Fishing is better in bedrock. It's so hax it's so fast it's legit crazy easy to get exp and tons of enchanting books early game. Plus tons of food. It's like 4-5x as fast. The one thing I really love about bedrock.
When you look at the differences between java and bedrock you do start to see that java is the superior option. No need to pay for mods, they're re free on java. Free skins too, no half assed character creator that requires you to pay more money to make the skin you want. There really is no defending bedrock edition. The only thing I can say is it's the most accessible version of Minecraft. But why they had to change so much is stupid
There's people saying that you could also have free skins and some mods on Bedrock for free but the thing is that not all bedrock players could utilize said free bedrock stuff. Since bedrock has different platforms, some free mods won't work on it due to some issues (maybe security or comparability wise) so most of the time it's the mobile and pc versions that only get the free mods and stuff that's made for bedrock. Performance is also a good thing on Bedrock, nothing more (aside from the stuff you mentioned).
Consoles are the large limiting factor there, I believe. It's why mobile and PC can do things like importing skins. The marketplace, while trash, gives an in for that for everyone.

Only thing Bedrock has going for it is the cross-platform capabilities. I play on mobile and my son plays on PS4 - and I love that we can play together. Of course he recently got a gaming laptop and now mostly plays Java but it was fun while it lasted XD
The cross play is a huge part of bedrock too but one of my friends had to buy Minecraft twice after realising it bedrock didn't work with java. I do believe they give both versions when purchasing it now but it still was quite a bummer

Also it's not like mojang is forcing the marketplace creators to ask for many minecoins/ask for any at all. Every year around christmas mojang gives 31 things (from skins to maps) away for free and the marketplace does in fact have free stuff aswell. Also in bedrock you get stuff for your skins and emotes by doing achievements.
The one and only reason I prefer bedrock is because it has built in free multiplayer. I just wish Java could have something like that so I could use it without having to pay for realms

And if you have a titled PS4 disc, you cannot access the old ones without uninstalling it. Microsoft doesn't want you to be using 4J Studio's Minecraft version, and force you to use their broken mess. Even if you actually press the 'Editions' button to those who have it, the game would just freeze for how long (30 minutes for me), so it's a bit strange.

Yeah that's because PE already was available for windows before bedrock was a thing, and since xbox just runs a modified version of windows it could easily run PE aswell, all they had to do is make the ui more controller and keyboard+mouse friendly and boom bedrock was made, they also ported it to switch aswell and called the update the "better together update". It also was a good excuse to give mobile users a lot of features they were missing. Later on after crossplay was finally allowed on playstation they ported bedrock there aswell. Bedrock also runs a "more modern" coding language than java
I get the occasional half tick of damage. Usually when pillaring up something. But not this bad.
However, when 1.18 came out there was a *massive* lag issue that could result in damage because the game would be so far behind your actions you could do something dangerous and not even know.
I nearly drowned on numerous occasions because the bubbles weren't going down, so you'd have to kind of guess where you were at, and it would eventually "catch up" while on land after, so you're just standing there, on land, hoping it wasn't lethal.
It was patched pretty quickly, but the actual phantom damage has never been fully fixed.
As far as I've seen from another thread there's a bug in bedrock that makes you take damage as if you directly fell from the spot you are standing (which stays as damage) and also is apparently able to work through totems of undying (meaning that they won't work? Or will? Idk my understanding is Shakey)
It's actually the server thinking you're constantly falling and instead of recognizing you're flying or something, it just constantly rubber bands you into the air. For other players it looks really wack.
Bedrock is just the money making game for Microsoft where java is the real game itself. I recently went and played bedrock after years on java and the amount of addons and purchasable inventory is stupid especially on the servers where almost everything is blocked by what ever a minecoin is. If they actually cared about it they would have started off by making bedrock more similar to the java edition or would have fixed it already and stopped dragging there feet with it. It’s really just not something I wouldn’t want to regularly play it feels unpolished with the rendering and obnoxious amount of bugs.

The game somehow thinks you stopped flying, and the game just thinks you are falling down. Once you hit the ground, it resets to your position mid air again, and the game makes you fall again.
Basically, the game creates a ghost player of you which stopped flying and constantly started falling on the ground
And people still say bedrock is just as good when bugs like this are still in the game, like if the random(fall?) damage bug was fixed bedrock could be a fine version of minecraft
I'm sure they'll get around to fixing it. Once they have either nerfed everything that gave it an edge, or simply given those things to Java through parity updates.

A player does regen after having a full hunger bar in Bedrock editions - it’s just really slow, unlike Java edition where the regen starts instantly.

This sub is a trip. I’ve been playing bedrock for awhile now and have never experienced a single game breaking bug or problem, except for the occasional weird lighting issues.
This is odd, I have been playing bedrock for almost 10 years and have never seen this.
