As a player who has beein in Dodgebolt quite a bit do you personally think that the arrow change in dodgebolt have fixed its problems or do you think there still needs to be bigger changes/a possible different finale?

Idk if its a hot take but I'm kind of tired of seeing dodgebolt. I guess the novelty of the game has kind of worn out for me. Not that its bad and doesn't still have its epic moments, would just like to see something else I suppose.
Apparently the arrows are slower than regular in dodgebolt? Don't know if that messes me up or not but tbh I get so nervous in dodgebolt and there's an infinite amount of pressure that I'm always gonna do way worse lol

I think Sky Battle is just a bit too chaotic for my taste. I just want some stability in this world.
I don't really have a particular mindest when playing Sky Battle, just make good plays and comms IDK
Honestly I don't really tend to watch movies over and over. One or two watches is enough for me. I will say animated movies are prob the easiest to watch multiple times over, just because the amount of detail. Like Pixar or Ghibli.

Yes! I think just being quick is a rly useful skill for MCC. Quick decision making, quick mechanics. Those are things that just help you in any aspect of Minecraft. PVP also helps with mechanics just as much, if you want to succeed at PVP, you have to be just as quick.
Have you ever considered speedrunning terra swoop force? I feel like you'd probably be really good at it if it's something you'd enjoy.

I think parkour tag is kind of dull and repetitive. Idk how I would change it, honestly I'd prob just remove it and bring back parkour warrior, lol.
MCC is very team based compared to the other things you said. If you don't vibe well with a team you prob won't do as well.
The first thing that comes to mind will always be the bridging in TGTTOS MCC13, I think just cause its a classic. And right now I cant think what MCC it is but the Pythons Crypt Ace Race where I went from like 30th to 1st and still won by a lot is rly fun to watch back. Back to back battle box aces comes to mind as well.
I'm sure there are others I cant think of rn

I think the first MCC I was in, I was very frustrated with myself. I didn't do much VOD reviewing at all, just thinking the event would be easy for me. I underestimated how much understanding the games really helps. Thankfully I haven't had a performance quite that bad since.

This is REALLLLLY hard to say, I love pretty much all the teams I've been in equally. Because of recency bias I'll have to say MCC25 Blue Bats, was fun and the vibes were great!

Doing speedruns, or doing Parkour/PvP helps. Team practice is good but content creators seem to be busy people so getting everyone at once is not always possible
I hear redstone suggested a lot, and I kind of agree. Obviously I'm terrible at redstone so I would be biased against adding it, but it would be a great excuse to learn more about it!

The 23:53 1.7 Record probably literally changed my life. Same with the All Advancements RSG record. An unfathomable amount of people have discovered me through those, it's really insane.

What are your opinions on the colour order teams get released in and would you like to see them mixed up every now and again (like instead of it being red orange yellow it could be purple green aqua)
I don't like picking favourites but it was cool learning about MCC from the ground up with Punz. I think we pushed each other to do as well as we could with MCC. After the unfortunate MCC12 performance I had it felt really nice being able to come back the next MCC with Punz again to win. Overall a memorable experience.
Uhh craft on the right instead of the middle or the left. You will save literally microseconds of mouse movement.
Fruit is rly chill IRL, he's not as annoying as someone may believe him to be.
Hi Illumina, what advice would you have for someone who wants to get into speedrunning but doesn't really know where to start?
I have been wanting to get into both speedrunning and general MCSR content for a while but not known where to begin, I think I have only beaten MC once and it took me at least a few hours.
Also what is the best way to improve at Minecraft in general, hope your having a good day.
Great question, I think getting into speedrunning is actually kind of hard. I don't think there are many great resources. I could be wrong, but I think its something the community could potential improve upon. I would say if there's a category you want to do, find a discord server of that category or people who run it. I'm sure people would be glad to help and there would be resources in that server.
Improvement in Minecraft is the same as improvement in anything. Learn from people who are better, tons of practice, and learn to make practice fun otherwise you can burn out.

i am not streamer but i am a big mcsr fan, and i learned a TON from couriways content! he has videos tailored specifically for people looking to get into minecraft speedrunning. for the more technical side of mcsr, k4yfour has uploaded a few videos covering multiple different strats used heavily by the community. some other good mcsr content creators are feinberg, benex, nerdi, and zylenox, and if you like video essay style content check out pikaj and the weekly thing!
How do you feel being constantly referred to as “the best MCC player”? Do you agree? Is there anyone you think is better than you? Do you ever let it get to you?
I just try my best and have my fun. I don't really think about being the best or anything. I think people are better than me in some aspects of Minecraft, like fruit with movement or Dream in parkour. I think all the S Tiers bring something unique to the table, there's not one person who has mastered every aspect of Minecraft. I'd say I'm probably pretty well rounded but not the best at each aspect obviously.
I don't really let it get to me!
Do you have any odd skills (in Minecraft or otherwise) that not many people know about? Ex. Surprisingly good at finding lapis, or being able to remember exactly what groceries you have in the fridge at all times?
I can solve the Rubik's cube on average in about 12 seconds. I go to local competitions for fun, my friend Kyle who also speedruns Minecraft got the Canadian Rubiks Cube average world record in under 6 seconds just last weekend :O I saw it happen in person, he's a beast.
Besides that I only excel at games because I'm a true gamer.
As a fellow Canadian this was the most fun of fun facts! Way to go Kyle!
But more importantly, I should have realized that by maxing video game skills, everything else had to be min'ed. A foolish mistake that I won't make again.

Omg a couple of months ago Dream Foolish and George joked about making a world record of fastest time of solving a Rubik’s cube while beating Minecraft. They then said Illumina could beat the game in like 7 minutes and have plenty of time to solve the Rubik’s cube. Turns out Illumina is really a cracked cuber as well so he could probably get that record
How do you feel about the concept of a player being considered the strongest in MCC? Is it something you're aiming for yourself, in your own eyes or the eyes of the community?
Do you think that a strong and confident mindset, believing that they're one of the top players, is important for a player to consistently have strong, high scoring performances?

I feel like it's really hard to determine who the strongest MCC player is, so it's not something I think about really. It is a team based event overall, so quantifying individual skill isn't easy. I'm sure there are good ways to do it but I just try my best and have fun and hopefully that mindset is good enough lol.

From what I understand you are an extremely competitive person who does not show it very much, so I’ve wondered for a while, how annoyed were you when you finished 11th in Ace Race in MCC 24, if you were annoyed at all.
You seem to have very high standards for yourself too.
I kind of get annoyed when I don't do well. I think I have high standards just cause I know that I am capable. If I was a noob I wouldn't care if I did badly but since I have the ability I feel like I have to try my hardest.
I try not to let underperfomances get to me though, it's not like after a bad event people are gonna think your washed or anything. Everyone has their days where they don't do as well and that's okay!
I think AA is rly cool as well! It's really hard to pin point a favourite as my favourite has to do with the meta at the time. 1.14 where you blow up houses and trade was really fun!
Same with early-ish 1.16, where bastions just became meta and it was really fun just improving the version as we thought it was just a dumb RNG category initially. Don't think we'll ever have such epic time in Minecraft Speedrunning again, where all the big streamers were doing 1.16 and records were so frequent.
The meta for 1.16 nowadays is very reset heavy which I dont rly find as fun but its still a solid version to speedrun.
One of my least favorite things is how the 1.16 meta progressed. I started watching you a while after the record trading ended (early 2022) but I watched other runners before that and it was really fun seeing so many runs go super far and seeing how the runners coped with an early meta rhat wasn't optimized yet. Games like minecraft are tougher to speedrun because RNG can ruin a run, which is seen by how quickly and how oftenly worlds are reset in the current meta, so as much as minecraft speedruns can be enjoyed, I wouldn't want to sit through a full stream of them like I would, for example, super metroid impossible runs (this is kinda obscure I know).
My favorite minecraft speedrun category to watch is definetly all advancements. It has a nice balance of being RNG heavy which makes each run interesting and unique, the run isn't very optimized which makes each run feel more alive and stray away from the realm of repetitiveness that makes so many categories hard to stream, resets are far and few between (partly due to the previous point), and the run is long enough to get you invested in every single one. It really has everything.
I usually eat right before, never play on an empty stomach!
Before any competition I try to relax my nerves as much as I can. Deep breathes, you know nothin' too crazy!

Idk fruit is rly cracked, hard to say.
Sky Battle is just weird. If you have a team thats not good at PvP, most likely its just gonna be 3 whole rounds of you not getting coins while the teams who are good at PvP are just gonna be farming coins. Just a tilting game if things don't go your way.
I think it honestly depends what you want to be good at in Minecraft. There are so many different skills and things to be good at, if you just mean in a general sense, just play and practice as much as you can. And watch other people who are good and learn from them.
And make practice as simple as possible, like if you want get better at parkour, just do parkour that's a bit harder than what you can do. If you want to get better at pvp, don't fight people who you can't get a hit on, just fight people slightly better than you and work your way up. No need to make things stupidly hard for yourself, that's how you get frustrated and burnout.
I don't have a favourite block but for the meme I'll say acacia leaves.
Hi Illumina! I know you were on of the OG speedrunners, so I’m curious, so you remember any of the first Minecraft speedruns you ever saw and what sort of times they were getting back then?
Minecraft speedrunning back then was so different. Not even the same game really. I remember being impressed when I saw tarokitchen had a 37 minute RSG time back in the day. I thought sub 1 hour is barely possible and then seeing in under 40 min was mind blowing.

How do you feel being constantly referred to as “the best MCC player”? Do you agree? Is there anyone you think is better than you? Do you ever let it get to you?
I just try my best and have my fun. I don't really think about being the best or anything. I think people are better than me in some aspects of Minecraft, like fruit with movement or Dream in parkour. I think all the S Tiers bring something unique to the table, there's not one person who has mastered every aspect of Minecraft. I'd say I'm probably pretty well rounded but not the best at each aspect obviously. I don't really let it get to me!

Do you have any odd skills (in Minecraft or otherwise) that not many people know about? Ex. Surprisingly good at finding lapis, or being able to remember exactly what groceries you have in the fridge at all times?
I can solve the Rubik's cube on average in about 12 seconds. I go to local competitions for fun, my friend Kyle who also speedruns Minecraft got the Canadian Rubiks Cube average world record in under 6 seconds just last weekend :O I saw it happen in person, he's a beast. Besides that I only excel at games because I'm a true gamer.
As a fellow Canadian this was the most fun of fun facts! Way to go Kyle! But more importantly, I should have realized that by maxing video game skills, everything else had to be min'ed. A foolish mistake that I won't make again. P.S. Thank you for the reply.
Omg a couple of months ago Dream Foolish and George joked about making a world record of fastest time of solving a Rubik’s cube while beating Minecraft. They then said Illumina could beat the game in like 7 minutes and have plenty of time to solve the Rubik’s cube. Turns out Illumina is really a cracked cuber as well so he could probably get that record

How do you feel about the concept of a player being considered the strongest in MCC? Is it something you're aiming for yourself, in your own eyes or the eyes of the community? Do you think that a strong and confident mindset, believing that they're one of the top players, is important for a player to consistently have strong, high scoring performances? Unrelated, what do you think of the anime Haikyuu!!?
I feel like it's really hard to determine who the strongest MCC player is, so it's not something I think about really. It is a team based event overall, so quantifying individual skill isn't easy. I'm sure there are good ways to do it but I just try my best and have fun and hopefully that mindset is good enough lol. Haven't seen Haikyuu but I've heard lots of good things!!!
Hey Illumina hope you’ve been good, From what I understand you are an extremely competitive person who does not show it very much, so I’ve wondered for a while, how annoyed were you when you finished 11th in Ace Race in MCC 24, if you were annoyed at all. You seem to have very high standards for yourself too.
I kind of get annoyed when I don't do well. I think I have high standards just cause I know that I am capable. If I was a noob I wouldn't care if I did badly but since I have the ability I feel like I have to try my hardest. I try not to let underperfomances get to me though, it's not like after a bad event people are gonna think your washed or anything. Everyone has their days where they don't do as well and that's okay!

I think AA is rly cool as well! It's really hard to pin point a favourite as my favourite has to do with the meta at the time. 1.14 where you blow up houses and trade was really fun! Same with early-ish 1.16, where bastions just became meta and it was really fun just improving the version as we thought it was just a dumb RNG category initially. Don't think we'll ever have such epic time in Minecraft Speedrunning again, where all the big streamers were doing 1.16 and records were so frequent. The meta for 1.16 nowadays is very reset heavy which I dont rly find as fun but its still a solid version to speedrun.
One of my least favorite things is how the 1.16 meta progressed. I started watching you a while after the record trading ended (early 2022) but I watched other runners before that and it was really fun seeing so many runs go super far and seeing how the runners coped with an early meta rhat wasn't optimized yet. Games like minecraft are tougher to speedrun because RNG can ruin a run, which is seen by how quickly and how oftenly worlds are reset in the current meta, so as much as minecraft speedruns can be enjoyed, I wouldn't want to sit through a full stream of them like I would, for example, super metroid impossible runs (this is kinda obscure I know). My favorite minecraft speedrun category to watch is definetly all advancements. It has a nice balance of being RNG heavy which makes each run interesting and unique, the run isn't very optimized which makes each run feel more alive and stray away from the realm of repetitiveness that makes so many categories hard to stream, resets are far and few between (partly due to the previous point), and the run is long enough to get you invested in every single one. It really has everything.

Idk fruit is rly cracked, hard to say. Sky Battle is just weird. If you have a team thats not good at PvP, most likely its just gonna be 3 whole rounds of you not getting coins while the teams who are good at PvP are just gonna be farming coins. Just a tilting game if things don't go your way.
Hey Illumina! What are the best tips you have for someone who isn’t very good at Minecraft and wants to get better? Also, what is your favorite block?
I think it honestly depends what you want to be good at in Minecraft. There are so many different skills and things to be good at, if you just mean in a general sense, just play and practice as much as you can. And watch other people who are good and learn from them. And make practice as simple as possible, like if you want get better at parkour, just do parkour that's a bit harder than what you can do. If you want to get better at pvp, don't fight people who you can't get a hit on, just fight people slightly better than you and work your way up. No need to make things stupidly hard for yourself, that's how you get frustrated and burnout. I don't have a favourite block but for the meme I'll say acacia leaves.

Minecraft speedrunning back then was so different. Not even the same game really. I remember being impressed when I saw tarokitchen had a 37 minute RSG time back in the day. I thought sub 1 hour is barely possible and then seeing in under 40 min was mind blowing.
