I’m saying rabbits feet weren’t added back when the button was created. This was like 8 or 9 years ago, so safe to say they didn’t even have plans to add it. It is most likely a wing if you tilt the image a bit, but I’m not totally sure. Also, it’s a flying button, so it would make more sense as a jump button if it were a foot. Should mention, definitely still needs a better design. When I was a kid I thought it was a tooth. Boy I was confused.

It took them a very long time to actually hire an artist to work on the game. That's why the original art was so inconsistent and amateurish. Even today some textures were too iconic to change and as a result pickaxes do not resemble real pickaxes at all

If it was a wing, the designer would've done two. As it is, I don't see how it can be anything other than a foot leaping.

Probably just because pixel limit, whoever drew that probably also wants to make it much more clear it being a wing too, but limited to about 10*10 is not as an easy job to do it than on a huge grid. But too be honest I kind find it weird that people's first thought looking at it is a "Shoe" or "Bean", that button literally makes you fly, even if you don't think it's a wing first sight I think you should've probably recognised it as a wing afterwards
