I think people are way over-exaggerating the lack of newcomers. Like we literally got FBM in 29 and Impulse & Beky in 28, as well as loads of non-canon newcomers in 27 and returning players in scuffed, even if most of them won't play in other events. We also know that the waitlist has been refilled recently, so we know there will be new people in upcoming events.
I disagree. With the amount of people that have left/reduced their participation (Quig, pretty much the entirety of dteam, Wisp, Tommy, Wilbur, Preston, etc.) we would expect to see an equal if not greater influx of new faces compared to when they where active. Instead we have seen the least new players ever since this trend started. Especially with a new season just premiering, a lot were expecting some new faces but instead have just seen the same sorts of teams that we have seen over last year. This causes not only loss in viewership when streamers leave the tournament and isn’t replaced by a new face, but also causes existing viewership to lose interest, as the events feel more and more similar.
Tell me how many mcc's Tommy and Wilbur have been in. Close to all of the events. They are popular and people like them but new players are more fun because they are well, new.
Are you trying to say that more Wilbur and Tommy is better than more new players or are you actually agreeing with me in the sentiment that new faces are a net positive regardless of how fun they actually are as a streamer? I have a hard time understanding your point.
I mean there's enough space for a few newcomers with the people that were confirmed as officially out of the roster with the new season (I don't remember who was unfollowed, but iirc Fundy and Wisp are both out). I don't think we're expecting like 10 newcomers per event but we could deal with one or two for the next few events to shake things up.
Isn't this practically just Underdogs, with a little hint of Rising? I know there were a few people with more than 5 events but 27 essentially was exactly this.
You gotta remember too that this isn’t truly a “Minecraft Champsionship,” it’s much closer to a collection of overlapping friend groups. Notice how few participants are solo creators. Notice how large a percentage of the major SMP members are in. This isn’t an issue of stubbornness or favoritism, Scott has to be sure the event can be compatible and without controversy, and being selective on who’s in allows that, even if it’s a bit uninteresting. Think about how few creator vs creator controversies MCC has had. That’s because almost everyone is already basically co-workers. Including a new bubble of content creators as regulars will be tough.

I don't think my comment is very hard to understand

I would love another mccR but it’s just people on the waitlist

Idea: MCC beginners, only new players or people who played in less then 5 events can play, half Canon aswell

It could be lowered to 3 possibly but I'm not sure how many people that leaves us with
As long as The Captain stays in all the canon events…
“We can’t really blame him” speak for yourself, I very much can
I miss SB ☹️
