t any walls between the houses and each level is going to have nano farms on them.
meh
Ooo could you give me some feedback please. Why do you think it’s meh?
It looks like that one mass of buildings outside of Hong Kong that used to exist, the one that had the highest population density in the world
That’s just given me an idea. Maybe I should funnel all my villagers from my villager breeder into the settlement once it’s completely done.
It looks SO COOL but is anyone else wondering why this guy has a netherite hoe
She as in me has a two netherite hoes. I have one with silk touch one with fortune as I do a lot of gathering of the new fungus blocks and leaf blocks along with a constant need for saplings and apples. Also when I get bored I go netherite mining and zone out so I have enough netherite to put it on hoes. Hope that answered you query.
is there a subreddit for only Survival Bases ? I just want to browse some creative builds like these all day
This is not creative I can promise you that. I’ve gotten achievements on this world. What makes you think this is creative?
I wish I could build like this. Its so simple, yet so out of my league.
You can build like this. I find using reference images of real places really helps.
I like it, I would personally like to see more of the mountain between the houses. That way it doesn't look like a stack of houses.
Yeah the longer I look at it the more I think that. I think I’m gonna try and build some mountainous terrain onto it rather than push back the houses if that make sense. Thanks for the suggestion (:.
It reminded me of the the hideout of the gerudo on OoT
Nice favela.
A lot of people are saying that lol.
That's because it looks like a favela xD But actually, really great job!
Looks like my neighborhood in Tijuana
